Football / Re: T&T U21 to play US U17
« on: February 08, 2006, 10:17:05 AM »
A slap in the face? If the MLS teams can play against the US u17 team in their training camp, why can't we? Also, the US does not have a u21 team, they have a u20 team that is made of mostly professional players who for the most part play in MLS. Those US u20 players are either training or in the middle of the season with their club teams . That is why we have no game against the US u21 or u20 teams. It's amazing that nobody questioned when our senior players played against a second tier college team and a fete side of Honduran nationals in Miami. This is a training camp and for the first time EVER our youth national team will play two MLS sides. Some of us are acting really cowardly regarding this u17 thing. Grow some flikken stones nah. Steups.

Yes he is Quavas' brother. Randi Patterson is also another good US-based addition. He just missed making the US u20 team for the worl champiohnships. The US u17 game may include some of their u-20 players as well.

Coops. The next coach doesn't have to be from T&T. There are several more qualified candidates from T&T some based in the US and Canada who have succesfully coached competitive football. Anton has not won anything. Why should he be given any of our national teams to cut he teeth. Let him get tested in the PFL.

Your last points are well taken also but what you are advocating is a COACH that can identify and develop talent good enough for the world stage. I think Lincoln's involvement at this point shows he is very aware of the shortcomings facing T&T football and even more important the adaquete solutions. I really don't think he gets enough credit for recognizing that a Dutch coach, and not just any Dutch coach, was the right pick for our warriors. He comes and does this u21 camp which is the first time anyone has ever done such an project and he still succeeds inspire the great deal of interference. So my question is why can't you envision Lincoln with his credibility, proven ability to implement programs and get funding, as well as his knowledge and experience continuing his successful run with a group of top notch COACHES. We can't hand over all technical matters for our entire national program to outsiders. There can be a Dutch or French or even Brazilian influence, but it should be guided by a Trinbogonian. I'm as grateful as anyone else for Beenie's contribution but I don't advocate the colonization of T&T football. So, in our euphoria let's not go overboard and sellout we own. That breds is the true truth. respect.

Guapo, Yuh first mistake is to put Lincoln and Anton in the same class. Lincoln been involve with the int'l game with the US fuh years. What has Anton done? Has he won anything? Second, yes yuh opinion is yuh right but oh gosh know what ya talkin 'bout nah. The TD is the best ting to happen to T&T football. You think the wc qualification an Lincoln coming back a coincidence? He bring beenie when jack was looking at atkinson and other english coaches. For the first time, we have a plan in place for our younger teams. He gettin more money for the women and spent the last year licensing coaches so our youth will be exposed to up to date training. What Lincoln needs is a staff of young, energetic, coaches who not only knowledgable about the int'l game but won't undercut him. Imagine, de only thing you reading in the paper is Anton do a good job wit the u21 camp! Every one knows Lincoln put dat whole thing together yet not one mention when beenie back in town. But Lincoln is not only a technical expert, he also have a great deal of credibility and dat is in short supply these days around the TTFF. He's a bridge builder. Imagine, he get millions from PNM for youth development in spite of Jack. And all the players respect him. Ask men like Shaka, Stern, and Dwight.  Nah man, yuh mus be mad. Beenie good but he aint qualify by heself.

Very interesting. I feel there will be more players like Mr. Bisewar who will be introduced within the next two months. To help along his dilemma of choosing T&T or Holland, we can't overlook the significance of Dwight Yorke's success on the highest level. People can point to Yorke's success at Man U as well as Latapy's success with Porto if the talk in Holland comes up that T&T is an insignificant football country. If these fellas (Shakes, Bisewar, etc) come through, it will also help our Olympic and 2010 teams.

Yes, its his son. I think the website was created up here to jus deal with the training camp.

If Zamora, Samuel, and whoever else are eligible to play, we must name them to the squad; at least look at them in training camp. It's too bad that FIFA took away one of the play dates.  Leo will have some tough roster decisions to make at the last minute with so many "new" players to look at from now until May.

Before we do we business on the field, we gotta be ready for some well placed distractions, especially if we do well in our warm ups. Remember the article that English newspaper do on the 98 Jamaican Team on how the English based players living much better than some of the Jamaican based players. That article nearly mash up the Jamaicans before the world cup. Now that we have drawn England be prepared for some real pressure from the british press who are very good at divide and conquer.

Players like Jlloyd and Zamora become even more valuable to T&T 'cause they have 'ting to prove. Like an earlier post said, "the world cup is not a testimonial match".

3 mil US per year not bad at all for a first-time WC qualifier. Hopefully de deal includes all national teams and we get some serious promotion from adidas' end. Maybe we even get a shoe. How does an update of the "samba" an turn it into the "soca" sound? :rotfl:

Let all who say T&T easy continue to think so. That's what they said about Cameroon in '82 and Senegal in '02. I do, though, want to avoid Holland and Czech like de plague.

The TD is conducting a FIFA course in Barbados. I hear he was part of the original delegation to the final draw but backed out 'cause he didn't want to disappoint folks in b'dos.
