Awful game, everybody had an off day, I think O'Neill would of changed 10 if he could today.  Next week Newcastle.
Newcastle looked vulnerable against Wolves today so it's a good time to play them.

Bookmakers have Redknapp as the hot favorite....just when we had gotten that BS trial over with now there's another distraction.

Personally I think Roy Hodgson is a better candidate though...if you're looking for an English manager.

As long as England has the same players, Roy or Harry (or whoever for that matter) will get mere variations of the same level mediocrity from that crop of laborers....

Fair point but if the FA is determined to have an English manager the choices are severely limited.  I favor Roy because of his international experience.

That said I think English football has 2 main problems:

- The English media somehow believe that they're perennial contenders to win (despite zero evidence to support that position) and put the team under a microscope, vilify every tiny misstep and as a result they pile immense pressure on the team.  Faced with that the players tend to play conservatively to avoid mistakes resulting in very poor performance.  Spain had the same problem for a long time.

- The second problem is that English football, despite the glut of foreign players, is still at it's heart more about grit than flair so attempts to make the English team play the attractive football seen in the Premier league will fail in the same way forcing European-style defensive play  on the Brazilians did.

I think an English manager especially one with the experience Redknapp or Hodgson will be better able to shield the players from the media and get better performances from the team.  I'm not saying that England will be winning any World Cups soon but we should see less fear from the English players on the field.

Football / Re: Soca Warriors seize TTFF assets
« on: February 08, 2012, 03:43:24 PM »
I'm wondering how this will affect future funding of the TTFF with this judgement hanging over them.  An individual can have his wages garnished I'm assuming the same can be done to a corporate entity as well.

what wages though?  gate receipts?  300 people showing up ans 289 is free tickets????

Money received from the government and corporate entities would be considered income.

yuh really feel that corporate T&T and stinking ka-ka hole Anil going to fund anything now?

Hence the first sentence in my post.   Personally I'm not that sure the that government money will dry up completely, I have no faith in the  T&T government capacity to make sensible decisions when it comes to public money.  The TTFF will be cut off in the short term but once public attention starts to wane all bets are off.

If you are correct and the TTFF receives no funding at all then how long can it survive?

We getting too hung up on the health insurance part.  Randy Waldrum is relating the situation from an American perspective where health care doesn't exist without health insurance.

I find it funny that the author doesn't mention Title IX at all when it's the single most important reason for the initial US dominance of women's football internationally and it's continued dominance regionally.

I picked this up for youtube....the quality is not that good, but to be honest looking at it from the different angles I have different views

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gA6IQzVDrA

The clip is 35 sec
From 0:01-0:04 (real time), it looked like a great tackle
From 0:06-0:08 it looked good with the right leg...his left leg is blocked so you do not see that follow through
From 0:10 - 0:14 I think is the best view where you see the full effect with the left foot coming in with a lunge and its also the side that the ref was looking from. Only thing I could surmise is that ref saw the lunge and viewed intent, but from that view the tackle looked scary.

I guess you can watch it over and over and debate it. Interesting thing is that Nani did not complain (at least from the clip), it look like Rooney and Welbeck.
This is the first time I saw the tackle and I have to say that by the letter of the law it's clearly a red card offense as he left his feet and went in with both studs up, if he had actually made contact with (that) Nani no one would have questioned the decision.

The fact that there was no contact is irrelevant since the reason of the rule is to eliminate that kind of tackle from the game.

Football / Re: The Stoke City Forever Thread
« on: December 13, 2011, 01:07:31 AM »
Spurs getting all kinda robbed from the ref... Defoe get bundled over on a scramble in the box, clear penalty... nutten.  Same scramble sequence, shot on goal, off a Stoke elbow on the goal line... good save, apparently... ball drop to Adebayor in an onside (by a hair) position who knocks it past Friedel... offside, no goal.  7 minutes later, Kaboul foul a man, routine clip from behind in a non-threatening position... yellow card, second of the match... Spurs down to 10 men for the final 10 mins, lol.

