i mostly support mr. blatter's decisions, but what is his scene? replay? you kidding me?  the penalty shootout format has always been reliable and always works- at least in deciding a game winner.it's simply who are the better scorers on a team when it really counts.
if he says something about flipping a coin, i'll stop watching world cup.......

look , cut him some slack. i personally know hpm from the days that i used to be in his coaching schoo(1994-95when i was 12, then '98-99 when i was 16 goimg on 17).  i regret not  taking him more serious , because i belive , if i did, not only would i have ben playing professional soccer, but  a well known goalkeeper/player.
anyway itruly think that he is smarter than a lot of the other local coaches.if this is his first year, you have to give him a chance. this is not even his first ever time there ,because he was the qrc coach in the 1994 season , when i was in first form there.even thog i did not follow it seriously that year(i waited 'til form two), i knew  enough to know that we were one of the top teams in secondary school football that year....
by the way, this is the first time i'm hearing of his return. i'm surprised, but glad, because i know brian perkins knows what he's doing....

this is what the club needs to help return it  to its days of relative glory at  the turn of the century. i am sure about a few successive years in the premiership as soon as they return, rivaling the kevin phillips days.....

With all this big talk by these 16 year-olds about emulating the senior team and then come out lazy.  We got to nip this in the bud NOW, or we screwed again for another 20 years.  What was Anton doing?

on one hand , i respect the preemptive criticism of the team. on the other, we need to not follow the  seeming trini mentality of breaking down at the slightest obstacle, talking about being screwed for however long.....

i  didnt see the game,  but i believe trinidad perceived a walkover game .

Football / Re: England too cocky
« on: August 13, 2006, 11:47:51 AM »

Steven Gerrard is England's best midfielder but he is one of the players who believes his press more than any other.

yeah, who more super confident than stevie g?

yet i let it slide because i know he's the perfect midfielder that i would wish to be if i played that position.

but honestly, he's the last man i expect to talk about english over- confidence.remember his pre world cup declarations?

then again, maybe that missed penalty is what humbled him...

i was expecting all these types of concerned responses.

all i gotta say, i'm confident that common sense will prevail , and leave it up to the moderators to worry about going too far.

p.s  i don't think i needed to say something like that. it would be nice to see a person's image off the field as a family guy or whatever(drawing an example), to know that he's a good role model there too.

well yuh hadda understand... Brazillian football is alot slower than Premiership football... quite possibly theyre just trying to play to their strengths.

It would have been a good name if opposing teams use to REALLY feel the wrath....

Jamaica had a good run in the 'OFFICE' until recently...but we never beat nobody bad in any of the stadia yet..even the other CFU teams never really get embarrassed by we on home soil.  Actually sometime ago I used to think we played better away from home oui.

i know we  had those two whippings of panama and canada back in 2000(6-0 and 4-0 respectively) when i truly thought that it would finally be our time for a world cup.
thatys the issue i have with our footballers. we don't beat sides by landslide victories on a regular basis, in spite of our attacking talent...

its a good name though.

Football / Re: Crespo yearns for Italy return
« on: July 25, 2006, 05:29:21 PM »
the fact is that during the  1880s -thats right, late 19th century- the   argentine government began a policy that was an attempt to make argentina whiter thatn it already was.now i dont know the   pure white percentage before, but after the 1880s  lots of white immigrants , especially from italy ,germany, britain and spain came to the country. an obvious legacy of english influence are the names of famous argentine soccer clubs with english names - river plate , boca JUNIORS, velez SARZFIELD and ARSENAL- (yes there is an argentine club with that name).
i always wonder at the argentine attachment to italy (e.g crespo)  beacause i'm not sure that as much as  80% of them are from that part of europe. but i'll go check myself.
its funny though that in north america , europe and australia , not all argentines are considered white , as in their own country- even after this attempt to whiten their country.

« on: July 05, 2006, 07:08:13 PM »
imagine , with two games left in the 2006 world cup, not a single player has scored at least three goals in a game. when's the last time that happened?it would be a shame.perhaps henry could do it to get he golden boot on sunday.

Football / Re: Wats de point in 3rd place match?
« on: July 05, 2006, 07:02:00 PM »
what bout the fact ( i cant believe no one mentioned this yet) that it is the perfect opportunity for men to lock down the golden boot title?
schillchi scored most goals in itaalia '90 with a penalty in third place. stoichkov smply was not lucky in u.s.a '94 to get a goal to tie break that russian guy who get all he goals against  cameroon- in the first rounds. in france '98 davor suker scored to make sure he was on top. in this 2006 germany edition, with klose on five, he have an opportunity to score a few more in order to put it beyond the reach of his only rival left , thierry henry. france's no 12 has 3 and counting

he was playing for german  side  bayer leverkusen, but apparently it was a combination of problems, including starting on the team(as opposed to him making any mls squad), the weather onditions AND DOWNRIGHT HOMESICKNESS.

 i stand corrected.

de 4 dutchmen have all been successful so far.beehakker, hiddink, advocat and van basten.3 recording victories and 1 a draw.i tellin everybody long time now is only ah matter of time that de dutch join de elite group of seven(brazil, argentina, uruguay, italy, germany, france and england.)

it's amazing that they have all coached their country in the world cup(beenie '90, advocaat '94, hiddink '98) now van basten '06.  i only recently found out the previously mentioned  fact about beenhakker.

could someone explain to me why /how  the great van  gaal  messed up with his star-studded dutch squad by failing to qualify for '02?

Football / Re: Indian Players in T&T
« on: June 14, 2006, 02:28:50 PM »
the thing about it is that no one has a problem with the way things are.the trini indians complain about perceived racism and demand equal opportunity in many areas, but they dont demand inclusion of football players of their race. we trinis are all satisfied with  the way things are.we simply look at it as the best players on the team.i'm glad though ,that there is  at least one white player on the team(mind you, i'm black)
the length of this  thread shows how fascinated we trinis are with race issues....
