Exactly who owns this 'Home of Football'?

32
1st Form League
U14 League
U16 League

All had National Champions named this year.....but no Tobago Team was part of the competition.

All the zones in Trinidad were represented by their respective winners who played to be crowned as champions, but the Tobago Zone was not included.
How are our young boys to gain the experience and develop in order to have a fighting chance to compete and excel at the Premier Division level, when they are denied the opportunity.

Let me tell you about development....Half the boys on the u14 Tobago Zone winning team play for Jaric Titans. This year they won the Tobago Zone of the Republic Cup and got the opportunity to compete against the other zone winners in Trinidad.....They made it all the way to the finals before tasting defeat. The next step in their development was SSFL. So they win the Tobago Zone and have an opportunity for further development by competing in the National Competition.....You deny them this opportunity to develop..
Next year as u16s the same thing happens....lets say at u19 level they also win the Tobago Zone and even gain promotion to the Premier Division. They then are thrown into the league with absolutely no experience competing against the best in Trinidad in the SSFL. What do you think will be the outcome.
The answer to that is very easy.....all you have to do is to look at the season that BHS had in the Premier Division this year.......after suffering the same fate of being denied the opportunity at u14 and u16 levels that they also won in the preceding years.
No Tobago Team has been able to cement a place in the Premier Division....we qualify and we are demoted. Year after year people question the level of football in Tobago....they question the ability of the coaches, they question the ability of the players. They ask if we players eating too much KFC..... and stop eating dasheen.

SSFL I beg you as a parent, as a coach and as a Tobagonian..... Please do not continue to leave us out of the development plan of the SSFL.

A little background on myself...I am the coach of that Titans u14 team that made it to the finals of the Republic Cup and an assistant coach at BHS. I was also an assistant coach at a primary school here in Tobago. Over the years I have had a few opportunities to attend coaching development courses, and to coach in Trinidad, so I have a bit of a taste of the atmosphere. I have had to opportunity to rub shoulders with coaches like Sean Cooper, Brian Williams, Dada, Ken Elie, Mr. Bateau....to name a few. Because I had these opportunities in the past I have been able to develop as a coach and am now able to coach at this level.

It's painfully obvious that this immediate lack of opportunity is putting Tobago's youth at a significant disadvantage.

‘A football disaster’
By Azard Ali (T&T Newsday)

Warner hits TTFA as officials seek US talks

UPDATE:

A NATIONAL football disaster.

However, the TTFA yesterday distanced itself from Williams’ comments and said it will be “seeking an audience” with the embassy through McIntyre, given the agenda for the girls team. The TTFA said it wanted to maintain “the cordial relationship” it had with the embassy for many years. “Therefore, following an opportunity to meet and treat with this matter directly, with a designated official(s) of the US Embassy, the TTFA will be better positioned to treat with visa-related affairs,” the TTFA said in a release posted on its website.

On Williams’ remarks to Newsday, although the TTFA said his comments were “taken out of context” it noted “more importantly” that his statement “was not sanctioned by the TTFA.”
US embassy spokesman AJ Jagelski, contacted yesterday for comment, told Sunday Newsday that “nothing will be added at this time to the Charge d’ Affaires statement.” Although he faces extradition on FIFA corruption-related charges, Warner, who admitted he and the US were not “the best of friends” agreed with McIntyre.

The TTFA President made a statement as the TTFA President and did not speak on behalf of the TTFA concerning TTFA football.  ??? ??? ???

T&TFA seeks meeting with US Embassy.
T&T Guardian Reports.

After the United States Embassy here in T&T put all the blame from T&T national girls Under-15 team not securing visas to participate in a CONCACAF tournament in the United States earlier this week, through a news release on Friday by the Embassy’s Charge d’Affaires, John Mc Intyre, the T&T Football Association (TTFA) headed by David John-Williams, the president issued the following release.

It reads: ‘The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) has taken note of the recent statement issued by the Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy, Mr John McIntyre.

With utmost respect for the sovereign authority of the Chargé d’Affaires, and based on the already agreed plan of action decided by the TTFA given the matter surrounding visa applications for our Girls Under-15 Team, the TTFA will be seeking an audience with the U.S. Embassy through the Chargé d’Affaires.

Notably, it remains our desire to maintain the cordial relationship we have developed with the U.S. Embassy over these many years. A relationship that augurs well for the TTFA and all stakeholders of football. Therefore, following an opportunity to meet and treat with this matter directly, with a designated official(s) of the U.S. Embassy, the TTFA will be better positioned to treat with visa-related affairs.

Additionally, we wish to state that a recent report in a local daily news publication, ascribed to the President of the TTFA, was taken out of context, and more importantly, was not sanctioned by the TTFA.”

Speaking earlier this week after the local girls’ team was not granted US Visas to attend the tournament at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, USA, T&TFA president John-Williams suggested that the governing body for the region, Concacaf, looked into the idea of hosting the event and others in the feature in other countries, because most Caribbean nations are faced with problems when trying to acquire US Visas.