Meanwhile, Crouch hitting man all kinda step-over, flick and backheel... playing striker, right winger... wherever the ball fall or they need him.  Assisted on the first goal by setting the table for Etherington.  2-1 Stoke in 90+2' (5 mins added).

EDIT: Final

There definitely were several questionable decisions by the officials but we had enough opportunities in front of goal to win the game, couple that with the piss poor first half showing and we only have ourselves to blame.  Hopefully the players will learn from this and be stronger for the experience.

Changing federations won't change a thing unless we get our house in order.  It worked for Australia becuase already had their football development structure in place, in any case what they really wanted was a direct route to the World Cup.

« on: July 10, 2011, 12:43:04 PM »
The Brazil women's team's preparation for this world cup was half-assed at best and that coach was a joke...I'm sorry for the Brazilian players but the CBF deserve this.  Hopefully they'll see this as a wake up call and take it more seriously next time.

The US better win the World cup this rounds though....they've dominated the game so far by being physically stronger and better prepared than the other teams but in terms of technical ability they haven't improved.  On the other hand other teams (Japan and France especially) have improved immensely and I won't be surprised if the US doesn't fall own the pecking order by the next cup.

The TTFF should also find a way to fine the "minor" league clubs that these professional players play for.  And also the sponsors of these minor leagues.  Firing the players from their clubs isnt enough!

This is killing our game and it needs to be stamped out.

I say they should create a stipulation whereby only if a player is given permission by his club can he participate in a minor league competition!!

ah love it!!

How could the TTFF fine a Minor league club,it have no constitution, rules etc etc that controls a Minor league,FIFA,TTFF,CONCACAF etc has no control over a Minor league, these leagues could be here today and gone tomorrow.
Since when Minor league Football killing our game,Minor league has always been our roots,it's where all our great/best players started or came from, stamping it out is what going to kill Football.Minor league is what brings us all together,it's community, neighborhoods, people etc Football has died in certain areas in the country because the best Minor leagues are no more and if the Minor leagues go the Major leagues will also go.
I think is a matter of discipline on the part of players in the country, weather they want to be Pros or not and not blame the leagues, does England,France,Germany etc have that problem?we always want to compare ourselves with the rest of the world keep blameing JW and don't grow up.
The bottom line is they can't stop Minor league anywhere,it's what the average people that like the game look forward too.
+

The real issue here is that the Minor Leagues are exposing themselves to legal problems by allowing contracted players to play.  If one were to suffer injury while playing that players club would certainly be within their right to seek compensation for the loss.

I imagine the Pro League might even encourage the club to take legal action, even though the minor league would more than likely be unable to pay such compensation, if only as a means gain leverage or perhaps set a precedent for future litigation.

Pro clubs in Europe seek compensation when their players are hurt on international duty do you think for a second that they wouldn't do the same to a minor league?  Maybe that's why this isn't an issue there.

The chemical THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is mainly what that gets you high when you smoke or consume MJ.  It's mostly concentrated in the buds of the female plant so that's what's 'traded' not leaves.

You sure about that  ???

You COULD smoke the leaves, but that is when yuh don't have no buds left.
The smoke from leaves is harsher and isn't sweet like bud smoke.

Or so I hear.

Exactly.  This is purely a hypothetical discussion  ;D

gave up on Firefox a few weeks ago, started to move real slow and buggy. Im using chrome now , its way faster, maybe ill try firefox 4 when it comes out. The new internet explorer 9 came out today , but i fine it sucks as usual

Firefox has slowed down on me recently as well but I figure all the addons I installed may have had something to do with it.  Chrome is pretty good but lacks some of the addons I'm used to using in Firefox.

I use Firefox and Chrome but there are times when I have no choice but to use IE because some sites won't work properly with anything else.

I suspect that's your problem as well.
