Football / Re: Brazillian Ronaldo suffers serious injury...again
« on: February 14, 2008, 11:31:04 AM »
The greatest striker/finisher i have ever seen growing up in the 1990's into the 21st century..Ronaldo Luis Nazário de Lima...aka twinkle toes.. Its ironic the brazilian footballer whom i share the famous name with..Jairzinho....discovered Ronaldo way back when he was 14. Those days when he was at PSV and Barcelona especially had to be the most explosive football from a striker i ever saw....Absolutely amazing...absolutely the best.....i am so so sad this has happened....but as we know..the moment he went to Inter....he was getting fouled left right and center....and that was the beginning of the end....this is my footballing icon!! I hope ronaldo can recover...and at least walk properly...that knee..leg.has gone under so much surgery...As for football..hes been playing since 14 in Brazil...i think his legs had enough......get well soon... :'(..

Without a doubt he is our number one goalie....keep up the great work...at the same time i hope one of our younger goalkeepers can take in all the knowledge and experience Clayton has to offer....top top player..and my choice for our permanent captain going forward

Football / Re: FIFA Ranking February
« on: February 13, 2008, 12:07:18 PM »
Numbers dont lie..and in all fairness we lucky we aint ranked lower following the last two horrific performances against PR....and Guadeloupe....I am such in a state of shock, because it is as clear as day..our team have gone backwards.....lets forget about the forwards...and aging goalie Ince...where is the midfield....and more importantly where is the backline....We have a very very serious problem with our squad...and the worrying factor is that we are in a position where we may suffer some very embarrassing results in the coming games scheduled....PPL have to open their eyes and acknowledge the rapid growth in the football world...with players and teams improving and playing at a higher level..we are off the pace and maybe the simple fact is that we dont have the players such as a Latapy...or Yorke..coming through the ranks...and yes folks....to be a respected footballing nation again we need players of that quality....The game against Jamaica.....ill keep quiet until the game has been played...but Trini is in for a real real test...ill say a prayer from all now...

I think the overwhelming consensus of the forum is that Densil days have past..and thats the point the truff was making. I have no problem with the guy...and at the end of the day he can say he actually played in a world cup for Trinidad...and imagine....played more minutes than Latapy...but so goes the football world. However the reality...and its not only based on the Guadeloupe game, is that he cannot be the best Trinidad has to offer in the midfield...and if it so happens that he is the best we have...well only God can take us to South Africa. A key point/word i may borrow from several posts above is the word of progress..Theobold as a player has not been able to progress beyond his level right now...and now that players around him are improving....the regional players are improving...international players super improving...he is being exposed as being below par...Ill say once again...remove any emotional inclination....a trait that has plagued our local game where coaches pick who they like...and not whos good enough...and any objective analyst with sound reason and a footballing mind will tell you....Densil good guy...but not good enough...very very simple....and the truff will go on record saying...Densil most likely may end up in Trinidad pro league...if he does...i cant see him playing on any team..and if he does..i cant see him making any sort of impact to improve whatever team he makes.....if anything else happens contrary to my prediction ill eat my cap... ;D

Thats why we debate ppl..so that we can come to some truff on the issues... I did indeed see the Gold Cup last yr..and the pun injected into my statements was that Densil doesnt do anything outstanding...and Kiffy i have seen all Trinidad football...actually i played for Eldo in 1996 in the boycott season when the teachers had the work to rule..played for St Francis College NY in 1999 only to have my leg broken in pratice by goalie Mikel Peters from CIC....played against Marlon Minguel out of Trinity...a guy called Adrian Narine (super player) who never wnet to high school but was from my home town Bon Air...played against Scott Sealy...Irasto knights...lyndon chuby Andrews,....Tiger Fitzpatrick...Marco Elock...trained with Stern John Jason Scotland...i can go on and on...But the point here is that im not new to football...the truff will be 30 this november and my life is football....the truff has played football at every level and for the record the best Trinidad team i have seen....excluding the strike squad...was our 1996 Gold Cup squad...you remember that team Kiffy? If you do tell me is it possible for Theobold to even make the practice squad from the power team we had then...my point is this,...remove any emotional inclination you may have in regards to Densil..and all im saying is that his better days have past....he is  not good enough...thats all...with all respect to Latapy and Falkirk....he cant even make a lesser team in the SPFL...so how can he be our midfield general? Lets deal with the facts and maybe we can put this issue to rest...so now Kiffy...give me some stats on Densil from the last concluded Gold Cup if possible...and Trinidad's final standing in the group?......

