Jokes / second name for viagra
« on: May 08, 2007, 09:58:07 PM »
In Pharmacology, all drugs have two names, a trade name and generic name
For example, the trade name of Tylenol also has a generic name of
Acetaminophen. Aleve is also called Naproxen. Amoxil is also call
Amoxicillin and Advil is also called Ibuprofen.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful
consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced
that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also
considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of
course, Ibepokin.

Pfizer Corp. announced today that Viagra will soon be available in
liquid form, and will be marketed by Pepsi Cola as a power beverage
suitable for use as a mixer. It will now be possible for a man to
literally pour himself a stiff one. Obviously we can no longer call this
a soft drink, and it gives new meaning to the names of "cocktails",
"highballs" and just a good old-fashioned "stiff drink" Pepsi will
market the new concoction by the name of: MOUNT & DO.

Thought for the day: There is more money being spent on breast implants
and Viagra today than on Alzheimer's research. This means that by 2040,
there should be a large elderly population with perky boobs and huge
erections and absolutely no recollection of what to do with them.

geez, that is madness  :o . looks like they did they whole play.

over here, around hallowe'en you can usually find a cinema that will screen the movie @ midnight - and you can go dressed up as your favourite character. i've never gone myself. don't look good in garters  ;)

Yes, it was the whole play...in the link were just  small parts of the show held by the Original European Rocky Horror cast.  With rice-throwing, shouting out during the show, tiolet paper, water pistols (or buckets of water!!!), dancing, flash lights and what not.  I MISS THEM SO MUCH!!!  Unfortunately, I can't find any copy of the entire (live) show anywhere  :(

By the way, you don't have to look good in garters in order to wear them  :)  Take me as an example...this is how I went, but actually I go a little different every time.  This is just 2 of many pics...

http://s72.photobucket.com/albums/i184/michimausi/RHS/

One thing I've learned throughout the past is not to care what others think about my looks, just as long as I feel comfortable.  I've never been capable of convincing my boyfriend to dress upfor the show, though...maybe someday   ::)

I even went dressed as my leg was in a cast due to a broken foot...as a "reward" the cast signed my crutch after the show      The crutch will be added to my "Rocky Horror wall".  Half of my living room is filled with RH pics, videos, CD's (from different casts like, New Zealand, Mexico, England, Australia, just to name a few), books, postcards, etc...like I said, I'm a RH freak   ::)

3
I'm a capricorn as well...B-Day on December 30th.  I'll be 31.  I'll be taking a drink 2 days in a row...like every year   ::)  Not to forget tomorrow for a fellow Capricorn   ;D   :beermug:   :beermug:

congrats on the job! 6 months is great - just in time for summer  ;D

michi, i lapsing bad. i've been in an old tunes frame of mind for the last few months. in a real rut with just work and more work. yesterday was the shortest day in the year (dec. 21 winter solstice). i'm not in the christmas mood at all. i've been listening to old stuff: kraftwerk, triumph and neil young. i used to like this time of year but that feeling is so distant now. now my life is on a scrap of paper in front me - people to contact, things to do before the year ends, obligations and commitments.

do have a great holiday season - to you and yours!!

Thank you!!  I'm glad I finally have a job again, but towards the end of April I'll be unemployed again.  :(  It's very difficult at the moment to get a job here in Germany...  As happy as I am, I really can't do nothing much with the money I earn...I had planned to visit T&T in the summer, BUT now I have to spend my money for something else...I not only found a job...I also found a new appartment!!!  At the moment I live in a tiny 32 square meter, 2 room appartment (for almost 11 years now   :o ).  I'll be moving into my new appartment in February.  It's an 86 square meter, 4 room, 2 balkonies appartment, on the "Betzenberg" (really close to the Dorint Hotel & the Fritz-Walter-Stadion) with a playground right behind the building...perfect for my son!  I just can't describe how happy I am!!!

I know what you mean with not being in the Christmas mood...I feel the same way.  Christmas time always hits me in a strange kind of way.  I LOVE winter, but Christmas is something different...  I used to love Christmas, but it's become too commercial.  If I didn't have child, I probably wouldn't "celebrate" Christmas at all...  I don't want to ruin it for my son, though.     One thing I will never really understand is why people are only so happy, loving & generous during the Holiday Season (or on days such as Valentine's Day)...I find it pretty hypocritical.  Lovingness & happiness should be a life-style or engagement & not just something you decide to be when you expect a present...Try explaining that to others, though...

