Lilman has given up the Sport. Like his brother, he was hoping to finish his last year on a High. Unlike his brother however, wherby the final University meet was cancelled completely due to Covid, this year it was rescheduled to a later date, just before his exams. As he is in the Honours program, he made the choice to concentrate on the finals of his courses.
In addition, we lost the matriarch of our family, my mom. Thankfully she had a great run (101) and didn't suffer to much, except the isolation due to the lockdowns. This affected all of us, and his heart wasn't in it anymore.
 It was a great run swim. Thanks for everyone who supported the kids over the years, and thanks Flex et al for this site to have us document their experiences and get a little fun over the years.

Condolences and Blessings to those who have been more seriously affected over these last couple years. I know it has been difficult for to many people. Best wishes going forward. Hopefully we will all manage a little sw.net lime and reminisce on the good times before, and during, celebrating the beauty of those we have lost, and those we have brought, later at some better and more celebratory time in the future. As God wishes !

There are about 3 Canadian girls missing. 2 play in league 1 and another in NCAA. I forget their names. I believe they played u20 years ago.

She's actually 31.

But what happened. I mean Carli Lloyd was 39 up to last game. Barring injury or pregnancy, King was one of the few class players we had, in spite of being played out of effective position, imo.

Expand.

Sorry just saw it. Just thought if we had a defensive replacement she could be used as a midfielder, as she was imo one of the better passers of the ball, besides her strong defensive abilities.

When a team signs on to the competition, there are Regs that apply to hosting and Regs that apply to visiting. The only "gray area" is what constitutes force majeure and that [somewhat] rests within CONCACAF's discretion. Although that's the case, the Regs are worded in a way that would NOT Include visa denials as grounds for force majeure. Indeed, a visa denial under most constructions would not constitute force majeure. Think of force majeure as being invoked by an event the scale of a pandemic or an earthquake etc. It isn't triggered by poor planning. But visa denials are not necessarily about poor planning ... the applicant could have produced documentation to his/her best and planned perfectly and be denied.

The underlying issue in CONCACAF is that there is not a bilateral imposition of a visa regime and frankly no other confederation has to deal with this issue on the same scale for intra-confederation travel. Within UEFA? No. Within CONMEBOL? No. Maybe teams that face Australia have some issues but I doh think it plays out as it does vis-à-vis the US and maybe Canada. Within CAF? No.

It's a highly distorted arrangement that frustrates the purpose of national, regional and international competition. It should be revisited. We often see it as a micro issue (a club here or a player there etc.), but it is a macro problem.

Thank you..nb: the planning I referred to was Concacaf admin, not Haiti. The US Immigration service (if even correct in their operations)should not be the decider who gets the points and moves on. Concacaf should make the necessary pre or re-arrangements as required, in conjunction with the participating countries and  member associations. The current pandemic should have prepared everyone, admin and country for such unusual eventualities. What happens when Concacaf (US/Canada) host World cup. Possibly no more Mexicans we already have enough    Everybody can come (refugees, Syrians- room and board) but not Haitian footballers, dem carrying plague. No man, Concacf could have had this under control or inform Haiti of the possibilties from the application process. So if US immigration decides no CFU teams nor Central American teams given the current state ? I think it's only fair CFU teams get equal points. therefore , all games decided in the political arena. No football.

Agreed with both of you. Whereas countries are not going to change their visa policies, the burden to offer an alternative venue should always be on the host team. CONCACAF could have asked NE Rev to play those games in Mexico or DR.

Agreed with all said. But that's not what i'm understanding. I mean, especially during these restrictive border issues due to the pandemic. Is it possible that all US home games can be automatic 3 points for the home team, why bother then. Let's say Mexico goes the same route etc.. I'm a little taken aback at the lack of proper organization since all was known long in advance, 'for many years'. You mean, a set plan,' security, monitoring, arrangements, discussion, preparation' something could not have been in place ?    All Caribbean teams should pull out if the CFU doesn't address this unfair decision. Or am I speaking from a ignorant perspective. Further explanation may be necessary for me, if y'all don't mind.

If we thought the Olympic qualifying experience of Haiti's Olympic team was tragic, the experience of Arcahaie FC is worse. Covid, runaway players and a GK who didn't travel who claims his passport got soaked. The first two are what they are ... But that 3rd item tempts suspicion.

And the "drama" of that opening goal.

