Oh my gorm... their transition play was remarkable. from the defense into attack was at such an alarming pace the arubans were constantly on their toes. There was no sticking in the back. clear the ball for a midfilder and then that was it, straight attack. They attacked in numbers they defended in numbers, makes me want to say we should have hired Wim for the WC instead of Beenie. But it is still early in the tournament.

Hopefully in the next game our guys have compassion on Grenada and not go all genocidal on them.

End result 8-1
but it should and could of beem 15 -1

meh PC on work giving trouble so i have to post in parts ok...

What amazed me was the poise of out team. The only 'beats' came whem it was necessary. they played like a team, they knew where each other was and were each player should be. The through ball was straight out of a Fifa game. It was as if brazil was playing  Jamaica on Fifa World Cup 06. The central midfield controlled the play like ah boss. he was knocking balls into spaces he himself created with one simple touch. the only thing that failed our guys was their first touch, but against such a weak opposition that was not a problem. They had ample time to control and create plays.

The poise of these young lads must be applauded as well. They never panicked infront of goal and they forced alot of saves for the opposition goal keeper.

If 1000 Arubans (arubian whatever they call themselves) died for each goal we scored or could of scored it would be reminicant of the movie Hotel Rwanda. They were Hutsi and we were the other tribe. Indeed it felt so. I arrived late; a little after the 2nd half and what totaly surprised me was the support the Soca Warriors jr team recieved. The covered stands was packed out, there was no sitting room and the standing seats were almost filled. i had to squeeze in infront 2 female security officers(standing seats section).

It was indeed a massaca. whatever the coach told them in the dressing room during the break  worked because TnT came out refreshed and with a vengance.

On the Mid west issue i stand corrected. Basically the point i was trying to make is you have  better chance of being seen if u play with a team in the top flight but mek sure it's one ah de shittier NCAA zones.

The case wid Nkosi aka Chukky is I don't believe its a permanent work. Most persons living in Point Fortin who are attached to the LNG plant are on a contractual basis via a sub contractor. So the hopes of plently paper is none. The government regularized LNG's paying schemes years ago so even though is good money you working for it's not what it used to be.

Subsequently if u ever wish to play the highest-level of Football for a US college I advise you to try the Mid West schools. Predominantly white but we folks of colour tend to make the top teams in that division. Sean Smith a former Benedictine like myself, never played a game of Intercol football but I currently a starting midfielder for the University of Massachusetts (UMASS).  Many Intercol players fail to make UCLA’s team so after speaking with Sean I can suggest if u want to play at the highest level and thus get a greater chance of being recognized, try the Midwest colleges. NB you may need to do very well on your SATs though.

This was my one-day in de southland

I went down Point Fortin for the Weekend and it was an interesting one. I met up with Andre Toussaint of W Connection along with some other former Intercol players

Most of you were wondering why Andre didn't make the squad to face Japan. He is injured. He picked up a slight knee injury that kept him out of connections last 4 games

Connection also transferred Andre's striking partner from since secondary school days Kendall "neck" Davis to Joe Public

I know many of you were wondering whatever happened to Nkosi Blackman the lone goal scorer for us at the under 17-world cup. He is currently employed at Atlantic LNG Point Fortin ( I stand corrected but this is the info i got on a short interview)

Also for my fellow ex benedicts SW members i have great news. Mr. Jan Stedman is the new coach of  St Benedicts college Intercol side... (smiles) it's what we wanted on for years.

The Daily Express carried an article today by Lasana Liburd pg 20 Sport Express Magazine.
Definitly a must read.
Our very fine reporter, Liburd, speaks in the article of the Dutch monopoly developing in out local football. Wim "The Whip" is now being assisted by another dutch coach, Jan Van Deinsen.
The roles of out local staff played before is being minimized which I personally love (especially) Tiger Phillips role. We also retain Beenie Man as an advisor and as Phillips role is being minimized almost as a cat being cornered. But as the old saying goes corner a cat and get scratched. Will Tiger Phillips scratch back?

« on: July 04, 2006, 10:41:49 AM »
Far beyond the under 21's we have capable replacements such as Andre Toussaint and Kendall Davis and a host of other players from the last glory days of intercol. These guys are capable of playing on the big stage all Wim (hopefully) needs to do is give them a chance. I believe the next crop will come from and can come from a mixture of the past under 23's current under 23's under 21's and the current secondary school squads we nee the mixture.

We can make it again I'm assured again but are we as a people going to write the team off as we did with the current squad before the win over Mexico. The guys needour support so the initative by OG to adopt a club needs to be supported by all WN and SW members and friends
