Football / Re: Is being a defender better for Kenwyne Jones?
« on: October 20, 2013, 05:44:39 PM »
I've heard on many occasions that Kenwyne  Jones was initially a defender. He is tall and powerful, jumps well, and has the speed that any decent right back should have. After watching the match on Tuesday and observing Kenwyne for a number of years, I wonder if a return to the back-line is something he and Mr Hart should consider seriously.
For all his attributes, Kenwyne seems to be missing the one thing that would make him a great striker. Finishing prowess. It's a part of his game that's inconsistent to say the least, most evident by his constant difficulty in finishing one on one chances at club and international level. Chances that any true striker would put away blind folded.
Is it his defensive upbringing coming to the surface? Should he consider playing a role like that of David Luiz or Leighton Banes? And if so, who could possibly fill that number 9 shirt as the top goal hunter not to mention that attacking midfield role the team seems to be lacking. Love to hear the comments. Peace.

this post was warranted after the loss to guyana and even before that but what I am seeing from KJ now, hes a changed player, i enjoy him up top and he is earning it... he continues to grow with Hart and I believe he will take us through to 2018 imho...
I actually agree with you. I only brought this up because I heard a lot of fans at the game and online mention it. He may not be world class yet but he's the best we have up front. Also, he's young enough to improve his game to greater heights. He also needs a SS or AM to play off of. Playing hime up front alone isn't helping. Let's hope he has a great season a club level this year.

 :-\

And that is depressing.

Stop Kenwyne and we are dead. Even sadder is he aint even all that!

He needs to be benched. That will stop the long ball cross to him. Not a single header on target.

Kenwyne adds nothing. We need a strikerr who can drop and play in our terrible midfield.

The least allure wagonist could do, is show a little support when allure come showing allure face on the forum. We could do without that negative vibes.

Just being honest brother. Honesty is never negative.

El Salvador was a blown chance.

I think we lost our chance to get out this group when we drew El Salvador.

Honduras isnt going to rest people for our last game because they want to make sure they finish in first. El Salvador will spank Haiti much better than we can too.

If anybody can do the impossible we can though. Lets go!

Heard it here first. Oscar is going to be a flop at Chelsea, and in 2 years time Ganso will be the number 10 for Brazil if Kaka does not make a miraculous recovery.

Denmark should have won.

Why no attempt to win it after they drew level?!?! >:(

I disappointed with them....they showed a lot of times that they could play well against Portugal, but throughout the game it was frustrating to watch them play around and lose the ball as often as they did in crucial areas (defensive AND offensive) of the field.  Portugal realy defended well but Denmark helped them with some untimely poor touches sometimes.

Yeah it was heartbreaking.

What is going on between Lalas and Ballack?

Football / Re: U-20 Soca Princesses resume Concacaf quest.
« on: January 09, 2012, 03:07:28 PM »
It would be great if we could still qualify ,but I am not holding my breath . The preparation of this group was poor .Many times there were only 7 or 8 players practising, if you can call it that . Any surprise then, that the team lacked organization , aggression or cohesiveness ( according to Coach Marlon ).The coach also complained about the girls' poor passing and poor technique.I have counted at least 7 starters in this game that were on the 2010 Under-17 World Cup squad, and 3 more on the bench . Pellerud may not be the most popular coach with his direct style of play, but at least he was able to mold the girls into a fighting unit that beat teams far better than Puerto Rico .The old regime of people like Marlon Charles , Izzler and company are a recipe for failure .

The times Pellerud side beat better teams than Puerto rico who was playing? Who, if I remember correctly, dictated play and scored a goal with 3 assists during this world tour? The princess did. We cant judge the results now because Marlon does not have the best piece of what Pellerud was getting his results with. You saw what happen when he bench her doh during the cup eh?

Believe me....The understandings of the basics were always thin except with a select few of that squad.

In de end I wont blame Marlon for this too much. The talent he has to work with, outside of an obvious few(Walker,Abdul,McGee, and Helwig), are simply not good enough against sides who actually come to play team ball. My source from within said he actually told them to long ball it to walker as the only tactic :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hey why didnt dey call up "captain Schmidt"? Surely her bench warming skills at Stanford would have served her well....Or is de yankee completely out of the picture after using us to get her bench warming career jump started? :rotfl: :rotfl:

Anything less than a rout against Guyana, and dey dont deserve to go through.

I like de formation of Stephan de four much more than Pellerud.

He plays to his team strength, and sets objectives before the match that are attainable and easy to follow. He does not panic and change his ideas after 5 minutes just because de other side gets a spell of possession like pellerud do.He'd never bench his best player during an entire world cup just to hide the fact he scouted wrong in training either :-\

I am very much impressed with Anique Walker. Shes a star in the making, and am very impressed how much better shes gotten over the years. De skill was always there, but her speed has improved rather impressively. Leading the attack there is not a u17 striker as feared as she.

Jaggernauth's arrogance will be her, and the defense, undoing. Didnt learn anything from Princess Rehana about defending, even though assistance was offered and accepted. It is easy playing against sides with no offensive power, and maintaining de four's easy back 4 formation, but when pressure comes her lack of composure on de ball will be costly. Swift remains class though.

Midfield looks solid. Giuseppi makes decent runs. might as well mention de overrated debisette sisters since they stay here no matter what formation(or nonformation in pellerud case) is set. PLAYING good against weak opposition..like always ::)

David is decent.

With De four at the helm I expect qualification.

Mr. Warner has always been a fighter. Could not have made it this far without being one, so I dont see that changing now.

That being said I am sure all of those involved in such disputes will at least receive SOME compensation for their work.

Chin up players!
Chin up Mr. Warner!

Mr Warner and princess Rehana circa 2010.