However, in a strongly worded reply from them, the T&TFF was cited as being the ones to drop the ball on the matter.

According Mr. McIntyre, who wrote: “I, along with my embassy colleagues, rarely comment on visa matters due to the respect we have for the privacy of the applicants and our rules and regulations. However, I must respond to the Red Card commentary of Mr David John Williams. Why we have chosen to respond is because your failure to plan is effecting promising football (soccer) players from Trinidad and Tobago to whom we would welcome playing in the USA. In addition, your comments can adversely affect our ongoing efforts to grow our sports diplomacy programs here in T and T.

I will be blunt. Mr Williams and the TTFA just flat out dropped the ball on the visa process. Our Embassy for MONTHS noted that individuals and groups should plan well in advance for any trips to the USA. The Trinidad and Tobago Girls Under-15 representatives approached the Embassy about visas after we were closed on Tuesday, July 31 to get their visas by Friday, August 3 with the Emancipation holiday in between. No names or details about the visa applicants were provided. Even after games were rescheduled, there was too little time allowed, just two working days for an established 7-10 day process, not to mention that this is peak visa season when most people have to wait six weeks just for a visa interview. Many groups have successfully travelled to the USA by being prepared and planning in advance. In fact, if you look at our Facebook page from a few weeks ago you will see a youth team playing in the USA at a major football (soccer) tourney.

I want to take this opportunity to again ask the Trinidad and Tobago public, as we have since April, so please plan in advance for travel to the USA. Know, as you see in the news almost daily, we are committed to our relationship with the citizens of T and T at all levels, including sports diplomacy. Don’t let folks with cocoa in the sun mislead you.”

Too late, too late is the cry now...... Damn shameful.

U15 girls take the L and will not participate in their U15 tournament in Florida.

Brace for sanctions.

« on: July 30, 2018, 05:00:17 AM »
Being on both sides of this debate, I'll give my seemingly 'biased' point of view.

Marketing 101.

A S.W.O.T. analysis would have been done by the SSFL sponsors to determine which would have been better for future growth in their goods and/or services. If the Pro-League development product did not meet their criteria, guess what possible sponsors would do?

Development 101.

From where I stand, SSFL is specifically for school children to play. It has it's place and for most it's NOT development. For us coaches who recognise and understand the benefits of SSFL, you find a way to work with it. In-school academies such as what Grosvenor is doing at QRC (I'm working on my blueprint for Bishop's High School's Development Academy as well) can do a lot for player development within the school environment. Youth Development needs a bit of creative thinking and work-arounds.

In addition, the majority of players who enter the youth national program ranks are from these same Pro-League club development system environment. As much as he levels a scathing attack on SSFL, he's also highlighting the incredible inefficiencies the Pro-League development system has to offer our youth and the answer to these issues tend to lie in two main areas:

1. Administration

2. Finances and/or sponsorship (spoken out in1st paragraph)

What needs to happen on the Pro-League side of things is simple: they need to make themselves a more viable option for development and that tends to start from in-house. It's made worse when the Pro-League itself is in the press for all the wrong reasons (players' strike due to non-payment of wages).

Prepare yourselves for plenty more of this in the years to come

Kudos to the reported 2000 to 2500 fans that allegedly came out to see the game.  Die hard T&T supporters, family and friends
here you go with the gloom and doom, why can't we see this as the beginning of the rebuilding process where we have to get down and dirty in the clean up campaign, why not reserve our judgment for later.

The team had already rebuilt and was having success.

Allyuh puppeteers decide to sabotage the team to use it as dey personal audition stage to try and sell players in the Pro League to make $ fuh deyself.

Now you have the gall to come on here and preach bout rebuilding and patience?

Allyuh must be really feel people dotish in trute.  Your message board name well appropriate.

That's the truth . . .
when did that happen? maybe im missing something here. I was somehow under the impression that rebuilding a team takes time and lots of effort and not some fly by night venture. lord give me strength. sigh.

Go back in history...maybe 18-24 months prior to today's date. Check to see which person was at the helm of the T&T men's senior team. You should need strentgh to ask why are we rebuilding a team that had been in the same rebuilding process almost 2 years prior. Instability is a hell of a thing eh.

Good morning.

And there you have it.

The TFA U15 program has worked.

Jaiye Sheppard (former Scarborough Secondary School student) wins the 2017 SSFL Premier Division with Presentation San Fernando and Adriel George was instrumental in  Bishop's High School's 2017 Tobago Zone SSFL U19 first ever League title and promotion to the 2018 Premier Division.

This program was initiated this year (2017). Both made it all the way to the Trinidad and Tobago National U15 team earlier this year. Imagine that eh....

What a year for Bishop's High School football.

1st title in the U19 division since SSFL came to Tobago in 1980.

Earned promotion to 2018 SSFL Premier Division.

6th season of working with what I considered the 'toughest SSFL boys football environment' in all of Tobago.

U14 and U16 (previous years), U19 title and now 'SSFL big league'.

Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!

Massive thanks to all who supported Mr. Allum and I on this journey.

What a journey!!!!!!!!!!!!
