Football / Re: TTFA set to appoint obscure Belgian; ex-Bangladesh coach

Just when you think the TTFA couldn't sink any lower, they keep reminding us just how incompitent they really are. You hire a coach LESS qualified than Hart and expect BETTER results! What Alice in wonderland madness is that! And you also blow the opportunity to get Phillipe Omar Troussier because what? He too expensive? That's the excuse so you can hire this lacky? If this guy could be head coach, so could I. You know what, I believe when a TTFA president hire a coach and the coach gets fired after less than four games in charge, the TTFA President should be fired as well. See you next four years ppl, cause this campaign is over.

Well they just gifted Uruguay those two goals. Give away a penalty and the keeper drop the ball. You make those mistakes at this level, you get punished.

One question. Who, in their brilliant mind, thought it would be a good idea, to send a T&T b-squad against a full strength Brazil National women's team?

It was a last-minute invitation to a tournament with high profile teams. It was a risk because of the conflict in schedule with the "A" team playing the USA around the same time. However, the alternative was to do nothing, hope for de best, and then go straight into the final round of CONCACAF Olympic qualifying with not much true match practice under our belts. This is a chance to play Canada, who we will be meeting in February. In the end some people would say it's worth it, others would say it's not.
Dammed if you do, dammed if you don't I guess. It certainly was a win/win situation for Brazil. At least the b-squad will get some high level match practice. And you're right, the coaching staff will get a good look at Canada first hand. Women's football in this country is still in the adolescent stage as far as I'm concerned. We got a good way to go still. If only the powers that be would get their head out of their butts and do some real work.

One question. Who, in their brilliant mind, thought it would be a good idea, to send a T&T b-squad against a full strength Brazil National women's team? Well, at least the T&T players know just how far off they are from real professionals. I watched the Brazil training video. Do our women warriors do even half of what teams like USA and Brazil do? It doesn't seem so.

it was unfortunate that TT first game was Brazil. With the core of the team in Houston to play the US tonight, I think, it would be difficult for the 2nd string team to contain Marta and the Vandallas. This was a perfect target practice for Brazil. For all the negative talk about the defeat, there is somethings these girls should take from this defeat. This is what real football is about. If you are not prepared, you will be crushed. If they are serious about playing football, they have to make the effort to improve and not be embarrassed in the future. I hope DJW see how deficient the women's teams are. So the ball is in his court now.
Agreed

Well done. On top of this, a favourable draw with no USA or Mexico. Nice. Let's hope these ladies get good support and not lip service from the powers that be. I'm looking at you TTFA and by extension Ministry of sport. Don't find a way to mess this up!

Very good chess match of football. Hart moved smart tactically and although it looked like he moved late to bring on Keron "Ball Pest" Cumings and Caesar (both of whom looked extremely dangerous), he knew he had to secure the defense first and prevent a loss before committing to attack to get a risky push for a win. Williams was doing ok at L wing back but USA was attacking down his side over and over and Hart replaced him with Justin Hoyte and completely patched the hole. More important to stop those dangerous crosses by USA from the right. Briliant move. Hoyte may have just proven again how super solid he is. High standard of competition in T&T defense. When Carlisle Mitchell cyah get he spot back as centre back, then daiz depth. Hart knew that the time to fight all out for 6 points is against St.Vincent coming up next in March, ent? Overall good 4 points. No loss against our nemesis USA is a victory for the old wounds of yesteryear still being carried by doubtful citizens.
Now you is a man with some sense. Well said. All some people can see is just this game alone. They don't understand looking ahead and planning a strategy to win the war and not just a battle. The goal is World Cup Qualification. Not beating USA and then having a party.

You know its funny. A lot of people bumping dey gum about how we play and we shoulda win. It was not so long ago we couldn't even compete with the States and everybody would have expected to LOSE. Four points from our first two games. Take that and hush allyuh mouth eh. It coulda be zero.
i never think or loses hope on my country men never did and I will not..even went other  🇹🇹criticize me a lot about the team and their play I attended mostly all their game here in the state

Sensible to decide to play for a draw,Klinsman already say he'll be happy with a point,I'm sure Hart feels the same way.A draw suits both teams.

WE need 3 points from all our home games. Should not settle for just 1 pont!!
i totally agree...you have a chance to go for the win...damn🇹🇹
I mean I agree you should go for the win, but you guys have to realize this is a marathon and not a sprint. Look at the bigger picture here. We got 4 points from two games after playing the harder teams in the group. Now we have to play the easiest team (on paper) in back to back matches. Trying to Kill USA now and run the risk of losing isn't worth it at this point in time. The next two games are way more important and we could basically put ourselves in the next round after those games. Is St Vincent we need to kill. That will be a solid 6 points.

big big 3 points, the road to red square just got a little closer, and Guatemala's goal was a gift from tnt, nobody tackle nobody move, now on to the biggest game ever in the history of tnt football...

Do you have any idea how wrong that statement is.....lol. In more ways than I can count.

