The girls have really played their hearts out and thankfully the coach and the TTFA , Ministry seem to be putting the right things in place. But reinforcements are definitely needed... Few of the subs added anything to the team( whether because of injury or otherwise).Jonelle Warrick would definitely be a good addition since she can play At different positions and has experience being a member of the U17 World Cup Team .Waldrum seems contented to stay with the current group, hoping that everybody will recover from their injuries. There is a rumour that Mama, De Leon , Candace Edwards and Jasmine Sampson are being considered .Let' just hope we are third time lucky and that the team continues to believe!

Congratulations to our ladies ! So far so good ! These girls know that the real test begins tomorrow Hopefully , they will show that their victories were based on their readiness and not because the opposition was poor . I feel it for Warrick (#17 ) whose penalty  goal was controversially disallowed . She is probably the most deadly striker on the team( having lead all scorers in the TT Women's League last year )but has been asked to marshall the defense . We should have scored many more goals yesterday , having taken 24 shots . The girls have done well so far but need to be more clinical and know that Mexico won't allow 24 shots .Go brave Princesses .Continue to Make us proud !! :)

None of the senior girls are on the U-20 team ,so they are not in camp . Mollon is not part of the team at present .There are one or two girls that are still out of the country .The girls just don't appear to be too motivated so they train when they feel to or are able to .The majority of them know that they will be on the team whether they train hard or not at all .

The girls have begun training 3-4 times a week. However , an average of about 7 players attend each session .Min. of Sp[orts , Anil Roberts seems to be part of the technical staff now , working on the team's fitness .The whole set-up looks like a joke .The team was scheduled to play an American University team (male ) two days ago but could not field a team .
The U-20 team is currently in camp , training twice daily .Camp will break on the weekend . :-[

Those who do not follow women's football in T&T are expectedly shocked at the mauling we received from the U.S and Canada .But, have we ever done well at CONCACAF U-17 Level ? To my knowledge, the least we ever conceded from America was 5, last year .Prior to that ,it was 9, right here in Trinidad .Marlon Charles was the assistant coach then ,having led the team to the finals .Mr. Charles and Izler were also in charge of almost all of our U-20 teams since 2003........with similar results. Why are these people still coaching our National Teams .Clearly , they are not up to the task .Mr. Charles boasted that he had this team for two years , and that they were different ...and he probably had these girls actually believing that they could beat the U.S. by playing ultra-defensively with no organization . Now , their bubble has been burst...and some are ready to quit football .
I am not saying that local coaches like Marlon ,Izler , Steve Frederick and Shabazz have not sacrificed and served T&T faithfully over the last decade .But , rather, that they are not good enough and should be replaced .The only team that looked fit and competitive was the U-17 team coached by Pellerud ...he too had the team for two years .Did these local perrenial coaches learn anything from him ? I doubt it.
The girls programme gets very little $ in comparison to the Men's ,but when our young ladies sacrifice their time to train 3-4 times a week over a two year period ,they should at least be fitter and more organized .
Our girls played their hearts out, followed their coach's plan and were beaten badly .What kind of experience was that .Our current U-20'S have not been training for long ....their coach has not coached any team (club) for some time ( like Marlon ).......what can we expect ?  Maybe another Steven Hart might make a difference ???

Had the opportunity to see the Debe team in action on Tuesday in Caton Park , Brooklyn against a team hastily put together to give the girls an opportunity to showcase themselves .They gave a decent showing ,with Kayla Taylor , Arjoon  and Stephanie Beam standing out for Debe . The other team also had a handful of past and present National Youth team players on their roster with Jonelle Warrick and Malique Assoon having outstanding games .That game ended in a nil -nil draw . I believe Debe will be taking on Alfie's Soccer Academy tomorrow ( Saturday ) at 6.30pm on Field #11 in Caton Park , Brooklyn .If anyone  can get college scouts or coaches to  have a look at the girls tomorrow ,that would be a plus .  :) :) :)

WOLF HAS A FACEBOOK PAGE ( TT WOLF ) .There are lots of pictures and results of games played so far there .The Premier Division is scheduled to begin on May 11th .I am not sure if the fixtures are posted there though , but teams do have their schedule . Can anyone say what is the average salary in the W league ?

