Whether we like it or not, football reflects everything good in life, and everything bad in life too.

So like life there are cheats, so it is in football.

Unless you introduce trial by video, and start to ban and fine players after a committee judges that a player has dived, maliciously fouled or committed any other ungentlemanly act, then we gonna keep having things the way they are.

Henry was disgraceful against Carlos Puyol
Owen dived against Argentina,
Ronaldo (Brazil) was a disgrace against France
Steven Gerrard dived against Hungary
the list can go on and on.

name some trini player jus to show u aint bias

For my English friend, Kenwyne Jones and Cornell Glen in the last match Vs Paraguay!

You happy, give you good consolation now???   ???

Well i'm glad he decided to retire. Because his rep was being tainted with some very poor performances. Zidane play 1, ONE good game in de whole tournament. Scored 1 penalty, and one break away goal!

Personally I think he should have stayed in retirement, and kept that great legacy in tack. But he is fortunate that this late surge to glory saving his rep. Cus at the start of the tournament he looked like a fallen hero.

To answer your questions richpy:

Oh for real? Zidane had one good game in the tournament?  YES

He rep was being tainted? YES

Zidane is already in the greats catogory. How could this tournament taint his reputation? BY PLAYING LIKE A SHADOW OF HIMSELF!

You say he lucky that France have a late surge? So who is a big reason behind that surge? FRENCH TEAM WORK!

Sounds like somebody team get knock out from France to spew all that bitterness to me.  WELL IF YOU COUNT ARGENTINA YES! BUT WAIT, FRANCE DIDNT BEAT ARGENTINA  ??? SO I GUESS I'M NOT BITTER ABOUT FRANCE  ;D

The 3rd and 4th place play off is a great idea. You loose a semi-final, but atleast there is something to play for including a WC medal! And the games are very entertaining.

there are obvious contenters, but to be honest, there was diving in almost every match I saw. But because a team like Angola (not pointing them out) is not known for diving, it dont get played up. Hell I even see Kenwyne Jones take de plunge once! Sad fact is, its part of de game now, and people real blatant about it.

So far Portugal are the more cohesive team, and Ronaldo is the main attacking star on the field.

Men like Ronaldo and Beckham better get their acts together.  He go clean house.

I agree.

I strongly feel Beckham, Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, Zidane (obviously), Raul and possibly Guti might get the boot. This team decided to choose commercialism over football and paid the price. Capello is a football man, not a marketer.

Barcelona chose football over commercialism and get 2 La liga titles, and Champions league trophy, plus double world player of the year!

When Trinidad hosted the U-17 championship, how do you think TnT did? (Not football wise, but hosting wise)

17
Whether he did it or not, who cares!! these tings happen behind closed doors of most football teams. Amateur and professional. Plus Beenie could have been using reverse psycology on him. And Shaka is quiet laid back. Maybe Beenie respects his talents and experience, but wanted a more competitive and aggressive mindset amongst the squad. So competition for places will be good, instead of "gentlemanly".

Football / Re: World Rankings (After the WC)
« on: July 03, 2006, 11:50:46 AM »
but u made it to the world cup..and they didnt.

But that should have little bearing on anything. At the end of the day, we didnt win the world cup, get to the last 4, quarters, or even last 16's. We didnt win a game or score a goal.

Where did we finish out of 32 teams?? Nobody knows, because they dont rank teams based on fairy tale WC performances.

We have to do our homework, and win win win and progress in the Gold Cup to the latter stages on a regular basis. Thats the only true and fair way for us to progress up the rankings.

21
Yes we have a smaller pool of talent, but we dont need 22 world class players to qualify for the world cup. We just need Beenhakker, or a coach of similar pedigree, good preparation that includes adequate financial resources, logistical planning and a good time table for preparation. And finally 22 players who can play football, understand tactics and are hungry for success.  E.g the USA!!! (No world class players, good coaching, well prepared, good financial resources, lots of hunger to win and compete)

If the chemistry between all the above is right, we can qualify. We not talking winning the world cup as yet! Just getting a team together capable of making world cups.

Once we gain more experience and get more exposure, it will benefit us in the long run. As they say, you gotta crawl before you walk!

Realistically TnT may move 5 points at most, and thats being generous enough. We dont deserve to move much more to be honest. Since the start of the new year,

1 win - 2-0 Iceland
5 defeats - 3 WC friendlies and 2 WC matches
2 draws - 1-1 Peru  0-0 Sweden
(Cant count friendlies against club sides)

Thats bad!!!

If we want to be making big moves, we need to be quarter/semi/finalist for the Gold Cup on a regular basis, and win lots of Class A games. E.g Japan this summer, Ghana later. We have to win win win against World Teams!

Football / Re: England talking about unfairness
« on: July 02, 2006, 03:58:37 PM »
You dont no what you are talking about.. Seriouslyman
your'e going on about sprinters..
and why do you focus so much on england GOD ALMIGHTY
If you say they make to many excuses..they havent done that..all they have said is they feel they should have won that game but it went to penalties and it wasnt to be..and thats football. then they said they were sorry to the fans.

BUT somehow on this board people start coming up with reasons to talk about england moaning or england doing this or england doing that..
For cyrin out loud its a T&T board!

