Football / Re: Thread for the T&T vs Cuba Game (15-Nov-2014)

Maybe Hart could consider using a 3-2-4-1 system.

For example

______________JAN___________
__HOYTE______CYRUS______DAVID
_____BOUCAUD______GEORGE______
_PELTIER__HYLAND____MOLINO____JOEVIN
____________KENWYNE__________

Never liked 3 in the back lot of work for 1 CB. Most teams that tried 3 in the back has failed and had to go back to a 4-man back line.

3 in back can be used in situation when you are going all out for a goal in 2nd half of games

The defense will be fine with some tactical and mental coaching from SH.

Look at the 1st goal French Guiana scored, with only 2 FG attackers in the box you had 4 defenders going to the man with the ball and no one picked up the free man who took the lay-off pass and scored. This is just a lack of awareness from supporting defenders of free players in dangerous scoring positions.

Helping players to defend well in the penalty area is no easy task, but it can be fixed with constantly reminding players on their defensive role (communicate, knowing where ball and man is, close down fast, 2nd defender, don't dive in etc), it only take a second to punish a defense that lose focus.

I am sure SH is addressing this but he probably needs to give an assignment to one of his assistants during games to stay focus on the defense to keep them alert and sharp, seeing that we are conceding bad goals from mediocre opposition.

Coach can use players for all 4 games of the bench in the 2nd half if some players are told to only play 2 games. This may be more helpful instead of using them for 2 full games seeing that our quality player pool is deep.

Hope we don't get to penalty kicks and we beat them in regular time, if we do get to a shootout hopefully the girls get in some practice and given some pointers on taking PK's. Putting your head down and going for a corner is risky, if the the keeper picks correct by moving before you kick then you screwed.

Hope we get games vs more recognize countries. Looking at the body language of KJ after scoring a goal is sad... like the man don't want to celebrate his goal wtf! Can you imagine how pumped... KJ must have been to play vs those small countries. Come on TTFA get some big games and when KJ score we can see some flips.

We are very fortunate to have a good local lad as our coach!

It's a bonus when a coach knows and understand the culture of his players by actually living and learning the game in the same environment.

« on: May 31, 2014, 06:03:12 PM »
Kudos to the TTFA for successfully organizing one of the biggest friendly games we've had in years. In-fact, they didn't need to bribe anyone (England) to play us for World Cup votes and in a time where T&T football is at the rebuilding stage they still managed to get a top quality match.

The other friendly against Iran is also a good catch.

Iran is a top team, they are a World Cup team, so basically, the TTFA managed to organized 2 matches against World Cup teams.

Imagine if they had the finances to do more.

My appreciation to the TTFA.

Keep up the good work.

And there's more to come in Nov, I believe!!
But this is Sheldon Phillips strong area, so I would expect to see even more decent opponents for T&T.
More Kudos should go to the coach, if he didn't turn this team into a competitive team you think TTFA would have got those games under Shabazz??

W. Connection sign 6 foreign players to develop them for next season! Unbelievable! Are we not suppose to be thinking about developing our local base players? Is our local players that weak?.

This is why we can't do shit at the CONCACAF club level, this is a slap in the face for our local players. Small football minds at work again!

SH has a lot of experience and knowledge coaching and developing national youth teams. During this time SH visited some well known academies to observe how they worked in developing there young players and he also worked for a period of time as a national Technical Director.

With such a wealth of knowledge for youth development and reading his vision for the game in this interview it would be a waste of good knowledge if TTFF don't used SH in an official role to our technical department on youth development!

For the senior women team to have a good chance to qualify for the World Cup TTFF should get Stephen Hart involve in some capacity as the present coaching staff have proven they don't have the tactical coaching knowledge to compete at the international level.

"Consideration may be given to the fact that in most countries, the club has supporter groups that manage and rally support, orchestrate match-day activities and urge the vocal support at games.”

This suggestion by Hart would help to bring out more fans and if you can throw in something free occasionally like a team t-shirt, team hat or even a free snack will definitely attract more fans

"Turning to the TTFA, Hart said, “The present financial situation and funding structure does not allow for long term detailed planning at the moment."

HOPE THIS CAN BE FIXED! WE DO NEED LONG TERM DETAILED PLANNING IF WE ARE SERIOUS ABOUT GETTING TO MORE WORLD CUPS!!

This is not the time where you may find the team exploding and winning by big margins, as the coach said this is a period for building and experimenting.

The exploding will come when WCQ starts for 2018!

Football / Time for the Ministry of Sport to give more $ to football
« on: November 16, 2013, 03:23:42 PM »
Seeing our recent run of good performances from our National senior team after such a long run of poor performances, just shows we do have talented footballers and it only took a good coach like Stephen Hart to prove this with the same players.

Is the Ministry of sport willing to inject more $ in football to hire more good coaches like Hart and for more development programs?

Definitely with more funding from the Ministry of Sport we can be one of the top football country in CONCACAF.