Sadly, Cavaly de Leogane has just learnt what it means to be a caribbean club, and especially one from Haiti.

Funny how CONCACAF rewards NE Revolution for the US refusal to grant entry visas to the Cavaly players! I would believe if the host country refuses to grant visas to the players of a visiting team, CONCACAF should require the host team to seek alternative venues for the games. NE Rev should have forfaited, not Cavaly.

Do you know what was the reason behind the visas refusals ?

Fully-vaccinated football fans will be allowed to attend Thursday's FIFA Women's World Cup qualifier between Trinidad and Tobago and Nicaragua, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo. The match kicks off at 3pm, and fans will be allowed entry free of charge.

Fans will occupy the uncovered section of the stadium. No parking will be allowed on the stadium compound.

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) on Tuesday thanked the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Sport and Community Development for facilitating and granting approval.

All covid19 safe-zone protocols will be observed and fans must be in possession of their vaccination cards. Wearing of marks will also be mandatory.

Blackman, Anthony siblings shine in choppy waters at CARIFTA 5K trials

JUNIOR swimmers braved the choppy water of Las Cuevas Bay on Sunday morning at the Amateur Swimming Association of TT (ASATT) CARIFTA Swimming Championships Open Water 5K trials.

The weather was relatively cool, but the rough waters and current made the swim a challenging one for the 13 swimmers.

Parents, guardians and siblings cheered on the small group of swimmers.

Nikoli Blackman, 16, finished first overall and also won the 16-18 boys category in one hour, six minutes and 58.39 seconds (1:06:58.39). He was followed by the Anthony siblings Zachary and Zoe.

Zachary was second overall and first in the 14-15 boys age group in 1:09:27.17. Zoe was third overall, but claimed the title in the 16-18 girls category when she stopped the clock in 1:11:21.09.

Blackman, a Fatima College student, was thankful for the opportunity to compete again and was satisfied with his performance. “I love swimming open water since I was about the age of eight years old when I first started swimming.

“It’s good (the performance). (It’s) the first time we swam open water in the last three years. It feels nice to go back in the water…the current was something that I did not miss at all.”

Speaking more about the water conditions, Blackman said, “It was tough, but not the worst that I ever swam in.”

Blackman’s performance was enough to qualify for the CARIFTA Open Championships in Barbados in April.

Blackman said the other athletes did have impressive efforts.

During the covid19 pandemic, Blackman said he tried to stay active. “During covid we did not have any swimming, so I would run around the neighbourhood, (do) a little push-ups.”

Zachary, 14, of Fatima College said, “I am feeling pretty good (about the performance). I stayed with a good pace.”

Zachary said the conditions made the swim challenging.

“I found it was very rough out there.” He said one side of the course was difficult, saying, “(It) was very rough, the waves (were) pushing us back and a lot of current.” Zachary also aimed to stay active during the pandemic.

“We have been doing gym…a little exercises at home just to keep ourselves motivated and keep us moving.”

He was satisfied that his effort earned him a place on the TT open water team.

“I feel very proud of myself. I always try to push myself.”

Zoe, 16, would have liked to complete the race in a faster time.

“I definitely could have done better,” she said. “I am satisfied that I came in first for the girls and that I qualified (for CARIFTA).”

Zoe, a student of Bishop Anstey High School, wants to work on her fitness. Discussing the conditions, Zoe said, “It was actually very, very rough. (When) swimming you have to try to keep your head up to see the buoy and you can’t even see it because the waves are so high.”

Zoe said she tried to “gauge” where she was going.

In an effort to stay fit over the past two years, Zoe said, “I tried to go training as much as I can…I also go to gym.”

Blackman and the Anthony siblings all attended the same Primary school - Bishop Anstey Junior School.

Any comments on our regional WC standings ? Are ppl impressed or  satisfied with our regional representatives and their play so far ?

i know it's mostly the usual culprits, I myself am quite impressed with the Canadians, performing without a key star, and the coach shining light on new ones. The charges currently being led by a older Can-Trini (38- definitely to old for a Trini team ), who managed to score the luckiest goal I ever see. Also, the Larin/David play can be very dangerous if they get to the big show.

Herdman already proven as a world class women's manager, is making a strong case for a top World Class men's manager. Most impressed with his selections, even if I myself think a couple were although decent, still seemed to be laborers, he somehow managed to make the unit gel.

