Corneal to continue as TTFA Technical Director
TTFA Media

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) can today confirm that Anton Corneal will continue in the position of TTFA Technical Director.

This comes after Corneal’s decision to decline an offer to assume the position of FIFA Regional Technical Consultant.

According to Corneal, "I decided to decline the opportunity to work as one of FIFA's Regional Technical Consultants in our region, as the position seems more administrative in nature which, I thought, does not align with my skill set.”

"I prefer to be more hands-on with the development of the game in our country and region. In that regard and after discussions with the Normalisation Committee (NC), I am indeed pleased to be able to continue in the position of Technical Director of the TTFA.”

On August 26, 2022, the Association announced that Corneal would be taking up the role of FIFA Regional Technical Consultant for the Caribbean region from September 1, 2022. At that time, applications for the TTFA Technical Director position were invited and a shortlist was compiled.

During that period, the TTFA’s debt repayment Proposal under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act was approved by the Courts of Trinidad and Tobago, which allows the Association to continue operating and moving forward.

Having already established a solid foundation in the Technical Department, throughout 2022, Corneal and the NC were keen for him to step back into the role and continue his work.

Corneal stated, "Especially now where the NC is in the process of clearing the FA's debt and is reviewing the governance structure of the FA, it is an extremely important period for us.”

“The next major steps would be to invest more time in the implementation of the TTFA's long-term development plan. It is something that I am extremely passionate about and I’m excited for what the future may hold."

Corneal returns to duty immediately and will oversee the running of the TTFA High Performance Programs, the staging of the FIFA Girl’s Play Program this weekend, which is aimed at introducing girls aged 6-12 to the game, and the hosting of TTFA B and C Licence Coaching Courses beginning on November 7, 2022.
Just when you tought things were going to get better!!

S Hart failed at the international level with both Canada and TT and now he has failed at the professional level nobody in there right mind who is serious about going to a WC is going to hire a coach who cannot cut it at that level but then again TT hired A Eve.

Players like Sean De Silva, Nathaniel Garcia and Matthew Woo Ling was pushed aside for that strong man football them coach's was playing.

Cast aside?

1. De Silva was not on the national senior team when Hart took over. Even so, 5 out of De Silva's 9 caps were under Hart.

2. Nathaniel Garcia made his debut under Hart.

3. Woo Ling was nowhere near the national side when Hart was hired. As a matter of fact he was still playing for St. Anthony's in the SSFL.

De Silva got his 1st cap under F Maturana S Hart begrudgingly capped De Silva he was never a part of his plans .

2. When S Hart had the U20 team in Jamaica he only used M W Ling for 1 game because of a suspension and 1 game as a substitute once again he turned 1 of the most talented youth teams to play for TT into a strong man team that only got 4 points out 15 when they should have gotten much more.

3. Probably 98% of the football coach's from TT was thought to play that outdated English football it does not matter if it is Hart Shabazz Corneal L Philips they are all a waste of time once TT  got rid of F Maturana and Z Vranes it was all downhill from there TT just went back to playing that outdated English football were they got rid of there technically best players and go for power and strength which meant that players like S De Silva N Garcia and M W Ling would not be part of the squad.

What's the point of yet another expensive foreign coach? Sod them all and invest in local talent. Take the US$100K and maybe pay down the debt, or support youth teams, or pay the decade overdue prize money, or give it to clubs to fund the youth team.
Youve been sold a pipe dream local coach's don't have the tactical knowledge to coach at the international level nor  do they know anything about youth development.

Says who? I'd rather pay the money to train them then. Foreign coaches come and go and barely leave a mark. Did we get our money for Saintfiet? The welsh guy? If we train our own, locally, they will either stay and enhance our game, or leave for a foreign team and that can have more tertiary benefits than the fly-by-night crews. I'm increasingly convinced the patronising and arrogant approach that a lot of coaches treat the island with is nothing but detrimental.
A local coach will save you money but there inability to get results would cost more in the long run  a foreign coach will cost more money but get the results to make TT team competitive on the international stage putting your money on a local coach that is going no were is a waste of time and money.

