Foreign based will make up 90% of this team and yes they better than the locals.

This is the part that still has me worried for a couple reasons:

1. So only 10% of the final squad will have been training for more than 2 weeks with Leo.  The rest starting over from scratch next week, learning the new style etc. and will have the same 5-6 days of training before Panama.  So basically the past two weeks was pointless for 90% of the squad.

2. The new quick-passing style you described seems more suited to the local-based players. The UK-based men just come from 8 months straight playing boom-kick, long ball style.  It will not be an easy adjustment for them to make.

the onus is on the foreign based to make the adjustment, if they can't, they won't make it. That is what I expect from all this. The most beneficial ting of having such a different coach is he do not have any favorites, it is who can do the job(i.e. play his system) or not NOW. The Rest who are there right now are operating on what has transpired in the past, and therefore would feel less than motivated. If the foreign based don't adjust, I gaurantee you they would not be selected. If they do. Either way, whether we are good eneuff or not, we would, given the circumstanes of having a coach for such a short period, we would still have a better team in the long run... if only from player effort... it's all hypothetical, the proof is yet to be seen

I repeat
There is no motivator for the weakest of the best, dem same fellas will probably give a better performance, when they are back with their own clubs playing against NE stars... I predict NE stars goin to have a very tuff year for that win... We have fellas who for all intents and purposes think dey are professionals, even before they were professionals....it is the way of the youth in sport today..they dress like the stars, act like the stars, THEY are the stars....anyway that is orf d topic

this is the ting Alberta
"Contary to assertions; I am not blaming the coach nor do I see immediate overnight  success " - it is precisely what you are asserting.

" I am questioning  the fact that if we have the best of the locals should we not expect better results; simple statement?"
You are questioning with a simple statement...therefore do you want an answer or a counter statement...either way, there is a couple of answers for your question/statement on the Touches report post.

Thaanks for the report and the game breakdown but you know the BOTTOM LINE is that asquad who are representative of the best locals lost the game.Period.

No Excuses ;  Rome was not build in a day but we have no time for excuses. If we have the best of the local pros, we expect better results.

You for real bredda... it is practice...it is to see how the operation going, and wha tactics effective or ineffective to suit the player. Even the Peru game is practice...nobody doh need no excuse...yuh ever play football nah? Me neva know ah all-star team to beat up no club team jus so...even jus for pride, and if yuh have friends, and family watching yuh too, Star boy team dead...they might do everything better, but they not beating we..I could see how that possible..

Especially it have fellas who get retained, who know they ass is grass, by next week. I missed 1-5 of the better players cause I knew who would be motivated, those that have a real shot. And I only missed theobald cause I thought the injury might of restricted him...dey rest of all stars know they is the best locals, but not the best for T&T..
Meanwhile, NE have something to prove, even though they start of with a bad seaon, they still champs. The men on they team who didn't make, want to show, why dey shoulda be there, dem not studying bout cut down the road..dem only studyin, we is d real stars, NE stars..if dey lose will dey was supposed to lose, buh if dey win, dey could always say, 20yrs from now, they beat T&T best...psych..
Peru club doh care if we win, hell dey might score ah own goal for we...Jack doin something for dem.
El salavador want we beat Panama & Gautamala bad..bad...History
D only games herein we can pass judgement on is Panama & Guatamala...all else has reasonable performance restrictions.

I have a question.  Beenhakker has been working for 10 days.  Exactly how much time must elapse before T&T axes another coach.
Ah had dat on a test last year, and ah fail, lemme se if ah get it right this time. 11 days? ;D

....
The modern wing back has to be

1- Athletic
2- Fast
3- Extremely fit
4- Able to recover QUICKLY when caught out of position
5- Put pressure on the opposing winger/wide player both offensively and defensively

This is why ah moving Jones back to where he should be playing...Because he young, good and has attacking abilities doesn't make his best position forWARD, jus because some desperate English coaches think so. Most goals he score with is head, not deft skills, and nose for goal, ability..
Ah pretty sure Leo and Kenwyn wil realize this..

