Gareth Bale: Real Madrid forward injured in Champions League defeat
Gareth Bale scored twice in last season's Champions League final against Liverpool
Gareth Bale could be set for another period on the sidelines after suffering an ankle injury as Real Madrid lost at the Champions League last-16 stage to Ajax.
Jeered by home fans in the weekend defeat by Barcelona, the Wales forward came on as a 29th-minute substitute following an injury to Lucas Vazquez.
Bale almost had an instant impact as his shot struck the post, but ended the 4-1 defeat hobbling around the pitch.
The extent of the injury is not known.
Wales have a friendly against Trinidad & Tobago on 20 March, four days before beginning their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign at home to Slovakia in Cardiff.
The former Tottenham player joined the action - with his side already two goals down on the night - to a less hostile reception than he received from Real fans on Saturday, which his agent described as "nothing short of a disgrace".
He was unable to inspire his side to a comeback on Tuesday, however, with Santiago Solari's side's sole focus now on La Liga - in which they sit 12 points adrift of leaders Barcelona.
His future at the Bernabeu appears increasingly uncertain.
Bale was out for three weeks in January with a calf injury.
Well, I don't know what the Trini kids do in England. It appears that they are not into football as other WI kids. So TT has to step up and produce their own as we have always done all along. If a foreign born willing to deal with all the TTFA has to offer, he or she will be considered a hero or heroine by me. Allyuh know how TTFA stop.In my experience in the UK, the Trini parents push their children more towards education. Even my mother in law who came here in the 60s mentioned that she Trinis were scarce compared to the Jamaicans, Bajans and Grenadians. She also said that a large amount came to study and went back, oil boom days nah. Met an Antiguan guy some years ago on my job who was an electrician and we got to chatting. He said he had been in the UK since the 80s and he always admired the Trinis who pushed their kids towards education as compared to other islanders.
I think our recruitment policy is: dem outside eh better than we.Same damn thing I'm saying. The opposite is true when considering an almost non existent non competitive league, poor development and our competitors have acknowledged this deficiency and recruited abroad. Lawrence seems to have bought into this crap and expects to reap dividends. I cyah see no fruit bearing from this smdh
Haha. They finish “comfortably” mid table yesLeague table was absolutely tight. Only 8 points seperated 10th placed Darmstadt and relegated Kaiserslautern.