Anyhow, if you decide to celebrate Christmas, I don't want to be the one to ruin it for you...I only wanted to express my point of view...  That doesn't mean I wouldn't want to wish anybody a Very Merry Christmas!!!   :beermug: :beermug: :beermug:

Perhaps you should take some vacation...it could work wonders  & put you in the mood you wish to be in again  ;)

Hi!

I'm just curious...is anybody in this forum into the Rocky Horror (Picture) Show?  I'm a total Rocky Horror freak!!!  I've been a fan since I was 14 years old & I used to go see the show at least 1-2 times a year (actually every time the show was held in Saarbruecken, Germany...not so far from Kaiserslautern) on a very regular basis.  Unfortunately the european cast had their final tour this year & their last show in Germany was on Halloween of this year.  A good friend of mine made a bootleg of the show.  :)  Every now & then I actually get really "homesick"...perhaps it also has to do with the fact that I've met the performers & the band more than once in person...that makes the whole thing worse for me.  :(  Anyhow, I've finally managed to find a small video of the show on you-tube.  It's even from the show in Saarbruecken...I was there in the first row...dressed up & all...  :)  Whoever's interested...here's the link:

Jokes / The boss
« on: December 20, 2006, 07:50:36 AM »
The Boss

Back when the human body was created, all body parts wanted to be the boss.

The brain said:  "Since I have the control over all body parts & do the thinking for them, I should be the boss!"

The legs said:  "Since we carry the body wherever it wants to go & follow the instructions given to us from the brain, we have decided that we should be the boss!"

The eyes said:  "Since we always have a look out for the body & all of its parts & always warn you when we see danger coming, we surely have the right to be the boss!"

One after the other, each and every body part tried to find a reason to be the body's boss:  the heart, lungs, hands, etc...

Finally, the asshole insisted it should be the boss!  Everyone laughed and laughed and found the idea of having an asshole as a boss totally absurd!  This made the asshole very angry; so angry that it decided to close.  It decided to pout and resisted to function.

After a while the brain became fever, the eyes were swollen & ached horribly, the legs became week & the hands just dangled around.  Even the heart and the lungs were having a difficult time trying to function adequately.  After they couldn't stand it anymore they all begged the brain to let the asshole be the boss.

And so be it;  all body parts did their jobs while the asshole had nothing better to do than to play "the boss" and just give a lot of shit from himself...

And the moral is:  In order to be a boss, you don't have to be a genius...just an ordinary asshole!  :)

i not only grow up - i done reach old age

25 SIGNS YOU HAVE GROWN UP

25. Your houseplants are alive and you can't smoke any of them.

Hmmm...my plants are dead & I smoke them... ::)

21. You hear your favorite song in an elevator.

never!!!

19. Your friends marry and divorce instead of "hook up" and "break up."

I hardly know anybody who is married nor who plans on getting married...divorces are a waste of time & far too expensive!!!

16. You're the one calling the police because those %&@# kids next door won't turn down the stereo.

yes, how true  :)

10. You take naps.

As long as I can remember, I've always taken naps on a regular basis...perhaps because of #25?!?

5. You actually eat breakfast food at breakfast time.

never have, never will

2. When you find out your friend is pregnant you congratulate them instead of asking, "What the hell happened?"

actually, I ask if I can congratulate BEFORE I congratulate...you never know

Hey!  I know it's been a long time since I've been here, but I'm pretty busy lately.  I have a job again FINALLY!!!  Hooray!  It's only for 6 months, but better than nothing!
So Ribbit, you got the CD...how is it?
had a conversation with a czech coworker a few years back. we came to the conclusion that in both of our cultures there wasn't really a satisfactory means in which to express anger. and probably there are other instincts that do not surface due to society's form. musicians and artists can use this as an opportunity to find ways to express this. but it seems there has to be some larger consequences to this.
Well, actually in the Czech Republic, music such as grind, etc...is pretty wide spread and well-known.  Every year there is a festival in Trutnow where Mindflair has played a few times as well.  It's called "Obscene Extreme", lasts an entire weekend & about 40 bands perform during the festival.  Such music is also broadcasted pretty often in the Czech radios...lucky them.  :)  That's one reason why I believe the east-europeans are so much nicer & happier in general...because they use one of the best and least violent opportunities to express and deal with their anger.