For any professional and especially one from your country to be playing abroad and not getting paid is really terrible...and I honestly feel bad for densil not getting wages fro over 2 months....is that club in an extremely poor financial state? Speaking the truff i know nothing about his now prior club. The only thing i can comment on is the information im aware of...prior to World Cup 2006 i have never seen Theobold play for Trinidad in a game when we have all our overseas players available..including Latapy and Yoke...However he started every game in Germany and based on game footage that i still have and have watched several times...Densil wasnt impressive at all....he hustles for the ball as should any midfielder...but other than that I saw alot of ball watching...he was continually looking around to make sure he was positioned right and often he wasnt ...... his passing was not consistent at all...hes not physically overwhelming....and doesnt possess blistering pace......to be quite honest im still trying to figure out the tactical advantage of having him there in all 3 games. Its obvious he has alot of fans in this forum and Trinidad....and personally I like him...for his hard working attitude...but looking at his previous stint at Falkirk where he couldnt even make the bench and then left.....it way be wise to assume his best days were in SSFL....its not uncommon for a player to be excellent and peak in their early teens and 20's only to fall off by the time they hit 25....After Falkirk he came back to trinidad and was with a pro team...left again for Hungary...and now seems to be interested in Turkey...PPL have opinions....facts tend to point to what the truff really is....I think ppl should look at the facts surrounding Densil and remove any emotional inclination...and the facts is...Densil is not good enough for the highest level....im not even sure if he is good enough for our pro league...I think his better days have passed him allready...If anyone would like to debate me on this issue im up for the challenge...i wanna know what has Densil done prior to 2006...HONESTLY... I dont know?

the truff will say this..in order for consistent progress to be realized...whether it be in life or football...the elders must past on their knowledge and experience to the young ones..the fact is...when we have latapy and yorke patrolling the midfield...our team looks 7 fold better...we have some sort of stability and order....and one of the reasons for this is that the opposing team is fully aware of the ability possessed by yorke and latas...and immediately will give them an inch of space/respect...that inch for anyone of us that have played organized football makes a huge difference....now...without our greatest soccer exports on the team....the team allready looses the respect element...teams will come after us intensely..and opponents look at us as being beatable right off the jump...as i stated in my prior post...we have yet to produce a midfielder of a high quality..maybe except for Carlos Edwards.....but Carlos is a winger..and his strength is not entirely geared towards holding the ball in the middle or dictating the pace and rhythm of play on the pitch...for this position we need a highly technical player with a great football brain and some fear factor...the sad fact is that the two players who fit this description are in their mid to late 30's...and for whatever reason.....(ttff)...the players with the real talent never seem to get selected on the national squad.....(corneal factor).......so the knowledge and experience possessed by yorke and latas cannot be passed onto anyone who has the ability to walk the talk...we need to develop the youth...from aprox 9 yrs...to play football..not circus ball.....be excellent in the fundamentals.....trapping...passing...shooting...positioning...teamwork....and put JW...AC...and crew in the dumpster......if this isnt possible...our footballing future doesnt look to cute...the results show that we are in a continual mode of regression...

No problem brown sugar..i am new here and will be obedient to the requests of the senior members. If i may ad to the discussion about midfielders for our team, the point i may attempt to raise focuses on the mental ability of all our players. I have read all the posts above, with several posts being very informative...calling for the resurrection of whitley...birchall...etc..I personally think the problem is beyond this....after the likes of Angus Eve, Clint Marcelle, in form Arnold Dwarika, David Nahkid, Evans Wise, Russel Latapy, we have yet to produce players of such quality. The current players dont seem to understand the responsibility of a midfielder...and the basic ability to maintain shape...positioning...and discipline on the pitch..Their decision making appears very amateur to put it politely...and technical ability leaves alot to be desired..All of these issues are basic problems which start from the foundation..we cant have players in there 20's attempting to teach them these basic things...Its sad...but the truff is....the entire infrastructure of football in Trinidad and Tobago is outdated and primitive..We have a very very long way to go...for example....a world cup team..us... gets a friendly against Guadeloupe...Guatemala whom we edged out in 2005 pays Argentina...
