On Wednesday night, Gerard Ramey was found dead in a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds.

Police said Remy, 49, lived at Third Street, Barataria.

He was found at Sombadora Road, Acono Road, Maracas, St Joseph.

Officers were called to the area at around 11 p.m. when a black AD wagon was found parked in bushes at the side of the street.

Ramey had gunshot wounds to his head and upper body, and was slmuped in the driver's seat.

He was an employee of the San Juan/ Laventille Regional Corporation as apart-time watchman.

Police said last night Ramey and another man were on duty at a WASA site near where he was killed.

Former National and Defence Force footballer Gerard Ramey aka Gerry Forde was killed last night by a gunman in Maracas St. Joseph. He was my neighbor growing up and used to play right back for our country. He was around the time right before Strike Squad and was also a staple for Defence force.

He was 49. The story got a mention in the express but they didn't know he was a former national footballer. RIP.

Tenorsaw's point is well taken.  So is kicker's comment regarding extenuating circumstances. Baygo boy's liability issues are not a minor concern either (and by the way, ah hadda point out ... they existed in the ballroom as well). There's no right or wrong viewpoint.

At de end of de day, where does that leave us? Lehwe assume that the ballroom was the best case scenario under the circumstances. (Ah eh wah to assume anything else b/c I have to believe that those around the team make the best decisions in the interest of the team)

Look ... some men on this forum wid a history of playing organized ball have trained indoors on basketball courts (or the like) when the weather outside did not permit outdoor training. Some fellas on this forum know all too well that sometime they are in training and based on de lightning detector or lightning tracker dey hadda head indoors to do some of the same stuff dem fellas were doing on de video. Further some of these same ppl know that even heat could impact de vibe, furthermore rain ...we all agree it wasn't perfect, but it is what it was.

(That said ... ah lil curious about de inappropriate footwear a couple players were wearing in that video ...)

Anyway! Ah channeling 3 points. Go warriors!

disagree..it would be easier to get permission from a hotel where you stayng than to get a new facility to give you the neccessary green light...in the US liability is ALWAYS an issue

Also, the process involved in securing a quality facility can be daunting at times - field application, liability insurance etc. It is not as simple as some may imagine. Even lowly county fields generally don't allow the use of their fields within 48 hours after heavy rain etc.

Best response for the night...Everybody else talking a pack of arse...Liability, liability.....to sweat small goal round by me yuh have to get approved...men think is trini yuh call up a man hey say come and sweat...a man get injured your school could be liable....

Football / Re: Should Sancho return home ?
« on: July 12, 2008, 02:27:15 PM »
I does read and try to follow all those all those interviews on Sancho and i feel people on here not really understanding what's going on with this guy,it's two years since the WC and for a player with this recognition and status i can't understand why he is not stable or does not have a team, some thing is not right some where,we seem to always find excuses and reasons why he is in that situation,we seem to blame everybody for his problems,Birchall likewise is in that same situation.

I've always said these guys have to let their game speak for them, they talk too much, any where you go to play people going to enquire about you and who you think they going to go too,off course the TTFF,now it look like the only team they stand a chance to play for is T&T because like nobody else wants them.

I mean what else,it's best he return home i'm sure North East Stars,Mau Pau etc could do with a player of that calibre.

What yuh mean "they talk too much"... and how are you in any position to judge??  Sancho and who ever else knows better what's best for them than you or anybody on this forum.  If Sancho feels his principles might be compromised by NOT speaking out, and speaking out is what he wants to do then that is his business.  Who is some next man, totally removed from the situation, clueless as to Sancho's affairs to come criticize him and say he talking too much?

Well Bakes then nobody should complain about the way he is being treated, they should not be sympathetic to his cause, don't involve the whole team and fight his battles by himself, all i'm saying is that what ever he does is affecting a lot of people and Football can do without that,it seems he alone have principles on the team, keep standing up Breds all the best.Shaka is a perfect example of how to stand up for your principles he in the Hall of Fame,is not what you do is how you do it.

WTF!!!!! Alyuh hearing yourselves??? Well Coops I hope nobody ever hold your bonus boy..After yuh wuk hard and so on....I hope the company doh release yuh ass after yuh make them a couple mill....I hope nobody have to depend on you to defend Sweden , England and Paraguay and then tell yuh to F off.....Men here could always talk about another man bred and how they should make it and the "bad" moves they make...but you know what look in the mirror and then talk...

Football / Wenger retracts call to ban Taylor
« on: February 24, 2008, 06:41:23 PM »
By Steven Saunders
ARSENAL manager Arsθne Wenger has admitted that the shock of seeing striker Eduardo stretchered off with a serious leg break against Birmingham City on Saturday led to his "excessive" claim that tackler Martin Taylor should never play football again.
Birmingham defender Taylor was sent off just three minutes into the match at St Andrews for a studs-first challenge that instantly snapped the lower part of Eduardo's shin. The shocking injury was too much for many of the Croatian international's team-mates to look at, while Sky Sports, who were broadcasting the match live, chose not to show any replays of the incident to avoid distressing viewers.

Immediately after the game – which ten-man Birmingham drew 2-2 with the league leaders thanks to a double from Scotland striker James McFadden – Wenger said: "I think this guy (Taylor] should never play football again. What is he doing on the football pitch? I feel that goes around with the idea for a long time that, to stop Arsenal, you have to kick Arsenal. I knew that was coming for a long time now.

"The season is over for (Eduardo] and the injury is very, very bad."