geez ah finally get the cd - it has a cd and dvd. will watch/listen and send some comments out shortly.

however, tonight belongs to primus. just saw them. those guys can play. they seem to like just jamming with les claypool and larry lalonde alternating solos.

they turned american life into something like a 15 minute jam. this was highlight #3. highlight #4 was my name is mud. highlight #2 was a short reggae interlude - never heard them play like this before and it sounded great.

the best highlight was the encore - wynona's big brown beaver. apparently they rarely play this song any more. claypool came out for the encore wearing what looked like one of those safari caps - a bit like selassie - and asked everyone to cuddle up to that special someone.

good show.

That's so cool!!!  You saw Primus!!!  I used to love their music, especially "My Name is Mud" and "Winona's Big Brown Beaver"!!!  Congrats to you for being able to have seen them!  Right now, I'm in my mellow phase (it always hits me around christmas time :) ).  I've been listening to the Pixies quite a lot...  Their music is so peaceful and melodic...the perfect thing for me when I'm in a wintery, romantic mellow kind of mood.  I guess it might have something to do with my b-day coming up...I'm getting old and get the feeling sometimes I should calm down a little...   ::)

and asked everyone to cuddle up to that special someone.

Did you do as you were told?  I'm glad you enjoyed the show!

Hi!  I know it's been quite a while, but I've been busy...and pretty ill for quite a while (am still recovering).  I didn't make any pics that night... sorry.  I am also having a few problems uploading the videos which I've recorded, so I only uploaded 1 song...better than nothing, though.  Here's the link:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_o0Z3XN_aE

Please excuse the sound...it's not the best quality, but I was standing right behind the speaker... ::)

Oh, by the way, there was also a band from east Germany who performed there that night.  Their name is Verge on Reason.  They were absolutely fantastic!!!  Maybe, in the soon future, I will manage to upload all videos of that night...

here's a bit on obeah. i heard a few stories from my parents and relatives. i think there was a thread early on about old time things like this.

will do a review of the CD once i get it.  :waiting:

Ribbit, I've read a little bit about obeah and voodoo in general and must admit, it's very interesting, but nothing I would practice.  I've heard that voodoo always comes around 10 times harder than it was practiced in the beginning...that does tend to frighten me a tiny bit.  But thanks anyway for the information.  :)

Have you recieved your CD yet?

I think Coco is right up to a certain point.  But so is TT...  I see it like this:  There are many different types of abuse.  Many forms of abuse are well-known and others are not so common, or as obvious.  If somebody tells me they have been sexually abused, or have been beaten by their husband, father, or whatnot, I would never ask to see it on a video...no, I would call the police immediately, but if somebody tries to explain to me that a child is being abused (like the one in this case) I would have to be honest & say that I know it's definately not right what they are doing with the kid, but also that I don't really understand how horrible the situation REALLY is, considering how disgusting the situation is also makes it a little difficult to believe (and in order to sue someone, evidence is always essential.  Many forms of abuse can be proven without videos, but not all in my opinion)...In that case a video such as the one shown in this thread is very helpful because you really don't need ANY explanations after watching it...it explains itself better than anybody could have explained verbally.

we have to report thiis to somebody ..

i tried searcing online for agencise where we report child abuse (because that is what it is) ..

could only find a link to report sexual child abuse ..

I'll keep looking unless somebody have the answer..

Yes, you are 100% right.  What makes me really sad is when I stop to think about the kid's future...  He's not going to have a very pleasant childhood and it's his parents (or family and surroundings in general) who are to blame.   >:(

obeah?   ???

The other bands are:  Dioramic, Pollytox, Unholy Chainsaw Abortion of Doom, &  Sexy Drugs

They're all pretty much local bands.  They're the birthday kid's friends & he's in one of the bands.  To be honest, most of them are not really my taste, but it's for a "good cause" & it's the party surrounding the concert which makes it so much fun at the end.