Football / Re: 2012 Women Football League Thread.
« on: April 30, 2012, 08:00:42 PM »
The difference between the First Division and the Premier Division has to do with how long the teams have been playing WOLF football not the quality of the teams . Real Dimension and Malick City should be decent since both teams usually have a great number of current national and former national women in their ranks .Trincity Nationals has a few current U-17 players and some former U-20 players in their line up so they should be competitive as well . The army is usually a hard running team , but normally do not have technically sound players . U.W.I Ladies is probably the weakest of all the Premier teams and were in fact surprised to find out that they were in this Division .Sweaters were supposed to be in the Premier Division also but opted out .There is talk that another Tobago team might be added to the Premier Division with Cordner , Candace Edwards and the Forbes sisters in its line up  .Nobody knows the reason why players like Mollon , Watson,Mathlin and Cummings of Rangers have decided to play in the " lower " Division but I suspect they may be getting some form of incentive . Who knows ?

At present there are two teams in training, an under -15 team and the under - 17 team that played against Canada . Both the senior team and the under-20 team were knocked out of their competitions last year . It has been rumored that the senior team started to train recently but I am not sure if this is true . Schmidt , Jones , Deleon and Omardeen are all in college .Lewis is in T & T .Not sure what's going on with her. Borneo is still doing rehab. work in Trinidad. Leanna Hinds is on the present team . I think the Warrick that's on this team is Jonelle Warrick ( who was also on the World Cup team ) She had an excellent game against the Canadians .

Football / Re: Canada Women's U-17 team travels to Trinidad and Tobago
« on: April 01, 2012, 11:55:28 PM »

I saw the second game against Canada yesterday. We lost 3- nil . The Canadians were fitter , faster, stronger and very composed on the ball , electing to move the ball around in their half until they could find an opening against our girls whose instructions it appeared, were to sit back in our half  and defend in numbers .For the most part this worked. Our girls did try to put some passes together whenever they won the ball , but a lack of composure and their speed of play resulted in regular turnovers .Our lone striker rarely touched the ball . Canada scored off of a corner and the second goal was as a result of some indecision in the defense . 2-nil Canada at the half .
The second half saw Canada pushing more players forward, recognising that our girls had no real plan of scoring on them . 3.4 and 5 Canadians regularly found themselves free between our midfield and defense lines .When we did win the ball , it was kick and hope for some relief as no player was willing to go forward to support the lone striker ,who was neither quick ,strong on the ball or very skillful .By about the 75th. minute our girls looked spent but continued to fight to retrieve the ball from the Canadians who had increased the score to 3-nil after a fine solo effort . Two of our girls were injured during the match and had to be replaced ( the left back ...who played forward in game one , and the right back . ) Overall the team looked horrible in attack , but not too bad defensively . There is definitely need for the technical staff to find some quality players to add to this team as the bench looks very weak . Pellerud's long ball , direct style ,at present , does not look too promising with this group of girls (They seemed very frustrated with their efforts .) Lets hope the tours to Costa Rica and Florida make our girls' team a more competitive one .

« on: January 08, 2012, 09:22:54 PM »
It would be great if we could still qualify ,but I am not holding my breath . The preparation of this group was poor .Many times there were only 7 or 8 players practising, if you can call it that . Any surprise then, that the team lacked organization , aggression or cohesiveness ( according to Coach Marlon ).The coach also complained about the girls' poor passing and poor technique.I have counted at least 7 starters in this game that were on the 2010 Under-17 World Cup squad, and 3 more on the bench . Pellerud may not be the most popular coach with his direct style of play, but at least he was able to mold the girls into a fighting unit that beat teams far better than Puerto Rico .The old regime of people like Marlon Charles , Izzler and company are a recipe for failure .