After all, these are the Associations we have to overcome to even dream of going to the top International level. They seem to manage to do more things correct than wrong. Maybe we can stop trying to sabotage ourselves and stop from getting from point A to B with a square wheel.

Not sure what's gone on here but in the last 2 games Maylee was absolutely useless. She's been great but at this point she won't be missed on the pitch.

Define or refine that.

In a game on a team that was poor but had some good indivual glimpses and touches she was non existent. She's spent force.

Which of the others players on the team did you consider as being useful?

Think ‘useless’ is an incorrect word, she didn’t seem to be on the team sheet at all in 2 nd game - is that when the issue started. Will watch 1st game again.

I just watched the 1st Half. Maylee was not at all useless, she wasn't a spark but definitely was equal to the task (at least against Panama). No, if Maylee didn't grow from since I observed her at U17 WC -being in a non-development environment can restrict that - the only issue might be her mouth. At that young age, i found her a little hard on her teammates and support staff in undesirable team performances. I would not make any assumptions as to what was or is the past or current issue. Yet, irregardless, the team has to move on, in spite of most unfortunate circumstances and losses of personnel, time and games.
 Is the direction that Jones decide to take the team best, don't know. However, 5 years from now, neither Maylee or Yaya would be part of it, unless they choose to be in a supportive capacity, right now they choose not. Dreams can't stop for the few young ladies who would like a little chance, if only to represent, get a trip, or an education etc. They had theirs, they represented full and well, got their opportunities. Proud of their commitment, next up, next step.

what is wrong with the development of football players in the WI? we have to be continually hunting for foreign talent in all these islands.

Just an Opinion. Very difficult to solve due to the amount of variables.
Finances, status - personal and social, Time, Early and current  Emigration of potentials and future offspring for Education and Career opportunities, Lack of On island competition pool., lack of Knowledgeable and wide experience support - even if some do return (or stay) and give totally of themselves, Political climate and Agendas.

I think no alternative but to consider all possibilities for international successes, especially the better the development process, the more emigration would most likely occur.

Not considering US college scene, here's a partial example of loss of visual, demonstrative and competitive ppl that would affect a more positive and  rapid developmental process.

Falling-out blamed for failed programme: Bad Wolf Sports reeling after ‘Sunday Express’ exposé

Part III of an investigation into football scholarships in Trinidad and Tobago.

BAD WOLF SPORTS (BWS) managing director Perry Deakin has blamed a tussle between Police Commissioner Gary Griffith and fired coach Terry Fenwick over Griffith’s son not being allowed to play on the national team for the top cop’s decision to blank BWS’ scholarship programme.

Following publication of a Sunday Express investigation, headlined “Gary’s Bad Wolf”, on June 27, 2021, Deakin wrote Moorland Private School in the UK, stating, “...I believe we have been dragged into the middle of a significant ‘falling-out’ between Terry Fenwick and Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith (it seems Terry did not bring his son on as a substitute for his first senior cap in a recent International and they have fallen out quite badly about it). I am absolutely livid that we are being embroiled in this, particularly as we had set out to make a genuine difference with the proposed programme which would impact positively upon youngsters in the region. Fortunately, I have significant written records regarding correspondence with FFF (Football Factory Foundation) and TTPS...”

Fenwick is BWS’ technical director as well as founder and director of FFF, a charitable sports organisation which billed the TTPS $995,000 for expenses related to Griffith’s 2019 Commissioner’s Cup football programme in T&T.

Eyebrows were raise when Gary Griffith III was named by Fenwick as part of the 23-man squad to travel to the Bahamas for a World Cup qualifier on June 5, 2021.

The young Griffith had barely a handful of competitive games in his career and did not have any caps for the T&T team.

Business sponsorship

Deakin’s e-mail to Moorland noted he had been made aware of “an article over in Trinidad which attempts to paint the programme as ‘not genuine’ and/or ‘suspicious’”.

“BWS were engaged to explore the possibility of creating an ‘on-island’ programme for T&T youths which we could deliver without the need for the scholars to leave the island—Moorlands delivering edu­cational elements and The Football Factory Foundation delivering practical coaching...,” he wrote.

Deakin stated the scholarship concept had established interest among the business community in T&T, with businesses providing sponsorship to the TTPS which would then be diverted to the FFF, which would deliver coaching.

