A Trini walks into a bar in Miami, orders three Caribs and sits in
the back of the room, drinking a sip out of each one in turn. When he
finishes them, he comes back to the bar and orders three more.

The bartender approaches and tells him, "You know, a beer goes flat after I draw it; it would taste better if you bought one at a time."

The Trini replies, "Well, you see, I have two bredders. One in Toronto, the other in London, and I here in Miami. When we all left home, we promised that we go drink this way to remember the days when we drank in St James. So I drinks one for each ah meh bredders and one for meh self."

The bartender admits that this is a nice Trini custom, and leaves it there. The Trini becomes a regular in the bar, and always drinks the same way: He orders three pints and drinks them in turn.

One day, he comes in and orders two pints. All the other regulars take notice and fall silent. When he comes back to the bar for the second round, the bartender says, "I don't want to intrude on your grief, but I wanted to offer my condolences on your great
loss."

Trini looks confused for a moment, then a light dawns in his eye and he laughs. "Oh, no. Everyone's fine," He explains, "It's just that I joined Seven Days Adventists Church, so I had to stop drinking."

Football / Inter Milan clinch Serie A title
« on: April 22, 2007, 01:07:29 PM »
Forza Inter!![/b]  8)

Inter Milan beat Siena 2-1 on Sunday to retain their Serie A title.

The victory, along with a 2-1 loss for second-placed AS Roma at Atalanta, gives Inter an unassailable 16-point lead with five games remaining.

Defender Marco Materazzi scored both goals to clinch the victory and a 15th championship for Inter.

"The emotion is immense," said coach Roberto Mancini, who has renewed his contract until 2011 with an option for a further year.

"The team have had an extraordinary championship. It is extraordinary to win five games from the end with a lead of 16 points," he added.

"The team showed great character. I'm happy for all Inter fans."

Inter went into the game on the back of just two points from their last three matches and suffered their first league defeat of the season against Roma on Wednesday.

By winning the title with five games to spare, they match the record set by Torino in the 1947/48 season and equalled by Fiorentina in 1955/56.

Last year Inter were awarded the scudetto in July after Juventus were stripped of the title following the country's match-fixing scandal.

Cricket Anyone / Bajans to ease restrictions on spectators

About time someone saw sense...

Bajans to ease restrictions on spectators
Source: Trinidad Guardian

Stung by criticism that the World Cup has been robbed of most of its Caribbean flavour by strict regulations, the local organising committee (LOC) in Barbados have hit back by announcing that restrictions would be eased at the Kensington Oval.

Stephen Alleyne, the CEO of the LOC told reporters that matches in Barbados would be closer to traditional “calypso cricket” than has been the case so far.

He said that measures were being put in place so that music and food could flow more freely. For example, he said people bringing musical instruments would get clearance at the gate on the day of the game, rather than having to get permission beforehand.

In a break with the official line, which has continued to insist the tournament is running smoothly, Alleyne admitted that things had not gone so well at other venues. He also said that some matches at the Oval were not sold out, mainly because sponsors had not taken up their allocations, and that spare tickets would be made available free of charge to local children. Furthermore, he hinted that ticket prices might be reduced “to encourage more folk in” although that would need to be cleared with the ICC.

“We need to ensure that the environment is such that everybody in there, whether Barbadian, West Indian or from further afield, can get the chance to experience what it is like to be at a Caribbean Test match, or in this case at a Kensington Test match, and we are working with CWC and the ICC as we speak to get that balance right,” he explained. “One of the things we are going to work to achieve is the bringing of musical instruments in–we’re going to simplify that process.

We’re looking at how you can bring things like foodstuff and so on into the Oval [while] making sure there’s clarity around those things.”

General Discussion / Halle Berry is set to go bald for new movie
« on: April 05, 2007, 04:15:20 PM »
Unfortunately, they mean her head  >:(

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Her beauty trumps many a starlet in youth-obsessed Hollywood but Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry, at age 40, is preparing to go where few top actresses would dare.

Berry is going bald.

The actress, whose roles include sexy secret agent Jinx in the James Bond flick "Die Another Day," is shaving her brunette locks for a new movie that could start shooting as soon as this summer, Berry told reporters late on Wednesday.

"I'm going to shave my head bald. I can't believe it," she said.

Berry will shed her hair for a romantic comedy which she said is currently titled "Nappily Ever After."

The star plays a woman whose hair is starting to fall out, so she decides to shave it all. Afterward, she must deal with people's perceptions of who she is and how her hair defined her.

Berry said her character "is forced to look at what beauty is, and it comes from inside."

"I still struggle with this hair issue," she said. "I'm going to get the lesson on film, and hopefully other women will get it, too."

Her plan is to shave her real hair on film and not fake it by wearing a cap. But it will be more than a year before moviegoers will see Berry go bald because a new draft of "Nappily Ever After" was only recently completed.

For now, Berry is starring in the thriller "Perfect Stranger," which debuts across the United States on April 13. She plays a news reporter caught up in a murder investigation.

The star, who won her Oscar for best actress playing a down-on-her-luck waitress in 2001's "Monster's Ball," said that at age 40, life is better than ever.

Twice-divorced Berry is now dating model Gabriel Aubry, who is 10 years her junior.

"I'm really happy. I'm in a really good space in my life, and I can honestly say it's not because of any one thing," she said. "It's not because I have a really cute boyfriend. It's not because of my career. It's because I feel good about me."

Berry said she feels more self-assured and confident with her sexuality now than when she was younger.

"As I've gotten older, I've become more comfortable with who I really am -- all parts of me -- knowing that my physical self doesn't diminish me in any way, or my talent," she said.

