El Salvador will have blank with Trinidad and Tobago
Tuesday 12 of February, 2008
SAN SALVADOR. After the 12-0 of the Salvadoran selection before Eel, the series against that weak selection practically is defined. The technician of the selection, Carlos of the Cobos, knows it and for that reason already he thinks more about the next rival: Panama. To surpass to the canaleros will not be easy, and for that reason the Mexican wants to have blanks against rivals with similar conditions.

Its better option already is a reality: There will be friendly against Trinidad and Tobago next 21 of March.

"We have to do further on so that the time does not consume to us and to have a plan adapted for the following phase", it aimed Of the Cobos.

"It is necessary to think about the following phase that is against Panama. The group has obtained certain conjunction and for it it is needed to harden a soldier to fire itself against strong equipment ", added.

In agreement with the protreasurer of the Salvadoran Federation of Fu'tbol (FEDEFUT), Robert Flowers, the technician of the selection asked for a blank game before a rival of Caribbean and the contacts with the selection of Trinidad and Tobago began immediately.

"it has been under the request of Carlos of the Cobos, that it wants to face rivals of the caliber of Panama, with its characteristics. It is already almost a fact and it only lacks the company/signature of the contract to make it official, but both federations we have an agreement ", said the federal one.

CONFIRMATION

This was confirmed by the head of press of the Federation of Soccer of Trinidad and Tobago, Shaun Sources, that commented that "triniteño is going away to dispute next the 21 of March in ground. Still they lack some details like the hour of the party, but already it is a fact that will be made the party ", affirmed.

"It is good us to play before an equipment like El Salvador because we know of its trajectory and history, so we want to remove the best possible benefit to him because we also are preparing ourselves to face these eliminatory mundialistas best the possible thing", added Sources.

The present technician of the Caribbean selection is the Colombian Francisco "the Pacho" Maturana, that became position of the equipment after the march of the Dutch Wim Rijsbergen, the past 10 of January.

THE CAMPING

The game before Trinidad and Tobago supposes a change in the plans of the itinerary of the selection for the camping that will be made in Miami, the United States.

The national selection will divide the 17 of March for the country of the north to sharpen its preparation facing the game of return against Eel. Soon it travels 19 or 20 towards Trinidad and Tobago to resolve his commitment of blank later to return to the United States and to go to Washington for the game by the eliminatory mundialistas.

As in the plans the series to Eel is to win to him, míster Of the Cobos lists its preparation facing the game before Panama. Under that perspective, it has asked for the Executive Committee of the FEDEFUT that programs another camping to him, very problamente in Brazil or another South American country.

Here also it has asked for blank games before rivals of greater weight, who could be selections of the South or also Caribbean cone. The director Flowers advanced that talks are even had outposts with the federations of Jamaica or Haiti, to make new blanks.

THE SUBJECT VISAS

For the players who do not have American visa, the federal being does not want to pass pains as at previous times and announced that this 17 of February will begin the proceedings to obtain them with time.

The first concentration by the game of return of the eliminatory mundialistas will be made this 18 of February, and the players will be under the trusteeship of the Mexican of Monday to Wednesday. This dynamics will repeat every week (as long as there are not date Wednesdays of the match Closing 2008) until the 17 of March, when they start off for the foreign camping.

The technical body hope which problems on the part of  the equipment of the first division do not exist to yield to their players/WILLIAMS SANDOVAL, the GRAPH

well don't think he is going to say they are all rubbish.

Given this is the last week, does anybody know of the likely "names in the frame" who you think should be going, just interested to see if any names pop in both lists.

Yorke sweats on Sunderland future

Dwight Yorke confesses he doesn't know what the future holds for him beyond his current Sunderland contract, which is up in the summer.
The veteran returned from a calf injury in last night's reserve defeat to Liverpool and has played a bigger part in this season than many felt he would.

He's been an important player for boss Roy Keane in many recent games, operating in a holding midfield role where he is able to use his passing ability to help the side build from the back.

The ex-Manchester United and Aston Villa favourite will be 37 later this year and only two older outfield players are plying their trade in the elite.

Blackburn's Tugay is the oldest at 37 while Derby's former Sunderland defender, Alan Stubbs, is a month older than Yorke, who admitted: "Who knows what is in store for me next year?

"My contract runs out at the end of the season and I will have to sit and see what happens. Will there be an offer here for me? I don't know.

"In the meantime, I have just got to keep trying to do my best for Sunderland Football Club until the end of the season."

Andy Cole's departure for Burnley last month left Yorke in an elite club of players still active in the Premier League having scored more than 100 top-flight goals – the others being Newcastle's Michael Owen and Tottenham's Robbie Keane.

But he has gradually dropped
deeper for the teams he has represented, showing his qualities in midfield at the highest level for Trinidad & Tobago at the 2006 World Cup.

So what next for him – centre-back?

