« on: October 26, 2008, 09:25:11 AM »
I was looking at today's papers and saw in the sports a pic from NE Stars vs St Ann's,boy it had Sancho and quite frankly that fella out of shape bad,he look like a prop or forward from  the tri nations ???, and not in a good way!!!No wonder he could not get a contract. The type of center back Sancho is,take away his physical attributes and take into consideration his average anticipation, positioning and game reading he will struggle!at any decent level!

Harry checks in at Pompey

Southampton have finally cleared the way for Harry Redknapp to return to Portsmouth by agreeing a compensation package with their arch rivals.

That was the major obstacle preventing Redknapp going back to the club he left in November 2004, but the 58-year-old has now been unveiled at a press conference.

Saints rejected an initial offer from Portsmouth to speak with Redknapp, with chairman Rupert Lowe calling a £125,000 package "derisory".

That compensation deal included £75,000 in the event of Portsmouth avoiding relegation and was rejected out of hand, leading Mandaric to claim Redknapp was out of the running for the job.

A new financial package has been agreed, paving the way for Redknapp to leave Southampton after 12 months at St Mary's.

He joined Southampton in controversial circumstances, just days after leaving their fiercest rivals, and is sure to cause more disquiet by heading in the opposite direction.

But Lowe is keen to draw a line under the episode, with Redknapp having set his heart on moving back to his old job.

"This saga had got to the stage of being an embarrassment for football as a whole," said Lowe. "Portsmouth have produced a compensation package that is just acceptable to this club and I consider that it is in Southampton's best interests to get on with the future rather than dwell on the past.

"I cannot comment on the quantum of the settlement as both clubs are bound by a confidentiality agreement."

Southampton have spoken with both the Premier League and Football League after losing Redknapp, with Lowe having not disguised his anger at the events.

"We do not believe that this episode has been conducted within the rules of the game and have made our understanding of the last week available to both the Premier League and the Football League," said Lowe.

Director Andrew Cowen underlined the disenchantment at Southampton.

He told the club's website: "Money continued to back Harry for the Pompey job on the betting exchanges.

"Perhaps in the future you should look at what happens there rather than what people say."

Redknapp took Southampton down to the Championship after failing to turn around their season, but they have not started the season in the manner of promotion contenders.

Nonetheless, Cowen believes the club will be able to attract a top-quality new manager to replace Redknapp.

"The Southampton post is very attractive," he said. "We have an excellent first-team squad and one of the best crops of young players in the country; we need to marry these with a top quality man.

"Despite drawing too many games in the season to date, with the way the Championship is bunched, promotion is still not out of the question."

They can now look forward, with Redknapp having walked out of the club on Saturday to leave himself and Southampton in limbo.

Yesterday I posted that I think our best option at right back is Carlos Edwards,Once we get a midfielder that can tuck in to create the channel for him to overlap Spann,Birchall,Josh Johnson, the following is Souness on Wayne Bridge.
From teamtalk
Magpies keen to lure Bridge

Newcastle boss Graeme Souness has dropped a strong hint that he is ready to move for out-of-favour Chelsea left-back Wayne Bridge in January.

The Magpies manager attempted to recruit the England defender on a season-long loan deal in August but had his request rebuffed by Blues counterpart Jose Mourinho.

But having refused to abandon his interest in the 25-year-old, Souness is understood to have raised the subject again with Mourinho following Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge.

The United boss confirmed his interest in the player in September, admitting: "I tried to get him in on loan, it's an area we felt we could strengthen but Chelsea said he wasn't available. He's a modern full-back. All the modern full-backs were once wingers. I had him as a young boy at Southampton and he was a winger."
Souness is also reportedly interested in Gareth Barry, but with Aston Villa in no mood to sell the versatile star, Souness believes he has more chance of luring Bridge away from south-west London.

Bridge has played just 60 minutes of first-team football this season after recovering from a serious ankle injury in the summer, having lost his place in the side to £8m summer recruit Asier Del Horno.

He has been warned by Sven-Goran Eriksson that he will need to be playing regular first-team football if he wants to cement his place in England's World Cup squad.

And with little chance of seeing regular action at Chelsea, Bridge may feel the time is right to seek pastures new - providing Souness can persuade Mourinho to sanction his departure.

Souness has already admitted that he is keen to strengthen in January, although having spent £50m this year, the size of his transfer kitty is uncertain.

Chelsea paid £7m for Bridge in the summer of 2003 and, although the transfer market has changed markedly since then, an initial loan deal could still be the best option for Souness.

Raphael laments lack of support for Hampton Games
BY KWAME WILLIAMS

RAWLE RAPHAEL, chairman of the Hampton Organising Committee, has said that next year’s edition of the annual Hampton International Games may be its very last.

Raphael, speaking at press conference yesterday at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, told the media that it was getting increasingly difficult to host the meet with the limited support the Hampton Committee had been getting from Government and the private sector.

If this lack of support continues next year, he said, then 2006 would be the last time the Games would be held.

So far, Hampton has collected $18,000, with $2,500 coming from Clico, Concacaf president Jack Warner donating $5,000, National Petroleum (NP) contributing $3,000, $5,000 from Nipdec and T&TEC giving $2,500.

Venture Credit Union and Trevor Hewitt made pledges of $5,000 and $10,000 respectively, while Government has handled the stadium rental and paid the cost to purchase medals and other prizes, which came up to approximately $50,000.

“We are very disappointed by the amount of assistance we’ve received from Government. Over the years, we’ve done our best to run the Games with the little money we get, but if we have to go through this kind of thing again next year, we will be forced to call that George,” Raphael said.

“We made a request to Government for $1.1 million per year, but we never got it. They gave us $800,000 two years ago and we got the international athletes we wanted, but that money was just enough for appearance fees and prizes. That is the calibre of meet we want to have all the time,”

Look at the amounts given by co-operate T&T,leave out Warner, look at this nastiness >:(
I telling all yuh all this crime is not by accident and where people feel it is it not dey.
Once youth.positives,healthy activity,one thing yuh sure bout..........not a fart from co-operate Trinidad......think about it ???

Football / Loaning of Players
« on: May 05, 2005, 06:43:32 AM »
Fellas I think that the PFL should be loaning players to Super League clubs,I was passing by a ground in Couva and see Rotiv Couva Ball Players who I think got promoted to the Supaer League training and I saw some players looking like Brazilians I will bet  W Connection have comething to do with that,I think that W Connection success comes as a result of loaning a lot of their players especially youths  to Super League and  even the Zonal Premier League.

I was reading from a post that Tallman gave to Shotta at this caught my eye, ???
In the South, there were two separate First Class Leagues sponsored by the Southern Amateur Football Association (SAFA) and the Southern Amateur Football League (SAFL). Southern first division teams included United British Oilfields of Trinidad (UBOT), Shell, Trinidad Petroleum Development (TPD), Juniors, British Petroleum (BP)-Palo Seco, BP-Fyzabad, Naparima College, and Presentation College. Southern teams had the benefit of training on superior fields that were provided by the oil companies. Like their counterparts in the North, Naparima and Presentation Colleges competed annually for the southern intercollegiate Cup (Cutteridge Cup), with the winner playing the northern intercollegiate champion for the Cow & Gate Cup.
Now I think we must look at things that were done in the past,I think that the name of the PFL should change to some concentrating on national or nation wide, the league should be a rival first class league the super league should look to get Coat Guard,Prisons,T&TEC,TSTT  maybe UWI to field teams.Too much talent wasting!More than we think.
