honestly who are France young global superstars?...I know they have good young players but who is the next Zidane or Henry ??..when I think of French stars my mind is still stuck on Henry, Viera, Anelka and them older heads (who are no longer in their prime)..
Goucruff is one to watch, Benzema could also be a superstar is handled right...

this world cup supposed to be guorcuff's opportunity to shine as he has been touted as zidane's successor in midfield for france. . . he never really got to play too many games at ac milan but at bordeaux he has been a main start in getting them as far as they did in the ucl .. .i mean . . de man capable of things like this ..

2010 World Cup - South Africa / Re: Holland vs Mexico
« on: May 26, 2010, 01:45:43 PM »
I actually liked the first goal better particular since it was his weaker foot and he had to jump for it ... I don't think Mexico does badly against these teams but I think it's weakness has been exposed and now they have a chance to fix it.... the weakness to the cross ball ... they're very poor against it ... crosses and headers across the face of the goal will trouble this team big time! England exposed it and now Holland... Van Persie is looking fresh good for him and Arsenal!

If only he could stay fit for a whole season  . .then arsenal will be a force for sure. . .  even if it was the majority of the season . . but frig the man injury prone.  .

chamakh completes move. . .

Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce that Moroccan international striker Marouane Chamakh has joined the Gunners on a long-term contract.

Chamakh (26), who joins Arsenal from French side Bordeaux, made a total of 293 appearances, scoring 79 goals during his eight years with Les Girondins.

In the 2008/09 league campaign, Chamakh scored 14 goals, helping Bordeaux win the French League title, thus ending Lyon’s seven-year domination of Ligue 1. The Moroccan striker’s fine form continued last season, playing an integral role in helping Bordeaux reach the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, where they finished above both Bayern Munich and Juventus in the Group Stages.

Born and raised in France, but playing international football for Morocco through his parentage, Chamakh has made 53 appearances for the north African country, scoring 27 goals, and was part of the side which reached the Final of the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations.

Manager Arsène Wenger said: “We are delighted that Marouane Chamakh has joined us. He is a player we have admired for some time now and I know he will provide our squad with great quality. Chamakh has proved he is a great player with his performances for Bordeaux and Morocco in recent seasons and we’re all looking forward to him joining us.

"Chamakh is a striker of real quality and has all the attributes suited to come to England and do very well. He is also a fighter, not only a good football player, but a fighter as well. He is very good in the air and also a good team player. He is a great addition to our squad.”

After completing his move to the Gunners, Chamakh said: “This is a dream come true and a great joy to be joining Arsenal. My goal was always to play in the Premier League and Arsenal was the choice of my heart.

“Without any hesitation, Arsenal was my preferred club. The team and history of Arsenal, they make me dream. My goal was to join Arsenal out of the all the English clubs because it is a club that makes me dream and I have been a fan since I was a child.

“I’m very excited about playing at Emirates Stadium in front of the Arsenal supporters. I have heard many great things about the stadium and I cannot wait to be playing there in an Arsenal shirt.

“I will give my best to this Club, the Club that I used to support. We have many great players at Arsenal and I will be giving everything to help the team win trophies next season.”

Ivan Gazidis, Chief Executive of Arsenal Football Club added: “Arsène has been following the progress of Marouane Chamakh for some time and has identified him as a player that will add significant strength to our squad. We’re delighted that Marouane has chosen Arsenal ahead of the many other clubs that were interested in him.”

Chamakh, who will wear the number 29 shirt for Arsenal, will join up with his new team-mates for pre-season training in July.

Football / Lara to play alongside Zidane...
« on: April 23, 2010, 02:28:08 AM »
WORLD Cup head-butter ZINEDINE ZIDANE is this year's star signing for Soccer Aid.

It will be amazing to see him in action again - but let's hope Zizou can keep it clean for his big comeback.

He retired from football after his infamous sending off for butting Italy's MARCO MATERAZZI in the 2006 final.

But the France legend is strapping on his boots again for ITV's annual live charity match.

And organiser ROBBIE WILLIAMS said: "I can't believe he's playing. I'm over the moon. I won't know whether to shake his hand or lick his face."

Zidane, who starred for Juventus and Real Madrid, will play in the Rest Of The World team at Old Trafford on June 6 against an England side of celebs and former footie stars.

The last time Zizou emerged from the Man U tunnel was in 2003 when Real Madrid knocked ALEX FERGUSON's boys out of the Champions League in a thrilling quarter-final. Instead of Galacticos like LUIS FIGO and Brazil's RONALDO, this time he'll be alongside WESTLIFE, actor DAMIAN LEWIS, cricket's BRIAN LARA and ex-Celtic ace HENRIK LARSSON.

The home team comprises comedian JAMES CORDEN, GORDON RAMSAY, TV's BEN SHEPHARD, boxer RICKY HATTON and former England stars ALAN SHEARER, DAVID SEAMAN, TEDDY SHERINGHAM and JAMIE REDKNAPP.

It should be a cracking event, coming just a week before the World Cup kicks off. Soccer Aid, which Robbie started in 2006, raises money for UNICEF.

We haven't heard much from Zidane since that infamous butt.

Nowadays The Monk is an adviser to Real Madrid's President FLORENTINO PEREZ and turns out for the club's veterans side.

Only last month Zidane said he "would rather die" than apologise for butting Materazzi.