"Tell me about it!" he grinned. "I can't go much further."

But in a more serious tone, he added: "If I didn't think I could be playing there I would happily walk away from the game today.

"I felt I could play in this position I'm playing today and I feel I can compete with some of the young lads still.

"I'll keep going until the moment comes when I can't help the team or contribute to the team in any way, then I will certainly walk away.

"Right now I'm still enjoying the game, even though I would like to win a few more matches, which would make life a lot easier for all of us."

Yorke has missed Sunderland's last two games, including last weekend's 2-0 home win over fellow strugglers Wigan.

CAUSE FOR ALARM
FPATT president Hislop shocked by Warner comments
Lasana Liburd

Tuesday, February 12th 2008

Up to match day, the national players had to go on the T&TFF's word that they were insured against injury, while England-based players were offered stand-by economy tickets for their return trips. Football team manager David Muhammad said that FPATT was involved in the drawing up of the match contracts but Hislop insisted they never saw the document before the friendly game, which ended goalless.

I now see why Roy Keane mentioned the tickets economy I can understand standby is just ridiculous.  I know there are some issues and we have some muppets in charge of our game, but I feel for you, it must be heartbreaking to have people like that in charge of your football.

I might be wrong here but I would seriously doubt it, its papers being papers.

It will be interesting to see what happens if we are relegated as I said before I seriously doubt he has a clause in his contract, but rather will the club cash in on him is the more likely debate.

I know he is one of your own and without him Sunderland would of been dead and buried without him, but a lot of people have forgotten that before this season noone in the prem wanted him the 2 interested parties were Derby and Sunderland. The likelyhood is  he wouldn't be at Sunderland if the Nugent deal hadn't of fallen through.

Ironically its sunderland suffering from injury and being poorly defensively that has helped KJ reputation no end this season.  He is without doubt one of the best in the prem with balls lumped upto him and his back to goal.  A couple games he has been unplayable, but in not as many games as he should be.  KJ is still relatively inexperienced as a CF and it shows on occasions and it will be interesting to see him playing with a decent midfield, certainly a fit KR, CE and AR would be a massive difference to sunderalnd.  He will need to change his game a bit and learn to play differently and I am sure he will. At the moment we haven't seen him because he hasn't had a chance to find himself space in and around the penalty area, he tends to be caught on his heels the couple of times he had a chance to do this so far, he looks a little lost when other players are attacking with the ball, he doesnt take a risk and run across the near post, he has a tendancy to get himself in the middle of the box and wait for the ball to be pumped into him.  He also lacks a little composure in one to ones but this agian is down to lack of experience.  A better partner up fron would also help him greatly.  All these things will come if he is willing to learn and has the midfield around him to create the space and chances, then he will be a hell of a player and will deserve to play for a top 4 side.

It will be interesting to see what happens if we are relegated as I said before I seriously doubt he has a clause in his contract, but rather will the club cash in on him is the more likely debate.

I think the fact Sunderland has practically no midfielders left is affecting their style of play. Until they have Richardson, Carlos, Reid, Miller, Dwight all fit at the same time, they'll have to rely on the long ball. Because Whitehead and Etuhu can't create or pass or keep the ball at all.

It has been like that for quite a while, it is  made worse as the defenders can't pass either so they haven't a lot of confidence in their ability to find a man, nerves also play a part.  KJ being the type of player he is also gives them an easy option which is hoof.

From now until the end of the season its all about points, how you come by them is secondary for the time being.

Ah glad for KJ and his team, but dam! that football hard to watch. I almost went and look for the nearest dentist.
When you watch the Seria A or La Liga teams in the same positions on the table, at least the football has a certain standard that can be appreciated.

The week told on KJ, last week he looked for all the world he had the friendly on his mind and had his poorest performance for the club so far.

I have read the board for quite some time and have seen a lot of comments about the quality of the team and for the most part it is justified.

What I don't think people in T & T appreciate is where we have come from in a short time.  Less than 2 years ago the club was stoney broke with no prospects, no players (any player with any sort of ability was sold) and no hope.  When NQ and his backers took over we coudn't get a decent manager or players.

RK took over and only made the squad numbers up with something like 6 final day signings.  How we got promotion is beyond me, although a couple of january signings particularly CE helped greatly.

In the summer we struggled to attract players because of the history and still are, in reality for all purposes we needed a whole team plus, to put it into perspective RK has spent roughly £50 Million since his arrival twice the amount Liverpool spent on Torres.

If we survive we still need to buy a defence, midfield and a forward in order to survive comfortably next season.  Everyone is aware we need better players, passers and a touch of class, it will be easier to get them next season if we survive.  But it will only be the following season that the club can look at just adding  2/3  players that cost a lot of money and can make a difference.

If we do get the players back and add more quality next season KJ needs to improve other aspects of his game, which I am sure he will do, but without him this season we would of been dead and buried by now.