Enjoy the new CD.  Hopefully it arrives you soon!  :)

wow...dat way worse dan stalker

well keep ah sharp eye out...watch yuhself

wtf ?!  that's pretty awful. mm, take care of yourself.  :peace: :peace:

Thank you, but not to worry...I'll keep an eye out, like always when concerts are held here in our city...It's pretty annoying, but neccessary, unfortunately.  :(  Enough people are always telling me, "Don't worry.  If he shows up, we'll take care of you, or protect you".  But I don't want any babysitters.  If somebody has to waste their time protecting me, then they can't enjoy themselves...that's the problem, and I don't feel like staying backstage the entire time either, because most of the fun is NOT backstage...  Besides, when he stabbed his ex back then, it was in public with many people around the place, so maybe you understand why I don't feel safe with so called "protectors".  The only thing I am thankful for is if somebody drives me home as soon as he shows up, but...so far, so good.  I'm still alive and healthy.  :)  What bothers me the most, though, is that we broke up over 8 years ago, and I still have to be afraid of him...
Oh yeah, just in case some of you are wondering, "why did you date him in the first place, knowing that he has already stabbed an ex before"...the answer is really simple:  I didn't know.  Not long after I found out what kind of a person he was, we broke up...so please, no questions.   ;)
I'm almost certain, though, that he won't show up this time, and if that should be the case, I will try to make a few good pics of the show and post them.  :)

Long story short:  He's not allowed closer than 500 meters near me or my son.  He's very dangerous...he's known here for having stabbed one of his ex-girlfriends, and when we broke up, he threatened to kill me & the rest involves my son & is too personal...he didn't have to go to jail, though, because the "poor guy" isn't mean, "only very sick & needs help"...  That's how it was said in court...

KMFDM...I've heard of them & I've heard a few of their songs.  I liked what I heard, but it wasn't much.  :(

Infectious Grooves was cool, yeah.  I saw Suicidal Tendencies  live with Anthrax in 88 or 89 in Dortmund, I believe...it was very cool.  I knew you would like Dave's performance, I never saw him live, though.  Too bad, because I used to be madly in love with him...I know, I know - go shoot me, WTF was I thinking back then?!?!?

I don't know all of the bands you've mentioned, but I do remember Overkill!  They actually still around?  Wow, I wouldn't have guessed.

Well, mindflair will be playing in K-Town on Friday, the 29th...maybe I'll post a few pics or videos...It's a birthday party concert for one of our friends, so it should be lots of fun.  I just hope my ex doesn't show up there, or else I'll have to go home...that would really suck.

Hey Ribbit!

Megedeth, eh?  Are they actually still around?  I used to listen to them during my younger years (about 13-18 years).  Due to my 3 older brothers, actually.  I used to really be into Metal.  Megadeth was one of my favorite bands back then, next to Suicidal Tendencies.  Wow, it's moments like this when I realise how old I am.  :)  I've never seen them live.  Let me know how it was!  I wish you lots of fun!!!

Please don't understand me wrong...I never criticized The Orange Sky, and I never will.  I'm sure they work hard for their music & I really hope they make their wishes come true.  Like I said before, they are a good metal band.  And I have already passed the link...some people find it very interesting.   :beermug:

No worries, I never got the sense that you crticized them

even if you did...ah well,,everybody has their own path to take

The guys from orange sky use to have regular jobs in trini, but touring takes up a lot of time...so they were forced to quit/got fired etc

now music is the full time....

Thank God  :)  The reason I thought you may think I was criticizing them is just because, you see, we germans (especially the women ::) ) have the famous reputation of being a little bitchy.  I, personally, don't think I am like that, but you see, I have difficulties expressing myself in English...some people misinterpret some of what I say, especially when I have to write it and don't have the chance to say what I think in a personal discussion.  It's hard to know how my written words sound when others read it...the tone of the voice is very important at times, especially when communicating in a language one doesn't use often...

Too bad they had to quit their jobs, but at least they all found something they really enjoy.  That's most important.  :)

i read that alot of music in the last few decades follow two distinct traditions. there’s the “blues” tradition and then there’s the “punk” tradition. it seems like mindflair seems more in line with the punk tradition. orange sky seems more blues-influenced. from my understanding, the “punk” approach is a bit more experimental than the traditional “blues” approach – like a reaction to orthodoxy. this might explain why it seems important for mindflair to stay “underground” and why orange sky doesn’t mind so much increased exposure and popularity. chacon son gout as the french say.

