Football / Re: Why Stern John is a MUST STARTER for T&T
« on: May 26, 2006, 03:37:51 PM »
Arazi, what is the 'hype' that to many T&Tians does get caught up in ? Look ah don't think anybody disputing Stern's ability.

Allow me a question ?

Which Stern would ppl select for this Team...Stern John '96 or Stern John'05 ?
d hype i was talking is bout is dat rel ppl after the peru game bawl oh how kenwenye shud be starting he's the real striker throw way stern john... and was hearind this start glen or jones over john from long time, da's d hype iwas talking bout...

anyway you look at it, STERN JOHN IS OUR BEST STRIKER, YES HE IS!!! ook at stern club season this year, Kenweyne Jones is one d first name to call buh he play more games dan stern this season and scored less dan stern, less danm half, he is an incomplete striker... Stern has the true striker instinct in the end of the days he is still the striker who will pulla goal out he ass, even tho he does throw way...LOOK AT THE GOAL HE SCORE AGAINST PANAMA IN D STADIUM, WHICH ONE OF OUR OTHER STIKERS WAS GOING TO SCORE A GOAL LIKE DAT, IT WASN'T PRETTY, BUT IT WAS A TRUE STRIKERS GOAL AND IT WASN'T THE EASIEST GOAL TO SCORE, throughout his career, i have seen Stern score goals dat looked improbable and none of our pother strikers have yet to show me dat they can do dat as yet.... this is probably what beenhakker has seen in training  and called him a class player, yes he can be a frustrating player buh he is more effective, too many trinidadians does get caught up in d hype, glen, jones arew exciting but do they deliver???  knewenyne jones has 2 goals in 25 games ppl and glen's record isn't special either, the only striker truly capable of taking stern place is scotland and half of allyuh not even checking for him...

buh the thing is even if the seeding system is flawed, what difference does it make SOMEONE IS GONNA END UP IN A TOUGH GROUP, ARGENTINA, ENGLAND AND ITALY ARE SEEDED ARE THEY HAVE TOUGH GROUPS... he's just being a crybaby....he saw dat USA might actually catch dey arse and wished he was in Mexico group...

i eh know buh i find crouch have touches and he was one of england better players 2day, he's not the deadliest finish buh his passing  and control are quite sond and he haves some tricks for a tall man dat will throw off defences...he's d taype of striker who creates more plays dan ppl realise, underestimate him at your peril....

somehow i doh remember lennon being in england's world cup side, if he is he cud be dangrous buh he rel not gonna break into dat already tbest midfield endgalnd have, avery needs to worry about joe cole...

577
it's possible, i didn't pay attention to evrything he said, it was actaually a spanish interview with max bretos and some other doing voice over interpreting...

578

Nah their coach seems to have a measure of respect for us. I remember another member saying he saw an interview with the coach and he was sounding kinna nervous when he talked about not being able to find out much about the TnT team. He said that he spoke to some Mexican coaching friends of his and the things he got were that we could be a very dangerous team especially on the counter-attack and that we play with South American flair (or somthing like that) but with a European heart. Their coach seems to be professional and knows that it's never wise to under-estimate any opponent.
i like the sound of this, it's makes sense, trinidadians play a naturallly skillful game not dissimilar to the south americans buh with so many european based players we have a european finish...

579
I was watching a show on fox sports and dey was talking to a Paraguay coach and he say dat Paraguay will basically be up against 3 european teams bcuz Beenhakker will have T&T playing like Holland. Do you agree with this? I do think they have a point...

Football / Re: The USA comming outa their group!
« on: May 24, 2006, 01:04:02 PM »
I want to see all the USA haters when FIFA explains in 2008/2009 that CONCACAF going to have only 3 (or even 2 and a half depending on how Costa Rica functions) spots...
hoss, the US plalced dead last in the 98 world cup, jamaica took 5 from argentina and we did not lose a spot... asia damn lucky dey still have 4.5 spots considering the thrashing the saudis had and apart from the south korea the near non-existetn tournament they had..
the truth is only teams from south america and europe have won the world cup, what makes asia a stronger zone than concacaf or caf for that matter???
u really think that japan and south korea are going to become world powers, they'll be more like a denmark or belgium or sumtin a decent side world powers hardly...australia in d same catergory...
it's not practicla to take away a spot from us cuz it woud make it less of a world cup, u really think d amount of buzz a team like trinidad generates would not be noticed by fifa???
i eh worried bout costa rica dey cud make it out they group and already i find dey a better team dan the U.S. in concacaf, guatemala, honduras and panama are also coming up so concacaf has enough teams to whole it's own...

