TTSL 1 – TEAM OF THE WEEK – ROUND 7
http://ttsuperleague.com/ttsl-1-team-week-round-7/

In the Trinidad and Tobago Super League (TTSL) – League One Round Seven, FC Santa Rosa suffered their first defeat of the season to a resilient Defence Force TTSL outfit. While league leaders Guaya United were denied a seventh consecutive win after being held to a goal less draw with QPCC.

QPCC  had goal keeper Raheem Belgrave to thank for their share of the spoils with Guaya United at the Hasely Crawford Stadium Training Field. The teenage custodian produced a number of smart saves to deny leading goalscorer Carlon Hughes and company.

Belgrave was ably assisted by defender Trevon Mitchell who was resilient to deny the Guaya United wing play.

While the strength of Guaya United may have intimidated some, QPCC’s attack didn’t shy away from their tasks. Guaya United defender Sherlon Campbell had to be sharp to snuff out all attacks and in doing so, he provided the stable platform for the “Green Army”s attackers to try to do the job at the other end.

At the other end of the island, Siparia Spurs prevailed in a 3-2 shoot out with Bethel United. Siparia’s Arvid Applewhite was particularly impressive and commanded the ball with assurity. This created the platform for midfield architect Chris Collins to pull the strings for the “Sand City Boys” as he laid the ball on for Dwayne Edwards to score soon after notching a goal of his own.

The midfield in this Round’s Team of the Week belongs to the dynamic Defence Force duo of Dexter Thornhill and Seon Jack. Thornhill in particular was imperious and has been knocking on the door of the Team of the Week for some time. He was even able to cap off his impressive performance against FC Santa Rosa by providing the pass for Josimar Belgrave to score the team’s second.

Police FC bounced back from their recent poor form by beating a demotivated Cunupia FC outfit 1-0 at St James Barracks. The result was in no small part based on Chase Sealey’s goal and overall performance.

Capping off the Team of the Week midfield is UTT goalscoring midfielder Dillon Bartholomew. Bartholomew has hit a purple patch in front of the goal recently and rescued UTT from 2-0 to claim a draw against Club Sando Moruga.

Quickfire, early goals was the name of the game for our Team of the Week attackers. Kyle Morgan of Club Sando Moruga opened the scoring against UTT in the 3rd minute, before providing Marcus John with the pass for him to score his goal in the 10th minute. It was a great overall effort from Morgan.

He is partnered in attack by WASA FC’s Michael Lee Celestine who proved to be goal poacher extraordinaire against 1976 Phoenix FC. Twice within the first 14 minutes, he was in the right place at the right time to poke home after some excellent build up play from Dwight Crichlow.

I heard both both Boys and Girls won medals at the Junior Commonwealth games. Girls got Gold and Boys Silver?

Special Olympian makes history with CYG gold-medal beach soccer team

http://teamtto.org/index.php/international-games/youth-commonwealth-games/6699-special-olympian-makes-history-with-cyg-gold-medal-beach-soccer-team

The Team TTO girls beach soccer team created double history when they claimed the gold medal at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Nassau , Bahamas Saturday night.
Not only did they become the first team sport to win a gold medal for this country, but they also included the first special needs athlete within their ranks to achieve the feat: Tamika Campbell.

Campbell is a higher functioning athlete with a slight learning disability who has represented the Special Olympics of Trinidad and Tobago (SOTT) at the Special Olympics World Games in California in 2015 and the Special Olympics Winter Games in Austria earlier this year.

Campbell was discovered at the SOTT Seaside Games at Maracas in October last year when the Beach Soccer Association of Trinidad and Tobago (BSATT) collaborated with the SOTT last year.

BSATT president Kyle Lequay said Campbell -she plays floor hockey, basketball and athletics as well- stood out while playing with the boys.

“We later held a coaching course for players with special needs at Saith Park and again she was impressive so when the TTOC gave the green light that there would be a TeamTTO girls beach soccer team at CYG, we invited her to trials,” said Lequay.

At the screening session in April, coach Chad Appoo recommended Campbell- described as an attacking and competitive player by both Lequay and SOTT president Candy Berment-Harper- be selected to the final Team TTO girls beach soccer team.

