Italy need to stop blaming others for their failures. For people who claim to have the toughest and one of the most skilful leagues in Europe (and rightfully so), they always complaining about draw, referee, etc. Instead of crying foul, they should go out and play attacking football instead of catenaccio- scoring one goal and locking up. The reason why Italy can't win is because they afraid to lose, and this is summed up in Euro 2000 when they had France to kill, but decide to close up shop. Granted it worked in 1982, but most sides that win a world tournament attack. I used to like Italy but their brand of football and imaginary conspiricies make meh cyar support them anymore.

Just to clarify: are we talking about Gonzales Village close to Point Fortin or the one in POS? Just a queston, no need to be defensive.

It would be interesting to see if Rijkaard would change his philosophy a bit if Henry comes in by playing E'too and Henry together up front. Personally, I don't think he will. My feeling is that Henry will play the left where Ronaldinho plays now, and Ronaldinho will move to a central position ala his position for Brazil, leaving Deco, Guily and Messi to fight for pick. If he plays all of them, then he have more belly than I thought, because this leaves only Xavi to hold de fort. Remember, after that it only have four outfield players left- either 1 more defensive midfielder (Van Bommel) and 3 defenders, or 4 straight defenders.

Football / Re: Free kicks
« on: November 29, 2005, 08:00:00 PM »
In this day and age when practically every self-respecting team have a solid crosser and free kick taker, why it is Trinidad doh have that. Everybody learning to bend ball and whip een low hard crosses, why men from T&T still flioating corners and cross-balls, and bending free-kicks way overbar? For bullet free-kicks, Spann should be called upon as he could really kick that ball, but for some reason, they seem reluctant to give him the responsibility.

-----------Henry---Eto'o
Ronaldinho----Deco------Messi
-----------------Xavi

imagine that coming down yuh throat

IS DEATH

cause that is real speed

I would love to see all a dem play bredder. But it ain't happening. Unless Xavi is Makalele, then Barca will get licks with this team. Behind them is four defenders and no defensive midfielder. It go be the second coming of the present Real Madrid. Even Pareira say one of the "magical quintet" have to sit dong for Brazil. In today's football, it too risky to play without SOLID DEFENSIVE anchor men.

Football / Re: Football Racism in Italy

We could say what we want about the English League, if is one thing, them FA offcials does punish man, team, and supporters for anything off-key, especially anything resembling racism. Italy and, more recently Spain, seem to not want to deal with this kind of thing, which reflects badly on their society. Imagine team getting fined a few hundred Euros in Spain for monkey chants at men like E'too. That is insulting! One team even had the balls to say the Spanish League thiefing them while not doing anything about their racist supporters. I read sometime that not all supporters are racist and that they simply see it as heckling any player, and I think this is how the authorities looking at it. Real disgusting stuff in his day and age. America does have they racial problems, but yuh doh see it in sports. Some a these European countries have no shame.

Renee Simoes is the man I would like to see coach trinidad. If it was not for those events that happened when he was there, he could easily have taken us to the world cup. Jamaica were crazy to let him go, because it is he who made them into a real knocking team. Just look at how Marta and dem brazil girls dominate the US in the last Olympics only to lose unfortunately. That game still hurts me to today. Anywhere that man goes, he not only improves a team, but teaches men to knock a skilful brand. I remember Warren Archibald saying that Dom Basil taught the great Benedicts team of the 60's how to play football-how to move off the ball and when to move off the ball. I think Simoes possesses that kind of coaching pedigree and knowledge. We need men showing our young players what to do on the field at an early age.

Which of the greats chook a foot in defence? Pele? Maradona? Zidane? None a dem. How yuh feel they have the energy to attack?  ;D. Anyway, my two cents. Dinho is de best right now. If he continue like this, he WILL BE in the great catogory. As for Zizou, see my avatar!

Been reading dis board for months, and finally decided to post. First, lemme say good job by the moderators and hello to everyone on this board. About division I college ball, it is definitely higher than SSFL, and anybody who say so doh really believe that, or the schools they see play getting 12 every game. I would say they would give PFL teams a hard run for they money though. It is not at all pretty to watch, but it tough and effective. It is designed mostly to win at all costs. When I watch my school (Clemson) play, yuh cyar even pick out more that 3 men you will go to see. Is simply big, strong, fast men playing to win and not to conceed goals,. That is how americans play "soccer" and it is reflected in the MLS. That is not how we are taught, and our players get lost in between what we know and what we are taught at college level.  Right now a youthman who serious about football should stay in trinidad if he want a contract. Opportunities have increased exponentially in trinidad. The system here ain't designed to push thru trinidadians anyway. As some a alyuh said before, men leaving out football after getting their degrees. Also, european teams look for men from 17-21 in Trinidad rather than from college football or MLS at the age of 22-23.
