Football / Rules for the play-offs
« on: October 13, 2005, 02:27:24 PM »
Only 2 games left before we know who goes to the world cup between T&T and Bahrain.

Play-offs and away goals
In addition to the European play-offs, the team finishing fifth in Asia will play off against the team coming fourth in the North, Central American and Caribbean zone, and the winner of the Oceania preliminary competition will play off against the fifth-placed team from South America for a place in Germany.

For these matches, the knock-out (cup) system will apply (as per Art. 7.9 of the Regulations). This means that for the home and away matches, the team having scored most goals in both games will qualify.

If both teams score the same number of goals in both matches, the goals scored away will be counted as double. If the same number of goals is scored away or both matches end without any goals being scored, two 15-minute periods of extra time shall be played after the second match. If the score is level after extra time, penalty kicks shall be taken to determine the winner.

Edwards beat the mexican and was surprised the man bite the fake so hard.... he actually stopped..... kudos ...... but what happened to Spann.......

Latapy take spann spot, he needs more experience be4 we put him in, the midfield too crowded now, I cant remember tnt ever having so much competition in midfield.  The latapy impact is very great

(THIS IS SO TRUE, READ UNTIL THE END AND YOU WILL UNDERSTAND)

My grandmother could play for the U.S., says La Volpe

MEXICO CITY, Sept 4 (Reuters) - Mexico's coach Ricardo La Volpe described the United States as a little team which his grandmother could play for following his side's 2-0 defeat on Saturday, local media said.

"It's a little team," La Volpe was widely quoted as saying following the World Cup qualifier in Columbus, Ohio.

"Here, everyone's interested in baseball and American football and many people didn't even know that a soccer match was being played today.

"So it's easy for them, because they aren't playing under any pressure. My mother, my grandmother or my great grandmother could play in a team like that."

The U.S., who have 18 points from seven games in the final stage of the CONCACAF qualifying competition, booked their place at next year's World Cup with the win.

Mexico, unbeaten in their previous 14 qualifying matches and two points behind the U.S., still need one point from their final three games to qualify.

"They scored a goal and then they sat back," said Argentine La Volpe.

The match had been preceeded by a slanging match, sparked by an interview which U.S. striker Landon Donovan gave to Spanish language media in his country.

Donovan said the Mexicans were jealous of the U.S., always out to humiliate them and he wanted to make them feel miserable.

After Saturday's match, Donovan was in no more conciliatory mood.

"They suck," he said. "I'm so happy. After we got that first goal they were never in the game. Hopefully that will shut them up for the next three or four years."

I work in marketing in Petry Media in manhattan, and the last thing TV6 should be doing is upseting loyal users.  How they should make money is by COMMERCIALS.  Hello TV6 executives, wake up! Sell more banner ads and pop ups on the page, also video commercials that streams before the news clips.  Come on why TnT backward so!
