Woah that is a shock! Police were looking a bit shakey this season (and last season in the game I went to!)

Well the sheer lack of reliance on pace or agility will mean that he'll still be good in 2018 hah. Seriously though with 5 more years on his head he might be quite formidable, especially in the air, as long as he's getting some proper training.

The man has to back his players - he could possibly be vocalising concerns he's seeing or hearing from his own players. Suffice to say they are good players, but probably too late for the national team :(

With what? The problem is that Jack Warner's corruption rotted the internal institutions that made all the normal day-to-day functionings go smoothly (ish). His theft has left the FA bankrupt, and worse is taht the interest just keeps accumulating while they're expected to fulfil Trinidad and Tobago's international obligations, never mind the domestic ones.

Really it can only be solved with a massive government cash injection to clear the current debts and start rebuilding its reputation - that's not to say that should happen. They need to dismantle it and erect the right guidelines and institutions to prevent any one individuals from sinking the ship. The executive should be absolutely separated from the finances - no free cheques. Financial spending should be procedural with tight-accounts - any office admin with a decade of experience could fulfil this role especially with supervisory oversight. There should be consistent money flows on both sides - government funding should be consistent and committed, sponsors should be found to supplement and eventually overtake the input. Clubs and players should also pay small dues to the FA in order to have a secure section of the budget to cover the essentials. Coaches shouldn't be paid more than can be afforded - Hart is good but I imagine he costs more than local alternatives would. Given the money situation we shouldn't have foreign managing directors or directors of football - there's a complete lack of realism in their employment.

Without financial security there's no future for the FA - youth teams not being able to attend sports events is the tip of the ice berg - everyone remember the national team in Africa (can't remember which one for the life of me) that basically went on strike because their FA wasn't paying them what they'd promised? To be honest the Centre of Excellence should be legally seized from Jack Warner pending corruption charges - it's incredulous that the infrastructure is not owned by the FA itself. Once the debts are cleared the FA need to have the investments to secure its own future - possibly negotiating the ownership of a key footballing stadium for personal use (rather than renting off the government) in cup finals and key matches in order to have some supplementary income.

Part of the problem is a lack of coordination between hte players as well - there should be a fully incorporated and self-sustaining (through player dues) Trinibagonian Players (and maybe staff) Association in order to fight the players' rights. Being able to maintain a single lawyer would be a massive improvement to the welfare of the players, with a legal threat against clubs and the national team when payments aren't due - often players are left the last people to receive payment in the event of bankruptcy abroad.

Thoughts?

Isn't the decision to allow free-agent transfers down to the individual FA's? Or is there paperwork in terms of registration that isn't sorted out due to the bankruptcy?

Interesting about the financial criteria - is that why Joe Public don't move up? The Super League is definitely better than the majority of Caribbean leagues and it's a shame you can't get in a proper promotion-relegation btw them and the Pro League, especially given how exciting the 'big six' seems for Super League promotion

Sadly I think that when Hart picks between these two and youngsters about to break on the scene that he'd pick the latter - thinking of 2018 Qualifications (which will make or break his job)

Managers aren't as naive to look at just goals these days you hope - Kenwyne Jones suits perfectly teams playing a lone forward with attacking wingers, or wanting a big man-little man formation. Heskey was at the top teams for years and lord knows he was awful at scoring goals lol

Looks like a good time to be coming through since Kenwyn Jones is 29 and has a couple years left in him. What more you want from a striker depends on your formation and squad depth :p

To be honest T&T has one of the smallest top leagues in the Caribbean - even St Kitts and Nevis can get 10 teams in their top flight. I've never understood the small league size in T&T, at least until I realised how many cups you guys have! :p

Football / Re: What about a: CARIBBEAN PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE?

It's not feasible - they can't even get clubs that can afford the Caribbean Champions League let alone a whole league system.

If we assume (for the sake of argument) that a plane ticket to most islands from one island is around $300 US and that a team needs to send 23 people (underestimation - 11 players, 5 subs, and 7 technical staff (manager, ass manager, a coach, a physio, the chairman and two others). Right there is $6900 US, but there might also be visa costs, extra baggage, insurance, and taxis/travel to include. Also there's the cost of the hotel for all of them.

Lets say clubs charge $5 per ticket (probably an over-estimation), so you'd need to get 2760 people into the game to cover just the travel costs (as I'm assuming revenue is split 50-50 as per the European norm in cup games). These costs need to happen for half the games - so how many clubs will be in it? 10 clubs means $34,500 USD travel in a year absolute bear minimum, again i think this is really low as players are often paid on a match-by-match basis (money for playing) rather than full-time contracts. Moreover, where does the money for administering this competition come from? Prize money?

There really needs to be a focus on domestic football in these countries -  the infrastructure isn't even there for domestic football so how are they going to organise this? How can the organisation gain the trust of advertisers with Jack Warner's legacy of embezzlement and fraud? How can clubs that don't pull 500 people for CONCACAF Champions League matches or Caribbean Champions League pull 2760 to matches? What's the attendance at T&T national team matches, because the stadiums usually don't look sold out? This is a glittery fantasy that hasn't been thought out - it's agreeable because it looks like a win-win for everyone, but on paper smaller nations will go bankrupt very quickly and what'll be left are the big island nations - T&T, Jamaica, Haiti, and possibly some of the French Antilles (I imagine Cuba won't be interested).

