One question:  Latapy playing in the holding role?  What was the coach thinking?  I might be wrong, but ah cyar see Russell playing there at that age, and ah don't think he have the physical attibutes that are typical of someone in that role.

Not the best place for the man - although to be honest with his new child born that morning I'm not sure that playing at all was the right choice. I'm spoilt now - I don't like him to have a poor game  ;D

I'll add my two penn'orth

No problem moving within the UK. I'm English and have lived in Scotland for 10 of my 40-odd years. I have yet to suffer any (non-sports related) abuse. Plenty of Scots, Welsh and Irish (both sides of the border) live and work in England. Inter-marriage, if it can be called that, is commonplace, with the children having little problem with 'who they are'.

Having said that there are certain tensions surrounding the media and the division of power - mainly due to England having 85% of the population (most of that in London and the South East). Independence parties are vocal and definitely have a say in how politics in Scotland and Wales is done. But, so far, there has been no vote for leaving the UK.

When it comes to sport, however, I'm going to need a thick, thick skin  ;D

Kick their arses, guys.  The whole of Scotland is fully behind T&T already, we know what it's like to be treated with contempt by the English.

This board has already seen the posts after Scotland beat T&T 4 - 1. They also know what it's like to be treated with contempt by the Scots  ;D

A question for you Black Saltire: Would you prefer T&T to qualify from their group, not necessarily  beating England or T&T to stop England going through but not qualifying themselves?

Some of these games still continue in a few towns in Britain - The Kirkwall Ba' Game being, perhaps, the most well known

Football / Latas watch: Falkirk 1 - 2 Aberdeen
« on: November 27, 2005, 08:59:51 AM »
Falkirk dominate the 1st half but couldn't score in a brothel. An OG just before half-time and a sucker punch just after left Falkirk trailing 2-0 and were lucky to keep in at that level for the next 25 minutes. Latapy came on in the 72nd minute (Kenny Milne came off - he was having a good game and our manager was soundly booed for bringing him off - never heard it that bad before). Falkirk picked up to score once (McBreen) but despite a strong finish were unable to equalise. Good Game, Bad Game.

T&T got a write-up in the matchday programme with this forum getting a honourable mention - Check da danger. I'll see if I can't get the author to send me a copy for posting here.

Falkirk 0 - 3 Celtic

Hard to take anything positive out of this game, especially as we have given Celtic 2 hard games at their hovel earlier on. As has been posted Latapy was taken off after 70 mins.

For the last season and a half the guy has been a revelation for us. We return him safe and sound for your final qualification matches with all our best wishes.

'Mon the T&T

Falkirk 1 - 1 Livingston

Falkirk keep up the 'good game bad game' scenario with a draw against the bottom club. Latapy gained the sponsors man of the match award but this time, I'm afraid, I think it was more out of habit than for the performance. Latas did nothing wrong (and played the full 90 minutes) but didn't 'shine' if you get my meaning.

However, other results see us 1 point further off the bottom and not losing ground on the teams immediately above us. Next game: Celtic at home. This is a biggy  :beermug:

Finished 0 - 3 to Falkirk

The third goal scored by Moutinho - a Portuguese fella who was persuaded to come to Falkirk by a certain Mr R. Latapy ;D

Nice, Falkirk won 3 - 0 and Latapy hand a hand in two of the goals and didn't play the whole game.

Latas got the MoM award from the radio commentators  ;D

Inverness 0 - 2 Falkirk 70 mins

Latapy has just been subbed after setting up both goals. He ran the 1st half but Falkirk have been under the cosh since the restart and scored from a rare break. Replaced by a youngster - 36-year old John O'Neil  ;D

bawbag = scrotum. Always derogatory  ;D

'He wuz a pure bawbag, man'

Poovery = effeminacy, effeminate behaviour. Also derogatory ;D Hence poove = overtly camp person

'Supporting Mexico tomorrow is nothing but poovery'