“ She is a nice , quiet girl whose personality really comes out when she interacts with her teammates Coach Appoo said she is very willing to learn and does whatever is demanded of her. We feel with a little more direction, she will develop into an even better player,”Lequay said.

“We are so happy and proud of her because it shows is with the inclusion of special needs kids not only can they participate at a high level but they can be successful once they have the ability and opportunity to work hard and push themselves. She created double history “

Berment -Harper was also gushing about her feelings about Campbell’s achievement.

“ We were so proud of her because people in Trinidad and Tobago, they still really don’t accept special needs children but with this feat by the girls beach football and Tamika being able to contribute to their success, it really made the SOTT fraternity proud,” she said about Campbell who attends the Lady Hochoy Home in Gasparillo.

“It could not have happened to a nicer person , she is so helpful, is a team player and always wants to win.l I really can only say complimentary things about her,”Berment-Harper stressed.

“ It is just great to see her crossing over and being part of a regular team and being successful.Hopefully she inspires more of our athletes to follow in her footsteps,” -Berment-Harper

TTSL 1 TEAM OF THE WEEK – ROUND 6
www.ttsuperleague.com

Trinidad and Tobago Super League (TTSL)- League One featured some surprising scorelines  in Round Six with many players making their debuts in the TTSL Team of the Week (TOTW).

Siparia Spurs were the biggest winners of the round after they notched their first win of the season in a 0-1 win over Cunupia FC. While Marlon Phillip scored a rocket in the final few minutes, the “Sand City Boys” had their teenage goalkeeper Ishmael Salam to thank for preserving their clean sheet.

Salam was phenomenal in goal, recording more than 10 saves as he single-handedly denied the Cunupia FC onslaught.

Salam’s skipper, Kevon Bascombe, ably assisted his younger counterpart but putting in a commendable performance in defence.

Joining him in the Team of the Week defence are FC Santa Rosa’s Marc Leslie, whose experience was key in maintaining a clean sheet against 1976 Phoenix FC in Tobago and Adisa Huston of UTT who notched two assists as his team thumped Police FC 6-0.

On the wings, the “Big Cannons” Nathan Julien put in a man of the match performance, while Guaya United continued their perfect start to the season with Kendes Garcia heralded as the star of the show against Bethel United at the Mt Gomery Recreation Ground. Garcia terrorized the Bethel defence and capped off his performance with a goal and an assist.

QPCC’s dynamic duo Nasyir Rodriquez and Devon Modeste put in goal scoring performances to turn the tide in the second half against Defence Force TTSL. Trailing 1-0 from a first half strike, Rodriguez pounced on some less than convincing defending to score from close range in the 66th minute. The evergreen Modeste then scored a thumping penalty a few minutes later to confirm the win for the Parkites.

In the rollercoaster match of the round, WASA FC’s Dwight Crichlow proved to be the difference maker. He latched onto a right sided cross from Daniel St Cyr to volley in his first item before rounding the Club Sando Moruga goal keeper a few minutes later, to score what would turn out to the game winner in a 4-3 affair.

TOTW Debutant, UTT’s  J’Deem Parris scored the only hat trick of the round against a struggling Police FC. The attacker was rampant and fluid alongside fellow Team of the Week player Dillon Bartholomew who recorded 2 goals and an assist.

Parris placed the ball into the bottom corner following a quick counter before scoring two more from close range with feeds from the impressive Adisa Huston and Isaiah Mejias.

Clarke hopes Super League players gain national recognition.
T&T Newsday Reports.

“PRIOR TO this (call up), Super League players didn’t have a chance. I hope this would open the window.” Trinidad and Tobago Super League leading goalscorer Keron Clarke was elated to receive his maiden call-up to the provisional Trinidad and Tobago men’s football team, who will be preparing for a friendly international against Ecuador on July 26 in Guayaquil.

The FC Santa Rosa attacker has already bagged seven goals so far this season, including an immensely impressive hat-trick against Club Sando Moruga and is hoping that his form continues into his time with the national team.