He maintains the Italian kept insulting his mother, who was ill in hospital. He said: "If I ask him forgiveness, I lack respect for myself and for all those I hold dear with all my heart.

"I apologise to football, to the fans, to the team. But to him I cannot. Never, never. It would be to dishonour me. I'd rather die."

There's one thing that would definitely ensure top ratings for Soccer Aid - and that's signing up Materazzi too.

But that would turn it into a boxing match rather than a footie match.

I would want to see this just to see Zidane play again . . will always be one of my favourites. . .

2010 World Cup - South Africa / Ronaldinho @ world cup??
« on: April 22, 2010, 03:01:32 AM »
Ronaldinho says he is convinced he will be part of the Brazil squad that will win this summer's World Cup finals in South Africa.

Ronaldinho was a key member of Brazil's side at both the 2002 and 2006 events - helping them to win the tournament in 2002 - but has not made an impression on Brazil coach Dunga and could miss out on this year's tournament.

However, the AC Milan playmaker says that he is not fearing for his place in the squad.

"I will go to the World Cup and I will win it,'' he said in an article in Chi. "Recently I have had problems with the national team, but it hasn't been my fault.

"I can't imagine a World Cup without Ronaldinho on the field. It seems impossible to me when I think of not playing.

"I feel bad, really bad. Therefore, I can safely say I will make my country proud in the World Cup and, above all - with my team-mates - I'll win it."

Sounds a bit cocky to me. . . . but i think the brazil team may have a boost . . but at the same time they make it to the world cup without him . .so i dont know what to think. . .but it doesnt really matter to me. . i dont like brazil anyway . . . but the more entertainment at the world cup the better. . so i say play de man  . . haha ..

To comment on the game . . . . Mourinho wins round one . .. and as much as i want barca to lose (cuz they knock out my arsenal hahaha). . . barca this season has been a completely different team in the camp nou . . . if inter could conatin barca there . . .then they will have a chance. . .but if barca play (and more so messi) like they possessed like how they have done on many occassions this year . . . then inter in for a hard time.

oh my. .  .. by far that was the hardest loss of the season to take. . . .one thing to concede 3 against manchester and chelsea etc. . .but another to concede 3 in 11 mins against wigan. . . .and the last 11 mins to make matters worst. . . . they thought it was nap time or something .. .anyway . . like i said in my previous post. . i am not all dissapointed in the season . . and wenger i think got enough evidence that he needs to buy .. . he says he has 30 - 40 million to spend . . .and with whatever he makes from sales of such people like eduardo . . . then he more than have enough to get good players. . . . i heard that he was rumoured to be making a bid for joe hart . . who i think is a very good keeper and he is still young. . give the gunners years of service there. . . i hope he get another striker too . . .cuz bendtner does show glimpses of goodness . . but he have plenty to learn still . . . however ..  i sayin this now. . .wenger will buy .. and barring we lose fabregas to barcalona and dont get a stellar replacement. . i am expecting big things from arsenal next season . . . wengers last year on his contract and if he is not going to renew . .then he would want to go out with a bang. . .

all the haters come out to gloat but is all good, the squad just not good enough.   is ok though i not really disappointed b/c i knew better than to get my hopes too high.   on to the summer, hopefully the squad gets strengthened in key areas and certain players get shown the door (silvestre should be thrown out the door).

Yeah . . i am not that disappointed except for the fact that it was spurs we loss against . . . is arsenal own fault for not winning that game. . . and even though we did not win silverware this season. . i think that the overall season was a success because arsenal show remarkable improvements from last year . . . where we were strugglin to hang on to fourth. . this time we were potential title winners with a realistic chance. . and although they still show their immaturity some times .. . they show good spirit this season and good fight. . and for this team to be so close to the top even though we were injury plagued this season. . showed that this team have good talent and good spirit. . . wenger will definately buy this summer . .with chamakh tentatively confirmed already i see he lookin for strike options (as well as balotelli) . . there is talk he want to sign caceres from barca. . so he lookin at defenders  too .. and i read a while back that he was interested in hazard which i thought he would be as he is a young talent. . .but i think he should get a really good holding midfielder along with the strikers and defenders. . just get more depth in those areas . . . i am not disaapointed from this seasons results. . but having said that ... . . i am expecting big big things next season . .

Congrats to Bayern, they did what they had to do. Overall I have not been impressed. Bayern seems to be lucky rather than good. Great finish from Robben admittedly, but Bayern seem to lack attacking ideas, even when they were up a man. They may out muscle Lyon, but could be out done by Lyon's pace and technique.

Bayern admittedly have a very suspect defence. . .but they are not lucky i dont think . . they are very plan oriented. . . and mentally strong. . . it didnt matter how much manchester score. . they had the discipline to stick to the plan . . no panic button was pushed. . they jes keep playin . . that is what they needed to do and jes think that the chances will come. . .and they came and they put them away . . . that is the same thing they do against fiorentina in the second leg. . . .even though they was behind. . they jes keep playin . . .i admire them for that . .

30
i am an arsenal supporter through and through . . and well i will say again . . . you cant mark a man with mutant powers. . . having said that . .we lost to a much better team and i cyah geh vex .. . messi is the best right now. . . and we couldnt stop him . .  next up inter and the battle of the special ones (mourinho vs messi). . if mourinho could figure out how to stop him . .then he will jes get a bigger ego . .haha . . .we will have to see. . . wenger will now be forced to buy as he finally will realize that he needs some more confident mature players if he wants to compete. . .
