Football / Re: Stoke close in on Saints' Fuller
« on: August 30, 2006, 10:35:35 AM »
Fuller will be a good signing for Stoke.

I believe they have a problem with pigeons nesting in the roof of the stands, Fuller's shots will soon scare them off :rotfl:

What I want to know is if vulgar tackles like this are under the perview of the law and can be deemed criminal offences...

Yes, in the UK they are.

Duncan Ferguson spent 6 weeks in jail for headbutting a Raith Rovers player in his Rangers days. Which was small ting for him, he has numerous convictions for assault off the pitch as well.

A head butt or an elbow to the jaw. Neither of these are "Tackles" though.

I missed the Highlights but saw them yesterday before I went Carnival
Giggs Is Playing Like It's 1992, Andy Johnson's Finish was nice, Darren Bent Has got a good start hopefully he stays in the England squad, Defoe is doing jack doodoo hopefully that changes, I can't diss crouch no more which isnt fun (lol) and from last night's game its obviously Harry Redknapp's team is on drugs, just kidding  ;)

I'm sure there will be a drugs bust at our training ground the way we're playing :o

Spuds have just signed Mido so Defoe is further down the pecking order, about time he joined his old boss I think ;)

In this case, Pedro Mendes will not press charges and I agree with him that, presuming the FA take action, then that should be the end of it.

However, I don't think you should take away the possibility of Police action, as you say, that could have caused serious injury, thugs like that should not be protected because it is on a football pitch.

I'd just like to ask a question of all the Chelsea fans on here.

WERE YOU WATCHING YESTERDAY  ;D

Middlesbrough 0 - Portsmouth 4  :rotfl:

impressive performance... too bad you'll fall swiftly back down to earth at stamford bridge..

if you're a real fan, why didnt you make the long monday night trip to go to the game like john portsmouth football club wilson?? (thats his name right?)

I'm in the process of moving house (Emigrating actually), so I didn't even get the chance to watch it on TV as we have cancelled our Sky subscirption :'(

mind you, 600 mile round trip or 12 hours on a train, on a Monday night, no thanks. There's being a fan and theres being mad, John PFC Westwood falls into the latter ;D

Saying Green Street (Or football factory for that matter) is about football is like saying the Warriors is a New York tourist information film.

These films show an era that has long since passed. Watch if you will, but don't think Football in England is like this

Robbie Williams jokes aside, good luck to the Vale, we have had some good tussles over the years (Usually at the foot of the old first division :() good set of supporters.

I think it should also be mentioned, that Chris is one of the top providers of jokes in the jokes section as well :beermug:

Every season Thatcher never lets us down with his 'thugery'. And to think Spurs actually paid £5m for him.

PS Pompey, do believe me now when i said Portsmouth were gonna finish 5th?

I'm starting to believe, although it will be harder without our play maker for a few games. Every time I see the incident it looks worse, apparantly Man City fans have reported seeing an assault and teh police are obliged to follow it up so Ben Thatcher may be looking at a lot more than a telling off from the FA.

Mind you, he did the same to Nicky Sommerbee when he was at Wimbledon, he managed to puncture someones lung in a pre-season friendly in Korea and that his third attempt at elbowing someone last night.

Nice bloke Ben Thatcher ::)

It's all the shyte talk I can't stand.

Shite talk is what football is all about.

It's the first game of the season tomorrow and I KNOW we are going to win the premiership. If we beat Blackburn tomorrow then my thoughts will be confirmed, we are the new Chelsea. If we lose to Blackburn, we are shite, the manager should be sacked and I am never going to Fratton Park again.

Come Tuesday when we have our next game, that will all change ;D

If we can get Obafemi Martins, Sully Muntari and Manuel Fernandes then a EUFA spot is a definate possibility.

we have made the best offer for Martins, it is just a case of persuading him he doesn't want to play CL football for a couple of seasons.

hopefully he is greedy and will take our offer.

looks like they signed kanu.

