i bet zidane would kill trinidad
It baffles me that a player who has scored numerous incredible shots from 30-35 yrds out, can't convert from the penalty spot....I know that is extremely over-simplified thinking, but ah couldn't help but ponder that.....
I have been watching England (and supporting them) for real years and it is always the same.
They DO NOT have real big game players that is why thay usually lose big games. They have plenty hyped up players who do well at club level and the national team is definitely hard to beat but they never have enough players to take control of a big game and spur the team on.
The penalty shootouts just highlight th efact that the players lack either the ability or the forttude to perform when necessary.
Also Sven will take plenty stick for picking poor squad (why pick Walcott and not play him?) and making bad subs (Carragher to take a penalty?).
The biggest joke is that now they have McClaren for the next two years.
Kicker,
I agree with yuh changes 100% but I doubt Parreira will make them. Is either he real loyal(have endless faith in them) to his players or he have no balls.
One change he should definitely make is Gilberto Silva for Emerson. He could get by to an extent with old men Cafu and Roberto Carlos because experience could counteract their lack of speed. It might be the case he want their game to be a lil slower because Cicinho and Gilberto is real pace.
Emerson just killing the midfield, he need a spot on de bench next to zagallo.
Brazil hasn't really been improving in my opinion. I think they improved against Japan because they selected the players more suited to this tournament..younger, more mobile players who can move the ball around at speed, and inject some imagination.....They went back to their old line-up again today against Ghana, and they looked slow & unenterprising again.....If Brazil makes the following changes to their starting line up, I think they will be hard to beat:
Cicinho in for Cafu
Gilberto in for R.Carlos
Gilberto Silva in for Emerson
Robinho in for Adriano
...first two men off the bench being Juninho & Ricardinho........
Recently I notice that Cafu & Roberto Carlos collect the ball standing up too often, as opposed to collecting it moving...it makes a huge difference...and they don't have the pace or fitness to command the flanks like they used to...time to change the guard.....I hope they make me eat my words if Parreira persists with them, because I would like to see Brazil win it again.
seems like this could be a conscious decision - part of pereirra's overall strategy. clearly, if pereirra wanted man running up and down the pitch he would make the appropriate changes. sure, brazil not "looking" good - but it's a long tournament.
added: when we see how dese refs acting up - the experienced players getting away with more sh*t.
1 - NOTHING BEATS LIVE FOOTBALL
2 - Argentina are awesome....but the brightest star doh always shine de longest
3 - Best performances I have ever seen from any T&T sporting team given the caibre of opposition. The fact that it was done back to back is even more impressive.
4 - Watching players like Van Nistelroy, Van Persie, Robben, Prso, Mijailovic, and Larsson work their socks off to create movement, space, and tracking back (ALL GAME I MIGHT ADD) shows just what is needed at this level of forward players. I think Stern John has done remarkably well for T&T throughout the years but honestly....there is a reason Ronaldo got so much criticism for his "performance" against Croatia. That type of effort is not what is required at this level. Stern John produces that (if "produces" is the correct word) every game. He might go on to score the odd goal but based on those 2 games I saw...his con's outweighing his pros. Glen puts him to shame when he comes on because immediately...T&T's attack goes from static to mobile. I think Beenie's plan is for Stern to hold up the ball and then allow the mids to join in the attack. The reality is....the ball is pumped long....Stern goes for it....and promptly, possession is given back to the opposition. Kenwyne Jones held the ball up better than Stern in his appearance against England.
5 - Beenie get's an A so far for his tactics. He is just being realistic. We were never going to try and play openly and get any result against either Sweden or England. I would question the following however:
At the start of the 2nd half, England switched Crouch onto Sancho. We NEVER adjusted. The mismatch was glaring yet, in spite of several warning signs (Crouch heading over etc), we never made the switch to put Lawrence on Crouch
England's tactics when they brough on Lennon were clear. Let him run down the right and square the ball back for Beckham and Beckham would cross into de box. Beckham NEVER had any pressure on him. It was like he was taking free kicks on the right. Recipe for disaster and disaster did come. At least somebody to pressure him would have been right. Theobald was doing an ok job of pressuring Beckham at least, but once Beckham reverted to right back, nobody put pressure on him. We just let that play develop.
We need a mobile striker like Glen who at least would put pressure on the defence EARLIER than he came on. Prior to him coming on....it was a walk in the park for the opposition defence.
IN HINDSIGHT, we could have probably used defensive subs a bit earlier but that to me was less important than not switching our 2 centre backs so that Lawrence could resume covering Crouch.
5 - T&T can win against Paraguay but we will need to have much more mobility in attack from the start. Whitley needs to step up his game. Hopefully, Latas will play some part.
6 - Never been prouder of our team, our supporters, my country. An awesome time.
Fellaz....ah want to know if there were any probelsm at the gates thus far with tickets?
You can't tell me, dat dis guy don't take any drugs?
It seems to be a little bit dangerous, why don't we use the same stuff for our player's?
What do you think will happen, when this man shoot a ball, will the goalkeeper survive?