If I was Saintfiet I would walk off the job to TT football is run by a bunch of clowns D J  Williams was a successful businessman but he was not a professional.

I feel like you are looking at the problem backwards - if our coaches are bad how can our youth develop? There's no foreign coaches working with the U13 in Laventille, no U14 coaches in Arima. These are the people we should be investing in - they give us the pipeline.

Also, the insane wages these guys get would be significantly better served supporting a domestic league where our talent can get the practice necessary to improve.
Those who refuse to keep up with the times would be left back in time!!

Ferguson was 1 of J Warner students they need to keep as far from him as possible and besides that Caribbean cup football has no benefit  to TT football anyway.

How is Caribbean Cup football not beneficial to TT football ? We can’t even beat clubs and nations now we go beat C. American and MexiCanUsa clubs and countries. We have to recalibrate. If not we will remain in the doldrums.
When you say recalibrate I imagine you mean forward thinking well the Caribbean football cup is nothing new that's been going on before I was born Recyling old colonial ideas is not going to bring TT football back those days are gone TT needs to think outside the box if Ferguson wants to bring TT football back the 1st thing he needs to do is to bring a professional coach to TT to build his club into a regional power house.

What is colonial about the CFU ? The problem with CFU is that it lacks money, thus power. I agree that Ferguson needs to upgrade his coaching staff by a lot.  But club football is in limbo with shenanigans of  the NC. What is wrong in having a Caribbean invitational club football tournament lasting a week until the TTFA Totee league starts later in the year.
TT football was screwed up before NC and would be screwed after NC that's not there fault the most important thing right now is to restart local club football the Caribbean club football is just a tournament for Ferguson to promote his business in the English Caribbean why can't he invite teams from Hati, DR, Martinque Guadlupe Suriname etc teams that will cut they tail not going back to that old time English Caribbean colonial BS that's a waste of time and money.

I agree with a lot of what KJ said the women game has  also gone professional most of the Jamaican team play professional football T&T only had 2 professional players on there team the days of bringing collage players from the U S A to play in international tournaments is over .

Today T&T try to play the ball out of the back but you can see these players is use to boom kick football the game was pretty even had they had a player like David Nakhid's niece pulling the strings they would have had a better chance of winning the game instead of playing backs and forwards.

Looking at the game the 4 nil score line was flattering for Costa Rica 3  of the goals was off deflections the referee was poor and to be down by 10 players they held on pretty well Panama is beatable but without  a #10 I don't see how they will do it unless they planning on set plays or some type of scramble football to over power Panama in the box.

By the way, what happened to Alexcia Ali who played for the U20 in 2020? Small but she showed some great skills as a midfielder, a position I think the Trini team may need help with.
The coach's in T&T build there football on power and strength so the technically best players like Alexcia Ali and others are pushed to the side for power strength and athleticism.

What you guys failed to realize is Hati is a football country soccer is the#1 sport in Hati T&T is not a football country they pretend they are a football country but they not .

Hati built there football system after the Brazilian system a style similar to there's they will always play better football than we do in T&T a country with a Latin culture build there football of the English system they will always be a bunch of losers.

MEX and CR thought it would not effect them but they were wrong there is no way JA and DR should be playing each other to go to a WC Guatemala and DR will get a good cut tail when they play in the WC.

T&T and Jamaica play the same outdated English football but the difference is JA has discipline they can score 1 or 2 goals and frustrate the other team that's why JA can beat Hati while T&T can score 4 goals and still concede 4 T&T teams only have discipline and organization when they have a foreign coach with a Trinidadian coach its a just waist of time.

ffisback, let's be honest, defensively, the team play was poor. So Eve strategy did not work at all. Apart from Roka, I did not see any real standout defenders. I may be wrong but point one out to me. I think Real and Khan and the striker who scored 4 goals can be the type of players Hart was asking about. They can take on opponents. But they need something more. Physical fitness and strength.  TTFA has to offer more.
While those players you mentioned were good players the coach failed to build a team to benefit those players ability A Eve proved he is not good enough to coach at this level he is just as bad as S Heart and D Lawrence or even worse.