“I’m off to a flyer right now! The goals are coming in and hopefully the form will overflow into the national team stint,” a brimming Clarke said in a story on the Super League website.

He continued, “Last season was a bit tougher, the goals were few and far between. But this season has been good and I just want to thank God. It’s only through him that I have the talent and everything.

“And now, it’s a privilege just to get a call up…just even to be considered.” Clarke has been a dominant force at the heart of FC Santa Rosa’s chase to win back-to-back league titles.

FC Santa Rosa founder and coach Keith Look Loy was equally ecstatic at his captain’s call-up and even more so, what it represents in terms of opportunities for players in the Super League.

“This is huge for the club and the TTSL,” commented Look Loy. “It validates the work of the former and heightens the status and image of the latter. I anticipate more TTSL players breaking through.” These sentiments were echoed by Clarke, who sees himself as setting the foundation and becoming an inspiration for younger players in the TT Super League to aim to achieve similar opportunities.

“I want all of the Super League players, staff, coaches, everybody and especially the younger players to use this as an opportunity,” said Clarke.

“Prior to this (call-up), Super League players didn’t have a chance. I hope this would open the window, especially for younger players to work towards…who might have a chance at a career (in football).” The 31-year-old Clarke continued, “the barrier that was holding back Super League players seems to be going.

“I just hope that everybody recognises this and use this as an opportunity.” Lawrence has also received glowing praise from the members of the TT Super League community for Clarke’s call-up with many labelling the inclusion as surprising, but bold and refreshing.

TTSL LEADING SCORER GETS NATIONAL TEAM CALL UP

http://ttsuperleague.com/ttsl-leading-scorer-gets-national-team-call/

“Prior to this (call up), Super League players didn’t have a chance. I hope this would open the window.”

Trinidad and Tobago Super League (TTSL) leading goal scorer Keron Clarke was elated to receive his maiden call up to the Trinidad and Tobago Senior National Men’s Provisional Squad which will be preparing for a friendly international against Ecuador on 26 July 2017 in Guayaquil.

The FC Santa Rosa hotshot has already bagged 7 goals so far this season, including an immensely impressive hat trick against Club Sando Moruga and is hoping that his form continues into his time with the National Team.

“I’m off to a flyer right now! The goals are coming in and hopefully the form will overflow into the national team stint,” a brimming Clarke told TTSL Media.

He continued, “last season was a bit tougher, the goals were few and far between. But this season has been good and I just want to thank God. Its only through him that I have the talent and everything. ”

“And now, it’s a privilege just to get a call up…just even to be considered.”

Clarke has been a dominant force at the heart of FC Santa Rosa’s chase to win back to back league titles and the “Big Cannons” currently sit three points off of leaders Guaya United who have played a game more.

FC Santa Rosa Founder and Head Coach Keith Look Loy was equally ecstatic at his captain’s call up and even more so, what it represents in terms of opportunities for players in the TTSL.

“This is huge for the club and the TTSL”  commented Look Loy. “It validates the work of the former and heightens the status and image of the latter. I anticipate more TTSL players breaking through.”

These sentiments were echoed by Clarke, who sees himself as setting the foundation and becoming an inspiration for younger players in the TT Super League to aim to achieve similar opportunities.

“I want all of the Super League players, staff, coaches, everybody and especially the younger players to use this as an opportunity, ” said Clarke.

“Prior to this (call up), Super League players didn’t have a chance. I hope this would open the window, especially for younger players to work towards…who might have a chance at a career (in football).”

The 31 year old Clarke continued, “the barrier that was holding back Super League players seems to be going. I just hope that everybody recognizes this and use this as an opportunity.”

Clarke is expected to travel with FC Santa Rosa to Tobago to face winless 1976 Phoenix FC on Sunday 16 July before linking up with T&T Senior National Men’s Team Head Coach Dennis Lawrence on Monday.

Lawrence has also received glowing praise from the members of the TT Super League community for Clarke’s call up with many labeling the inclusion as surprising, but bold and refreshing.

Guaya solidifies top spot in TTSL.
ttsuperleague.com.