However, Wenger issued a statement on Arsenal's club website later on Saturday evening. "It was a highly emotional afternoon and we were all shocked by the injury to Eduardo," Wenger said. "On reflection, I feel that my comments about Martin Taylor were excessive. I said what I did immediately after the game, in the heat of the moment."

Eduardo underwent an operation on Saturday afternoon at a Birmingham hospital and was transferred to a hospital in London yesterday. The Brazilian-born Croatia international will now miss his country's participation in the finals of Euro 2008 – as well as a series of warm-up games that include a friendly with Scotland at Hampden next month – while there are fears he may never play football again. The talented striker turns 25 today.

Birmingham manager Alex McLeish was adamant that Taylor had not intended to injure Eduardo, while fellow defender Stephen Kelly went a step further by claiming that referee Mike Dean had sent his team-mate off because of the extent of the injury, rather than the ferocity or nature of the challenge in the first place.

"It was harsh Tiny (Taylor] being sent off," said Kelly. "Tiny has gone in and it wasn't a malicious tackle and the reason the referee has sent him off is because he has seen Eduardo has broken his leg.

"I don't think you can send a player off for that. That's football. It can happen. It is an accident. Tiny didn't go in two-footed. He didn't lunge. He didn't dive in.

"Everyone knows what Tiny is like. He is such a nice bloke. He has not got a malicious bone in his body so it was very harsh for the ref to see the broken leg and then send him off because of that."

McLeish is confident a "distraught" Taylor will be able to put the traumatic experience of inflicting the serious injury on Eduardo – however unintentional – behind him.

The former Scotland manager said: "We will give Martin support. Everyone here will support him. Most people in the game know Martin and I am sure he will get the support of everyone else because he is hurting at the moment.

"I would like to think it wouldn't affect him. He has made the challenge and Martin would always go for the ball honestly.

"Arsenal are feeling a bit angry about the whole thing at the moment so we will let the dust die before we make any reasoned approaches to them. But I am sure Martin would definitely like to go and see Eduardo."

Another visitor to Eduardo's bedside will be Slaven Bilic, the Croatia manager. "This is horrible," admitted Bilic. "The fact he won't play at the Euros is less important – most important is that he recovers as soon as possible and resumes his footballing career.

"He is a great guy. Of course I will visit him very soon, trying to cheer him up."

What they said

• "Martin's distraught about the lad's injury. It's certainly not in Martin Taylor's make-up at all to commit a malicious tackle."

– Alex McLeish

• "The club are saddened that such a fantastic game of football has been marred by a serious injury sustained to Arsenal player Eduardo.

"But Martin Taylor is adamant there was no malicious intent in the tackle and he is deeply upset by the extent of Eduardo's injury.

"Having reviewed the incident, this (no malicious intent] is clearly the case."

– Birmingham City FC

• "The injury is the result of a very bad tackle that is not forgivable. As far as I am concerned, this guy should never play football again. The answer you normally get after a tackle like that is 'he is not the type of guy who does that.'

"It's like a guy who kills one time in his life. It's enough. You have a dead person.

"This tackle is absolutely horrendous. If you watch it again, you can't say the guy has played the ball. It is not accept
able."

– Arsθne Wenger, post match

• "It was a highly emotional afternoon and we were all shocked by the injury. On reflection, I feel my comments about Martin Taylor were excessive. I said what I did immediately after the game in the heat of the moment."

– Arsθne Wenger, in a statement released on the Arsenal website on Saturday evening

• "This is horrible. The fact he won't play at the Euros (European Championship] is less important – most important is that he recovers as soon as possible."

– Croatia manager Slaven Bilic

• "I can't believe this happened. Also, I can't believe such brutality still exists in football."

– Croatia captain Niko Kovac

• "It was harsh Tiny (Taylor] being sent off. It wasn't a malicious tackle and the ref has sent him off because he has seen Eduardo has broken his leg."

– Birmingham City defender Stephen Kelly

Marvin is d only local player that turn down d 400 dollar deal .that's to show he knows he's worth more than that per game.brazil player and england players are getting $20000 per game we men can't even get 10% of that that aint rite.

what gate receipts those teams pulling?

I all for proper insurance, proper transportation and accomodation arrangements.  I have never felt you should be paid to play for country....just a stipend to cover expenses and despite this blacklist thing I still think that is the better course.

Volunteer to play for country and earn your money at your club.
yeah dcs what do you do?
next time the country need somebody with your services volunteer nah? love up your country...steups...You feel country gonna take care of you when your foot break? Trinis always critical of a next man bread..what a next man should do to earn his living or not....but i guarantee put yourself in that situation...you will not be as giving as your time...to leave your family, kids and your commitments to come sweat for your country..

am spidey...how old was dwight in 95? you answer your own question :rotfl:

During his time with Aston Villa, from 1989 to 1998, Yorke played initially as a right winger until the 1995-96 season, he then switched to centre forward and quickly established himself as one of the Premiership's top strikers. Yorke was an integral member of the Villa team that reached the League Cup Final in 1996. Villa won 3-0 with Yorke getting on the scoresheet. On September 30, 1996 he scored a brilliant hat-trick against Newcastle United in a 4-3 defeat. Newcastle were leading 3-1 at half-time and Aston Villa were down to ten men, with Mark Draper being sent off late in the first half. Yorke showed great character in leading his team in a brave fight back by scoring two more goals in the second half to complete his hat-trick, although it was to no avail as Aston Villa still lost the game. Yorke scored a fourth goal to equalise the game at 4-all, only for his goal to be ruled offside. It was performances like this that led to interest from Manchester United in August 1998. Yorke appeared for Aston Villa on 231 occasions, scoring 97 times.-souce wikpedia...