An ongoing Sunday Express investigation has revealed that BWS, which names Fenwick as its technical director, along with his business partners Deakin and Peter Miller, entered into an arrangement with Griffith and, by extension, the T&T Police Service earlier this year to create “and deliver on-island BTEC Sporting Scholarship Programmes (Levels 2 and 3) for identified and qualifying scholars across Trinidad and Tobago”.

To execute the BTEC programme, Bad Wolf Sports entered into a partnership with Moorland.

The TTPS Sports Club had wired £20,000 to Bad Wolf on May 11, 2021—but on June 1, a stop order was placed on the funds.

Responding to questions from the Sunday Express on June 12, Griffith said they (TTPS), “received a document from the University (Moorland) asking us to pay the funds through Bad Wolf. Not knowing who Bad Wolf was, the TTPS did its due diligence after which we decided to stop the payment”.

Moorland head teacher: No contact with TTPS

In an interview with the Sunday Express on June 30, Moorland head teacher and proprietor Jonathan Harrison indicated neither he nor any representative from the school had contacted the TTPS seeking a partnership.

Harrison’s recollection contradicts that made by Griffith who responded to questions sent by the Sunday Express via WhatsApp on June 12, stating he never had any interaction with Bad Wolf and the first time he heard of the company was via a letter from the “University of Moorland who wanted a football partnership with the TTPS”.

“We were approached by Moorland Private School with an offer of scholarships for players in the Commissioners Cup... I need to point out though that we never engaged or had any discussions with Bad Wolf Sports,” Griffith stated.

According to Harrison, Moorland School operates as an international coeducational day and boarding school “with transparency, integrity and honesty in the development of the whole child’s social, emotional, academic and sporting welfare”.

“The background from a Moorland School perspective, which can be fully supported via e-mail chains is that: Moorland School was approached by Bad Wolf Sports through a mutual acquaintance to work in partnership with The Football Factory Foundation, via Terry Fenwick, your National Football Manager and the Trinidad and Tobago Police Department, under the personal supervision of Commissioner Griffith.”

The head teacher explained the nature of this partnership was to provide opportunities for ­underprivileged youth in T&T, with Moorland offering online technical coaching and academic support to ensure children progressed through a BTEC Level 3 Sports Programme, which is equivalent to three English A-Levels.

“Moorland School would also provide additional English language and mathematical support to ensure that students met the qualification entry requirements,” he said.

As a gesture of good faith, Harrison explained Moorland was required to deposit “£12,000 into Bad Wolf Sports account, (which can be evidenced) to show commitment to the development of the programme and other sponsors would be brought to the table by Bad Wolf Sports, so that course delivery costs could be met”.

Harrison said, “I feel very upset that it would appear that the school has now lost £12,000 and certainly even more devastated that the school should be linked in any negative way to Trinidad and Tobago, as our reasons for becoming involved were genuine and supportive to the people of the island, as too were our intentions to make friends within the region. I certainly hope that in time something positive will be born out of a programme whose intended aims were to support youth development and promote opportunities within the young.”

We acted in good faith

Emphasising that Moorland School has acted 100 per cent in good faith, Harrison said Moorland “has received zero payments and zero uptake on the promised programme to date”, adding that “Bad Wolf Sports have communicated the cause behind the programme delay is a breakdown in relationships between Terry (Fenwick) and Police Commissioner Griffith”.

“I cannot personally comment as I have never spoken to either gentlemen and perhaps as the headteacher of Moorland School I have been a little naive and trusting as I have not conducted the usual diligence as the connection had been forged by a previously trusted associate.”

Pointing out that Moorland are the current regional and national champions of England, having produced many professional players, Harrison said the school currently educates over 20 professional Academy level players for clubs such as Manchester United and Manchester City FC.

Harrison also denied that football great Yaya Touré was in any way linked to the proposed programme.

Bad Wolf, in its proposal to Griffith, had indicated Touré along with Griffith would be ambassadors for the programme.

Didn't even realize this game done and bout 5 others started. I must be real doozing off and loosing interest with meh old self.

First time hearing about this coach. Congrats to him.