Guaya United continued their fine form in Round Two of the Trinidad and Tobago Super League (TTSL) by claiming a 4-2 win over Siparia Spurs.

The “Green Army” raced to a 2-0 lead at half time through goals from Kendes Garcia and Kevin Jagdeosingh, who were both making their first appearances for the season. Jagdeosingh added his second, early in the second half before Carlon “Judgement” Hughes scored to make it two goals in two games for the Guaya marksman.

Dwayne Edwards scored late on for the home team, but similar to Andy London’s goal in the 52nd minute, it came as merely a consolation.

At St James Barracks, Defence Force TTSL FC ensured that they kept on the heels of Guaya United, by sauntering to a 2-0 over Police FC in the “servicemen” derby. Josimar Belgrave showed how lethal he can be in dead ball situations as he bent in a free kick in the first half, before rounding off the win with a penalty in the 73rd minute.

QPCC recovered from their opening round loss, by condemning Club Sando Moruga to a consecutive defeat at St Anthony’s College Grounds. Forward Kevaughn John bagged a brace for the Parkities and was ably assisted by the evergreen Devon Modeste who proved to be a thorn in Moruga’s side throughout the match.

Cunupia FC also bounced back to beat WASA FC by a solitary goal. Michael Darko scored in the 30th minute and the “Predators” were able to hold onto the win with Tevin Mungo proving to be especially resolute in the Cunupia defence.

FC Santa Rosa made a triumphant debut at the Arima Velodrome with a 2-0 win over visiting Bethel United FC. Santa Rosa captain Keron Clarke was chief destroyer with a goal and an assist at the Arima venue, while Rashad Griffith, the team’s top scorer from last season, also got on the score sheet for the “Big Cannons” as a second half substitute. Teenage attacker Saleem Henry, also displayed his burgeoning talent with another impressive display in Santa Rosa colours.

In the late kick off, Isaiah Mejias scored a double but it was Theon James who was the star of the show for UTT as they dismantled 1976 Phoenix FC 4-2 at O’meara Campus. Midfielder James, was creative and incisive as he set up goals for Mejias and Dillon Bartholomew while also being rewarded with a goal of his own in the 55th minute via an assist from J’Deem Parris.

TTSL continues on Sunday 25 June with Round Three action.

Santa Rosa blank Bethel in Velodrome; Makan wants more Tobagonians on Soca Warriors.
By R.Walcott (Wired868).

Defending champions FC Santa Rosa notched their second straight win of the Trinidad and Tobago Super League (TTSL) season as they defeated Tobago’s Bethel United by a 2-0 margin before an appreciative crowd at the Arima Velodrome yesterday.

Great efforts have been made by Super League holders Santa Rosa and TT Pro League club North East Stars to return football to the famed Velodrome. And it was only Friday evening that the Velodrome was deemed unsatisfactory to host a Pro League match between home team Stars and three-time defending Pro League victors Central FC, after the visitors complained about the lighting and the field markings at the venue prior to kick off.

Yesterday however, without any adjustments to the field markings, Rosa and Bethel’s 4pm duel went off without a hitch.

Despite being defending champions, the “Big Cannons” would not have expected a cakewalk against Bethel, who dumped Rosa out of the Super League knockout competition last season en route to clinching the knockout crowns themselves.

The visitors, aided by the giant presence of former Trinidad and Tobago national youth and senior team defender Makan Hislop, gave a fairly decent showing in the first half as they tested the Santa Rosa defence with a barrage of long balls. However, the Tobagonians were less threatening in the second half once the hosts took away their ‘route one’ access.

According to Santa Rosa coach Keith Look Loy, things aligned perfectly with the playbook.

“For the entire match they played with three central defenders and in the first half I thought [we would allow them to play the long balls],” Look Loy told Wired868. “What we didn’t want in the second half was for them to play long balls with the wind and with the slope. So I asked our forwards to press in on their centre backs and we significantly reduced the long balls they were playing.”

Rosa did not have it all their own way in Arima yesterday though, as Bethel’s Akiel Holdford fashioned a couple decent chances in the first half and was generally one of the brighter sparks for the visitors on a bleak afternoon.

Holdford, who turned out for Signal Hill in the 2016 Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) alongside three of his Bethel teammates, nearly squeezed his team into the lead in the fourth minute when he tried to punish stranded Rosa goalkeeper Kitwanna Manning.

Thankfully for Manning, defender Marc Leslie was there to clean up the mess. Just two minutes later, Holdford again prompted concerns for Manning as the attacker struck a meaty volley just over bar following a miscued clearance by Leslie’s central defensive partner, Alfie James.

The enthusiastic Holdford deserved an ‘A’ for effort yesterday, and his ‘spanner’ on Rosa’s Durwin Ross on the near sideline would have taken him to the top of the class if not for a typically tigerish tackle by the recovering Vincentian.

Ross, who rarely shows up on the stat sheet, was voted Rosa’s MVP last season for his combative midfield play. And yesterday he reminded Holdford that he was not the easiest player to get around.

While Holdford and his teammates were trying to shrug off the likes of Ross on one end, Santa Rosa attackers Mikheil Peters and Keron Clarke were doing their best to run the Bethel defenders ragged at the other.

Peters, a much sought after attacker in the Super League, got himself into dangerous positions down Rosa’s right in the first half and twice forced goalkeeper Joel Sampson into sharp saves.

In the 13th minute, Peters brought the Velodrome to life as he spanked a right-footed effort on frame. Meanwhile, the bustling forward saw his powerful close range shot turned back by Sampson near the half hour mark after working a neat exchange with substitute Jesse Rampersad.

Cracks were beginning to show on the left side of the Bethel defence and the hosts were determined to exploit that leak. Clarke and right-back Joel Duffal both had near misses during flowing moves while Peters was denied by a last-gasp tackle by Bethel’s Oral Williams in the 41st minute.

Rosa broke the deadlock from the resulting corner kick though, as Clarke headed a teasing Saleem Henry cross past Sampson for the opener.

The Big Cannons conceded the fewest goals in the Super League’s top flight last season and Bethel surely knew that mustering a comeback on enemy territory would be an uphill task.

“Our philosophy is if we get the first goal in a match, chances are the opposition has lost because we are going to defend well,” Look Loy told Wired868. “If we get the first goal we figure we are halfway home.”

With such a miserly defence, it must be some luxury to be able to call on your top scorer from among the substitutes.

Rosa’s Rashad Griffith, who scored 19 goals last season, was summoned from the bench on the hour mark and it took the speedy forward all of five minutes to get on the score sheet, as he finished neatly from close range after an unselfish pass from Clarke.

The goal was not without controversy as Griffith appeared to get away with a foul, midway in the Bethel half of the field, during the buildup, only for referee Rashby McPhie to wave play on.

On the face of it, Griffith’s item was an insurance policy. But Manning might tell you it was wholly unnecessary as his goalmouth saw very little action in the second half.

In the game’s aftermath, Hislop put his team’s defeat down to inexperience and a lack of composure in the final third, as he felt his teammates did not capitalise when they got into promising positions.

Truthfully speaking, Bethel coach Urington Samuel may have to reserve more time for crossing  practice in his upcoming sessions as his players sent at least five crosses—including a corner—behind Manning’s goal.

Hislop, who spoke at length about the development of Tobago’s young players, strongly believes that the sister isle needs some method of standardisation to better integrate its players into the national team pool.

“Tobago has always been blessed with raw talent. In my time playing in the professional league in Trinidad, every single team had a Tobagonian player on it as a standout,” Hislop told Wired868. “And I’ve always had a big grudge against that because the opportunity for Tobagonians to do something on a national scale is so hard.

“For them to do anything they have to come to Trinidad. And that’s a big step when you take in travel, accommodation and meals. Meanwhile, a Trinidadian just has to go on the Bus Route and he is in training.

“I would really like to see a standard, whereby every year I could say for sure that ten or even five Tobagonians will have a look in on the national team… When you have screenings in Trinidad you hear about 40 Trinidadians and three Tobagonians. The odds are heavily stacked against a Tobagonian excelling and, because of that [and] the psychology of a young person, they don’t see a professional contract in Trinidad being a reality to them.”