NOW THE NEXT TING THE US IS IN A TOUGH GROUP JUST LIKE T&T, IN FACT IT'S ARGUABLY THE HARDEST GROUP IN THE TOURNAMENT , so it would be a bit unfair for them to penalise the US for not doing well in this tourney...

I DON'T LIKE THE US AND AS MUCH AS I WANNA SEE CONCACAF HAVE MORE SPOTS, WE HAVE TO START AT HOME, WE ARE A BETTER CONFEDERATION DAN MOST EXCEPT WE SPOIL THE US BY LETTING DEM PLAY EVERY GOLD CUP AT HOME WITH A FLICKING GUEST TEAM WHEN WE COULD HAVE A FULL 16 TEAM TOURNAMENT WITH ALL THE MEMBERS WE HAVE....

« on: May 23, 2006, 07:01:44 AM »
oh my goodness he eh score in four games, smh, all i have 2 say is last year was d first time stern went five matches without scoring in d red wjite and black, and btw, dwight yorke hadn't score for trinidad in five years b4 the iceland game and din't core at all in hex of the 2020 world cup i guess we shoullda drop him den 2, kenweyne score twice in 25 appearances, yeh boy let we start him ::)

Football / Re: The USA comming outa their group!
« on: May 21, 2006, 09:58:13 PM »
I do not think the us have more passion than us, football is arguably the most popular sport in our country with only cricket challenging it, however we trinidadians have always had a problem supporting our own in all fields, music and sports especially... however, the main reason the pro league is not as supported as the mls is  the fact that not many ppl can connect to teams in the pro league... a intercol game draws a bigger crowd dan most pro league games, ever wonder why?
also the markting for the mls is much better than the pro league so more ppl in d states know about mls games, and d nex ting is dat the majority of ppl in d stadium for d mls games is a set of immigrants who come form countries where football is dey favourite sport, ah lie???

CONCACAF OR NOT I BELIEVE IT WILL BE A TRAGEDY TO SEE ITALY OR THE CZECH REPUBLIC GO OUT OF D WORLD CUP AT THE EXPENSE OF D US!!!

I rather see Costa Rica and Mexico and We ( of course) make runs in d world cup ( especially us and costa rica ) dan the US, they do not deserve to be in the top 10 of the world and their attitude to the sport is atrocious in the most part... on an american site dey fightin down men for posting a champion's league final thread as football ( the thought it was nfl  ::) )and saying soccer is fuh bullas and shit...

i don't think if dey fail to make it out of a group such as that (italy Czech and Ghana) fifa could really say dat concacaf not worthy of a 4th sport, especially if the other concacaf teams put on a good show..

yeh i see this and was like.... he really understand d amount of shit talk he talk dey, our prep for d world cup hasn't been considering we are gooing to our first tourney and actually starting training as team b4 most of the establisked nations... it have 2 much ignorance in this country, the only country i cud see preparing for world cup for 20 years is d US and germany, everybody else just have better youth systems dan us da's it....

586
Doh forget that team get mauled in Mexico
meaning what? this squad took 5 in guatemala, with a full strength squad and did not play in d flicking azteca at altitude.. latas, stern, yorke and many first team players did not play in dat 7-0 thrashing.