From your neck of the woods Deeks..he's a talent and talented coach. had the pleasure of speaking with him when the kids represented. Very motivating guy, yet quiet and very personable. Both boys were especially very impressed with him and his easy going manner and encouragement, without him hardly knowing them, and although at the time they weren't able to produce pb's, with his few moments prior to racing they were encourage to accomplish much and came close to their pb's in winning medals for TT. Even at a time where they felt like (or made to feel like) foreigners by our own local ppl who didn't know them. I must also commend Mr Brian Wickham and the SeaHawks crew for their forever grateful and undying support as well.
Unfortunately, at the time such a collaboration wasn't possible. I believed and now know for sure, they would have been able to achieve greater successes under these guys tutorship as far as swimming and possibly even life goals. Yet with Covid, one can never know. That is what really makes Dylan and Dexter accomplishment so great, for those who are in the know of what it takes to medal in anything in swimming.
Especially from a small pool of individuals.
ps: I sincerly hope they can complete this journey and not get sidetracked with the pandemic or pandemic-like political jumbieness that always somehow seems to find a way to affect the doers - as opposed to the talkers - of TT.

Trinidad and Tobago Football Association to hosts U17, U20 female trials

THE Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) is working towards bolstering its pool of young female players.

On Wednesday, the association stages open try outs for females for the national Under-17 and Under-20 team selection at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Tobago and the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva on December 22.

These sessions continue at both venues on Thursday, December 29 and 30.Players for the women’s Under-20 trials must be born on or after January 1, 2002 while players for the Under-17 must be born on or after January 1, 2005.

The U17 Sessions will run from 11am to 2pm and the U20s takes place from 2pm to 5pm each day. Registration for U17s is from 10:45am to 11:45am while the U20s register between 1:45pm and 2:45pm

All persons interested in attending the sessions must register by logging on to https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfR05TJf2hlY281vsrV0bFWEBj_VhpWEmCqfE1_Y7ts5juquQ/viewform. According to a statement issued by TTFA, “Players are advised to submit all relevant medical information (injuries, asthmatic status, etc) prior to these screenings.

“Submission of a medical assessment report is also encouraged to ensure that the player is cleared to partake in any physical training.

“Players are also requested to attend the sessions with one red and one white jersey, black shorts, red socks, shin guards and boots.

“Parents or accompanying guests will not be allowed into the venues in accordance with the covid-19 regulations at all national stadia.”

I have said many times in here our coaches are NOT first class and our swimmers are not getting enough quality competition to make them better. We need to hire International coaches so our local coaches can learn from them and we need to invest more money for our local swimmers to travel around the world to face better opposition instead of just only depending on these regional competitions that do not get our swimmers ready for anywhere close to the big stage. They are not meeting the Olympic standard or world champs standard every year!

Do not come tell me about the Govt, what happen to the Swimming federation in T&T? They do not have bright minds who fail to see this?

When we hire foreign coaches, you do know we have to pay them. Where is corporate TT on this. Of course the swimming federation is involved.

Dylan Carter has (corr:) qualified 3rd going into finals and broke the national record. Since being coached by local coach Dexter Browne he has done pb in almost all of his competitive events . Well done Dylan and Coach Dexter.

On another note. Joshua has added his TT mom’s name to his competition iD. Joshua Liendo EDWARDS.

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) wishes to thank the public for the overwhelming interest in our Men’s National Under 20 Tryouts.

With this in mind and in accordance with our health and safety protocol, the TTFA  advises all registered participants for the upcoming Men’s National Under 20 Tryouts of the following schedule as it applies to each player based on their surname initial.

Saturday December 11th, 2021 – All players with the surname initial A,B,C,D. Start time 8:00am

Saturday December 18th, 2021 – All Players with the surname initial E to K. Start Time 8:00am

Tuesday December 21st, 2021 – All Players with the surname initial L to W. Start Time 9:00am

Please note that only registered players will be allowed entry into the venue starting this Saturday. Players born on or after January 1st, 2003 are eligible for these tryouts.

All sessions will take place at Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva.

All Players are requested to walk with the following:

White Jersey / Black Shorts / Either Red or White or Black Socks and football boots.

Further details of tryouts in Tobago will be provided soon.

nb: previously there was an interesting discussion and exchange of ideas concerning football development. However, i am still under the impression that nothing cannot develop until we are able to discipline, organize and develop our lives. Then maybe football has a chance.

This article I think demonstrates an opinion of TT society, but i think it can be naturally extended to our football (amongst everything else). Not Covid, not Fenwick, not Admin...Not US, but us. So how do we fix us  and survive ? I have an idea .