Another more practical reason is because dem fellahs from mindflair already have ah day wukk

Dem fellahs from Orange sky..dat IS dey wukk

Man hadda eat....and hi-lo prices eh easy
as fuh whoever else readin dis...go and buy ah Orange sky CD and support trinidad music

ah know dem dreads since dey have windball afro.........mih people tryin to eat

My boyfriend was unemployed for 3 years before he got the job which he has now (for 7 months)...The former bass player was unemployed as well.  Yes, at present they all have jobs, but that wasn't always so.  But even as some members were without a job, they never chose to make a living through their band.

Nonetheless, ther's nothing wrong with musicians making a living through their bands, like I have already written in my last post:

We don't see anything wrong with people being, or wanting to be famous.  There's also nothing wrong with the fact that people want to make a living through producing music.  Of course we also listen to quite a few famous bands.  The only thing that bothers us is the fact that very many famous musicians expect way too much money from their fans.  More than they require to make  a (even very luxiourious) living.  That's just something mindflair could never combine with their good concience.

It's only the way lots of musicians begin to expect much too much (more than they need to make a great living) money from everyday normal people who just don't have much money.  That's not fair & that's what bothers us...not the fact that some people want the big breakthrough.  There's nothing wrong with a music career as long as you stay honest and down to earth as a normal person...after all even the most famous people are just people...why should it be so damn expensive just to be able to see them on a stage?

Please don't understand me wrong...I never criticized The Orange Sky, and I never will.  I'm sure they work hard for their music & I really hope they make their wishes come true.  Like I said before, they are a good metal band.  And I have already passed the link...some people find it very interesting.   :beermug:

orange sky - nice intro  .

mindflair - nice drums  .

i've been exploring the "hard rock"/"metal" genre over the last few years and the thing that really hurts this genre is vocals. honestly, if bands concentrate their efforts on the music to express themselves and completely remove or limit the vocals, they will be easier to listen to. some of the people in this genre are really good musicians but the genre has a bad rep. plus it's one of the few genres that deal with darker themes in life.

Hmmm...mindflair isn't really a metal band, they are more of a grindcore/crustcore band.  They started off, back in 1994, as a more of a death metal band, but changed immensly throughout the years.  Most people don't know what crust/grindcore is, or that it even exists!   (ahem...hey there Pointman  ;) );D  It is often compared to the hardest music that most people know, which happens to be heavy metal, but there are huge differences between the types of music.  Anyhow, in music such as mindflair makes, the vocals are extremely important, but they are not used like in many other music types.  The vocals are considered as another instrument, not as actual vocals.  Mindflair doesn't like the word "vocals", they much more prefer the word "voices" which fits to the description much better.  Music doesn't always need a nice voice where you can understand each and every word (in mindflair's case, you really can't understand much of anything unless you really know the lyrics  ::) ), but in that case it could be well compared to classical music...Mozart or Beethoven made beautiful music which was very capable of expressing many emotions and feelings completley without words or lyrics...only instruments.
It's nice to see that people in this forum are interrested in different types of music without degrading or insulting what they might not happen to like.
You are definately right when you say that such bands deal with the darker (or serious) themes in life.  That's why the voices sound so aggressive...to express their feelings towards different topics.

By the way, they also have an official website of their own...  www.mindflair.de.vu  check it out if you like

never heard of crunchcore until you mentioned it. the idea of "voices" instead of vocals certainly differentiates it from the “metal” i was thinking of.

when i was more musically active, i didn't hear much of anything from europe. most of the stuff was american or british or "distributed" through america - i.e. the import scene. but this was something i didn’t have the money to follow. a friend recorded a tape for me with some bands from europe like coroner, bathory, entombed, ..... coroner and entombed were good. fortunately things are easier to distribute now.

i read that alot of music in the last few decades follow two distinct traditions. there’s the “blues” tradition and then there’s the “punk” tradition. it seems like mindflair seems more in line with the punk tradition. orange sky seems more blues-influenced. from my understanding, the “punk” approach is a bit more experimental than the traditional “blues” approach – like a reaction to orthodoxy. this might explain why it seems important for mindflair to stay “underground” and why orange sky doesn’t mind so much increased exposure and popularity. chacon son gout as the french say.

