What about Track & Field / Re: Aleesha Barber 2009 opener

For me it sounds like college doping , they want her to run unattached so that she will still be available next year to run with them so their squad will be stronger .Is that what I am hearing ,if it is has ethics been thrown out of the window

What about Track & Field / NAAA Development Meet
« on: January 24, 2009, 02:20:44 PM »
I saw on the NAAA website that there was a devlopment meet at the mannie ramjohn stadium. So i decided to go and take in some action. I was appalled at what they call development . Imagine there is 100m races for men and also under 17 races where starting blocks were available but athletees had the option of using them or not , the hard part is that some seasoned athletes ran without it . How could it be development if we are not letting the athletes do the right thing from the start. Plus it was poorly attended it did not even have a starter gun but it was whistle blowing.
So of course I started to get bored and fed up of the lack of interest shown on athletes faces , the determination seem to lack from their eyes their body language before the race had me feeling that some of them were being forced to run and not that they had the drive to do it.
So I saw Mr Gunness Persaud , so i decided that probably my trip was not all in vain , so i can ask him what plans he have for bledman this year and what meets can I look forward to see him in , probably it is my fault that I did not have a press badge or because of my youthful age that he dismiss me with such disdain , which have me wondering if he even care about the fans and if he does not then what is happening to track and field . I understand that some things as a coach you will love to keep private but meets he will be competing in , this is a athlete that is given money by the government to train may i say my hard earn tax money. So seeing thahe is a government sponsored athlete should they not be willing to provide such information to the public. He even went on to tell me he have no plans and ask me if I had a better plan ,I must say I was itching to tell him my better plan but I kept my mouth shut because he would not have like to hear my plan , because the first thing on the agenda was changing of his coach. Lets be honest look at bledman preparation for last year , what meets he ran in , has his time improve or does it seems that the coach has carried him as far as he could. Plus in training which other athlete does bledman has to work with him yo push him. these are the facts I remember when bledman ran third in 2007 to brown and thompson . the stats will show that even though richard had clocked a faster timing for the year than bledman, bledman was more consistent. But this year we have seen richard jump to whole new level and bledman not even PR for the year .Can a local coach take these athlete from youth level to international level in trinidad , my honest opinion is yes but it will take a attiude change from these coaches that tehy are willing to help each otherr and take suggestions from each other and not feel that they know it all. Show me a coach who is willing to listen to the smallest of fans and I will show you a world class coach.

What about Track & Field / Re: Women 4x100m
« on: January 21, 2009, 10:57:54 AM »
My problem, with the women 4x100m is that outside kellyann we do not have any other runner that run consistently at the a level requirement , For instance semoy hackett needs to be more consistent and the same thing can be said about ayanna hutchinson , also sasha springer, you see them running at notionals and running in trinidad and they clock around 11.3 but when they go outside when you expect them not to win medal but run at their best form they seem to be far off , I will undersrstand if a 11.3 sprinter runs at say 11.45 but what I have been seeing is worst than that. I am asking can we get athletes to perform near the best , I am not saying win medals but at least try to PR or come close to it . I really feel cheated when athletes clock fast clockings down here and when they go they are totally far from it.
I think that a reward should be set up for individuals that PR at championships so as to encourage athletes to peak at the right time and to perform. Probably if fana was still around running at the level she used to I would be more optimistic about the women 4x100. But fana is now running at 11.76 instead of her 11.12 which begs my question how did the naaa let an athlete of so much promise crash and crash so quickly. How can some one lose it so quickly . So i am hoping that since this year caribbean games is in trinidad that these women athletes can finally turn up and be counted . Once a athlete PR then that is all I think we can require from them.
For the women 4x400 there is also melissa deleon , abigail david , dana massiah ,why i have more confidence in the 400m runners is that their form is more consistent dont matter where they go their times seem to be consistent . with the 4x100  I always have to wonder.

What about Track & Field / Women 4x100m
« on: January 19, 2009, 05:11:28 PM »
I think that we should concentrate more on the women 4x400 rather than the women 4x100 . I actually feel we have a better chance with the 400m women. Plus the forum has been dead of late so i thought I would spice it up. Now i know you all goig to say we have no 400m women runners which it is not entirely wrong because we have no 400m women specialist to talk about but we have two 400m hurdlers which is josanne lucas and janeil bellile , plus we have a 100m hurdler name aleesha barber and a 100m runner name kelly ann baptiste . Ok no need to get angry , kelly ann , aleesha , some of you might say i mad but then i will have to question your knowledge of the sport or your memory .Can anybody remember the ncaa finals these both women ran blistering legs for their teams

I think he is just softening things up so Kenwyne might come across , I thin they hoping yorke might convince him to take the move , which i think will be the best thing for his career and will be like yorke when he left for manchester . yorke had beckham jones will have young and milner , he will feast off the service plud gabby speed will run on to all his knockdown will make them the most dandgerous partnership in the premier league and can even see them winning the league this season .

What I am getting at is if they really want to get a chance to represent trinidad as they are ignored while playing in the conference . Come back home , it might mean less money but it helps u to fulfill your dreams . Because I believe that if they are good enough they will stand out among the others and try to get a local pick because they not getting pick as a foreign base , Rick shakes is also another one they can look at . As for norville , sometimes when u pick up getting injuries it out u off of rhthym and it is just for u to get back confidence . He was a highly rated youngster who has fallen off , 25 yrs is too young to write him off . Who knows sometimes a different scene gves u a different results

I am surprised that no pro league sides never try to bring these youth back to trinidad, they are playing conference footbal in England , Why they will be keen to come , because it is their best chance of impressing the national selectors . Both guys had short stints with the national team , norville  has beem hit by a lot of injuries that has hampered his development, Boucaud seems to have a good touch and may end up being a good central midfielder . Just a suggestion for the pro league clubs. Plus if they do well you also have the opportunity to cash in nicely as they have dual citizenship and it will make it easy for them to sign for a english club , you can make a killing in transfer fee, But that depends if our pro league coaches are confident that they can get them back to their best.

Of the top 5 200 meters time of all times , Usain Bolt , Micheal Johnson , Xavier Carter , Wallace Spearmon and Tyson Gay . Gay is the only 100m sprinter on that list .

So then if there is no stats available how do you know it was 23 and 21 and not 24 and 20. Was those stats just off the top of your head or do you have facts to back your point.

Dont forget Usain Bolt spent more of his life running 400 than 100m. Did you noticed that the two top 200m times are by persons who ran the 400m . Probably it is juat a coincidence or is it something much deeper.

Ato is it true that speed matures at full three quarters around a bend any faster control is lost.
Secondly 400m runners do they not concentrate on stride frequency.
The attributes that make stride frequency a good asset appear to be the ingredients of good turn running.
Core strength. Control. Stride tracking and stride recovery.

As for me being disrespectful I wonder what you speaking about so because we came second with two reserves I should not question the accomplishment . Because I think that we can improve on the second place finishing you think I being disrespectful to the guys . So thereby we should settle for second and not try to look at things to be number one . Or is it that we should just be happy to be behind jamaica.

I decided to do a little research on my own to counter your argument. I am going to lis t the teams that we beat in the 4x100 m . Japan who we ran down and caught . First leg Naoki Tsukahara PB 10.15 2007 ans SB 10.16 2008 . Second leg Shingo Suetsugu PB 10.03 2003 and SB 10.55 2008. Third leg Shinjin Takahira PB SB 10.29 2008. Anchor leg Nobuhara Ashara PB 10.02 2001 and 10.17 2008. Brazil first leg Vincent De Lima PB 10.13 2004 SB 10.26 2008. Second leg Sandro Viana PB SB 10.19 2008. Third leg Bruno de Barros PB SB 10.22 2008 . Anchor leg Jose Carlos Moreira PB 10.16 2007 and 10.25 2008. So the achor legs had season best of 10.17 and 10.25 while richard has a SB 9.89 . They recieved the baton say 0.05 seconds between them, I am not taking anything from RT run .But I dont think it is that spectacular as you put it out to be .We beat Japan by .01 so from the stats from their time for this to be a spectacular run as you claim then he would have to get the baton about .30 seconds after japan .Bledman PB 10.14 2007 Sb 10.18 2008 Burns PB 9.96 2005 SB 9.97 2008 Callendar 10.17 2008 and RT 9.89 2008. So us coming second was what was expected anything else i would be sorely disappointed

Actually ato it each team has two of the four of the winning team as I can remember it was bledman , burns callendar and thompson. Armstrong as i can recall was injured . Would it not be fascinating to see. A lot can change in a year , so dont write off the B team so quickly as you dont know really what to expect from them in 2009. Plus heart counts for a lot and I can see the intensity in renny eyes to compete , so I am sure he will go down fighting . Ato you are the only one who can actually make it happen , you can convince the NAAA to try it at national championship.

IF it is my lack of knowledge as some people put it, or stubborn ignorance , then what it is you all have to lose by trying it at national championship. Usually at national championship we have clubs running the 4x100m and it is not really a glamour event , why not spice it up. As by winning by two mile I think that you are a little bit misguided , I chose the second team because it is an unknown quantity of how fast they can go next year , I think callendar will be in the 10.04 region and bledman in the 9.98 region , Rennie Quow will be the unknown on the third leg ,and the last leg will be a greater unkown because to this day we still are not sure how fast darrel can really go. If team A win ,I will not be angry because it is good for Trinidad sprinting ,if Team B wins I will not show off because all I care about is the best for T&T . Some people may say that I am eccentric , Some may question my lack of knowledge ,Is not what important the best for our country and not our pride or our own self belief . I am not on a crusade for myself but for my country .For instance when I look at the development of Gavyn Nero I wonder the vision of the NAAA , what is the sense in having him compete in Carifta when there is no one there to give him competion , why not try to get him to compete in the African youth Games will that not benefit him better .

Interesting thought let us check for national this year , Thompson vs Brown , two teams two anchors , see if richard can chase down and catch brown or if brown can chase down and catch Richard , it will add a added spice to next year championship . So thereby it will rest the argument for once and for all , It will be a great showdown
.It can be Rondell Sorillo ,Marc Burns Aaron Armstrong ,Richard Thompson
vs Emmanuel Callendar, Keston Bledman , Rennie Quow , Darrel Brown

no one said he is a 100m sprinter. why is it people are unwilling to try something new. PS. i also think rene will shock everyone with how fast he can go in the 200 and his ability to run curves. I never said he was bolt, but sometimes it takes someone to try something once and see the benefits. What is there to lose by trying it , probably we can try it at trials with a a team and b team and put reny on the b team and see what is the results from it.

Why are you looking at his start, the only start that matters is the first leg , he will be running from a standing position have you really took a look at how renny quow runs the turn in the third 100 and see how his splits are for that part of the race. Did you see any or renny 200 last year ., I think he can beat  callender and sorillo in a 200m race.

Can you please show me the articles where you saw that talent in richard before 2007 when he was a 10.25 sprinter . I find it hard to find those articles , the only article I found were the articles after he performed admirably at university. I have followed our athletes progress on trackshark for the last four years religiously looking at times and inprovement. If you had said he will be great when he was running 10.35 then I would of believe that you can spot talent . So it does not take an analsyst to spot talent and say he will be great after his times have already spoken to himself . Now you show me the evidence and prove me wrong .Any article clippings would be nice . PS. I also took the liberty to run throgh all the post on your website and none was found in the forum of you saying that , But I stand to be corrected and will be man enough to say I was wrong and give you my apology

So are u saying that you cant get it wrong. Everyone is entitled to their own decisions. Not because you were a f1 driver makes someone perfect in picking a next f1 driver. You made your decision and all kudo's but I also have my opinion. I may not be a f1 driver but that does not mean that my opinion holds no value . Sometimes the best opinion come from just a true fan who supports the sports and the country over all else . Sometimes passion and desire can beat all that experience . God works in mysterious ways .You will have facts to support your point and I will have facts to support mine.As to your video evidence that will be provided to you soon. It amazes me that you cant remember or recall anytime that darrel has reeled us back into placing after recieving the baton behind. You tube dont have the videos I am searching for as it only have the final posted . If you are talking about in a final then I will say only richard. But if it is in any relays we participated in I will have to say also Darrel.

So because no other country does it, is justification not to, so are we just to follow the norm or try something for the sake of science and see how it goes. you never know unless you give it a try . Why is it that our minds can not be open. Probably that is what is missing in the NAAA that no new ideas are coming through , no one is taking a chance to try something different , we always trying to copy everyone else and not trying to invent anything for ourselves . I find we lack creativity and new ideas , it is time for some fresh blood as everyone else seems to be trapped in the norm.

Why do people belive that a 4x100m requires 4 100 meters specialist , I always thought about putting renny quow on the 3rd leg he may be the fastest curve runner we have . he might not be able to beat them in a 100m but let them race just on the curve and see who comes off the bend the fastest. What do you guys think.

Ato you still have not answered my question will he be competing in 2009 or not . I disagreed with some of your comments you made about richard anchoring. I still feel that darrel is the best on the anchor leg . Yes I saw what richard did in the olympics but I think that darrel marc would of done the same jobs the sprinters that he chased none were big names what were their time . I still think that the orderr should be burns then richard then bledman then brown. because i watch richard back straight runs for lsu , what was his split compare that to marc. Next how many big name runners has darrel brown caught over the years and name one person that has run pass darrel on the anchor leg.

What is the latest information on Darrel Brown, is he still out for the entire 2009 or has he recovered faster than expected. I know the critics have written him off but I still believe that he is the only runner that is capable of catching bolt . Once he remains healthy and get over his mental block. All Kudo's to richard and Marc Burns but I still believed that Darrel is our most talented sprinter ever , hope he remains fit to prove me right.

It's not happening.

No vision, and no willingness to take a step forward. Jamaica has made moves SINCE Beijing, the US has too. Guess who will be using the same old wish, hope and pray formula?

My irritation is for me allowing (as usual) people to waste my time who are clearly clueless. This will mark the end of ALL my involvement that is for sure.

Save for Richard Thompson, nothing with me and TNT track and field will be ever remotely connected.  I will let those who clearly are happy with our current state show the way, and be an outside observer.

Think Gally Cummings....

Part of the reasons I doh like premature announcements... let all dem chickens hatch first.  Not directed at you personally.

...anyways, whey bout de Born 2 do It academy... yuh still go work with Trini yutes in dat?

The problem in Trinidad and Tobago Sports is that we have too many people who are running the organisations that do not love the sport, I would say they love what they can get from the sport. Oh how i wish it could have orgnisers who are die hard lovers of the sport and do all that it takes to make it prosper . I may only be 27 but I think I have more vision and Ideas than NAAA TTFF combined.

It is said Old men have dreams and young men have visions , then why is it that these organisations dont give the young blood a chance to run them. How many of the NAAA executives take time every week to go on trackshark to track the stats of our athletes abroad. No vision look at youngster Gavyn Nero , why is it that the executive dont try to get him to compete in the african games youth games or african meets . A 800m runner if you look at the stats the african runners dominate this event , if at so young he is not exposed to that level of competinion how is he to ever excel at that event.