Nor, for that matter, does her hair.

Football / Scotland scores to take Saints into final four
« on: February 28, 2007, 04:15:26 PM »

Saints secure Well scalp

St Johnstone stunned Motherwell at Fir Park to secure their place in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.

Peter MacDonald and Jason Scotland put The Saints in control and while Well pulled one back through Ross McCormack, they were beaten by the better side on the night.

Motherwell had the first attempt on goal, although Brian Kerr's long-range shot was comfortable for St Johnstone keeper Kevin Cuthbert.

Cuthbert had to be on his guard on 13 minutes to gather Steve McGarry's well-placed header from Danny Murphy's testing cross.

However, the visitors had been playing well themselves and they took the lead though MacDonald's deft flick in front of goal.

Willie McLaren did well down the right and his cut-back was met by MacDonald in the middle who guided the ball over Graeme Smith in off the bar.

The visitors continued to create the better of the chances and Scotland should have done better with his free header in the box from Paul Sheerin's superb cross.

McCormack tried his luck from distance shortly after half-time, but his set-piece was never troubling Cuthbert.

St Johnstone confirmed their superiority on the night when Goran Stanic stood up a great ball in the middle for Scotland to head home in the middle.

However, Motherwell were not about to go down without a whimper and they set up a frantic finale when McCormack guided home Scott McDonald's ball into the box.

The visitors were desperately close to netting a third, but after substitute Andy Jackson rounded Smith, his effort was blocked on the line in the last action of the match.

Three months out for China star

Zheng Tao will be sidelined for at least three months after fracturing his jaw in the infamous brawl between the China Under 23 side and QPR reserves.

The defender, who was knocked unconscious in the fight, could only recall being targeted by a number of unidentified players.

"I was surrounded by about five players at that moment," Zheng was quoted as saying on Xinhua.

"One of them knocked me down from behind, and they began to kick me. I was kicked right on the jaw. I have no idea of who did that.

"Our team doctor told me I lost consciousness within five minutes, that's just too horrible.

"And now I have to rest for at least three months. That is in no doubt a catastrophic blow to me."

Zheng's compatriot Gao Lin, whose attack on a QPR player is reported to have sparked off the trouble, has returned to China with six other team players.

The Chinese Football Association told Sina.com that the brawl had nothing to do with the players ending their tour early, but the players' clubs had already requested the release of the players to help preparations for the new Chinese season.

It now appears certain China's tour of England will be cut short, with Tuesday's clash against Brentford already called off.

Man Utd capture Larsson on loan

BBC

Manchester United will sign veteran striker Henrik Larsson on a three-month loan deal in January.
The 35-year-old former Celtic striker will leave current club Helsingborg on 1 January and will return on 12 March in time for the Swedish season.

Larsson said: "United have been after me before, after the first or second season with Celtic.

"It feels good to come and play for such a big club. I may not start every match, but it feels like a fun thing."

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is short of options up front, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer injured and Alan Smith still seeking full fitness.

That leaves Wayne Rooney and Louis Saha as his only recognised strikers.

Ferguson said: "I have always admired Larsson. I made a move for him when he was at Celtic but then they managed to persuade him to stay.

"He is a great player. It is a terrific bit of business for us. We are bringing someone in who can change a game."

Larsson left Barcelona at the end of last season to join hometown club Helsingborg, helping them to a fourth-placed league finish and the Swedish Cup in his first season.

However, their normal season ended in November, leaving Larsson free to play for United.

"I know the players," said Larsson. "I have played against many of them, so it's not a new thing. I hope the situation will be easier, knowing the faces and names.

"I will go over there to play as much as possible - but I have no idea of how they want to use me.

"We will see how much playing time there will be. Am I a back-up? Yes, at the beginning.

"Then you will see what I can contribute and how things are going. We have not discussed a jersey number at all. We will see what it will be."

Larsson spent two years in Spain and played a decisive role in this year's Champions League final when he came on in the second half and set up both goals in the defeat of Arsenal.

The Swede joined Barca in 2004 following a hugely successful seven-year spell at Celtic, where he is widely hailed as one of the best players in the club's history.

He scored 242 goals in more than 300 appearances for the Scottish club.

Former Celtic boss Martin O'Neill was recently asked if he might be interested in signing Larsson for current club Aston Villa, but said he had not been in contact with the striker.

The pair will meet again on 13 January when United meet Villa at Old Trafford.

"Kramer's" Racist Tirade -- Caught on Tape

You can watch the censored video here - CNN.com has the uncensored version.

Michael Richards exploded in anger as he performed at a famous L.A. comedy club last Friday, hurling racial epithets that left the crowd gasping, and TMZ has obtained exclusive video of the ugly incident.

Richards, who played the wacky Cosmo Kramer on the hit TV show "Seinfeld," appeared onstage at the Laugh Factory in West Hollywood. Kyle Doss, an African-American, told TMZ he and some friends were in the cheap seats and he was playfully heckling Richards when suddenly, the comedian lost it.

The camera started rolling just as Richards began his attack, screaming at one of the men, "Fifty years ago we'd have you upside down with a f***ing fork up your ass."

Richards continued, "You can talk, you can talk, you're brave now motherf**ker. Throw his ass out. He's a nigger! He's a nigger! He's a nigger! A nigger, look, there's a nigger!"

The crowd is visibly and audibly confused and upset. Richards responds by saying, "They're going to arrest me for calling a black man a nigger."

One of the men who was the object of Richard's tirade was outraged, shouting back "That's un-f***ing called for, ain't necessary."

After the three-minute tirade, it appears the majority of the audience members got up and left in disgust.

Attempts to reach Richards' reps were unsuccessful.