I really don't have a clue who to pick. But based on the Dutch backdround of the coaches, as well, as there past experience  (year of coaching and playing, I saw Wim play for Cosmos)
Locals I feel will make, mind you I haven't seen many of the locals, so a lot of this is based on hearsay, and second hand info. In no way this could be a prediction or best team for me, this a just whom I think will perform in tryouts. (ah brakesin plenty to say who, ent?)
Williams,
Charles,Thomas, Daniel
Dwarika, Eve, Whitley
Pierre
picking another 14
Ince
Rojas, John,Jones,(Dog or Lawrence, or King)
Edwards, Birchall,Tiger, Spann, Yorke,Rahim
John,Sam, Glen

I woulda ah still put Anton up dey

Foreign vs Local eh?

And here I was thinkin all dis time all a dem was Trinis wit de possible exception of Birchall who still choosin to take a chance to represent we.

Oh well.....

Not my Term, is this board term..When people say we should be playing with an all-local squad, as opposed to our best squad. The suggestion, implied a differentation. For me, I choosing the best squad. When the best squad is chosen, people saying how local youths getting diss and mess up, cause they showing up for practice, and not getting pick. Again, seperation. I just referring then to the language that posters unnerstan.
Nuff man ride Jamaica bout how dey bring back Brits to make it. I say, Jamaica went WC.
"Doh jump on horse back, if all yuh ever ride before is bicycle" for sure yuh go end up on yuh bam-bam , yet yuh could always get up and keep trying.

Football / Re: No Latapy Comeback for T&T.
« on: May 10, 2005, 12:51:10 AM »
rocwell, I glad for this decision, but read Palos and coops previous post.
Nobody have asked the man to dead and give up possible career for Country. They ask the man to play. Falkirk moved within their right, "go or else".
If ever there was a time he could take the chance to do that is now. Falkirk without Latapy, will soon be relegated, and they know that. So their main concern is injury, not his development as coach. Yuh think the name Latapy has already made for himself, he can't get a decent coaching job in Scotland or Potugal? Yuh think money and livelihood is an issue, all these years he was playing for free, and he now going to cash in?
I think not. Latapy chose a few years ago," enough is enough". I could understand that, ah not happy with it, but that is what it came too.
Is SPL bredda, one of the most physically demanding leagues in the world, and he starring. He that good.
It wasn't the future of T&T football we talking bout, it is competing in a few games to help find the "Road to Germany". Shim, he may not even had have to play, just showing some support would have gone some ways. Just personally talking to a few players. Just pointing the way to greatness to some of our aspiring youngsters, who willing to try.
I'm not , would never denigrate his greatness as a representative of T&T football in the past, however doh belittle people intelligence bout smooth transition to anything. In the sporting world it rarely has smooth transitions to anything. Even if yuh is a MJ, or closer to our sport, Pele, Maradona, Jurgen Klinsman, Berti Voigts. Everything is sacrifice. So now is our turn....though that is another topic..
For me, finally no more Hook

To bad for Latas. Yet yuh see why a Lot of other Countries dominate we.
Career? Some countries call for people to give dey life.
And meh boy went "home (my term)" to Portugal to tie up some ends. One of our greatest ever, but he "Career" ended with us a few years ago. All the best in his new venture. I do appreciate the straight forwardness and elimination of that aspect of time wasting.