A Eve is doing the same thing D Lawrence did his team is set up to defensively and if he started with 7 defenders he is worse than D Lawrence and if he think 1 man could take on 3 to 4 men by his self and score on the international level he need to get his head checked.

Mexico is the only team that is guarantied a spot the other 2.5 spots is up for grabs.
Canada Honduras U S A will battle it out for the other spots with Costa Rica and Panama with a outside chance of taking a spot.
El Salvador coach has added some American steal to El Salvador but he has taken away there attacking flair they are going to struggle to score goals.
Once Jamaica and TT continue to hire a bunch of local coach's they will never qualify for a WC

i am use to watching Jamaica and Bahamas winning more medals than us but when Grenada doing it to you know things really bad and why is it when you have 5 good 400m runners you only using 4 you putting to much strain on your 4 top runners.

Judah Garcia joins brother Levi at AEK Athens in Greece.
By Jonathan Ramnanansingh (T&T Newsday).

National midfielder Judah Garcia has signed a three-year contract with Greek top-flight club AEK Athens.

Garcia will join AEK Athens' B team and will begin training with the squad from next Thursday. His older brother Levi, also plies his trade at the club and has since become a regular starter.

After signing his contract on Tuesday, Garcia, who previously represented Neroca FC in India, was elated.

In an interview with AEK Athens media, he said, “It is really exciting for me to play in the same team as Levi. We have already done it in our national team and I hope we will do it in AEK soon.

“It is a great honour for me and my family to join such a big club with the history of AEK. I do not hide the fact that I am happy for this development and I believe that there is a huge prospect for my football career.”

The 20 year old previously played for Point Fortin Civic FC’s junior team before making the jump to its senior squad in 2017.

In November 2020, he was signed to Imphal-based Neroca FC for the 2020/2021 season. He has represented T&T at the under-20 and under-23 levels.

Garcia made his senior international debut against Panama in 2019 under former national coach Dennis Lawrence. He most recently featured in T&T's unsuccessful 2022 World Cup qualifiers and scored his maiden goal in T&T’s Gold Cup campaign under coach Angus Eve before getting injured.
This is great news i remember when R Latapy went to Portugal he was not good enough to play for fc Porto so they sent him to the second division to develop and in 2 to 3 years they came back knocking on his door so hopefully J Garcia gets the playing time he needs in the 2nd division  and in 2 to 3 years he can move on to the 1st team.

Ascension sponsors ‘Eastern’ football
By Ian Prescott (T&T Express)

IAN PRITCHARD is the new president of the Eastern Counties Football Union, the region governing football in Valencia, Sangre Grande, Toco, Manzanilla, Mayaro and such.

New president Pritchard said among his goals were youth development and the resurgence of ECFU football; forging partnerships and eventually having ECFU football become self-sufficient.

Speaking with moderator Kieron Edwards on the latest edition of the Ascension Football Show, new ECFU president Pritchard announced a partnership with Richard Ferguson’s Ascension Football. Ferguson is a former Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) presidential candidate and boss of professional club La Horquetta Rangers.

Pritchard says Ferguson’s organisation has seen the vision of the Eastern Counties, bought into the plans for Eastern Counties football, and has decided to support the resurgence of the game in the region by partnering with the Eastern Counties in the first few years of their competition.

This Ferguson is buying votes for next election a next  A NEXT DICTATOR I BET YUH
If memory serves me right he sounds like 1 of Jack Warner boys who got banned by FIFA in the 90's he was 1 of the smart 1's thou the money he stole he invested it unless it's someone else with the same name.

Canada can probably take the 3rd spot for the WCQ they are predictable but organized with some good individual talent but just like the English team they are boring to watch.
Interesting perspective. Which teams do you consider as not boring to watch?
I like watching teams from Latin America play teams with a midfield technician.