Kanu is very well respected in Nigeria. hopefully that will help persuade Martins to jon us.

Beers are on me if we do

No offense, just the whole Euro being harder to win is a pet peeve of mine. European teams should win more WCs if that were true..instead I think its Europe 9 - South America 9.

and out of that 9............ England 1
as usual one set ah hype bout England
all name and no game
England eh winning not now not never

when yuh watching the spots highlights all yuh seeing in England trashing Greece yuh swear they win a big trophy, one would ah never think they had other internationl games on the same day

If England ever won the world cup, half the guys on this forum would say it was lucky, there were no other decent teams, England cheated (Like all colonial countries do apparantly) or the referees were biased.

we had a pre season friendly against Greece and won 4-0, not only that, the performance was fairly good as well. No one is saying it was a great victory or it is a sign of things to come, just that we put in a good display.

I wish some people would take their blinkers off when it comes to England.

England!!!!!

what a great preformance by the three lions

I'm English till I die...I love you love you England...I'm English till I die!!!!!!!!!

The people that say that Small Mag wouldn't piss on you if you were on Fire. When I go to away grounds like villa you'll see them people and think what idiots.

I sing it and I'd certainly piss on Small Mag if he was on fire. In fact, I'd throw my beer over him if that helped (Not if it was my last one of course ;D)

Anyway, the song sounds a lot better when it has the right lyrics "Portsmouth Til I Die, I'm Portsmouth til I die, I know I am I'm sure I am I'm Portsmouth til I die". ;)

After being unable to sign several forward targets, Portsmouth have changed tack and are offering a deal to Kanu, who left West Bromwich Albion at the end of last season. Harry Redknapp, the Portsmouth manager, has dismissed his chances of signing Diego Forlán, of Villarreal and formerly with Manchester United, and Klaas Jan Huntelaar, of Ajax.

One of the newspapers asked Harry if he loked Diego Forlan, Harry replied, yes I do,  :rotfl:but I also like Steve Gerrard and I'm not signing him either

the comments about the wink are true, the England players didn;t see that until after the game, but with the same respect, I can;t believe the referee saw the stamp on carvalho, I think he sent Rooney off for the push of Ronaldo and then changed his mind. But none of it matters now, it;s all history.

I still believe England had the players, not nexessarily in the squad, but available for selection, to win the world cup. We didn;t because we had a poor manager who selected the wrong squad and tried to make amends by playing a system that did not work.

That along with the fact that no English players, with the exception of Hargreaves, played anything like as well as they can. but, as I said, it's all history now.

Football / Re: England too cocky

Sounds like this statement has been made for two reasons.

Branding Ronaldo a disgrace grabs headlines, perfect when you are trying to sell a book.
Also,
Naming Carvalho fits in nivcely with the "Mind Games" starting between Liverpool and Chelsea.

As for England not being good enough, no shit sherlock ::)

Football / Re: New England Skipper
« on: August 11, 2006, 07:42:47 AM »
He has turned a page.  I'm aware of his past, but I will say that he has matured since then.  You can tell that his focus is on his game now, and that is why he has finally blossomed into one of the best central defenders in the world.

best central defenders in England not in the world
anytime he come up against some skillfull players he is made to look ordinary

so true who rememders how ronaldinho jes skip pass him as if he didn't even exist tuh score in  de champions league

can you name a defender he would not have skipped past?

Terry is as good as there is and I think that McLaren has made a good choice. He had an easy decision though, because Gerrard would have been just as good.

imbrahimovic is still young pompey so imagine what happens when he realises that he needs to werk on finishing (even though he is good at it ) ocne he perfects his game he his not over 24 i believe and should he perfect his game in a reasonable 3 year period next world cup he will be a force to reckon with

it's not so much his finishing he needs to work on, it's his work level. If he put as much effort into his football as he does telling everyone how good he is, then he would be an amazing player.

At the moment, he is living on a reputation that he has not fully earned.
