Saw someone skimming this thread and I thought I would revisit it.

Six years later the island is in a less optimistic position than that reported above. In fact, comparing its performance on the 2010 HDI to the HDI most recently available will show a notable change in circumstance.

In progress: poor stewardship and management of the public sector and a growing neglect/disregard of/for the working class.

Not impressed.

P.S. Practically everything is owned x Massy.  :)

Barbados HDI value for 2014 is 0.785 a drop from 0.825. Still a high human development category, positioning it at 57 out of 188 countries and territories.

Why the downward trend?
Some of the HDI indicators such as:

Life expectancy drop from 77 to 75.5 years
Expected years of schooling 16.3 to 15.4
GNI per capita (2005 PPP$) 17,308 to 12,488

The data show a downward trend over the last 4 - 5 years.

Just been through the process.

You can look at it that way and you would be correct .But you can also look at it as Cricket has no sponsors in the WI and its being run buy dead broke islands .The red force team in the champios league showed TnT to be a little gold mine. But the Wicb promptly dismantled  the TnT 20/20 hoping to cash in on our success , our players could no longer be seen .
KKR loves Narine , and this could be awesome they have money the to do this right .Am thinking first class everything for the team , am seen discovering new talent and no longer having to prove your worth as a player to a bunch of jealous and spiteful territories to hopefully get a pick.
Am seeing great parties and movies and music a cultural sharing comparing only to when kanchan and babla came in the eighties .
This could be wonderful.

Lets hope Dwayne Bravo sticks what he knows, Cricket!  ;D

I think I can get 100+ game week points over the weekend. If it works out, I believe i'll be closer to breaking into the top million overall rank.

NGC moves against SIS: $180m in assets frozen
Published on Dec 23, 2015, 9:16 pm AST
By Asha Javeed
asha.javeed@trinidadexpress.com

The National Gas Company (NGC) was yesterday granted an ex-parte order against Super Industrial Services (SIS) and Rain Forest Resorts Limited to freeze $180 million worth of assets.
In addition, SIS has to provide NGC’s attorneys with a list of all its assets, solely or jointly owned, exceeding $10,000, within 96 hours.
The order was granted by Justice Frank Seepersad.
The order explained that the prohibition includes the following assets in particular: the property and assets of SIS’s business or the sale money if any of them has been sold; and any money standing to the credit of any bank account, including the amount of any cheque drawn on such account which has not been cleared.
If SIS is able to pay $180 million to the court as security, or make provision in that sum by another method, the order will cease to have any effect.
The order allows SIS to spend $750,000 on legal advice and representation.
However, before SIS can spend any money, it must tell the NGC’s legal team “where the money is to come from”.
The order noted that:
1. It is a contempt of court for any person or entity notified of this Order knowingly to assist in or permit a breach of this Order. Any person or entity doing so may be imprisoned, fined or have their assets seized.
2. This injunction does not prevent any bank from exercising any right of set off it may have in respect of any facility which it gave to the Intended First Defendant (SIS) before it was notified of this Order.
3. No bank need enquire as to the application or proposed application of any money withdrawn by the Intended First Defendant (SIS) if the withdrawal appears to be permitted by this Order.
With regard to Rain Forest Resorts Limited, the order said the company was prohibited from dealing with or disposing of its property and assets.
Both SIS and Rain Forest have until 4 p.m. today to file a claim form.
There will another hearing on December 29 at 10 a.m. before Justice Robin Mohammed.

RIP to former St. Augustine coaching legend Kenny Thomas who passed away last week.

"Simple... SIMPLE!!"

RIP Coach Kenny.

Trained under Coach Kenny at Gustin. He made alot of men cry. It was the fittest I've ever been in my life.  Sad to hear of his loss.

SW.Net should be doing the same. We've done it for several ailing members in the past. Have to the fund going to a designated account. Flex can handle all of logistics.

A designated member can present the proceeds to TTFA.

What is the rule here? Index finger on the right hand, or any finger on the right hand. I'm seeing every voter with ink on the right index finger except for one, he have it on his right middle finger.

I can't see properly, maybe he index finger cut off.  ;D

saw more polls today dat says the gov't will win a next term.....ting is I feel it so close because PNM has had such a poor record of dealing with d "little things" that people are willing to neglect the big picture, because the PP has been able to in some way blind people to big issues by handling little tings here and there along with feeding the gimme gimme attitude of sections of the populace

In all of Dr. Rowley's speeches he told the URP/CEPEP people that they should not use these programs as a mean of career goal and to stop the viscous cycle of generations depending on such programs. That could be some of the little things here and there that a good portion of the population seem to depend on to feed they family.

27
Minister in the Ministry of sport is appointed by the Government in power. So if PNM win the elections, the government will appoint a minister in the ministry of sports.

Dr. Rowley is questioning the optics of the CONCACAF cheque that was meant for Central FC being deposited into Minister Brent Sancho's personal bank account while he is a Minister in Government.
D optics doh look good, but very plausible explanations exists, as put forward in d football board thread so,...... .......

Yeh, but you know the politicians will try to get as much mileage as possible.

29
Dr. Rowley brought this up tonight at the Point Fortin political meeting. Basically questioning the optics of it.