Actually it's called crustcore, not crunchcore, but that's ok.  Crunchcore sounds cool too.  ;)  Mindflair is more crindcore that crustcore, but we listen to both.  Anyhow, I like reading how you write...very nice & interesting.  You could be right with the blues & punk theory, there are always many punks at their concerts, even though the european punk is much different than crindcore, but somehow we all seem to stick together most likely because our way of thinking and our points of view towards life are similar.
When mindflair was offered to perform with Korn, they refused, not out of fear of becoming famous, but more because of the fact that they (Korn) said from the start how much money they were expecting for the performance...  I don't know if you know the band D.R.I.?  Anyhow, they are from the States and are pretty famous & have been around for over 20 years. Even though they are famous, they don't make a big deal out of it.  For their 20 year anniversary tour, they only performed in small underground places and their tickets costed 6 Euro!  That's what we enjoy seeing amongst musicians...honest dedication towards their fans.  They even came up to us after the show, shook all of our hands and said "thank you very much for coming to our show!"  That's the kind of thing we prefer.  But like you already said...to each his own, or chacun a son gout.  :)

And, by the way, believe it or not, we also enjoy listening to good blues.  Very often, driving in the car before a concert, we really enjoy the ride with good, mellow blues.  I even listen to stuff like the grateful dead, janis joplin & the doors.  :)

I also must admit, during the world cup, I saw people like Shurwayne Winchester, Calypso Rose, Iwer George, Black Stalin, Roy Cape, The Laventille Rhythm Section, and others  perform here in Kaiserslautern & it was a blast!!!  I enjoyed it very much!  The music may not be my first choice, but it was great nonetheless.  The atmosphere was incomparable.  My boyfriend was there as well, and he (as a drummer) was fascinated by the Laventille Rhythm Section!  As you can see, we may not choose to listen to  every type of music, but we are always open for new experiences.  :)

Here is a link which kind of describes the definition of grindcore:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grindcore  in case you may be interested

:rotfl:  What I found irritating is that he didn't pass the joint on to the others!?!  I don't know how it is in Jamaica, but in Germany smoking weed is a social act amongst smokers & we always share!!!  It's not something one does just for him/herself...If I were there I would have felt left out, not being offered to smoke with...  :(

orange sky - nice intro  .

mindflair - nice drums  .

i've been exploring the "hard rock"/"metal" genre over the last few years and the thing that really hurts this genre is vocals. honestly, if bands concentrate their efforts on the music to express themselves and completely remove or limit the vocals, they will be easier to listen to. some of the people in this genre are really good musicians but the genre has a bad rep. plus it's one of the few genres that deal with darker themes in life.

By the way, they also have an official website of their own...  www.mindflair.de.vu  check it out if you like

anyhoo..share this link with your people,, these boys want need the exposure....they have a couple videos in there as well for a quick listen

http://www.theorangesky.com/

Hmmm...The Orange Sky seems to be more of a Heavy Metal band...very melodical.  We're not really into Heavy Metal.  I'm not criticizing it...I never criticize ANY type of music, because tastes are different.  I'm pretty sure they're a good Heavy Metal band & I'm sure they have quite a few dedicated fans, but I'm sorry...I don't know anybody who listens to that type of music...I will still share the link with my friends, though, who knows?  Maybe they know somebody who knows somebody elso who might enjoy their type of music...  :)

well yes and no

Truthfully their style is a combination of metal and reggae...as well as a combo of metal and rapso (an indigenous style of music in T&T)...truly their own sound
The clips on the site are to cater to a north american audience....after all they have an album to sell

However, seeing them LIVE is a way different experience

Nevertheless, pass the link...maybe somebody in 'k-town' will buy a cd or two

Even if they are not really my taste, I must admit it was an interesting experience to hear such music...always open for something different.  :)  I'm sure seeing them live is pretty interresting.  I know lots of people who go to Mindflair concerts even though they don't really like the music (it really isn't everyone's taste...this we know :) ), but they go nonetheless because of the live acts (like you've mentioned with The Orange Sky) & PARTY before, during and after.
And, like I said before, of course I will share/pass the link...why not?  :) :beermug:
