Tallman thanks for the link. It can't be viewed from here. I will try cricinfo. You know the ironic thing is Al Jazeera sports 10 is bringing the game live....one of the few channels I don't have! :frustrated:

I am supporting India because I am born Indian and also because I think that though they are the underdog, they'll still give us a good run for our money.

I hope India wins.....afterall, its only a friendly.

Fellas - maybe some of you haven't seen India play recently? I actually saw all the games that they played in the Asian Cup here in Doha at the beginning of this year.

As a team the fight, grit and determination was praiseworthy, and they even scored some goals (3 in total) too - yes, they finished last in a group containing Bahrain, Australia (finalists) and Korea and got a right cut-a$$ in all the matches, but in fairness, I don't think we would have faired any better.

So - I don't think its a bad prospect, and I think India could give us a shock or two, and it will give us a wake-up call.

Football / A trini's view in Qatar about the 2022 successful bid
« on: December 21, 2010, 12:39:15 AM »
I am looking forward to seeing the worldcup here in Qatar (if I am still here by 2022). I think the move was very much political orientated to try and bridge culture and religious divides. (Although the real reason could have been money driven).

In terms of 'major' sporting activities, Qatar held the asian games, had Brazil vs Argentina last month (which I saw), and have the Asian Football cup in Jan. Not to mention all the international tennis tournaments.

I think that Qatar had every right to win, they are rapidly developing and trying to show the world that they can hold tournaments successfully. How they deal with the alcohol and "other" issues though will be interesting - as in general - change / esp. cultural change doesn't go down too well here.

How easy is it (or possible at all) to get a real TT kit? Do they have patches for the PS3 similar to PC games?

I'll pick up the WII version of this as soon as its avaialable at my local GameStop (will check this weekend)

And yes, I said WII. The cool thing about playing these games on the WII is that you have to option of using the WIImote, or you can buy a classic game controller if you want more control over things.

yuh know, when I read that a henny man like you had a Wii I laughed, but I definitely wasn't surprised.

Welcome back Jefferz!  :rotfl:

Fellas,

Firstly not sure that this is the right place for this thread as I have seen many a debate on PES vs Fifa etc etc.

But as we all know the latest addition version of Fifa is out tomorrow (in the UK). As those silly b()*&*rds at EA sports >:( aren't making a PC version, looks like i'll be buying myself a PS3. Yes, I know this is peong'ish beyond belief, but I reckon that this is the only way TT will feature in the WC finals.

Anyhow - wondering if any of you can post up reviews or even screen dumps when you get the game. I know people like "the worm" are usually excellent at providing this type of stuff, so help a brother out!

Also - lets know what game play is like etc....

This is an absolute disgrace. It would have been better to not waste his time and invite him in the first place! In either case we're out of the running, why not use one of our U20's defenders? They are pretty fit having played loads of warm-ups and of course the WC itself? Its a chance to get back on the international stage and get more experience.

But the whole samuel thing is disgraceful, I mean.......its like getting a rouse once :rotfl:.....and again ::).....and come back for one more  ;D

 :-X ::)

« on: September 25, 2009, 09:22:05 AM »
Mwansoka, I think the junior warriors did quite well for the first 25 mins, after which they turned to the 'boom-kick' style that we are so accustomed seeing with our seniors. From what I have seen so far, I think the Paraguayan's will run at us all game, although the Italy match should be a bit more interesting...

We'll have to wait and see, but hopefully the U20's don't feel too dejected after y'day's mauling. In the second half we let them have the match, no fight, whatsoever.

For me, there were two players who stood out: Thomson and Da Silva. Thomson gave a very promising performance, unlike Sean. Very, very disappointed, kept giving the ball away the whole game. Also the captain has to step up as does Hyland. I didn't think our defense looked half bad. It was our porous mid-field that put our defence under much pressure.

My two cents....

Folks we have Ince in the goal and Yorke and another trainer has the fwds and midfielders in a line bouncing a ball to them or passing with no pressure and they are running into the box lazy lazy and shooting to goal.

NOT ONE MAN SCORE!!!

I watch Jah Goal and he and patriot both confirm what i saw...and is not even hard luck is over bars and wide and ince ent event stretchin to make a save.

When I look back on the other side of the field is bullet pinging and howard sprawling.

I steups and went downstairs and jib until I hear the team being announced.

Very very typical of KJ's in pre-match warmups for S'land....

Thanks for the excellent and informative match report Touches  :beermug:

Football / End of a generation?
« on: September 10, 2009, 07:28:51 AM »
I write this with a heavy heart (and a bottle of puncheon).

The 2010 SA campaign is now officially over, and with it comes the end of a generation. In 2014 we can't rely on:

1) Avery John
2) Stern John
3) Carlos Edwards
4) Cornell Glen
5) Dennis Lawrence
6) Clayton Ince
and many others from the 2006 World Cup.

The question on my mind, is who is going to carry our nations hopes to the world cup in 2014? All eyes are now on the U20's, but who stands out for you in this team? Gay? Hyland? Da Silva who else?

These players need to be given time to play "proper" opposition in preparation for the next WC qualifiers and to gel. I think the experience the U20's will get now, will serve them well come 2014, but the questions are:

1) Will we have an experienced coach? (To me Latas is a legend on the field and always will be, but has no coaching pedigree). We need a proper coach that can help our players progress and develop, and to get rid of inferiority complexes against the likes of Mexico, CR and USA.

2) Will new blacklists be formed? Favoritisms etc?

3) Will we have sufficient funding from sponsors, Adidas, Bmobile etc?

4) And again who / which players do you think will be participating in our next WC campaign? Ie) I think it should be a mixture of youth and experience, ie) likes of Tinto, Abu Bakr (will have more experience by then), J'lloyd possibly has one more campaign in him, Keon Daniel (needs to shake off the attitude first).

Flex, Tallman, E-man, can anyone of you please set up one link where we can follow our U20's progress? And also viewing streams etc? I for one will stay up watching this.

This team is our future.... :beermug:
