I wonder if the clubs in Trinidad still prefer to be in pre season for Concacaf vs pre season for CFU.  ::)

I wonder if they prefer to lorse to Waterhouse and Alpha in preseason or actually make it to Concacaf.

You should own a Pro League club bro. Same mindset

I'm fairly certain the pro league if run from March-early December will be in season when CFU qualifiers are going on and during the group stage of the Concacaf CL

CFU is supposed to be February-March

Does Jamaica and Haiti even have a pro league? When do they start and end their season?

If all of the possible CFU teams request the qualifiers be lets say May if all are in season then wouldnt the CFU change the qualification dates to suit all?

Allyuh acting like its a fixed date and people cant work together for the right thing to be done.

who is this Coache joker? I hope to god this man not active in the coaching fraternity in T&T. Last thing we need is one more total shithong coaching young players in this country. 80% of them here are already doing that garbage.

Brilliant. Would be great to see the likes of Cummings, Guerra and at least one of Jan or Marvin get out of here into the MLS as well.

All this talk. Me ent see no big difference in performance of local nationals or local club teams from the previous period to now. We stay getting licks outside the Caribbean. So it make no difference imho.

To be honest we are far off Concacaf's best teams. Being fitter and in season will not really help it that much as you say but my other points are valid especially the one about local players being in season during the International calender. It will assist Coach Hart massively.

If we want to compete in Concacaf it is simple. Our youth programs must be spot on with clubs and schools. The coaches have to be better. The sessions have to be those with intensity with the aim of improving tactical and technical qualities at pace. The facilities have to improve, the equipment etc. Better funding and more sponsors. THAT is the only blueprint to success.

Connection had a very long, arduous journey including a 10 hour bus ride. Also they lost several key players through injury and were forced to play players like Frederick out of position.

The main issue however is that this is their first competitive game of the season while Santos are in mid season. The Pro League are looking at how to change the Pro League season so that our teams are also in season for the Champions League. Problem is that it would mean playing the CFU in pre season. The risk is that our clubs may not even reach the Champions League in that scenario. Its not really fair that we have to play a qualifying tournament while other nations gain straight entry to the Champions League. However we time our league, we are still disadvantaged.

10 hours?  Was that really unavoidable?

Apparently there were no flights. They also had to travel for 24 hours to reach Mexico City as there are no direct flights from PoS. I can confirm that Central have also had major problems with travel including overnight stops. LA Galaxy, on the other hand, will be chartering a plane to fly direct to PoS!

I take it CONCACAF are the ones organizing flights for teams etc? How is it LA Galaxy have easier travel arrangements ? Should it not be similar flights?

So FS why is playing CFU in preseason a problem?

Agreed, I would rather face CFU in preseason than Concacaf teams in pre season. No brainer.

If the league runs from March-December wouldn't the CFU qualifiers be between that time frame anyway?

The experiment in following the European leagues was also to take advantage of transfer windows. The Pro League have been debating the change back for several months now. My only issue is that clubs would need to enter CFU in their pre season. It doesn't matter how good we are in August for Champions League if we don't get past the CFU!

When is the CFU?

Sorry if you rather be underprepared for CFU vs Concacaf.. I'm certain you would prefer to face Galaxy while in season than during pre season.

MLS transfer windows are a open during the European windows too....it's not like Pro league clubs doing that great transfer wise anyway(with the new format)

The move to March-December is best for the national team as it allows local players to be in top condition when the foreign based join them resulting in better chances to showcase themselves.

If the pro league was guaranteed to start in August and end late May then fine but the fact is they always start delayed and rumors are floating about it may start late October early November this season... The national team has 6 games between September and November.

When they have a handful of local players I don't want to hear any excuses from any local clubs ...the fact is the league is a joke and until they align with Concacaf and stick to a consistent start and end date it will continue to be a joke and the National team will have a small amount of local potential.

70
It is seriously time for this switch. Many National Coaches including Hart and Pro League coaches have called for the switch.

F.S if you can contribute here. Is it the club owners who decide these things or is it the Pro League board and Skeene? because I have heard its the clubs.

Benefits of running it from end of March to early December:

1) Post Carnival start = All facilities available, no delays during Carnival season causing fixture congestion.

2) Top 2 teams benefit if they are in Concacaf CL as the group games are August-October. The players will be in season and be fit and have good match rhythm.

3) International Windows are between March and November. Better for National Team selection as local players will be fit and can showcase their talents on the International Stage resulting in a possible transfer aka TRANSFER FEE to the local club which is a business at the end of the day.

4) Possible pre season camps in USA Mexico South America. Showcasing local talent etc.

It is seriously time for this change. I can't believe all the clubs don't see the positives of this.

71
As pointed out, only the Bolivia game is not confirmed..

And unless, the match vs Haiti which is strictly in the hands of CONCACAF end up being on the 9th as someone suggested, then off corse the Panama game will have to be moved.

Again, the article stated that "With supposed matches rumored to happen next month with games against; "

Controversial makes a meal of everything.

Thanks.

I find the TTFA should request the playoff game to be at home.
We finished higher than Haiti in the Gold Cup (we were undefeated in all 4 games) while they lost their QF within 90 minutes.

We should therefore have the home advantage in a playoff game just like Panama should host Cuba.

