Alvin Corneal is de most consisitent player in doing dat,dat I know about.St Mary's had a captain in de '70's call Douglas he use to do dat too.He even use to curl ball on grass around  wall from free kicks for goal.
If I'm not mistaken the corners used to be taken by Lake and Williams back in those days when Peppers was captain.

Allyuh have to understand that a lot of these American sport writers doh have a clue about the game. If the writer had any sense he'd be able to write about the psychological damage that the Erickssen scandal poses for the English team. I am now beginning to feel that we can take full points from the English because between now and June all those English reporters and fans will be calling for Erickssen's head  which in turn will unduly affect how the players feel about him.

What do you mean they don't have a right? Like I said FIFA is using the same standard to measure all the teams....by the way the program Lincoln Phillips is implementing is the same one the US has had in place for the last 15 years. They're a good team with a good coach....don't underestimate Bruce Arena. Some of you'll just not honest enough to admit that the US is good.

Allyuh? I is ah born and bred trini padnah...I jes keepin it real....the same criteria that is used to rank us is also used to rank the USA...the USA performs credibly in international competitions....I for one would always say TnT has better individual players but as a team the USA is better.........You don't need to have stars on your team to be a good team....look at Real Madrid all dem stars and they aren't the best team in the world.......don't let your dislike for the country cloud your opinion

After Abu Bakr, Jack has to be the second most dangerous man in TnT. I don't know who is advising him but obviously they don't know Trinis...the man is trying to mix politics and sports. Maybe he should try telling people how he ended up becoming a millionaire.

The mercy rule is actually used in kids baseball and should not be applied to the game of football. A simple thing like not keeping score after 7 goals achieves the same objective. This is in direct contradiction to the USSF who constantly reiterate that the game is the best teacher.

If I'm not mistaken Jennings also write a book called How they stole the game where he details the corruption within FIFA.

Touches I think we do have talent at home... lots of it raw natural talent..our players are likecane...if  you stick it in your cup your tea still wouldn't get sweet...the cane has to be processed first....we have players with great technical abilities...the problem is the game is 99% above the neck and we don't have coaches can develop that part of the game. Prime example is what Beenie has done with basically the same team BSC had.

2380
Talent without nuturing and development is just that...talent.. We have players with good talent but they have not been developed into great players.

I think you should have added another category called The Worse - The TTFF who are prepared to sit on their as**s and not do anything to properly prepare the team for the World Cup. It seems to be their thinking that mere qualification signifies automatic success. Quite a few of our players aren't getting serious playing time for their clubs and the TTFF need to find ways to get these guys quality games at the national level.

Socrates was a heavy smoker....
The German team reportedly took dozens of cases of beer and wine to the last world cup....
Personally I don't have a problem with drinking if done in moderation but I guess it's up to the individual and how it affects him or her

« on: December 22, 2005, 02:04:42 PM »
Vibetrini your argument is subjective.....there are a lot of women who know about the sport they're just not as vociferous as men tend to be (unless they name Barbara and Joyce...some ah allyuh know who ah mean). Besides how often do people go out to get a woman's opinion...how much press does the female game get?

I have a couple questions to ask Mr. Vidale...the first being what has he as a coach accomplished on an international level. The second, how many players has he developed who have played or are playing in the EPL, MLS, Serie A, La Liga or even the Bundesliga.
It's so typical of these fellas to see fault in everyone but themselves. he is one of the many reasons why TnT football stagnant.

Great defenders have the ability to read forwards as they develop their attack. They are patient and cunning and not afraid to put in a hard tackle just to send a message.

Dreamer you're right. This is why I'm hoping that the Brazil match could still come off..it would expose the most glaring and weakest part of our game....the defense..with their outside defenders who love to overlap ...we would be force to make adjustments quite a few months before. To me the only good defender we have is dog....Lawrence is suspect to me ..too many times he gets lost when forwards start to make those crossing runs and it's almost like he is a step behind in watching the opponent's attack develop.
When Jllyod come we'll only need 2 more.  :)

The most Beenhaker would probably take is 3 new guys anything else would disrupt the team chemistry. I'm sure if he were to get guys of the ilk of Zamora and Samuels his thinking would be that these guys can only raise the standard and create more competition for a place in the 1st eleven.

With all this negative stuff surrounding him he has to show that he is coachable and is a total team player.  Every thing he does from now on becomes magnified and if there are people like Shabazz around who are only looking for faults he has to rise above them.

Somebody must be pushing for Corneal.....if anyone looks at the U-20 team he had it would become obvious that he's incapable of coaching at a high level.

Just for a sec I'd like you'll to put yourself in Zamora's shoes. What would you'll have done????? Would it be easier for you to play for your father's country or your country of birth? Answer that then answer which country offers a better chance at success.
The fact is the man had two choices and we were second choice..can you blame him?
How does he rate amongst our other strikers? He brings quality to the team if he does come. He is a proven forward at the highest level.

Football / Re: Soccer College Scholarships
« on: December 13, 2005, 09:24:48 AM »
Actually I would suggest that people interested in colleges make videotapes of themselves first, try to get as many games as possible on tape. Create a football resume with references. Playing for a college/university is also pretty much dependent on both your academic and athletic prowess. If you're a good player schools will come a calling. If you have good grades and are a decent player you will get chances but understand what kind of scholarships are availbe to you. Coaches will lie to you. They may offer a scholarship for full tuition but room and board isn't included. Know the NCAA rules too.....they change from year to year.

Football / July 10th 2006
« on: December 10, 2005, 09:58:47 PM »
While we are basking and revelling in our fortunes at having made WC 2006 it seems that little thought is being placed as to what happens comes July 10th, 2006. Beenie has indicated that he won't be around after the world cup. Jack Warner has said that he has acheived his goal. The TTFA has made littleheadway into revamping football at home. The only thing they have done is to appoint Anton Corneal Asst. Coach.
Is this indicative of the direction that TnT's football is headed? Is Mr. Corneal being groomed to take over from Mr. Beenhaaker? If he does take over the senior team does he have the competency to coach at that level? After all look how poorly the youth teams he commanded have done.
It seems as if the old boy network that has held TnT's football in the doldrums for all these years is once again rearing its head.
Wha allyuh think?

How many of you guys are going to make New Year's resolutions? How many of you are going to follow through? It's the same thing with Hardest...does he have that mental discipline and focus that is required to take him to the next level. He might have great skill and fundamentals but the game is 99% above the neck.