Sando i think if you could simplify what u wrote there we will understand what u trying to say,i don't think CK1 ask for a history on promises made by the past admin, all he suggested was if we had any valuable insights and coaching ideas feel free to discuss.
Yeah Coops: I am looking for some constructive info that others may feel ok to share. Maybe things they are doing that are helping the players they work with make significant progress in their development. For example, 3v1 posession is a daily staple; all small sided games have uneven teams (4 v 5) and we use multiple goals etc. i've just put together an outline for our spring training and I am including playing checkers as part of our training (our primary emphasis will be on the principles of play).
You can also work on the the 4 moments of the game:
Offensive
Defefensive
Transition - The moment the ball is won
Transition - The moment the ball is lost

Btw in the 1st video you said the kids are 8-9 years old are they playing on 11 aside field?

I posted this video on another thread( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xac4TkqR04w ) but want to start a new one to discuss different ideas and concepts related to developing young players. If you think you have some valuable insights and coaching ideas please feel free to discuss.

I also just came across this one :

he get a free trip to trinidad, so he liming...

au revoir... that is the last of keon...
Probably had a big time hangover! Could of still made up a feeling sick excuse.

Sometimes players coming from a small third world country and making a pro team overseas just can't deal with a little fame.

Hopefully KD can realize the opportunity to represent his country is an honor and you only have this opportunity for a short period of time.

The respect the country is showing Chris and Carlos may make KD think about his childish actions and an apology can show he is a genuine rasta.

I hope i'm not making any mistakes here but if i can recall the history of Coaches our Women have had over the years, with the exception of the foreign Coaches our Women programs have never gone any where, please don't call Coach Hart he alone can't handle all our national teams that is if we want him do a good job.

These are some of the Coaches i can recall,Robbie Grinidge,Dexter Skeene,Anton Corneal,Jamaal Shabazz,Marlon Charles etc i might have missed out some not being around (Tallman).
I agree that coach Hart can't handle all our national teams but he can be used as an adviser to the Technical Director.

Hart was involve for many years as a youth coach and technical director for Canada before taking up the coaching duties for Canada men senior team, so his experience with youth development can certainly help our football.

Seeing more poor performances from our teams than good the best suggestion is for TTFF to speak to Hart about getting more involve in our overall football development as an adviser and leave it up to Hart to say yes or no.

Anyone can see that Anton needs help!

just joining in on this one ... the facts really look bad ...23 against 0 in favour ... in a serious country the tech staff would have been fired  ...have we fired anyone ? I hope we have, since keeping them in place wont change a thing.
For years Marlon Charles was our womens coach ..maybe Tallman can say just how long he held the position ... check out his record ...yet the man seemed unmoveable ...untouchable and impregnable ...and you ask ..based on what ??
I have always felt that if sufficient time and resources are allocated to our women  we can get better results than our men in a shorter term ....the gap is far too wide in the mens game ... I would like to see Mr Hart, or someone who clearly understands the modern game as he does, be appointed to the job with sponsorship support as to take us to the next level.
Having Mr Hart also control our Technical Program is a good idea, he has experience in this field with Canada.
In a short time look how he has turned around our men's team by having them play as a well organize team!

89
Obvious difficiencies!! the coaches and its technical personnel need to be accountable , again they were literally out coached in every department  plain and simple..... 26 goals in three (3) games is madness.. its unacceptable ... i can just see  the many officionados willing and ready to pounce  giving the various reasons  for the results as it relates  coming up against canada and the u.s !!!...   one of the problems i'm having is a resignation of fear /  the defeatist mentality  among many of our national coaches , lets face it .... its there .!!  that mentality must change  ...i do not believe its far fetched we must seek to change that among many of the other factors.....    pls note we cannot go  from competing so well in( 2010  at the worlds in trinidad) .against the likes of nigeria , korea, and chile to being ...ok i'll save  it .... was anything learned from then ..... its clear something has gone wrong .... am out
In 2010 there was someone who had the experience and knowledge in charge of the women's program, that is why the girls did good.

The fiasco that took place in this tournament has nothing to do with the girls. The blame is totally on the poor knowledge of our technical and coaching staff, as I do believe we have the players to compete on any stage in CONCACAF.

90
Look at the stat summary

Stats Summary: USA / TRI
Shots: 39 / 0
Shots on Goal: 16 / 0
Saves: 0 / 8
Corner Kicks: 16 / 0
Fouls: 11 / 7
Offside: 3 / 0
Nice for pointing out the stats! The reality was for the people in charge i.e. Technical Director who needed to step up and say to TTFF sorry but these girls are not ready and and we should skip this tournament but then again you needed a Technical Director who knows the game to make that call! Can you imagine the negative impact about the game, sick feelings and embarrassment this tournament has done to these girls. Who in TTFF really cares about this?? No one.

Coach these girls can do better, much better. Not saying that they would have beaten everyone but they could have put on a better show. The girls are not feeling embarrassed coach, they are feeling disappointment. Maybe you are embarrassed, but I am not. Why? I have seen what the girls can do, and I know it was a tough experience for them so I think disappointment might be a better description.

Coach answer me this, do you think the girl felt as though they could have at least won one game?
I don't think before a game any player thinks they are going to lose. But looking at the group they knew that it would  be tough vs the USA and Canada. I am sure they had a good feeling about beating Guatemala.

I can understand losing to the USA and Canada (but not by that much). look Guatemala lose 8-0 to Canada and 7-0 to USA and then Guatemala turn around and beat us 7-0. This clearly shows that something is wrong with the technical and coaching staff and NOT THE GIRLS!

This is not some minor league we are talking about this is International football.