I think you have to give Hart the credit he deserves. He has taken a broken down, fixer upper of a team and transformed them into a fighting  unit. Especially considering the mess of an organisation the TTFA is, he's had a lot of obstacles to overcome. Hopefully , the warriors can get the proper financial, administrative and fan support they need to make the push for Russia. And let's not forget our female warriors either.

Seriously Mexico owes us an apology for all those bottles and ice they rain down on our players. Like WTF??? They come to TNT and we treat them in the best way and take our losses with no hard feelings then they do this.
That's why they get that last goal in dey tail. INSTANT KARMA!!!

For the life of me I cannot comprehend why we waste so many corners when men like KJ and Abu Bakr in the box :frustrated:
Set pieces have always been one of T&T's weakest points. To this day, we have never had a free kick specialist the likes of Beckham or Pirlo. Something they really need to work on.

Watch football matches live, multiple leagues and competitions gofirstrow.eu. I recommend that you install adblock plus browser extension for both Google Chrome and Firefox to deal with all the annoying pop ups. Its not HD quality but its very watchable. If the game is not in English just select a different link.

Just taking a little SATISFACTION in watching Ecuador being completely obliterated by Switzerland. They shouldn't even be there. Still upset about T&T not making it  :pissedoff:. That's life sometimes. You don't always get what you deserve. Ecuador however, is getting EXACTLY what they deserve  ;D

Yes...let's here your explanation of the so called support yuh talking bout. Cause either you blind, don't live in Trinidad and Tobago or haven't been following the women's national team until that game on Tuesday.

For starters there is the fallacy that the players were sent to [the CONCACAF 2015 World Cup Qualifying Tournament] with only $500... particularly the implication that they were expected to somehow get by on just that for the duration of the tournament.  The $500 was meant to cover transportation from the airport upon arrival, and then breakfast the following morning.  More finances were intended and was already in the works, it was not a last-minute something that came about as a result of Walrdum's hasty tweet.  He knew of this plan all along but thought all the money would come with the team, panicked... and here we are.

Not sure who the "powers that be" are, but there are different stakeholders, who put a varying amount of effort and support behind our sporting programs.  Not sure that the issue of the $500 is representative of any deliberate actions by the collective stakeholders.  There certainly is apathy, opportunism and malaise resident in certain quarters, but not sure that's true of the whole.

As stated, the women's program receives just about the same support as our other programs, there is no gender discrimination with regards to the aforementioned ills... those who are indifferent to the women's program are similarly indifferent to the men's program, the U-20 program, the U-17... it's equal opportunity apathy.  As I said, the ladies are as supported as any of the other programs... even among the fans.
OK children let's do some maths! This will be fun. No. 1 "More finances were intended and was already in the works" =  Unprepared for a world cup qualification tournament. Unprofessional, embarrassing, inexcusable. No.2 "the women's program receives just about the same support as our other programs = almost next to nothing + never enough. That's why the captain had to say at the press conference that money needs to START being put into women's football. And No. 3 "Not sure who the "powers that be" are" = either you support the "powers that be" and playing dumb or you need your head examined. Probably both. All them things you say dey reminds me of a saying. Oh yes. Don't piss on my back and tell me the rain is falling. Yup. That's the one.

November 19th all over again. My heart breaks for the players and the coaching staff. I won't critique any decisions made by the coach or players on the field. When you play a game like this...all bets are off. However...I find myself thinking back to the female warriors going to the Concacaf women's championships with $500 dollars. That one incident is a real reflection of how the "powers that be" treat not only football but sports in general in this country. And then after all the struggle, the fight and the blood, sweat and tears the athletes give... "they" jump in at the end with some "presents" to save face and make themselves look good. Success doesn't just happen. Sure, the team worked hard, were determined and had belief in themselves, but they were never given the best chance to succeed being given the support, financial and otherwise, that our rich with natural gas country could provide. Same old story, same sad result. I'm sorry these ladies, are not appreciated as they should be.

I hope you realize that none of this is not actually what happened... the ladies are as supported at any of the other programs, lack of resources notwithstanding.  Very proud of the ladies.

Care to explain that?

We took the Jamaicans to pk's in a final at the office...that in itself is an accomplishment. Any team that goes there face an uphill task...jamaica stuck to their plan....close down Peltier,  Molino and Jones. ..they did...technically they were better. Sad to lose, yes! But forever positive....we qualify for the Gold cup...made it to the finals...and held our own...well done warriors!

Wasn't at de Office. Was in Montego Bay.
Wait....wait...wait. Taking JAMAICA to a penalty shootout is an accomplishment? WHAT! Are we going in reverse here? Winning (not qualifying for) the Gold cup = accomplishment. Qualifying for a world cup = accomplishment. What happened in that game = embarrassment! First off, the Soca warriors played garbage and Jamaica still needed penalties to beat them. Doesn't say much for Jamaica if you ask me  Second, we didn't take them to a penalty shootout. You making Jamaica sound like Argentina or something. If T&T showed any of the quality that they are cable of, they would be champions right now. It was one of the worse games I've seen them play under Hart. And third...KJ......oh lord...just typing his initials gives me a headache. Please sir. Ah begging. Just learn to control the ball. Just a little bit. Please. PLEASE.
