Football / Re: Thread for the T&T vs Haiti Game (06-Nov-10).
« on: November 06, 2010, 10:59:08 PM »
Saw the first round of games in this group. Hati and Grenada were not that good so not surprising that we have won the group. The team has definitely showed some structural and technical improvements going forward. Too many players still lack a first touch. Defensively we need to improve. Overall it was important to come out of this group first and do it convincingly. Step in the right direction but still lots of work to do.

We need a defensive CM badly.

In true TRINI fashion we give up a goal at the end. They have heart but no technical nor tactical ability. They remind me of the kind of football the strike squad used to play....boom kick

LOL...Godfather you looking fuh trouble whole night boy.

I'm calling it like I see it. I would change my opinion on this team if someone can show me a period in the game the team put 5 passes together even if it was while in defense.

Tiny mite real saving... ah next big save

you seeing?

Gordfadder yuh go get up wit ah horse head in yuh bed wit dat kinda talk
"never go against the family"

The Keeper having a great game and we have taken an excellent chance we got but the team is playing shit. Count 5 good passes in a row going forward and let me know. They have no plan going forward, ball control is lacking and defending without a clue. Our left back is a liability.

Sorry to say but these young girls are as bad as the men's team. No organization or game plan going forward. If you look at Ghana they seem to know what they are about.

I don't want to say that it's Hyland who is unhappy but rather his agent. He was happy to get Hyland a multi year contract but now is unhappy his client can't move because it will cost him a big commission. We know he's not worth 7 million but the team he's currently with has invested time and money in him and his price tags says NOT FOR SALE.

great to see some parity in the league year after year. Never know for sure who's going to win. Connection is definitely struggling this year. Shocked that Public get 3 from Defence Force. Yes DF is the front runner this year which is great after they looked real sub standard last season.

I doubt that the MLS would offer him 20,000 a month and I'm sure as shitty as he is now he'll get that in England. They probably offered him less than a 100K a year and that would be disrespectful to him. Anyone know what they were paying Darren Huckerby or even Freddie Lunjberg.

Despite the 2-1 victory W Connection looks nothing like the side of the past two seasons. They played very scrappy and only because South End could not put much together on the attacking end that Connection were able to come away with a victory.

South End did take the lead through a well taken goal in the first half but they played so erratic that a goal from Connection was always on the cards. Connection did equalize from a brilliant freekick by Pacheco and the pressure was too much for South End who finally cracked in the last five minutes for Connection to score the go ahead goal.

Overall this was a poor performance by both teams made worse by some poor officiating by the refree the the female linesman in particular. The refree failed to take control of the game and allowed too many cynical fouls to go with out cards.

Judging by Rogier's reactions during the game he has high expectations from his team but based on what I saw from South End if Rogier does not lower his expectations he'll cause himself to get a heart attack. He seemed very frustrated by the play of his team and to be honest his players seem to lack tactical ability.

Attendance was about 100 people. A little music at half time but no real fanfare at Ato Boldin stadium.

A note about the effective marketing and advertising strategy used by the league. I live about a 3 minute drive from Manny Ramjohn stadium and to date I have seen any form of advertising and marketing in the area for upcoming season or games.

Thanks to this web site I have been reminded about the double header tomorrow and will be most present.

I will wish the guy well but have to question his decision to join Joe Public against the MLS.

Is it that he's not good enough for the MLS or is it that Jack has promised the to get him a contract in Europe. If his desire is Europe I would understand not signing for the MLS who are not big on letting their players leave for Europe.

I look forward to having a look at this player when the season kicks off.

Football / Re: New Caribbean league created for clubs
« on: March 27, 2010, 07:32:34 AM »

Caribbean officials needed the United Soccer Leagues—the largest organization of elite-level soccer in North America, but which also oversees leagues in Canada and the Caribbean—to agree to the creation of the new competition.

Can anyone explain why there is a need for the USL to approve such a venture? What if they see it as a threat to their US leagues, then what?

Football / Re: Skeene: League poised for another exciting season

I am really going to pay attention this season to what the league will be doing to increase attendance and awareness. Last year they were barely visable and communicating with the public was almost non existent.

Hope I don't see another game where Tobago United show up with less than 16 players.

Football / Re: Pro clubs must take charge.
« on: February 02, 2010, 06:59:00 AM »
Totall Agree. I don't think that the League nor the clubs operate with any business plan in place. The evidence is shown by the lack of marketing for the league. I do think it is possible for there to be Professional Football in Trinidad but there has to be a sound plan in place for it to work. Like all the other leagues in the world history will show that it will take many years before the league will be self sufficient so there needs to be a long term financial plan in place to address. It is my belief that the league needs to operate somewhat like the MLS did when it started. Though the teams in Trinidad are all independently owned there needs to be a joint plan in place for Marketing and Advertising to spread the cost for all to benefit.

If only we as Trinidadians would live by our moto we can be so successful at anything.

TOGETHER WE ASPIRE TOGETHER WE ACHIEVE.

« on: January 28, 2010, 08:37:30 PM »
Look for Stern in the T&T PFL next season. Don't think he'll get another contract in England nor the USA.

Stern John and Marvin Andrews will be the two big star names in the PFL next season. Might do the league some good to have these experienced players play alongside the local playeres

17
LIVERPOOL SHOULD FIRE BENITAZ IMMEDIATELY IF HE TRIES TO CONVINCE THEM TO BUY JONES.

I would call a loan deal for the rest of the season a big gamble for them but a big OPPORTUNITY for Kenwyne.

If you are a Liverpool fan you should be worried about the direction your manager is going. The man is not a motivator and Kenwyne need a coach who can really get him to step up and show this POTENTIAL that they say he has.

Looking at the home page. 500 players screened for National U15. Why is there a need to continuously screen so many players at this age level when there is school and club football for this purpose.

Is there currently a National teams at the U11-U14?

Coache you are right though. Implementation is the biggest problem at almost every level in Trinidad

There needs to ba a total overhaul of fotball in Trinidad and Tobago and thsi starts with the Administration and their relationship with the Government. For such a small nation the Government has to play a pivotal part in the development of the sport. The divide between the Gov't and the TTFF is by far the biggest problem in our football at every level.

The reason it seems likethe local players take a long time to develop is because they don't get into the correct football coaching structures until late in their teens.

There is talent and potential in T&T but if we were to revamp and start over it will take time to bear fruit and everyone needs to be patient for it to happen. Lack of patience is also one of our problems.

Football / Re: The reality of world football....can we really compete ??
« on: December 23, 2009, 12:46:03 PM »
when countries have a population of 16,000,000 (Cameroon) and 20,000,000 (Ivory Coast) and football is yuh main sport and also throw in the fact that the countries are dirt poor and football is a way out. We cant compete with that with our 1.2 million people and relative affluency. Sometimes I think we punch way above our weight for the amount of professional players we produce,

Very good point. This is my take on the rise of the African nations. Over the years African's have been migrating to European countries and starting famalies. These kids grow up in these countries especially France and are exposed to a higher level of fotball from a younger age. In the years of Zidane, Viera the african Nations were not very competitive so these playes choose to play for their adoptive countries. There are only so many spots available on these European countries teams and fierce competition to play for them. This has led many players to choose their home countries if they are ever to have a chance to play in the World Cup.

If Drogba was not over looked when he was much younger he would be on the French national team. J Lloys Samuel thought he might have had an England shot and when that door finally closed he decided to play for T&T.

The Caribbean ppl migrate to the USA when football is still in it's early years as a pro sport. I would not be surprised if 20 years from now we have a better group of players who would come out of the USA football system. Locally we will continue to produce only one real special player every few years and if he's that special he'll be off our shores by 17.

« on: December 22, 2009, 06:20:37 AM »
Toussaint did not perform this past season and Elijah was one of Connection's best and MOST Consistent players.

Connection's decision makes sence. At the end of the day Professional football is still a business and you can't give contracts just because. Playes have to earn their contracts.

Football / Re: 2009 reveals steady growth for Pro League
« on: December 18, 2009, 05:19:50 AM »
TOTAL BS.

There has been no increase in marketing and advertising. The league is barely visable to the majority of the population.

Over the course of the season I did not see any steady or noticable increase in attendance at games in South Trinidad.

I do think the quality of the football has improved.

Football / Re: Baptiste on trial?
« on: December 16, 2009, 06:49:49 AM »
Don't expect much to come out of this trial. I was very impressed by his performances this season but he does not have the physical frame to play in England nor does he have exceptional speed to compensate for it. I expect to see him playing in the PFL next season but I wish him all the best on his trial. If Jake Thmpson can play in England Kerry might just have a chance.

Godfather, I am going to assume you're fairly new...seeing your 20 posts...so word of advice...look out for the sarcasm, otherwise dem fellas going to introduce you to the now infamous Davy Jenny Award.

On a another note, Travis just reaping what he sow when he was a player.  There was hardly a more indisciplined player...passionate about his game, but lacking discipline nevertheless.

Thanks for the heads up but wasn't trying to be sarcastic. Being new I guess I got the quoting thing wrong so it might have seemed like I was mocking the previous writer.
Thanks for the heads up.

Right after Shaka replace Camps
[/quote]

IT would be nice to see this happen but very unlikely anytime soon. Having only recently started his new career it's unlikely that he will drop it, uproot his family and move back to trinidad any time soon. Now him being a special advisor to who ever T&T can find to replace Camps sounds very possible.

I do fully support the Shaka Hislop for TTFF President.

Joe Public 9 vs Police 1
If I'm not mistaken Kerry scored 4 and Tinto 3. Police were no match. Score was 3-0 at the half. The police wing backs went home with broken ankles after being left on the floor time after time.

W Connection 0 vs Ma Pau 2 (I left with 5 minutes left)
Connection looked a shade of themselves and the game was very even. Ma Pau always looked like they would be the ones to score and took their chances well. Very impressive display by them proving that their 1-0 defeat of Connection two weeks ago was no fluke.

Where is the Government in all of this?

Is the TTFF totally seperate from the Government?

« on: November 18, 2009, 09:02:05 PM »
Last year I say him play one game and he looked impressive. This season he looked less than impressive but probably because Naps lost some of their players so teams focussed more on him a lot more. I will say this he does have potential, he very strong on the ball and has a good touch but he seems disintrested in the game at times. I feel like this season he played just to have something to do. We'll see how he looks when the Pro League gets going next season. I can't class him with the likes of Yorke, Sampson, Sherwood. Just have not seen him performing at a high level consistently even though he gets the goals he doesn't seem to be a game changer.
