Football / Re: 2005 World Club Rankings..Madness!!!!

Did Inter win anything last year?

Inter won the Coppa Italia last season and the Italian Supercup at the beginning of this season.

More importantly (at least for a statstical list like this), they only lost 7 games between May 2004 and the end of 2005 in all competition (2 in serie a last season, 2 in the champs league and 3 in serie a so far this season).
Prior to their first defeat last season, against Milan in week 26 of the serie A season, they hadn't been beaten (in any competition) for more than 9 months.

Forza Inter!

Thus, the fact remains that the apocalypse is indeed a very pertinent one as it relates to Trinidad and Tobago. The real challenge for Trinidad and Tobago national football team coach, Leo Beenhakker, and his assistant, Anton Corneal, lies within moulding potential players for the 2010 World Cup campaign. Those who may say, in typical Trinidad and Tobago fashion, "Man, we have plenty of time still", had better wake up and recognise the tremendous opportunity for this country to be in at least the top six in the world, if not occupying the No.1 spot. This is not a dream, it is a distinct reality.

God help us if we have a fool like dat in charge of d team. While that dreamer is figuring out how tiny Trinidad go get to world #1, I hope Beenhakker stays on after d world cup, and continues theexcellent, and far more realistic, job he's been doing. There is absolutely no point in making stupid claims like dat.

Football / Re: President praises Bertille St Clair.

All d best to Bertille St. Clair, but he wasnt good enuf to coach at international level. I went to d Trinidad-Scotland game last year when he was still manager. That was the worst display of football I have ever seen - no tactics whatsoever. The score might only have been 4, but it would have been 10 if they hadn't taken pity on us. You could see d goal coming from a mile away (everyone in d stadium could literally see d big gaps where dey were gonna pass d ball next - everyone except BSC and we players)

What a difference now that we've got a tactician in place. BSC set us back years, especially when Jack sack him d first time and Yorke get vex. Only God knows why they hire him again. We could have been in Japan/South Korea if we had got Beehaker on board earlier..

Football / Re: Hislop disappointed with Di Canio
« on: December 21, 2005, 03:53:17 PM »
As a youth, Di Canio was a member of Lazio's racist and violent Ultras. Lazios ultras are well known for their racist beliefs and the number of black players to represent Lazio can be counted on one hand - and I don't mean at the moment, I mean ever. So for anyone to suggest that the salute was patriotic rather than than racist is silly.

Di Canio is an exhibitionist, he always has been. But by making the gesture he will galvanise lazio's racist element even further. No doubt he will be seen as a martyr by his supporters, even if the rest of us see him as an idiot.

I have a good friend who is at the very top of a TV station in Wales. I'll ask whether they know, as they show all the Welsh international games.

Any1 livin in d UK go know dat Wales was never coming to London to play against us when dey have d best stadium in d UK right dere in Cardiff. Daz like Trinidad goin to play a friendly against a European team in on a nex island - it wudnt make no sense.

Wales aside, d question is who we go be playing on March 1, given dat every1 else dun organise deyself for dat date?

Rep. of Ireland or Scotland mightn't be bad choices...I wasn't too keen on Wales from d get-go. Ent we in demand now? Time to cash in on dat.

Ireland are playing Sweden on March 1, Scotland are playing Switzerland.

Wayne Rooney is the best young player in the World...Messi and them int prove themselves in a big competition...Rooney prove himself in Euro and he is a boss....Wayne Rooney on a different level

that says nothing
Wayne Rooney is just that little older then Messi.
Messi proved himself in WC under 21 here in Holland.
Messi is the biggest talent out and therefor he gets double points.
Really he is still only a talent but it is all very exiting since we didn't have such a huge talent since Diego Marradona ( I think)
Messi is from 1987 june 24, Rooney from 1985 oct 24
What important is is that MEssi & Fabregas are needed in Barca or Arsenal every week.
When they are not playing both teams suffer.

First and foremost I'm an Inter fan, so I think Martins should be on the list. Robinho should also be there

That aside, I've watched almost every Barca game this season - Messi is fantastic, but he plays alongside Ronaldinho and Etoo who have a far greater impact than he does. He didn't look the same player yesterday when Ronaldinho was rested, no doubt because its alot easier for Messi to find space when defenders have Ronnie to deal with.

I live in London and my premiership club is Chelsea, but I'll admit that Rooney for £30m was much better value than essien or swp for £23m+ . Rooney's influence on Man U is far more significant that Messi's current impact at Barcelona. Frank Rijarkd is a crowd pleaser, and will keep starting Messi as long as the fans keep calling for him, regardless of how well Guily is playing. Rooney is playing under a manager who likes to keep his young stars under wraps as long as possible. Rooney plays virtually every game now, and Man U without him are woeful.

For some reason youth is always associated with potential greatness. I can't think of a single player who was "spotted" at age 17/18 and whose talent has increased significantly since. Not that players like Owen and Ronaldo aren't excellent, but they probably aren't much better than they were when they first burst onto the world stage. No doubt Messi is man of the moment, and I agree, he probably will be the next Maradona (like Forlan, Riquelme, Aimar and all the rest...) Rooney doesn't need to get much better. he's already great.
