Football / To solve our problem at center defense

I haven't seen the game against Guatemala as yet, but, from our previous games, one of our main problem was in the center defense position. I would not use Lawrence in the center defense, mainly due to the fact that he is not quick enough for this level of the game. I don't know the pace of Sancho, but I assume he is quicker than Lawrence. My other suggestion for center defense is to play  one of our quick strikers who is being wasted on the bench, this can be done, right now look what we are doing with Dwight, who has played striker all is life. So instead of keeping Sealy, Jones, Glen and Jason on the bench, I would look at one of these guys to play in defense, just for their pace and also, will be much more capable to start our attack, having played against Latas back home, I know that he will encourage more passing and support from our defense, obviously, you will have to coach any player to a new position the  principles of playing that position, these players are pros and I know some players are willing to try, it's just for Leo to have a look at this idea.

By having Latas there, this will be great help to the new coach and give us a much better chance to qualify.

Did this coach ever coach against a team Latas played for?  but I am pretty sure he knows the great talent Latas has a player.

Finally I can relax and watch our game move up to the next level. I am sorry that it took so long but its never too late.

I hope that more of the big companies would come out an help because this is great for development of football in T&T.

We are going for a quick fix, remember what happened with Potterfield. You need a good local coach who understand the way we love to play this game and Latas is only one I can recommend for a quick fix. A outside coach will come in and probably try to change our players style of play, this can work but will take some time and right now we don't have time 2006 is just around the corner.

Stern need to be selfish at times, he needs to turn and take on a defender, most of the times when I see Stern play, he controls the ball and lay it off, this is ok but as a striker you must challenge defenders, and defenders don't like to be challenge, but this is a job for BSC to encourage Stern to take on defenders. Especially when a player is in a slump, you have to try a build up his confidence.

I notice that our Mids play to far apart, we have to be more compact, when defending your mids have to read the game because as a mids you don't just hold down your position but anticipate what the opposition is going to do next.

We must be more hard with our tackles, let them know that coming through our middle will be a battle zone, this will put them of their game, we must hit, this is World Cup not an exibition game but a coach must instruct his players how to play.

This is how I coach, I also tell my players that when you lose the ball, you must be upset and sometime act like a mad man just to win back position and when you win the ball back be very patient made the oppostion work their ass off to win the ball back, and to do this just keep the short passing game going, patient and things will open up for you. Defense wins.

Don't blame BSC, the man was given a job and he is doing it to the best of his ability, blame the people who give him the coaching job.

A coach has to do his job, but what makes a coach good is being able to make players better by his teaching, and most of the time time this knowledge comes from your experience as a player, sometimes players think that they know it all but when you can teach a players things about the game this is when you will get success, this is why someone like Latas or myself can really help. The love i have for the game and my country this result really hurts and I know we have the talent this is why it hurts so much, of all the countries in this group we probably have the most players playing pro. But you can have a team of great players and you don't have coaching is no way you will be a winner.
