The Team play has not improved. We are playing better, for a couple reasons. we have a harder working midfield, and a stronger defense. But as a team, we not playing better.(nb. I did not see the panama game)
People bawling how Leo work a miracle here, sorry I doh see that. What Leo may have done is build confidence. What he has done is included 4 new players to the starting lineup and utilzed dem. Well done......

As a team - we were more compact, making it harder for mexico to break down our defense. That was because - as a team - we kept our shape alot better. The team's passing game has also improved. There were alot less hopeless long passes and alot more composed play and movement.

The things you said sounded like a better team to me. Better selection, more confidence, utilizing players. Those things lead to better team play. If you think that doesnt contribute to the team collectively, i dont know what to say to that.

Football / If we had Beenhakker from the start
« on: June 09, 2005, 07:33:52 PM »
The improvement that this team has made proves the influence a quality coach can have.

Looking at the drastic improvements we've made in one month -  i cant help but wonder where we would have been right now if we had Beenhakker from the start. (Those points we dropped at home could end up hurting us.)

The new look team not only showed the potential we have - but it also exposed how badly prepared we were before.

I hope that the TTFF learns from this...

so what heck he doing in the left link spot then.
seriously how much intl team does have right footers playing outside left?

pires is strictly right footed and operates on the left for both arsenal and france.
also duff and robben alternate sides when playing for chelsea - both strictly left footed.
(arsenal and chelsea not intl but i figure the level is the same)

with each game and added experience theobald should adjust over time. that is, if we dont find an alternative.

Well thats where time comes in. To find a best 11 out of x amount of players in two weeks. To me that sounds impossible.
All I saying is time will tell and we should give the man some more time to make changes before we start making Bertille comparisons.

I agree that we shouldnt panic.

I also agree the national team should be more than beating NE Stars.

The main factor here is TIME and thats what makes the Bertille and Beenhakker situation different.

Maybe we need to re-evaluate who our best local players are.

From all that Ive read I figure Beenhakker either think Anton not ready for international ball or wont fit into his tactics but in all fairness if he keep looking at players and realize that ...
1. he cant find better alternatives
2. Anton form improves
... he have to give him another chance.
The man sound like he willing to experiment and give men their chance which is something that wasnt being done enough before. When a side winning is one thing but when you not performing and the same men getting pick right through that not right.
Is like how Bertille was talking bout the lack of quality in the local players HE KEEP PICKING OVER AND OVER.

So does this mean he left out Anton because he has already seen enough for him to make the final squad?  Or because he has seen enough to know he can't make it?

The second case makes more sense. If Anton Pierre was a definite Beenhakker would probably want to work with him and get him fitted into his style of play, not leave him out.

Never see Birchall so ah cyah comment but he in de mix. At de expense of who is de ting. Seeing dat he is apparently a right sided midfielder, it may mean dat he in direct competition wit Carlos Edwards

does Carlos ever play wingback at Wrexham?

Football / Re: Do we really need Nakhid as a Player?
« on: April 07, 2005, 09:09:01 PM »
I honestly dont think Beenhakker is against giving new blood a chance. Based on the post about Beenhakker's meeting with the PFL coaches it appears that the man, especially with his experience, is not as closed minded as that.

His move to make Nakhid a player may be for 2 reasons:

1. Based on the tapes he saw of the past few games, the performances were mediocre enough for him to think that Nakhid may be able to make an impact in the SHORT TERM while he gets to know new players ...

2. He wants to bring in his own assistants who he is accostumed working with and who can implement his plan - so there was not room for Nakhid as an assistant ...

Based on the Games you have seen and your following of TnT football over the last decade

do you Honestly believe that if we had a different coach other than St Clair that we would have more than 1 point at this moment.

You could even push it and say 5pts. With better preparation/performances ....

vs USA (1 pt was possible)
vs Guatemala (1pt was possible)
vs CR (3pts were possible)

the only games I 100% ok w/ losing is away to the US and Mexico

Well it proves no matter how many big names you have on the team does does not ensure a win.

Besides Yorke, who is past his best, what 'big names' do we have on this team?
Unless you talking big names in Trinidad and that dont really say much ....