587
yeh eman, yuh rel save mih life dey this was d first champions league final i fully enjoy since 99 and i only get to enjoy live (well partly) cuz of u jed, much vibes, even tho it rel stick sevond half and i miss both barca goals buh da wasn't your fault...

i doh what wrong with alyuh trinis, alyuhdone cutting down men with alyuh, i being realistic, the championship??/ c'mon, let we at least try to establish we players in a solid league, and as far as i'm concerned england is not the best league for our players to get better... if ronaldinho had gone to england from brazi he would not be the player he is 2day, how many teams in england really accomadate techinical players with flair like our own, we should push or players to go the spain, france and portugal... latapy is d player he is bcuz of all the years he spent in portugal, yorke seeming lost his ability to run at defeders after all those years in england...

pesonally, i want both of dem dey, buh i would not be 2 disappointed if wise does not make it cuz i believe in collin samuel, buh if wise dey i'd feel more reassured if samuel get injured or sumtin during d tourney... cornell glen is d ideal man to start up front wid stern  in my opinion...glenn>>>jones imo, i wah join dat glen for goals commitee, he has better striking brain dan jones and he isn't to shabby a passer either and could actually provide cover on d left wing 2.. i really figga is wolfe shud get d cut, buh i like he 2.. tough choice...

this was the core of the team dat at one point was ranked 25th in the world, and i really wonder how well dey would have done had they qualifed, i still think they're a better team than our current side. Our current stars aurtis, carlos, spann were on d bsidelines for this squad... yorke, stern, latas and dwarika were younger and sharper and probably at the peak of their careers, how do you think this team matches up to the present squad, better, worse or indifferent?

is so long Stern purging ... jeez boy

hard to believe eh...............BUT!!
fus alyuh ungrateful eh, stern was our leading scorer in our campaign for 2002 ( even with a man u based dwight, damn haters) as he was in 2006.. smh... nixon was in the 2002 team buh hardly played due to injury and d fact dat stern and dwight were the preferred stirke force. ansil ellcock was more solid on the left than avery john... reynold carrington was VERY EFFECTIVE as a defensive midfielder... the only weak part of this team was the left midfield which was occupied by stokely mason for the most part, this team was so strong dat usually dwarika would still have to come off the bench, i remember when we dismantled canada 4-0 in the semis none of our strikers scored, it was the midfied four, carrington, latas, mason and eve... we started to lose after we take 7 in the azteca, portefield was a better coach dan most realised and the turning point was when yorke fell out with rene simoes b4 the honduras game, at that poin we had one point after three games tho notably 2 of those games were away from home, then we just capitulated...
on another forum a dude ask when was the last time we went undefeated for such a long stretch of games which stands currently at six, it was this side prior to the 2000 gold cup with an undefeated streak of nine ( including a 4-3 win over colombia btw, stern scored a hattrick in this game) under bertile st. clair... just a fact for d trivia heads..

Cisse make de french squad in front of Giuly? NAH!!

Dudek is one of my biggest suprises.
Liverpool just trying to hold a good player down. If he went to Arsenal he would be as good as Anelka was.

Giuly is a migit. He lucky to reach so far.
u mad?/ giuly shud be on dat french squad, pires 2....

i eh go lie, when i first heard d side, i was satisfied, den i realised who was left out, ZANETTI??? HOW PEKERMAN??? ZANETTI IS D BOSS, he has more heart dan most of players on this squad, samuel is a solid defender.... what about D'allesandro??? Demichelis of Bayern Munich??? Rosalles of Ajax, even Diego Milito????are dese players not more worthy of place dan Scaloni??? Pekerman pick Palacio, and i am yet to see how he is one of d brightest stars of the argentine league....

Football / Re: D most distasteful riddim section
« on: May 12, 2006, 09:21:23 AM »
I have to defend the Queen's Royal College Scout Band (ah type de entire name to show respect).I know everyone will agree with me that QRC Riddim Section is de best in Secondary School's football, now and always.A man even make a classic kaiso about it. De song went "Every year in October, a day yuh always remember girls and boys will be singing..." Allyuh know de rest.In addition after all we give the Nation, "TNT we want ah goal!" adapted from" QRC we want ah goal!" . So if only for that reason QRC riddim section deserved to be represented at de Stadium, it was a historic moment....Disgruntled give de youth men a chance nah...they are we future.

sadly i must agree with disgruntled, the future of qrc scout band is in woeful hands, last year the scout band did not play at any one of the teams games, this current scout band is easily the worst scout band we have ever produced, however QRC is the best riddum section, i remember a dude coming to me saying how he went a qrc/cic derby d other year for d first time (he from d east and had tranfer to cic) and h wase blown away by the qrc riddum section, hell we force anthony's to hire a band d tear we and dem was going neck and neck for north zone in '03...yes i went QRC left last year..

well brodda
if them fellas is we future then our future bleek
cause them fellas is the WORSE

Well done Touches!!

ah love it!!

i now reach home from work last night, pressure!!