The prem from now to the end of the season wont make great watching the teams at the top get nervous, the teams at the bottom are nervous and not very good and the teams in the middle have nothing to play for.

Thanks for the welcome lads

Don't think it was meant as belittling, its just RK's sense of humour sure he had his only little smirk on when he said it.

You can  catch his prematch interviews here http://www.itvlocal.com/tynetees/sport its the local TV channel and has player interviews etc on.

As for the March friendly, I think the club can refuse and considering where we are on our current injuries I wouldn't expect any of the trio to turn up.

Carlos is a worry though, he hasn't played much this year and not yet adjusted to the prem, if we survive I expect a few more new faces especially defence and midfield and carlos might find his premiership chance passed him by.  Thats if we survive, but the football gods aren't being kind with injuries.  Miller is out that means we have 1 poor proper mf player for tommorrow.  might play a couple of the bairns.
Welcome Kev, keep us updated with Carlos's injury. What do you think of Yorke's midfield role at Sunderland?

Thanks

DY much to my surprise I have to admit has done a good job for us in midfield in the prem.  His football brain is still quick but I don't think his body is as quick.  He needs an extra second or two on the ball now.  That is fine against some of the teams but he gets caught out against pressing teams.  Nothing against him, its just nature his age catching up with him as it does with us all.  We missed him badly last week, and he hasn't been helped by our midfielders this year lack of a bit of skill, passing ability and bite missing CE and KR has been a big loss to a squad thats thin on quality.

If we survive I would expect us to strengthen the mf quite a bit and can't see him that involved next season just because of age really.  If he wants to play regularly I would expect him to move, unless we are relegated.  He is a mate of RK and sunderland have a history of looking after players so he might wind up in some coaching job or some scouting role ala John Barnes.

Hi all,

Still no good news on Carlos

Carlos gets special treatment

By Nick Alexander.

Injured Sunderland winger Carlos Edwards is being put in an oxygen tent to boost his fitness.

Edwards, who is recovering from a broken leg, is in the middle of a five-day course in London.

The special tent helps speed up injury recovery time and has been used by players such as David Beckham and Wayne Rooney.

Edwards is also scheduled to get treatment in Paris as Sunderland look to get their midfielder back in action.

Roy Keane, the manager, explained: "Carlos' recovery is slower than we would have hoped for but remember he has a broken leg. He is some weeks away [from a comeback] at the moment.

"He has been been out [training] but he's still feeling it. He's a fairly tough lad and his straight running is fine, but he's not 100 per cent happy with it.

"Carlos will go in the oxygen tent for five days - mind he does get out! You are only allowed in it for three hours a day."

Edwards has been limited to just five appearances this season.

"We're trying to think outside the box in terms of his recovery," said Keane. We're hoping to send him to see someone in Paris next week, a lad I know. It's been frustrating and we want him to get back up to speed.

"Remember he did break his leg, it's not as if he broke his toe-nail. It's still a fracture and sometimes they take longer to heal."

Also thought this was quite ammusing off SAFC.
Keane demands top show from Jones
By Nick Alexander.

Roy Keane will demand a top performance from Kenwyne Jones against Wigan tomorrow.

Jones is not due back on Wearside until this afternoon after playing for Trinidad and Tobago on Wednesday night.

Keane reluctantly agreed to let his top striker make the 10,000-mile round trip to the Caribbean for the midweek friendly against Guaduloupe.

And the Sunderland boss will not listen to any excuses about fatigue when Jones lines up against the Latics in a vital game at the Stadium of Light..

"Of course you worry that the travel will affect him but Kenwyne knows he's got to perform," said Keane.

"He was selected for his country and you have to be fair to these players ... but they have to be fair to the club as well.

"He's played the full 90 minutes [against Guaduloupe] and then he's getting on a flight. Put it this way, he needs to put in a good shift tomorrow.

"We have to help with the travel arrangements. If we left it to them [the T&T FA], I think he'd be on a ferry. Him and Stern [John] are paddling at the moment. We make sure Kenwyne is upgraded and that he's got a bed to sleep on."

Jones, Sunderland's top scorer, played for 90 minutes in a 0-0 friendly draw in Port of Spain.

Keane added: "It was only a friendly and I know he's got another one in March - in the middle of a busy period for us. He might miss that one!

"They [the players] argue that we shouldn't treat Trinidad any different to the lads going to play for England or Ireland and that's fair enough. When we sign them, we are aware of that. The discussion with Kenwyne was amicable, you can't have it both ways."

Keane added: "I'm hoping the week will have refreshed him, he'll have got a bit of sun on his back. Yorkie used to go back [to the Caribbean] and return like a new man, sometimes it does you good.

"Kenwyne's not back until this afternoon, it's not ideal. We'll consider getting a private jet sorted out for some of these lads, so they come back straight after a game. Maybe lads from different clubs could come back on the same flight."
