General Discussion / Re: Cabinet approves new postal code proposal

Thanks g
it also seems there would be need to name or re-name some of the streets. There are also a lot of people who do not get mail delivered- they are addressed at the nearest postal office- does this also mean they will have to get an address but still not get mail?
maybe soon we will get some actual information on how this idea will be implemented, and if members of the public will be allowed to comment or make suggestions

ok I guess my english is not as good as I thought- here goes again
how will this postal code help Police/Fire/ ambulance etc. to find one's location? Will the numbering system need to be memorized to give out to these emergency services? will it be universal to an area? like POS south or Mt. Lambert? What about if you are not the resident and notifying of a fire in the district? will each person have to know the postal code of an area even if they do not reside there? Will a listing of the codes be readily available for instance - in the phone book?
these are just questions of how the codes are to be practically applied. This is not a blanket criticism of this govt- this jumping down my throat just because I have the 'gall' to ask a question is not right. As far as I know no details have been made known. Isn't it important for us to know how the system will work? Every country has a different system of numbering and coding.
If you have an answer just provide it. no need for these personal attacks. peace.

can't see how a postal code will help fire service, ambulance or police- will we have to say"fire in the PC269?" or something like that? sounds like make work - is there any evidence that mail gets lost? not delivered because of unclear addresses? maybe it's just so have barcodes- so machine readable- so less human input?

I know I am no expert like e-man and the others but could it be that your flash software may need updating? I have the experience that when there is a new version you will get a problem to read cds and dvds...
maybe worth a try? ;D

Cricket Anyone / Re: Who Schedule this tour?
« on: December 22, 2009, 12:45:09 PM »
not only when the team is fielding do they need a captain. when you are the batting team there is just as much need for good strategy- for instance when the new ball is on and the pitch is making the ball turn the captain needs to know which batsman can handle the pitch and arrange his team to suit- there may be need to change the line up to adjust for such conditions- also there is the question of left-hand, right-hand partnerships, senior-junior etc. there is a lot to think about for a captain
and folks- that's why gayle thinks its too much work
there just are not enough grey cells available to do all that thinking

Cricket Anyone / Re: Love him or not, Gayle is pure Fyah! LoL
« on: December 18, 2009, 05:39:52 AM »
well I am not advocating that Gayle be dropped- just that he not be captain..
for instance in today's fielding innings- who was making the field placings? I heard the commentators themselves noticing that it was Bravo leading the fielders into position- and egging on the bowlers and encouraging everybody- what was Gayle doing? the few times I spied him on camera he was looking around- fidgeting..
I am sorry- but maybe the reason the players like Gayle is that as he has said on more than 1 occasion ' I don't believe in curfew and such harsh things'
 ;D

flash in the pan...Gayle again is playing for himself- did he at any time talk to Dowlin while they were in the crease, letting him know the strategy- building up his strokes-
and of course he makes the hundred and proceeds to pat the bat at bait- boom out!
ah well- guess I am one of those never satisfied, eh? ;D
silly me for wanting my captain to actually be one. ::)
oh right, by the way-well done Gayle!  :applause:

Cricket Anyone / Re: Pride comes after a fall
« on: December 09, 2009, 07:29:00 AM »
I did notice some differences in the way the team was used in the second match...for instance Gayle was rotating the bowlers...yeah ...and he was more than the last time taking some interest in the field placings- being more aggressive instead of defensive - leading to some good catches in different positions...yeah
could it be that he is actually listening to the 'big bird'? that would be a move in the right direction
all we can do is hope it continues ;D

Football / Re: Genethics donate balms to school football teams

the donation would be to the schools and not to the individual children- that means there are now these items in the First Aid kits- under the control of the games teacher

I may be wrong but I think they are trying to make the distinction between Trinidad - for business travel and

General Discussion / Re: Would you stay if he cheated?
« on: December 07, 2009, 02:40:15 PM »
I have heard every argument there could possibly be to justify why a man could and should accept sex from anybody who offers- but really! the only reason for the debate is that there is a man being unfaithful. If the unfaithful partner was the woman the argument would have stopped early on with - 'he have every right to beat her'
well- actually I was faced with that very choice during my marriage- and the questions were the same- stay or go- if you stay what would your life be like? if you go how do you survive as a single mother?
well survival is no easy task- but sleeping at night without wondering where your wandering man is a pleasure beyond measure...and actually not having to deal with those 'good friends' that enable the waywardness is another relief- pretending that there is nothing wrong is very stressful- and definitely not worth it.
the only real question then is- do you think your man is good enough to have only half of him? do your children need half a father? or is none just as good? that depends on his actual record while he is in the marriage..

thought this was a forum for trinis..so many 'we' talking about USA team beating people.. ???
if you live in the US and born trinbagonian- are you a trini or american?
as far as I know 'we' don't have a team in the world cup..

lose - mankind are getting enough money and perks to keep them quiet- only in opposition is there democracy

the closing score of 336 is not a bad one, considering...of course 6 wickets down is a lot, but hopefully when we resume Sammy and Nash will keep their wits and continue batting and occupying the crease.
how much did gayle make again? I heard somebody say he changed his name to Chris Fayle
sorry can't resist the ponging...

General Discussion / Re: Kamla not ruling out her chances vs Panday
« on: December 03, 2009, 11:42:12 AM »
let me stick my toe in and jump in this talk - I think Kamla needs to ask herself the question- what exactly will I lose if I go up against Panday? right now she has very little status in the party- Panday looks like he is only listening to Vasant and he is sidelining Kamla yet again!
In my opinion she is getting nowhere in this party...
However, she is only recently a breast cancer victim, and maybe she wants to take it easy for the time being..
we really don't know because she is holding all her cards close to her chest
I believe that win or lose Kamla needs to jump into the contest and let the people have their say...
too many people watching Panday and afraid to take a stand- what can he do to them? so what if he puts them into political limbo? where do they think they are right now? not limbo? well then..make a move- do something positive.. even if the results are not what you want- at least some people will know where they stand :-\

Actually I think what we need is more not less of the Test length cricket. We need match practice. Nobody will take a young footballer who can just kick a ball against a wall to play a full game. Same way we shouldn't expect these players who are accustomed to playing in 20/20 and 50 overs games to just be able to play for 4-5 days...it's difficult to make the adjustment and they must be trained...mentally and physically.
When you see these 20 and 23 year olds lagging on the field and ready to go home- shoulders dropping and feet dragging- you want to tell them just go -leave the field and keep walking....
even Gayle (well, I mean especially him, being captain and all) man just standing there in the field- no interest in the game at all...sorry getting off the track
anyway- the necessity now is for this team to remember why they are there- re-kindle the passion and the why they want to play- somebody needs to take them by the scruff of the neck and wake them up...there must be a team psychologist or even the team manager must play their part...time for the team to start to behave like adults..
we- the supporters deserve no less

apparently WI won that match. last night SA played the Lankans ...you hear that? back to back games..
unfortunately don't know who won last night.
these games are maybe a tourism thing- you know to get visitors in..
anyway I think so far they are great entertainment
