Honduras 1, Trinidad and Tobago 1, tie

July 7, 2005
MIAMI (AP) -- Christopher Birchall and Maynor Figueroa exchanged first half goals as Trinidad and Tobago and Honduras tied 1-1 in a first round CONCACAF Gold Cup game Wednesday night.

Both teams had opportunities to break the deadlock late in the second half but a couple of misfired shots kept the match a draw.

Honduras' Wilmer Velasquez missed an open goal when his shot deep in the goal area sailed above the crossbar in the 72nd minute. Trinidad and Tobago's Colin Samuel hit the crossbar with his shot from 25 yards nine minutes later.

Samuel's shot proved costly for Honduras, losing starting goalkeeper Victor Coello on the play. Coello dove to stop the shot but fell awkwardly and remained on the ground, favoring his left shoulder.

Reserve Junior Morales replaced Coello, who was diagnosed with a left shoulder separation.

Birchall opened the scoring with a goal at the 27th minute to put Trinidad and Tobago ahead 1-0. Birchall successfully converted on a shot from 25 yards, finding the upper-right corner.

But Honduras countered with Figueroa's game-tying goal in the 43rd minute. Figueroa blasted a free kick from the half circle past a wall of defenders and goalkeeper Kelvin Jack.

In Wednesday night's first game at the Orange Bowl, Panama surprised Group A favorite Colombia with a 1-0 victory.

Panama leads Group A with three points.

The second set of first round games will be played Saturday.

In an interview Beenhacker was dissapointed to see the GK give up two unfortunate easy goals. Don't be suprise to see Ince back in the starting spot soon.  Jack is just not ready to be a national goalie yet, he not  very dependable back there

Remember all them american scouts and coach will be watching TnT live at the GC in preparations for the game.  I think Beenhacker is experienced i enough to know not to put his best starting 11 all at once in da same starting lineup.  He might be just experience with all the Fowards Yorke, John, Glenn, Sam, Glassgow, and Scotland differnently

Football / Colombian Coach really nice ras
« on: June 11, 2005, 06:19:55 PM »
The Colombian team is really well prepared in different schemes in different set plays from a game i saw agaist Ecuador. The best one i saw was involved with one of the ball boys.  After one of the colombian players set the ball to take a corner kick he took 4 steps backwards, the referee blew this whistle to tell him he can kick it now, then  a  ball boy went to the ball to replace it with another ball.  The colombian player stood his grounds and was "play arguing" with the ball boy to tell him leave the ball alone and the sudenly he ran up and kicked the corner kick catching  the Ecuadorian defense offguard  but they goal keeper grabbed the ball in the air.

They had othertrick set plays but thats the best one out of all

I hope to see tricks like these out of the Soca Warriors in free kicks and corner kicks, but hopefully first we have to get some one whose accurated on  kicks from distances.

Breads, yuh cyar blame de game on de keeper, Jack had a good game.  He had no chance on de first goal and barely any on the 2nd.

What game did u watch ???, it could of been 3-0 if Avery John did save a goal

We two best players out of de game.....  Yorke play good but both he and John lost up front!

Dwight and Stern combo not clicking at all. But yuh know what, I believe Stern have to take de blame for that. He out of sinc with the play always, going when he should be coming or vice versa..oh well...on to the next one...USA.....I KNOW we could beat dem in USA

I agree one or the other must pair up with a speedy forward like Sam or Glassgow. Sorry to say but John should be the one playing since he's on fire now

Football / TV6 Sports and News clips
« on: June 08, 2005, 03:38:54 PM »
As we all know that TV6 is cutting down on Sports and News clips  because they say 30,000 people watch them each day and they now want to make it a pay-per-view thing.  My answer to them is that Yahoo.com news get millions of people every hour watching their clips and they are still free.  What Yahoo.com do the pay for there hard work is simple puting a sponsoring commericial to play before the news clips, and that wat TV6 should do, Im sending them an e-mail encouraging them to take up that idea and I am asking for someone others who read this to send an e-mail to them also about this idea.  Imaging paying for regular broadcast TV, the should follow there TV format of getting sponsoring commericials too online.

After Latapy goal vs Mexico, Lawrence goal was the best goal I have seen a trinidad player score. The buildup of the goal, the composure and excution to me was really a site to behold. I went home highly intoxicated with my voice horse after the match. If all you can remember any better goals let me know.

How was da goal? or do it have to wait and see if the tv6 express will have it