Mr. Disgruntled Trini, yuh right about Stern, he should be on de bench!!

Kenwyne play de kinda game that should make him a starter!!

We looked so much better when samuel and jones were on the field!!

ah love it!!

i think we should be playing 4-4-2

alyuh trinis funny eh, other than score d freekick what did kenwayne jones do, miss a sitter and run in spaces which in most cases were not dangerous and he never really eluded his marker, is he exciting yes, is he better opinoon for stiker than stern no!!!! he is stil incomplete, alyuh does get 2 caught up in d flam, beenehakker tried out stuff yday off course the team was not going to play at it's beat is a warm up game not crucia group stage match, shit man...
buh we really need 2 be playing 2 strikers, it's gonna be very easy for england and sweden to mark stern or anyone out of  d game with one up front...

Football / Re: Match Reports - T&T vs. Peru
« on: May 11, 2006, 07:41:32 AM »
Arazi match report

i eh sure if i watch d same game as alyuh, i seeing men say sancho cause d goal, cyd gray play good watever, here's my take...

game start brightly, stern and latas link up, latas blaze wide in the first minute, i's ike way we starting early buh den we revert peru start to play and start attacking , a couple times getting behind or defence but d final ball was usually  off, so we defence recover... den i see a peru forward get behind or defence, sancho jus barely recover to force d man take a slighly earlish shot which jack handled easily...
den it had latas freekick, we throwaway a couplle times from corners den d goal...
now i saw this play perfectly as it was in the part of field cosest to where i sat.. i called how d play was gonna go...
wel lose d bal and a aerial ball end up on d left fank touchline, the peruvian approaches d ball, SANCHO goes to encounter him, SANCHO reads d play well as the peruvian tries to flick it over him for d cap buh  SANCHO done aready turn back round and was gonna to beat dat man 2 ball, and clear it, DEN OUT OF NOWHERE CYD GRAY runs in and puts a challenging header against SANCHO...  the peruvian emerges with ball, jack comes out but can do litte as the peruvian puts in a corss into the six yard and his teammate taps it home... 1-0

I eh know bout alyuh buh I figga is best beenie tell cyd gray NOT TO HEADER cuz is usually a recipe for disaster....
not too long b4 a harmless cross came in and he went to header d ball and nearly give way a corner as d bal skim off he head as if he forget he went by Wesley's( or watever barbershop he's go)  d day b4 or sumtin, i rel sorry most of d shit i saw in d defence was done by him i rel sorry, i thought he had turn d corner 2, i really want to beieve it buh nah... he regress in this game...
Aurtis den tear some men and unleash a bullet force a big save from peru keeper it look damn good, aurtis rel tear up men this game 2, i see he hit men rolie polie and ting, i figga Real might want as Zizou retire ;D
Latas come off and my boy, ( and i have d right to say cuz i was saying he d left flank man since he with jabloteh) Colin samuel come on... lataz make d  lap of  honor, me and meh bredrin hold up a makeshift banner i make saying "PELE ERA REY, QUIZAS MARADONA FUERA DIOS BUH LATAS IS D BOSS!!!" which translates " Pele was king, maybe Maradona is god and well u know what d rest mean"

first half done.. we had more possession buh aot of  uninspiring possession 2, the midfield look sllightly unimaginative, we reallly was breaking down peru defence. i find carlos play like he had d night off, even tho he had do a couplle good things now and den, stern had throw way, birchall was rel quiet apart from d shot and few interpasses with yorke and carlos, latyapy had put on show buh his speed or rather lack of was amjor factor, aurtis was our player of d half..