Soccer 19 , most of the nominees, if not all in other sports, are people who have achieved some / more success than others in their field .When it comes to our Senior National Women'S team , I know of only three players whose performances have attracted foreign professional clubs ; Mollon , Mascall and Cordner . There may be others but I am not aware of them .Mollon and Mascall played in Iceland last year, while Cordner played in Australia .All three were also regular fixtures on the National Senior Women's team.To me, Mollon always stands out more than the others .Thats just my opinion .Best of luck to whoever is selected .

Congrats to the youth !! I know he was with Defence Force as a youth and then Jabloteh up to early last year .But he has been unattached since . I saw him with Trincity Nationals in Eddie Hart League couple times this year and he looked good ,lots of pace playing up front . Thankfully, he has an agent who seems to be working for him ,so even though he was not in the limelight , his ability and his agents tact ,has come through for him . Best of luck to him !!

trinity cross , having time to prepare is one thing , what you do in that time is another . Shabazz had the u-20's in camp from november to january , training twice a day . He boasted that the team was fit ,aggressive and full of passion . When we saw the team play in Guatemala , they could not string 4 or 5 passes together and resorted to kick and run. On the team's return ,Shabazz blamed the girls lack of fitness for their performance.
In June , the senior team , after training for more than a month, went to a watered down CAC games in Venezuela. There was no Mexico, no Costa Rica , no El Salvador and of course no USA or Canada .Still we could not win..losing to Venezuela and Haiti and finishing second. That was the best group then according to Shabazz .
So here we go again . This team will be in training for a little less than a month before it goes to Mexico. Shabazz is boasting about having the best team in terms of 'technical skill and intensity' which suggests that there will be new people added to this team. But when you look at the invitees..who is new ?
Mollon and some others who can make a difference have lost faith in the technical staff and appear to have voiced their opinions so now are 'not considered '. So what best team Shabazz talking about.
I don't know if you mr. trinity cross , have ever gone to Shabazz and Marlon's session but I have seen them in action time and time again over the last decade with the majority of these girls .With another technical staff ,these girls  ,I am sure will perform better. But with Shabazz and his clique of jokers...waste of time . Even Pellerud needs to act like the technical director he was appointed to be and get rid of all those coaches who are underachieving...starting with JAMAAL and MARLON .I am hoping he will do that when he returns from his vacation so that we can once again see our girls true potential . >:( >:( >:( >:(

These girls making the whole of T&T proud ,..who know about women 's football and who never see girls play yet .Nearly half the team is 15 years old and yet they playing with such maturity . We may not have the best players or the best team but these girls have heart , passion , and are willing to give their all for our country  .The least we can do is compliment their effort .

Well, first of all congrats to the girls for finally winning something . :)
But really, a watered down competition minus the likes of Mexico , Costa Rica , El Salvador and Jamaica ,the teams that we almost always lose to and we can't win  ??? ??? even after more than a month's preparation .This coach is a  waste of time !!! And why is there no mention of our only professional and best player ...Darcelle Mollon ? I am sure I read that she played in the game against Nicaragua, scoring 2 goals .What happened to her after that ? I saw a picture of her on the bench for the second and most important game against Venezuela, according to Shabbaz . Was she injured ?And why did she not play in the other games ? My understanding is that se returned to Trinidad before the competition was finished . I wonder why and hope that our technical director investigates this fully >:( >:(

Everyone can play in the Eddie Hart League, including the pros . As a matter of fact real pros got fined because of the attraction of Eddie Hart Football .But , that aside , I am sure more than half the pros passed through Eddie Hart football at some point ,whether as a youth or as an adult . It's leagues like Eddie Hart that produce the talent for the pro league to build on .
Eddie Hart league has been running for 44 years now on mostly promises from previous governments . The man has been begging all over the place , year after year for sponsorship to keep the league going , to keep the youths off the street , to give every aspiring footballer the chance to shine . If you pass by that savannah any night from late August to December, and see the large amount of people supporting football you would understand why ROBERTS VOWS TO ASSIST EDDIE HART LEAGUE FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS . 8) 8) 8)

