Football / Re: 'A dream come true' Ato Boldon,
« on: June 17, 2006, 06:03:53 AM »
Yes I am a waggonist.  I have a contract with CBS which said I had to be in Sacramento, California on June 10th to call the NCAA championships - which makes more TNT history whether or not some of you clueless ones know it, since no-one with a TNT passport has ever done national sports broadcasts in the US.  This is year 2 and counting.  So yes, I missed the most important game in history. You think I was happy to miss TNT v SWE?  It's called being a PROFESSIONAL.  Where does the the England game rank, then? Steups.

I have been in Germany since that time, and front and center for ENGLAND v TnT, and I am here until we are eliminated, IF we are eliminated.  So if unbreakable committments means 'waggonist', then sure....but please doh make me laugh like I now reach, all yuh who have no clue whatsoever.  You have no idea how many years I have been going to TNT games - all over the globe. At least 10!  Ask Dwight.

I dunno why Trinis so, nuh, I really don't. Perhaps you can suggest what behaviour exactly would point to me being a waggonist, besides missing a game that I was 7000 miles away from and could not be at?  You see me sharing stages with the Warriors?  Making appearances with them?  At any TTFF thing? Press conferences?  Stupid arse.

Glad to see the usual idiots will jump at any chance to make a disparaging comment.  Ignorance is bliss.  Stay happy.

I for one was glad to see you out with us on the Wednesday and at the game as well.

Hate that Yorke have SMS to he´s English friends and ask them to kick us Sweden....
Thats really sad!!  So u need help from other country. 2 teams against 1. Not funny.  Only thing u had to do was to work harder the last 9 minutes against England.

You still feeling the pain from the draw?

If you're travelling to Kaiserslauten on the day of the game, you will get a discount on your train fare if you show your match ticket. Local transport in Kaisealutern will be free.

I'm sick to miss this game after being there for the first two. Have a great trip.

There is also the Angostura event at Limericks which starts at noon, with Maximus and Destra.

Lord, I was thinking that this started after the game. Got to be the best place to start and end the day.

Thanks for the update, E-man.

There's supposed to be a fans zone with a big screen at Westfalenhalle. Could be the place to lime and catch the England v Paraguay game before heading off to the stadium.

If my plans change I'll be certain to look out for you all.

She left T&T for WC last sunday...

She gobe a broke when she done. ;D
Yuh only live once breddah...besides, you doh know how deep her pockets are.

Or who pocket she in?!  ;D

Just got back from Prague and it seemed as though there were only 3 Trinis there.

I met Stacey after the game when we were waiting to see the players leave the stadium, she's as nice as she is pretty. Took a load of photos and will put some on the site once i get settled.

There may not have been many of us but at least Warrior Nation had two people over there. Were there any others that we missed?

Got back from Prague an hour ago and my Sweden ticket was waiting for me.

Red Sector, Block 30, Row 6, Seat 31.

I see there's a few people nearby. We have to make some noise.

anybody get it on oxford street yet? ??? is lilltwhites printing them wit the adidas print?

ah comin down tomorrow so i wha no if to pass thru tomorrow b4 i come to watch the game

I was in Lillywhites on Tuesday afternoon and they had to phone the Adidas store to see when the shirts were coming in. The store would then send Lilliywites' order to them a few days later.

On the same day Soccer Scene in Carnaby Street said that they were expecting them on 5th June but I wouldn't rely on that.

Best alternative option is to wear your Warrior Nation shirt for now and pick up the team shirt in Germany.

Juninho has a great reputation in Europe at the moment but I'm surprised that nobody has nominated Ronaldinho.

Nice one Flex.

Beenie answer some of those questions with a straighter bat than Geoff Boycott on a run chase.

its difficult to think that neither england nor sweden getting into second round...

All it takes is a draw against England or Sweden and a win against Paraguay could lead to qualification to the knockout statges.

Winning the first two games would be my first choice but, realistically, draws are possible. Paraguay is our best chance for a group win and never stop believing that we will still be in with a shot at progressing come 20th June.

Gretna are one of the few Scottish teams with serious financial backing and have a lot of ambition.

Dog could be part of an amazing journey. A nice way to end your career.

Football / Re: Police deny claims of Wenger-Davids tunnel bust-up
« on: April 25, 2006, 07:59:40 AM »
There is an unwritten football law that says you stop playing when a player(s) is down on the field due to some injury.  Carrick saw what happened...paused and decided to continue play.  Davids continued on knowing full well that 2 Arsenal players were down.  Actually...everybody paused when the incident occurred.

It is the ACCEPTED and SPORTING way to stop play when that happens...regardless of whether it is 2 players from the same team or not.

Lest people forget....Several years ago...Kanu playing for Arsenal scored a goal in similar fashion i.e. he kept on playing while everyone else stopped.  Going strictly by the letter of the law...the goal was legal and the referee pointed to the spot.  Wenger promptly apologised after the game and insisted to the English FA that the game be replayed as Kanu claimed he wasn't aware that he should stop.  The game was replayed and Arsenal went on to win anyway....but the point is that Wenger strongly believed back then and obviously to this day in fair play.

Palos

This is the first time I can't agree with you. Yes there is an unwritten law to stop play when a man is down, but only for a serious injury or a knock to the head.

This was an ordinary collision between two team mates with no obvious sign of a bad injury, in fact one of the players got to his feet only to go back down to ground in the hope of getting the play stopped. Arsenal themselves refused to stop play last week when Villareal players were prostrate on the ground, the claim being that the Villareal players were feigning injury.

Football is a man's game but you see too many professionals falling to the ground and rolling around as though they had been shot when a minimal amount of contact has been made. If a game was stopped every time a player went to ground it would not be worth watching as any attacking moves would be halted by a wave of players falling to the ground.

Games should only be stopped if there is a serious injury to a player and the referee is in the perfect position to tell if this is the case. In my experience, when it comes to an obviously serious injury, team rivalry is forgotten and players will always stop the game to allow for quick treatment to a fellow professional.

Saturday's draw has probably killed of Arsenal's hopes qualifying for the Champions League through their league position and Wenger knew that. An Arsene (I did not happen to see that) Wenger under pressure gets rattled easily and for years Alex Ferguson, and more recently Jose Mourinho, have been able to exploit that fact. He gambled with his team selection and didn't get the win. No complaints and concentrate on reaching the CL final.
