2006 World Cup - Germany / Thanks to the Stalwarts and Hopes for New Year
« on: December 14, 2005, 11:42:03 AM »
I would like to thank Flex for having the vision for setting up this board which as far as I am concerned goes far beyond football and plays a huge role in linking the Trini diaspora throughout the globe.  I know we are all excited about going to the WC.  I am too.  However, reading the posts I would urge the posters not to post misinformation about the costs of the Germany next year.  Unless you are staying by friends etc., the WC wxperience will be a very expensive one.  I was excoriated by some on this board for saying that the Simpaul's package is not unreasonable, just sitting by my computer, I discover that Razorgator's similar, nay identical, package is $7529 with $10, 750 for single occupancy.  I love this board but what i donot like is people making wild charges and claiming corruption, overcharging and the like without doing any research.  I have spoken about this issue not because I am Simpaul's CEO but because the talk about this topic is illustrative at some of the illinformed comment sometimes prevalent on this board.

Happy Holidays to the stalwarts Truetrini, socapro, morvantman et al.  Talking bout Al where meh partner AL from yesteryear

2006 World Cup - Germany / Re: Just went to TTFF to check on tickets
« on: December 13, 2005, 04:26:27 PM »
Sorry to interject a little sense into the discussion.  A few points:
1.  You cannot get a 5 star hotel in Germany anytime of the year for $US2500 for 12 nights in Germany farless for World Cup season.  I have done my own checking for 5 star accomodations  and per night at 5 star hotels start at 450 euros per night ($US800) during WC2006
2.  I made no comment as to whether it's fair that Simpaul offering tickets in their package while you cant get tickets to buy singly.  I merely said that for the price what Simpaul is offering is not unreasonable.
3. Anyone who does their homework will realize that $US5k for 12 days in Germany inclusive of tickets is not unreasonable.  Instead of being emotive do the research.  That's why i took a vacation from this board - people talk without any facts to back up what they are saying and want to get under the collar.

I urge anybody to show me a 4 star hotel that is charging less than 200 euros a night for the WC2006, I want to be proved incorrect by facts not ole talk

Gentlemen,

Hope all is well.  I travel frequently and I am here to tell you that people are villifying the TTFF and Simpaul's unfairly.  I spoke to the TTFF and they have said that the $30k is for 4star accommodations for 12 nights including breakfast.  That is a little under $5kUS.  By comparison a 4 star hotel in LOndon in the summer would set you back about 200 pounds per night.  A 4 star hotel in Germany for the World Cup will be at a minimum of 200 to 250 euros or near to $400us. 12 nights would be near $US4800.  Plus tickets.  Where they are making money is through the group discounts.  So the $30k fee can by no way be considered unreasonable.  What I would do before i buy is ask where you staying to ensure that it is indeed 4 star.
Take this from someone who travels to Europe on business frequently, if you don't want to go the hostel/camping route, you are sadly mistaken if you believe that your Germany adventure will cost you less than $5k to $6kUS minimum.  Just an attempt to introduce rationality into the discussion

Hello all,

Truetrini, Socapro, Al especially.  Was away for a while.  You all bringing back real memories.  Haven't had the time to be posting but have been following up the board on an almost daily basis.  Will be posting more regularly from now one.  I realize I really miss the jousting and will be seeing everybody in Germany in 2006.  For me, it really has not sunk in yet that T&T has made it on the biggest stage that sport has to offer.  In the coming days, I will ge giving my thoughts on the team, Bennaker and the man to whom much praise is due - Jack Warner.  PEG back for good
