There's not likely to be any form of improvement for GC qualifiers.
So maybe we should write that off too.
If he gets fired he most likely would need to be paid off unless he failed to meet some metrics.

So then what to do. Let him continue and salt  for the next few years until the next cycle of tournaments begin?
Bring in somebody else who going and be hamstrung by this whole mess that is TT football?

What really are our options here?

One of these things is not like the others.

Bahamas collected maybe about 15 in their 3 previous games.

We couldnt score ONE when it mattered most. Thats just damning.

T&T training match in Dominican Republic cancelled
LOOP SPORTS CREATED : 21 MARCH 2021SPORT

A training match between the T&T men’s national team and the Dominican Republic club Atletico Pantoja was canceled due to a breach in the standard COVID-19 protocols.

TTFA Media reported on Saturday that the match was arranged at the club’s home base, but was abandoned on the advice of the T&T team doctor Akash Dhanai.

The release stated that Dr. Dhanai’s decision came “after a thorough assessment of the Covid-19 tests undergone by the Pantoja players was determined to fall short of the TTFA’s and FIFA’s medical standards.”

Further, the release stated that “the decision was taken to cancel the match to ensure that the safety of T&T players and staff would not have been compromised ahead of next Thursday’s Concacaf World Cup qualifier against Guyana.”

TTFA Media says that all members of the T&T team have been following strict COVID-19 regulations since they entered the biosecure bubble at the Home of Football on March 16.

With the game canceled, head coach Terry Fenwick and his staff later conducted a training session with the team in the afternoon.

Thursday’s match against Guyana takes place at the Pan American Stadium without spectators.

There will also be no spectators when T&T takes on Puerto Rico on 28 March.

but we didn't have time for Training match in a monitored environment, anyway, I doubt they woulda pay we.

Is like they saying...." I don't think there's anything else that could go wrong with preparation for this WCQ..... but we'll try our best to find out"

That was a lively Round 2. Boisterous even :). Allyuh slap Fenwick around even after the bell rang. :rotfl: And on top of that, Marcus slapped him going (for not being a Trini) and then turned around and slapped him again (for being too Trini).  :rotfl: :rotfl:

On the comment regarding the shock about the La Masía budget.  Without endorsing the figure mentioned, what I can state is that there is a lot of counterintuition when it comes to this subject (because often ppl think of clubs and their interest in turning a huge profit on players invested in). However, in Europe, based on a 2018 study, almost 25% of clubs held the view/adhere to a policy of allocating less than 5% of their total operating budget to players coming through the youth ranks. About 50% of the clubs regarded less than 10% of the operating budget as their sweet spot. It is something that has to be contextualized bearing some other factors in mind.

Replicating that in T&T would be costlier than the face value of the exchange rate.

Noted. In fact in checking it back the figure was way off.

The fact is for a budget to exist...there at least is a plan. And the "absence" of a plan is what is most concerning.

Had a big debate with a brethrin the other day.

What do you see as a tactician in terms of football?

I wondering if I should lay the framework of the argument to give context but I dont want to influence the answers.

So....what do you see as the hallmarks of a tactician? And who?

“Tallest” fired as head coach.
By Joel Bailey (Newsday).

DENNIS “TALLEST” Lawrence has been fired as head coach of T&T's senior men’s national football team with immediate effect.

According to a media release from the TT Football Association (TTFA) on Sunday, “The services of Lawrence as national team coach were terminated with immediate effect following a majority decision by the board.”

The TTFA had a nine-hour board meeting on Saturday at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva with its elected officers (president William Wallace, vice-presidents Clynt Taylor, Susan Warrick and Joseph Sam Phillip) and eight of 12 member delegates from Central FA, Eastern FA, Northern FA, Southern FA, TT Pro League, TT Referees Association, TT Super League and Women’s League Football (WoLF).

The media release noted, “Immediately following the decision of the board, Wallace contacted Lawrence via telephone to inform him of the decision and wished him well in his personal and professional life, while also thanking him for his services to the men’s team.

“The TTFA president and Lawrence’s representative(s) will meet to discuss the terms of separation,” the release continued.

“Lawrence’s replacement will be announced shortly.”

The 45-year-old Lawrence has endured a heavily-criticised stint as coach, since he was appointed in January 2017.

He only guided the team to six victories since replacing Belgian Tom Saintfiet.

And former TTFA president David John-Williams, in a Newsday interview last month, said, “Unfortunately, we live in a society of instant gratification and (are) results-oriented. And we live in a society where we see in the English Premiership, where a man loses five games and they buss he throat.

“Because in the morning, you know what? I could go and pick up a coach in the morning. And that same coach who get he throat buss could go to a next team and get nine wins on a trot. But we don’t live in a country where we could pick up a men’s national team coach like that.

“We don’t have the money to fire Dennis Lawrence in the morning.”

lil backstories or inside info on the womens team as the qualifiers take place this week??

They won their first game against Aruba 3 nil.  Not a bad result but given that one practice game happened before the tournament.... it can be taken in that context. Next game Wednesday.