I believe we were an unknown entity to both the Koreans and the Brazillians and so surprised them both in the first games .Having seen us though , both teams were able to expose our weaknesses in both speed of play and tactical awareness . I have seen tapes of the korean tour and also witnessed our girls against local opposition, namely , our senior women . They play with a lot of heart , energy and aggression but can be a bit wild at times . I am sure they gave their best in the second game against the Brazillians but sometimes your best is not good enough if the opposition is better than you . The draw against Brazil was good for their confidence just as the 7-1 thrashing was important in showing up some of their weaknesses . Hopefully Pellerud and his assistant Richard Hood , will have them ready for Chile in September .

I know a little about three of the girls on the team currently in camp ; Camille Borneo , Patrice Campbell and Jonelle Warrick . Borneo plays for El Dorado 'Blue Thunder' . She also represented Joe Public Women's team two  years ago . She is 17 .She hails from Arima .She is a decent  central defender. She is the captain of the  u-17s at present .                                                                                                                                   Patrice Campbell also attends El Do and also played for Joe Public two years ago . She lives in Five Rivers .Patrice plays forward and can strike the ball pretty well .She is also a good reader of the game .She is not ,however , a very technical player . She is 16.
Jonelle Warrick attends Bishop Anstey East in Trincity .She plays for Trincity Nationals Women's team . She lives in Trincity .Jonelle is a utility player .She plays anywhere in defense or mid-field . She can strike the ball powerfully with both feet, is quick ,skillful and reads the game extremely well . The last time I saw her ,she was playing at left back for the U-17s. She is 15. :) :)

Football / Re: Officials: Delay in women’s league frustrating.
« on: June 05, 2010, 01:00:31 AM »

Well said Elan ,Shabazz really has no shame , saying that ' it's a pleasure to be given the opportunity to organize a Competition for the women . ' He was part of the organizing commitee last year together with Keith Look loy and about four women .When all the coaches and managers were lambasting the women's executive for the poor state of women's football, they were quick to say ' That was in the past ' Now a year later they are more disorganized than ever.So now after wasting May and June , they plan to have a 'COMPETITION ' in July and August . In July , the national senior team will be at the CAC Games. They will probably be in camp in the weeks leading up to that. That eliminates about 25 or 30 of our best players .In August , the Under 15s will be heading off to Singapore to the Olympics .They will probably be banned from representing their clubs as well .And then there is the under 17 world cup team whose players will not be playing . So almost all the teams that played last year will be fielding second or third string teams, that is if they do decide to play in this ' mickey mouse ' league .Why wasn't the elected /selected committee mandated to run the league ? I have heard that almost the entire committee is involved in the U17 world cup .If this is true , shouldn't a new committee have been elected? Oh! I forgot ...this is Trinidad and Tobago football . :-\ :-\

Stern John Skills Award is not a coaching school. It is a programme that targets primary school boys and girls . It is funded by Stern John and the Government and coordinated by Mary Siu butt , Neville Chance and Muhammad Isa .
Schools all over the country are invited to participate. The programme involves paid coaches working in selected schools ,preparing the kids to compete in ball juggling, dribbling , passing and receiving ,  attacking and defending , 4 v 1 and small sided games .Prizes are given out to individual as well as overall school winners. The programme has been around for about 7 years now and every year new schools enter .Brendon Creed and Jonelle Warrick are the two most outstanding youngsters to have passed through the programme.Creed set records in the ball juggling (3000+) while Warrick won all the categories (including goalkeeping ) in back to back years . It is the only programme where coaches actually go out to schools and and help to develop fundamental skills In football .Big up to Stern!!! :) :) :)

Football / Re: T&T women footballers tangle in Arima today
« on: March 23, 2010, 02:51:54 PM »