Arsenal are riding high with Ozil - totally changed the mentality as for 10 years they were semi-ambitious youngsters. Showing ambition has really done wonders and they'll make the Semis I'm sure. Manchester who knows - with bad league form cups can buck the trend. Chelsea are consistent, especially with José at the helm, and Man City are another dice roll.

The power of community football - I went to a double header in the Mannie Ramjohn (stupidly at like 6pm on a workday) and there were literally more people directly involved with the game than in the stands.

2659
oh no definitely don't discard him! I thought Bostock played along the middle rather than wing? And doesn't Hyland play attacking mid and central?

Across the rest ya got Guerra, Peltier, Molino, Joevin Jones, Kevon Carter and Villaroel, so there's lots of competition at least.

What a legend, get him in the T&T team he can't be slower than Abu Bakr :p

2661
Hyland, Daniel, Theobold, Birchall and Boucaud I'd rate higher than Bostock (ironically I'm speaking mostly from ignorance on those players but seen Bostock play a couple times)

2662
Yea, completely confusing the lot of it. To be honest I'm not expecting the world of Bostock - Trinidad and Tobago have some great midfielders who can compete him out.

The same way the corrupt always do - distort the truth, erect a facade of helping the community through well placed bundles of cash, focus on those ignored by the mainstream political parties, carefully manage information flow into key areas, and NEVER admit your wrongdoings.

If I could bend your ears guys, could you tell me who you think are the legends of hte T&T national side. In the game you can set famous players for pundits and the media to compare up-and-coming players in T&T to, filling in a general description, their height (tall, medium, short), position, and a legends rating out of 20 (20 would be Bobby More (Captain of World Cup Winning 1966 squad) for England for example). Obviously I don't know as much as you guys so looking for you to set me right if I'm wrong if you don't mind lending me a little time. So far I got (in rating order);

Dwight Yorke (Clinical striker, medium, central) - 20
Steve David (Explosive Forward, Medium, Central) - 19
Russell Latapy (Cultured attacking midfielder, small, central) - 19
Everald Cummings (Cultured Attacking Midfielder, medium, not set (don't know his position)) - 19
Arnold Dwarika (midfield playmaker, medium, central) - 18
Dennis Lawrence (Solid Centreback, Tall, Central) - 17
Shaka Hislop (Commanding Goalkeeper, tall, N/A) - 15
Angus Eve (Tireless Midfielder, small, central) - 15
Clayton Ince (Commanding Goalkeeper, Tall, N/A) - 15

Possible descriptions for;
Goalkeepers - "Commanding", "Erratic"
Fullbacks - "Decisive", "Commanding", "Strong", "Solid", "Cultured", "Explosive"
Centrebacks/Defenders - "Decisive", "Commanding", "Strong", "Solid", "Cultured," "Explosive"
Midfielder/Defensive Midfielder - "Tenacious", "Industrious", "Tireless", "Cultured", "Midfield Playmaker", "Midfield General"
Attacking Midfielder - "Cultured", "Flamboyant", "Explosive"
Winger - "Cultured", "Flamboyant", "Explosive", "Cultured"
Forward/Striker - "Playmaker", "Cultured", "Flamboyant", "Explosive", "Powerful", "Clinical",

"Cultured" typically means they've played in many nations or intelligent, Explosive means theyre quick, Flamboyant are good on teh ball and flair players, Tenacious are hard tackling, Industrious work hardo n the pitch, Tireless typically play into (footballing) old age and high stamina, others I think are self explanatory?

But yea there are NO legends given in teh basic database, so would love to get this properly represented.

Some examples from England;

Bobby Charlton - Playmaker Forward - 20
Bobby More - Cultured Centreback (not sure why) - 20
David Beckham - Tireless Midfielder - 19
Gary Lineker - Clinical Striker - 18
Geoff Hurst - Powerful Striker - 20
Paul Gasgoigne - Midfielder Playmaker - 17
John Barnes - Cultured Winger - 12
Gary Neville - Solid Fullback - 14
Paul Ince - Industrious Midfielder - 10
Ian Wright  - Clinical Striker - 8
Sol Campbell - Strong Centreback - 8

So yea any thoughts? Definitely know to add Stern John (Powerful?, medium, centre, 12?) and Leonson Lewis (not sure, medium, centre, 14?). Some possibilities?;

Marvin Andrews (Solid Centreback?, centre, 15?),
Leroy DeLeon (Flamboyant Midfielder, centre, small, 10)
Brent Sancho (cultured centreback, medium, 8),
Densil Theobald (Tireless midfielder, medium, centre, 10)
Lincon Phillips (Commanding Goalkeeper, medium, 18)
Avery John (Strong Centreback?, medium, centre, 15)

Wanna get every position covered - haven't got any wingers or fullbacks right now... Thanks for reading!

2667
I thought there was some issue with Bostock and him playing for Trinidad? Something that might prevent him being capped?