It will be a good game to host for gate receipts , merchandise sales etc.

72
Interesting list of friendlies. I wonder If we will have at least one at home? Would be nice to see the boys in action in the HCS.

When is Central FC heading up to LA?

74
Good statement.

Very detailed and transparent.

75
FS, if PNM win the elections, will the Employees of Sportt immediately vacate office on the 8th ? Or is their some sort of transition?

76
World Cup qualifying fixtures announced. Hope to see the HCS booked for the National Team and the pitch and facilities up to scratch for Coach Hart and his men  :beermug:

Home Fixtures:

NOVEMBER 17TH 2015 : TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO VS USA

MARCH 29TH 2016 : TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO VS SVG/ARUBA

SEPTEMBER 2ND 2016: TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO VS GUA/ANTIGUA

77
I can tell you that CONCACAF have approved the stadium for Champions League! There was some approval given for major upgrades to HCS, though I'm not sure when they will begin, as it would likely mean the stadium would be out of action for many months.

World Cup qualifiers are November, March and September. Logically after the March fixtures those major upgrades should be done.

In the mean time minor upgrades such as electrical issues and facility issues such as bathrooms etc should be dealt with.

Lastly the pitch should be maintained and no school football on it this season. It should be in great condition come November and Hart's requests of pre match watering should be facilitated.

Very simple requests if you ask me.

78
Kevin, maybe you can shed some light on this.

Is the Ministry of Sport planning on giving the HCS a much needed facelift for the upcoming qualifiers in November? or maybe even friendlies in September and October?

What is the state of the pitch? Why haven't we replaced the pitch with a top class grass surface and maintain it? That current pitch is the same field from 2000 when the HCS was upgraded for the 2001 u17 World Cup. That is 15 Carnivals with Machel etc destroying the surface.

Stephen Hart complained time and time again that the surface isnt watered before kick off making it a dry pitch to play on. Why don't we have a groundstaff comparable to higher level Concacaf to deal with these requests? Why should we be at a disadvantage at home?

Are they going to allow SSFL to destroy the surface between September and November? The national team should take priority and School Football should be on School grounds.

Is the dressing rooms of standard?

Lastly, in March when T&T played Panama the game was switched to Ato Boldon Stadium because the HCS was booked for some minor track event.

Is it not common sense to put a block on International Dates at the HCS? The FIFA dates are available for years in advance.
From FIFA:
2015
31 August - 08 September- Official or Friendly Matches
05-13 October   -             Official or Friendly Matches
09-17 November   -             Official or Friendly Matches

It is time to make our National Stadium a fortress for qualifiers and also comfortable for the supporters. Run down Bathrooms and poor lighting throughout the stadium must be sorted out. Young kids should not be subject to that at a Sporting Event.

We pay taxes for these reasons to see our money go to upgrading of facilities in Sport, Education, Health etc.

79
RTK is just a figurehead anyway... I'm glad Sheldon stuck around as he is the guy that is in charge of planning etc.... I really hope F.S and Sancho will work with Sheldon to get the games required for September and October.

No way that feed they broadcast today was an official concacaf feed.  They start off with a Spanish feed then an ESPN UK feed. Now the Mexico game feed is a super sport feed.

Nobody said all out attack, just not all out defence. Look at teh last five minutes vs Mex and you will understand.

I see it vb.  But come on man.

Game in de dregs.  Men dead on dey feet.  They in front and looking to defend the lead.  ALL dey studyin is to boom kick out de box at that time.  Psychologically, they in defence mode.  Conversely....the opposition needs a result.  They in all out attack mode.  They too are tired and vulnerable to counter....but we not in that mental or physical state to take advantage.

It IS a fitness issue....both mental and physical.

But that not going to get fixed during a tournament.

Completely understandable IMO
it takes more energy to defend than to attack and in the end we still had to revert to attacking mode when we dropped two goals, so i say keep attacking but do it conservatively.

That all sounds good in theory.  Reality is a different kettle of fish

Just like when a coach instruct a team to play higher up the field yet they do what they accustomed to doing...doh mind coach screaming at them to move up

Lemme see you play a 90 and attack with a 3-2 lead with 5 minutes to go.  And yuh get ketch up field attackin and de opposition counterin in de acres of space vacated because of that attack.  Yuh defenders bawlin fuh yuh to track back...but yuh jes cyah make.

Tell them yuh stayin up because it take more energy to defend than attack. :D

Good to see some common sense finally.  Press for 90 minutes  ::)haha some of Allyuh men really different for real.

If the government serious and they want to see the pro league take it to another level they have to grant each team a community ground and install stands for 5000 , a quality pitch, dressing rooms , equipment room, administrative offices and bathrooms for spectators...also a training pitch very close to the main ground. Add one more franchise to make it 10 teams and have Friday night football. Each club lacks identity. I guarantee you each home game will sell out. Charge 20$ a game for the first season and each team can start to make money via gate receipts, eventually merchandise and the more the league grows then a possible tv deal will be another income generator.

Crowds and atmosphere raise the intensity levels 100% and creates a better brand for the pro league. Sponsors can see ROI with 5000 people week in week out.

That would be a fantastic gift from the government to Football development in Trinidad and Tobago. It is a worthy investment.