The u-17s came out pressing and scored early against a flat-footed , static defense...Lewis collecting and and firing unchallenged . From then onwards the u-17s seemed contented with their lead and relied on the occasional counterattack. The seniors were therefore able to have the majority of possession although they kept giving the ball away needlessly. It was clear that they were better technically and tactically on an individual basis but as a team there was no apparent plan . Cordner scored two goals in quick succession , largely due to her pace which none of the u-17s could match . Her third goal was a header off of a corner to which the u-17s defence did not mark or track well.
The second half saw the u-17s pressing once again while the seniors went into relax mode .With about 20 minutes remaining , Shabazz emptied his bench, replacing the keeper ,the right and left backs, the right and left midfielders and the two forwards. With the exception of the goalkeeper (Adana  Hume ) and an under 15 player (that looked better than some of he u-17s ) ,all of the subs were members of the u-20 squad that played in Guatemala recently .
The game deteriorated as it went on with neither team really having the upper hand .Lewis was able to score very late when she collected, turned and fired ,unchallenged from about 40m out , catching the keeper close to the top of the box .
The seniors are supposed to regroup one week before their next round .If their performance is the same, we shouldn't get our hopes up too high . :-\

The defenders took no chances , opting for one time clearances throughout the game ( with the exception of Mims), who showed some composure . The midfielders were not much different , trying to find the forwards with quick hopeful, long balls , the majority of which was won by the Mexicans . The girls did show a lot of effort and aggression though . Generally, the girls looked too programmed to kick the ball forward early .Very little composure or initiative seen . ???

Nnyman , if you and Elan want to be a part of T@T'S women's programme , take a lil vacation from the U.S. and come down Trini .Go down to U.W.I.  and hang around Marlon and Shabazz for a few sessions. Throw back the ball when it come off the field ....get close and personal .The next thing you know , they will give you a coaching jersey and some kind of title...equipment manager, goalkeeper coach, assistant coach...depending on how much tickets they getting for the next trip.Your experience , and qualifications are a threat to these fellows . They only want yes men and women around them . They are not interested in improving the women's game . It's always the same jokers around our girls....Marlon 's partners.....Shabazz partners .Some of them never coach no team , but is " goalkeeper coach " . We have Pellerud now  ( because we hosting the World Cup ) but people done saying that's as long as he might last .

Triple Threat , Triple Threat, Triple Threat.......man...I am sorry ! Please accept my apology for any mis information that I posted related to Taylor Mims and Arin King in particular .It was never my intention to discredit these girls or any of the other girls on the team for that matter. I was simply responding to Soccer 19's comment (#70 ) which  basically said  that many of the girls on this team were on scholarship, and therefore were good. Your research has indicated that 2 or 3 of the girls are in fact on some kind of scholarship so therefore , the majority of the team is not . I never said that the foreign based girls played in the SSFL or WOLF ,that was your interpretation .I accept that I did not have all my facts straight but , I was just trying to say that too much should not be expected of the girls based on their preparations , their experience , Shabazz's comments ( the team is not as talented as those  in the past ), the team's performance against Mexico and what people like you yourself said on this forum ( post#65 ....the skill level of t@t was suspect .) My issue lies with Shabazz and Marlon who continue to lead our ladies despite continuously failing, not the ladies .
Now I  hope that you are man enough to admit your bits of misinformation  regarding the other girls who are in fact on scholarships at Murray State, Concordia University , Georgia Court and Bryant @ Stratton College . Maybe you did not take the time to research the kinds of institutions that do give them .Many of our girls have attended junior colleges in the past....on scholarship ,so get your facts straight .
our sources are not always reliable .We learn that through experience . So whoever fed  you information on the other girls and the kinds of schools that offer scholarship is not a good source . I will comment no more on this scholarship issue but will continue to push for the removal of deadweights like Shabazz and Marlon who have made their contribution but must now move on .
GO T@T....SHOW THEM WHAT YOU'VE GOT.!!! :praying:
