hoo hoo! England and more importantly Anderson was wiping the glee off the aussies faces today with a 5-wicket haul...then came Onions with 4 and Swann to take 1
I just rejoice when Australia gets beaten...I know I'm baad
anyhow this game will change with the weather I bet, and we'll get a good competition over the next few days
hooray for test cricket! ;D

ain't it funny that the 'illegal' suit was ok for the phelps to wear when he won because nobody else had them- now he is beaten it is a bad suit...

  well! well! what next!
imagine receiving a 'death threat' and not reporting it? isn't the PM the head of the Security Council?
and by the way- just who would have been killed? the 'bloodshed' the PM referred to would have been whose?

curiouser and curiousier...

so what are you saying Sammy?- you don't think T & T can beat Bangladesh???
surely you jest? ;D
that said tho' I don't think we should officially go solo- I believe in the west Indian team as a concept.
maybe t & t can play other countries in a friendly- like in football or something- that way we will improve..

'up in bad times and grounded...' well that sounds like marshalling to me- at least that's what I mean by being a leader ;D

are you serious? I like Birchall for his energy and work rate, but surely the captain needs to be able to read the game and marshall the team toward either defensive or attacking play..

in all of this talk, is there any news of potential players on aug 12? there are training sessions every week for locals, aren't there? anybody has any news of this?

I am looking for the names of DY's replacement in your posts and so far there is no suggestion for replacement as captain.
we may be able to replace him in midfield, but who is improving and maturing into the captain's armband?
at one time I thought Dennis Lawrence was looking good for it, but his last game was so horrible that I scratched him from that post. anybody else?

why all the fuss? any stranger reading these posts would think that to play for t & T is some great honour and the pay is so great that you could get rich...whaat? I seriously doubt that the pay is so good, and we only got to the WC once so far and not even qualifying for the gold cup some years...so? and they still want to play for us...
and to besides, if they can play and they pass the fitness test and the coach need someone with their skill set- why not?
come on guys- relax a little nah.

now that the senior team is available, does anyone think they should replace those already selected for the one dayers?
I think they should be made to wait until the second game

okay jai but there's no point replacing a player without training a replacement- I think Latapy is looking for such a player- and in the meantime the playing time of DY will be reduced until the replacement is ready..
who do you like for the replacement?
anyhoo that would be my strategy..
and anyway why can't we talk about training a replacement without bringing down another player? that kind of thinking is so destructive...we can do better
 ;D

OMG this is turning into a discussion of how Latapy is playing DY because they are 'friends'...
come on guys- do we have a midfielder capable of making plays and keeping the team together better than DY?
I haven't seen any- and 20 mins of Dwight is better than 90 mins without him- imo
Theobald was trying and then everybody here was crying him down as 'wannabe' dwight- so what was really wrong with trying to be like the best captain TT ever had on the field?
everybody that makes an effort has to play with us- the supposed to be 'supporters' -on their back...yes we have individual opinions- but surely we can make comments without destroying the player's morale and sense of self-worth..
I am a soca-warrior! win or lose I am a fighter!

Cricket Anyone / Re: Test cricket could die out warns MCC
« on: July 17, 2009, 06:44:54 AM »
the 20/20 type game may be exciting, but test cricket is still my preferred form of the game. unfortunately people like me have no way of changing or halting progress. I think it is inevitable that we will have to get our test match jollies from watching old  ;D games. such is life, and we must move on.
the best thing the MCC and the ICC can do is find a way to get this change under their control by changing the scheduling and the mix of games. for instance instead of 5 test matches/2 -oneday games/ and 1- 20/20 games on a tour they can say 3 test matches,3 onedayers and 2 20/20, then 1:3:3 and so on so on...
and yes the idea of a point system can be used for these tour trophies, leading then onto the championships.
we just have to first accept that change is inevitable and then work with it..