2nd half, carlos off, birchall off, spann, theobald on
Colin samuel start lil suspect den start to pick it up, i see avaery start coming forward as he realize dat samuel have d speed to recover for him as opposed to latas... samuel start looking dangerous, blow past some defeders draw d keeper and try to put it past him and it get save, when possiby he could of square for stern or sumtin, maybe..
yorke hit d post from a header from a corner den header wide...
spann was finding space on right but only put in one rel best cross dat beat every body across d face of goal, man satrt to cristise stern ( as per usual) saying dat was d perfect ball and he shoulda get 2 dat
den stern satrt to rel get out of d game, a man start d 2 curse stern john and i was llike why wha he do? and dman bawl nothing! and he wqas right i eh think stern do anything at all in d second half, i eh go lie he marker was on him as he was d best ting he dance when ram ram playing, buh he coulda drop to get d ball in dta case switch up with yorke... ah mena  do something... buh i jus wished he would score to shot the resurfacing haters up... buh beenie take him off and man start to get excited kenwayne jones come on. and not too long after jason scotland.. it was about time i realised we were going to score, not because jones, more cause of scotland and as it turned out i was sorta right...
now jones was a marked difference from stern, he was all of running up, running down, buh he rarely go d ball in center when making these runs which took away from his efficiency.
i liked thoebad's play he was making some incivisive passes, played a couple realeased through balls and often found players in space (usually spann) the only shortcoming was he didn't try to realease jones when he was making some of his runs buh we cud work on dat...
scotland was less flair dan jones but was solid and it was foul on him on d edge of d area dat jones scored from... just b4 dat theobald put him through but his first touch put d bal at a tough ange for him to score and he hit over and wide...
the goal now...
i see d freekick, buh i rel didn't see goal coming from it, hell i didn't know who was gonna take it, i see whitley and jones by d ball den i see aurtis give jones ah arite hoss look, u bigup, and was liek this going overbar and den blaow!!! low bullet and goal...
men start to hail jones, yeh d future da's why stern shouldn't be playing... den kenwayne jones missed a sitter which stern would have scored  ( here's why, check history stern john rearly misses in late stages of games, it was d 80+, he woullda buss net) buh is kenwayne so nobody bisness... kenwayne eh even scre a strikers goal buh he better dan stern...

sancho came off, i see beenie give a five, i figga beenie like me feel he had a good game cuz he did
cox came on and didn't look comfortable, but he didn't have 2 much 2 do so eh go rate him...

final whistle 1-1
not too good not too bad.. T&T gewts a 6
jack - solid game , ball dstribution was better - 7
avery john - quite game really, only pushed forward in second half, was a bit out of sync wih samuel sometimes but generally solid 7
tallest - look a lil shaky at times but not a bad outing - 6
sancho - had a good game, showed up a little for speed by the peruvian attackers but his recovery is usually good - 7.5
cyd gray  :( rel let me down 2night, cause d damn goal... - 4 (generous)
birchall - very quiet game, not much done - 5
yorke - ackluster gmae by his standards did not stamp his name in this game at all - 6
whitley - a good game, he was very entertaining, like he take way from carlos quota for this game, faded a bit in second half - 7
carlos - disappointed game, showed slight flashes of class buh was truly an underpar performance - 5
latapy - still wily but too slow, he too put on a show, buh his speed took away from his overall effectiveness  - 7
john - not a good game stern, he really needs to start dropping for the ball when he's marked like this and start using his underused and underrated passing game more.. - 5
jones - exciting but still not the full product missed a sitter and other than the freekick did not have a sniff at goal, he's not there yet trinidad - 7
samuel - the boss on left wing, just needs to work on his crossing - 8
theobald - i'd love to see him sit behind stern and glen in a game and see what would happen, his ball distribution was exquiste this game - 7.5
spann - got into good postions but his final ball often left to be desired - 6.5
scotlland - didn't look 2 bad, was not as invovled in the game as much he probaby shud have but i think he's better stike option dan jones at the moment especially if samuel is playing...

600
touches, yuh match report was decent there, BUH D GOAL WAS NOT A MISTAKE BY SANCHO, IT WAS CYD GRAY WHO RUN IN LIKE A MADMAN AND BUTT WAY D BALL FROM SANCHO WHEN HE CLEARLY WAS GONNA WIN D BALL LEAVING SANCHO AND JACK COMPLETELY HELPLESS.... i eh go lie tho Stern john rel was out of this game, Carlos rel didn't play dat good either... AND CYD GRAY WAS REL SUSPECT THIS GAME HE SHUD GO BACK TO WEARING #24 CUZ HE REL BALLZ DOWN IN DA #8.....
