The Socawarriors played much better at this World Cup than anyone outside your islands believed they could. So they are going home and the dream is over, So what - they did you proud.

Really good start to game - very open with chances at both ends, Cornell Glenn looks sharp and fast. Jack had a brilliant save.

Could be interesting, Beenie has picked Kelvin Jack for all the games he has been fit and available for since taking over - he obviously rates him.

But Kelvin is injured at the moment and may not get back into Dundee's side when fit again, he's got competition for a place at the club now, Beenie piicked him when he was Dundee's reserve keeper before but would he do that in a World Cup year. It seems to be the casethat the other keepers are hardly first choice either too, I'm not an expert on Clayton Ince's situation but he played at the weekend so he may be the exception.

I saw Tony Warner play a fair bit when he was at Aberdeen and Celtic, lost loads of goals up here - If I was choosing Trinidad and Tobago's keepers for Germany he'd be my fourth choice - and there is not a chance in a million that he will play ahead of Niemi at Fulham, especially as Warner was in goal for a cup giant killing on Saturday - good way to start at a new club.

Football / Kelvin Jack didn't play on Saturday

Keeper Kelvin Jack didn't play for Dundee on Saturday. The injury he picked up in the Mexico game is still bothering him and he wasn't risked on the artificial surface at Hamilton's ground.

Dundee had 17 year old Scott Murray in goal and schoolboy Jamie Kelly on the bench

Beenie picked Kelvin Jack as soon as he took over as coach, and has stuck with him. Kelvin wasn't in Dundee's first team at that time so there must have been something about him that Beenie liked in training. I'd suggest that he is very much Leo's first choice and unless he makes a mess of it before or in Germany will be the man who the coach picks - whether he is playing first team football for Dundee or not.

As someone who watches Kelvin every week I'd say he has improved castly recently - and since T&T qualified for Germany has made great saves in both of Dundee's home games at important points of the match.

On Saturday against St Mirren he pulled off a string of fine saves as we hammered the league leaders 4-0.

Kelvin's boys draw England
Written on: 09/12/2006

Kelvin Jack and former Dee Brent Sancho will eagerly look forward to the prospect of taking on England after tonight's World Cup Finals draw. Trinidad and Tobago face David Beckham and company on June 15th next year in the second match of their finals group. They face Sweden in their opening match and Paraguay in the final game of their group.

Kelvin Jack made a great save just before Dundee scored the winner today. The big man also spoke to the official Dundee website and we'll have his comments online on Monday at www.dundeefc.co.uk.

After we spoke to him I got the chance to shake his hand and congratulate him on getting to Germany.

It's actually hard to tell whether Kelvin has played any better since becoming a regular international, because he was very much Dundee's reserve goalkeeper last season and was established as T&T's first choice quite a long time before becoming Dundee's first choice keeper.

In fact he only got the starting place at the start of the season because Derek Soutar was injured, but he did reasonably well when he got his chance. Another injury to Soutar will probably have saved Kelvin's career at Dundee after the weekend's events.

As to marketing - Dundee haven't gained any marketing potential from having Kelvin in the World Cup qualifying squad - The Socawarriors getting to Germany made the newspapers here last week but it wasn't a big thing, We were proud to have a player in the squad, and just as pleased for Brent Sancho who was a big favourite here last season.

I'd doubt if we will make a single penny (cent) from Kelvin being an international, and I'd doubt that it will make any difference to a future transfer fee - because most players from Scottish clubs aren't worth any fee nowadays - even if they are good, Kelvin certainly wouldn't command a fee - he was on trial at Brighton in pre-season and they weren't interested in signing him.

He's a decent keeper and a nice lad, I was disappointed when he didn't turn up at the weekend as I wanted to be proud of one of our players playing for his country - that got soured when he failed to arrive. I was glad to see him back at Dundee, he looked very cold when I watched him play for the reserves on Monday night.

He wasn't to blame in anyway for Dundee getting beaten at Ross County though, 17 year old Scott Murray played very well.

Congratulation from all the Socawarriors friends in Scotland. Fans of many clubs here, including my own (Dundee) will be supporting you next summer.

Kelvin Jack said to me a couple of months ago "Getting to Germany would be a dream" - Well Kelvin dreams sometimes come true.

Football / Kelvin Jack on Dundee and Trini's World Cup chances
« on: August 21, 2005, 03:38:34 AM »
It's up to us - says Kelvin
Dundee FC

Keeper Kelvin Jack believes that regaining the Club's Premier league place is entirely in Dundee's own hands "I think winning promotion is going to be as difficult as we make it out to be" he told us "If we come into every game with the right mentality, the right professionalism, then I think we should have positive results every game.

"But obviously you'll have teams wanting to beat us badly because we are the premier team in the league, so we have to be switched on to make sure that we win every single game this season from now on.

"The boys did well against Queen of the South, we started a bit slow but gradually came into the game, I thought we passed it about well in the second half which was good. Hopefully we'll go from strength to strength as the season progresses.

"There have been spells when we've let ourselves get under pressure but it's something we are trying to rectify, the gaffer talks about it all the time, he's been very good with the boys this season and he points out that it's something we really have to work on, when we are on top we need to start passing it better, keep possession and kill the game off. We need to play more with our heads than our hearts."

The giant Trinidadian doesn't intend relinquishing his first team spot when Derek Soutar is fit saying "I definitely intend staying in the team without a doubt. That's my aim, it has to be any footballers aim, to stay in the team and keep playing.

It was Friday before Kelvin got back to Dundee after Trinidad and Tobago's 1-0 World Cup defeat in East Hartford, Connecticut "I have to be honest I was absolutely knackered after the travelling" Kelvin told us "I didn't have a good sleep at all, but that was expected with the time difference, it's hard to handle but you get a lift from your fans once the game starts and you just go out and do your job.

"I think I did OK out in the States, unfortunately we couldn't get a result, that's part of the game sometimes. We still have a very good chance to qualify, we have four games left, two at home and two away, they are all against teams that I think we should be able to beat so I think we have a decent chance of qualifying.

"It was nice to get good reviews of my performance from the media in the States but you have to take it as it comes because obviously at some point of the season you'll have a bad patch. You try to work hard in practise every day, stay on top of your game and hopefully that will be rewarded with consistent performances.

"When you are done with your game you just start thinking about your club again, making sure you come back in good condition and try to focus on the next game. If you ask any international player they'll tell you that you are really tired after playing for your country, especially in a World Cup tie. It's very stressful sometimes and often in a hostile environment, but you are a professional footballer and are paid to play football so you just try to shut that out and start thinking about Saturday straight away after the international match and once you get back just do the best that you can."

I spoke to Kelvin after Dundee had beaten Queen of the South

Incidentally Jason Scotland was at Dens Park to watch Kelvin in action