Bethel would hope to give a better example of what Trinidad football fans are missing out on next Sunday when they host WASA FC from 6pm at the Mt Gomery Recreation Ground. Meanwhile Santa Rosa will attempt to maintain their 100 percent record away to QPCC from 4pm at the St Mary’s College Grounds on Serpentine Road, St Clair.

taking een some youtube videos of recent games of keon daniel & tulla & decide to see what was said about him (tulla) in the past. to me keon appear overweight & slow right now, a shadow of what we remember, probably never to see t&t colors again...except a 2nd or 3rd squad... tulla on the other hand, just like this description seem to mention...have the tools to do what molino  & joevin doing, but need somebody to get him fitter, run harder for longer; be a lil more clinical in his craft. could make the next level but does he want to?

interesting to also see some of the comments on other players we know little better now.

Tulla has all the tools but just doesn't have the mentality. And he is going to be 30 in a few months time. I hope he is having a better run out in the USL this season that in last season but idk who could make him want to run harder for longer. I've always said that he is in the vein of Riquelme. Sits back, relaxes. Plays the game at his pace, if he decides to play at all. Then in the 89 minute, he will produce magic and the ball is in the top corner.

Trini, George have to play, should be de first name on de coach sheet.

Alvin Jones is a right back.

You wasting Boucaud playing him so deep.

I was trying to get A Jones on the field I like what I saw with him is he so one footed?
Boucaud always plays deep for us he is good in possession and at winning the ball back can calm the middle and has decent distribution which makes him ideal for this position.

Largely yes. The members of the squad who are comfortable in a LB role are Williams, Hodge, David and Joevin.

I guess the Bostock question was answered.

Any boat ride next weekend?

No Hoytes?

Lawrence said after the Barbados match that Bostock isn't ready to commit

Has Tallest even named the squad yet?

Should be officially naming it after training in the morning tomorrow. Atlanta and Seattle announced Kenwyne and Joevin were called up though.

One of the reason why people has never taken the pro-league seriously. Teams come a go so often. It was Arima Fire, South West drillers?, Mau Pau, Joe Public. I can't remember the others. There is no stability with clubs. The stable clubs do not get the sponsors. But I think it is a good move that NE and Santa Rosa can share the same field. Hopefully, Keith can get some money and bring his team to the proleague. Then there will be a real rivalry in Arima. It would be nice if Tunapuna and Tacarigua can form a a team and play under the name of Eddie Hart United or something like that. That would be interesting.

Not Keith's plan in the slightest lol

Keron is back for T&T.

Anyone see him play lately?

I am so happy to hear this news. !!!!

Hasn't been a starter for Central for the entire season. From a personal stand point, he was far from his best.

This is a quote from Dennis on his call-up though: “Keron [Cummings] plays in a position on the football pitch that was one of the positions that I was interested in finding players for,” said Lawrence. “Keron has demonstrated to me that he understands the position… He has the experience of being around the international football before.

“From that point of view, I would like to work with him and see if we can improve on him." - Wired868

Hey, can anyone say if Kerron is playing for his club right now and if so, how is he looking?

He isn't a consistent starter for Central and is still struggling to regain form. It will take some time to get back his rhythm.

But if he doh play ...

He's appeared in at least 16 (11 starts or so) of Central's 20 games so far this season. It's a tough situation for him to adjust.

Adjust in regards to overcoming his injury or the team?

Both. They try to do a version of an intermittent press, which is why Garcia, Paul and Mitchell are automatic starters. And De Silva, Marcano, Joseph understandably have more chemistry with the team and have been in better form.

Garcia started off as an attacking midfielder but ever since they moved him to play in front of the back four alongside Leston Paul, he has made the position his own. His performances in that position is when Hart started to take notice. He is the fulcrum of the Central team now and tenacious in closing down and in the tackle. I watched over majority of Central's matches (especially the Connection games) this season and "Spanish" outperformed Alvin. I do want to see his passing improve and be more consistent though.

I notice kerron is also not on this team, I wonder why they couldn't take him along to get him back into game mode.. setta snakes so what do you expect..

I know that you really want to see Pest back in NT action but he really isn't in any sort of form to merit a place.