Football / Re: Cornell glenn is all speed no brain
« on: May 09, 2005, 02:25:57 PM »
Lol yuh making meh laugh max it seems you taking this more personal than he probably would however you do make a good point in terms of announcing his lack of brain (on the field mind you) wont actually help him improve as a player but im not exactly in a position to coach him  now am i ? So as a patriot of my team (wether u may think this or not) it is frustrating to me to see a player of obvious athletic ability and some attacking prowess...linger in footballing mediocrity knowing that it is in his hands to part extent that our goalscoring threat will lay it doesnt inspire confidence....so I will express my frustration and state my opinion it wont please everyone  but then thats why its my opinion and not maxg or sam's or cornell.
Personal, not atall. However, I think that some players do read this board, and I just feel that type of criticism, would not be encouraging or beneficial to the player you want to affect. As a matter of fact it is only because I have respect for many of your observations and post, I bothered to comment, and I feel you do know a lot about the game, and may be even able to teach me a thing or two. I understand your frustration, yet if you allow that frustration to develop, it may take away from your own development, as well as mine. As a young aspiring coach, possible future coach, I don't think that is the way to go.
Yes, you expressed your opinion. I just critiqued it. Not because it is Ngozi's opinion or maxg opinion, makes it right or wrong. Usually doh, I think most of the time you and many on the board are right. Yet to get to the actual reality or truth, expect to defend your statement for those that don't understand. Then we all can move forward, as we would be on the same page.

Doh dig bro, Full respect still

Well max first of all that all speed no brain isnt a joke its a fact a sad one at that but just because he is a national player doesnt mean he is above criticism......how would you improve in any aspect of your life if youre not made aware that youre struggling in it?

If he have no brain as you state, you think by announcing his brainlessness (constructive criticism as you seem to think), will make him aware of his defiencies, and help him improve. Cause now he know he doh have no brain, and all the people who have brain who didn't reach, for whatever reason, will direct him down the right path, irregardless, of the people who probably have no brain to select him, coach him, and play him. I can't understand that. But I probably brainless too.

I find Rojas is a good player.  He look comfortable when he has the ball....control it well and ting.

I remember he used to play more midfield before.
His faults look like things that could be worked on with the coaching staff(rsl) over time....just a matter of adapting his approach...be more vigilent marking your man and close down the players faster instead of trying to block the angles and hold them up until help come....almost like he fraid he get beat and no-one behind him so he won't attack the ball.

Show him some tapes and instances where he backing off instead of attacking the ball....and where defenders floating in behind him.  He need to learn real fast or is trouble.
Those things come natural if from young you was always a defender but I eh think he come through the ranks as an out and out defender cuz he coulda dribble.  Avery could school him cuz he attacking the ball right through.

I couldn't see why with 5 midfielders, why the Wingbacks had to be working so hard. It wasn't Rojas and the other fella not closing down, it was the midfield was practically non-existant defensively. This includes Tiger.
Offensively when they had the ball it was only a matter of a very short time before they lost it, try to hit a long ball for the loan forward, or one of the midfields trying to run thru the middle, where the loan forward had to try to make space for them, amongst 5 defenders. Hell there was still at least 3 more they running up against,
When the play breakdown and Chivas countered, Chivas just chipping over the whole defense only chipping over the whole RSL attacking midfield, and lo an behold is, the 5 men coming at RSL Triangle 4. As a defender yuh can't close down when that occurs, as your team would be in a worse orf position. I wish ah coulda draw it on paper.
Tiger was ineffective for me as a T&T national , he played well, but many times on counter just wasn't dey. How yuh like when he get de ball down the wing, and the man just take it. At a time like that, when we throwing all out..nah...He play good, buh he didn't handle it.

Mandey, i live foreign, and I am associated with a group, that send home textbooks and rebuilt computers. We send home two containers every year. The group is spearheaded by MR. Blackman. an ex principal of St. Margrets Boys, belmont. And a Canada wide awarded teacher, living in Mtl(look it up). He is also a founder of my fete-match team, Hilltoppers, and the first caribbean football club in Mtl. That competed in the National league. It was the first senior team I played for, although I was just 16.

Where is Nakhid or what is his present role?Has he been let go? Who replaces "Beenie"? Where/Who are our local students/understudies from this? What is Dog, Sancho, Spann  availability ?

On a personal nb. After a 8 yr hiatus from coaching (semi-pro) I start coaching again today, but I'm starting with a womens senior team . I am expecting 40 women at tryouts today, I have to choose 18. I must admit, I have never been in such a situation (choice) before.
How do I not make the wrong cuts. Anybody have an idea how I should evaluate?