Brazil has alredy made more excuses than england about their loss..yet you continue to talk about england.

The stuff the players were saying wasnt excuses about the game..and it isnt supposed to be clinically analysed by a t&t board who to me still seem bitter about the loss earlier. ok you conceded to goals in the last minutes , it was tuff but u dont need keep going on. If its not about that..then u have no reason to keep going on about england. I respect t&t tha is why i come on here as i was born there but i have live in england most of my life.

And u say they shundnt mention c.r. they didnt. they were asked about it..and they answered. and it is correct..rooney was fouled but he stayed up..and they he stood on this guys balls. so be it. and his friend does run over tryin to get him sent off. rooney is shocked..looses his temper and is sent off..thats how it went.

now u wanna stop focusing on this and look at every other team that has made excuses and see how similar the situation is. I can tell u now.the players no they didnt perform this w.c and they are sorry for it.

Listen, this is an open forum where we discuss all things football, whether it involves TnT or not. If you cyah take negative criticism about England or any country you support, dont post here! People are entitled to express an opinion based on the facts. This thread was originally about what excuses England come up with when they loose. It about England, so we can talk about it. If you dont like, dont post, dont read, dont comment.  You sound very foolish by constantly flogging a dead horse by defending England to the hill tops, when other forums, newspapers both internationally and in the UK saying the same thing we are saying on this forum. So why not go tell them the same thing too if you want to be consistent???

Please, I trying to be as polite and reasonable as possible. But make your points, but dont cut down other people because you think we "English bashing". More like reality checking!

In reading that last article it occurred to me that the reason these British footballers have such issues achieving anything when it counts is the same reason that their sprinters have done almost zero since 1993.   Their press coddles them, they then walk around believing their own press, and when anything rocks their little boat, they go and whine and complain about everything except the real culprit. What stupidness are they talking about?  These "men" are really complaining about Ronaldo asking for a card?  Even if that was the case, how ridiculous is it for them to bring up the Man U. connection - as if C. Ronaldo should not have done everything for his country based on their stupid MANURE UNITED club ties.  So what?  MAN U can't win the world cup - they cant even win the EPL these days.  It is this ENGLAND-centric thinking which people who don't live in that rainy, god forsaken place can't grasp nor care for.

The person to blame is..........wait for it..............ROONEY:  He got away with stamping a man in his privates, or, he got away with pushing a man in front of the ref.  One of them got him thrown out.  Whichever way you want to take it, what he got was justified.
For either of the fouls.  For grown men to be blaming their opponents' will to win (it's well within the rules to appeal) and tenacity and not their own hot-headed idiot striker is sickening.  We won't even bring up Crouch.

I cannot emphasize this point more. Now you know why the Scots and Irish and anyone non-English living in the UK wants them to loose!

Its one thing to have national pride, but to have this blinded by arrogance and conceit beyond comprehension is ridiculous.

If TnT gonna make WC 2010, we must make our region stand up and respect us! So its Semi-finals or Finals, or win de ting outright at a minimum. We cant expect to progress in no world cup without taking care of things at home first.

Plus if we win, we going South Africa for the Confed cup in 2009! So more world class competition and practice.

No excuses for his performances. Cyah blame tactics, injury or fatigue. As Ruud Gullit say on tv, he tried too hard to prove how great he is and wound up beating himself. tut tut tut

English Excuses! I glad they on the next flight home.

Rooney is a hooligan with football skills. He deserved his red card.

And England deserved to go out. What have they added to this tournament???

I dare someone intelligent to find 5 positive things England showed the world in this WC.

Being a big Brazil fan I have to say, they got what they were looking for. A beating! From match 1, they looked out of sorts. They deserved to go out, and I dont care what anyone says,

Ronaldhino, - Failure
Ronaldo,     - Failure
Adriano       - Why was he even picked.

Star men - Kaka and Robinhno and the grafters who had to pick up the slack when Brazil casually loosing ball.

Stupid moment - Roberto Carlos -Your suppose to track your man!!

Congrats to France. My only regret is that Argentina (the best side in the tournament so far) are going home.

Pekerman quits as Argentina coach

Pekerman took over as Argentina coach in September 2004
Jose Pekerman has quit as coach of Argentina following their quarter-final loss to Germany on penalties.
"This has come to an end and I will certainly not go on," he said.

"You have to make a decision and I'm convinced I've done everything in my reach, and it's time to look for something else.

"I'm very sorry for the coaches and the fans and the players, this team deserves to go further but we couldn't make it."

Argentina led through a Roberto Ayala goal but Miroslav Klose's late equaliser sent the game into extra-time.

Ayala and Esteban Cambiasso both missed in the penalty shoot-out to see the hosts progress 4-2.

The 56-year-old Pekerman added: "It was a very exciting match. We also played like favourites and gave our best although we lost.

"The penalties were a consequence of a very even match. It's a shame for Argentina who played very well and in the whole championship."

Klose's equaliser came eight minutes after Pekerman had taken off playmaker Juan Riquelme.

Pekerman took over as Argentina coach in September 2004, having previously led the Under-20 side to three World Youth Championships.