Alvin is a decent prospect. He has the tools and can hopefully push on. He went backwards last season in my opinion, but he has regained some form this term. Nathaniel Garcia currently outperforms him in that def mid position at the moment though.

Updates on Cummings local based...

Slightly better recently but still a good way off in terms of form and rhythm. Central's system at times doesn't suit him but still no goals and 1 assist from 14 appearances

SUPERBLUE, MAVADO TO PERFORM AT WORLD CUP QUALIFIER TOMORROW

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association has added entertainment to the event schedule at tomorrow’s CONCACAF World Cup qualifying game at the Hasely Crawford Stadium

Nine-time Road March champion Superblue will perform before the start of the match between Trinidad and Tobago and Costa Rica which kicks off at 7pm.

Jamaican Dancehall Artiste Mavado will also make a guest appearance. Mavado has collaborated with other star artistes such as Busta Rhymes, Wyclef, Ludacris, Birdman, Fabolous, Ace Hood, Akon, Snoop Dogg and Jay Z.

http://ttfootball.org/2016/11/10/superblue-mavado-to-perform-at-world-cup-qualifier-tomorrow/

1. With the greatest respect to the living icon that is Super Blue, nowadays he completely struggles to be coherent. I really hope and pray that he can pull it together and put his demons aside, because I would hate to hear the crowd start to boo him

2. The selection of artistes is indicative of a system that stifles the young and enterprising. The likes of Voice and EA have been promoting Sheldon Bateau's brand so it's not to say that they are far away from the action. TTFA would use the same old motto of "financial constraints" but I don't know if Super or Mavado getting financial incentives  ::)

3. Mavado has a concert on Saturday, so out of convenience it may make sense. But to have him, just line up alone with Super Blue is a slap in the face of trying to rally T&T support. If the cast included 2 or 3 local artistes and Mavado just runs on to show a sense of "Caribbean support" then it could've worked.

Hackshaw and Orr star as Trinity/E edge Malick to join promoted Carapichaima and Speyside

Guess who’s back? Carapichaima East Secondary, Trinity College East and Speyside Secondary each claimed a promotion spot in the SSFL Championship Big 5 Play Off yesterday to return to the Premier Division for the 2017 season.

All three schools were relegated at the end of the 2015 season with Carapichaima East and Speyside both falling on the the last day while Trinity East suffered a record 13 losses. But what goes down must come back up.

Yesterday in Trincity, new Trinity East coach Michael Grayson could scarcely contain his joy.

“It’s a great, great feeling [to win promotion],” Grayson told Wired868. “It was a challenge. They got demoted last year and it’s not easy losing 14, 15 games. That’s a lot of losing. To change that was our first objective, and we did it.”

Grayson and his “Blue Hawks” conjured up a 2-1 win over a plucky Malick Secondary team on a swamp-like surface in Trincity while Speyside and Carapichaima played to a goalless stalemate.

Carapichaima already secured promotion by sauntering to three victories in their opening three Play Off matches. However Malick’s final day defeat was the missing ingredient in Trinity and Speyside’s promotion chase.

The identity of the three teams they will replace seems considerably less straightforward due to a recent ruling involving East Mucurapo Secondary, with Fatima College, Pleasantville Secondary, Queen’s Royal College, San Juan North and East Mucurapo all in danger of falling through the trap door.

There were fewer twists but no shortage of tackles on a muddy, waterlogged field in Trincity, which added extra spice to a do or die fixture.

Cummings plays for Central though eh. And many people have been clamoring and hoping for his speedy recovery and return to the NT but it is going to take time. By his own admission recently, he is still trying to get back to 100 % in terms of his rhythm and form. He is also contending with trying to adapt to a new team and tactics. He has only made 4 starts this season (and 5 subs appearances) and notched 1 assist. Sometimes Central's tactics may not suit him but it will still take time.

Anyhow, how come T&T clubs is de only pro club teams in de world where players dont have their names on their shirts?

Or is this a Caribbean thing?

Teams generally use the same kits for more than one season and those same uniforms double up to be used as youth team uniforms down the line.
