well, i've been living in new york for a few years.i understand that some hip hop phrases are now being adopted back home in trini.
i havent been to trini in a while, and correct me if im wrong, but i still dont think we reach the point where we get drop in yard( jamaica) and not be able to be detected by our talk .
if not so,then so what? they're west indians anyway .they sound cool. it's like the dudes down south and other parts of america who adopt new york hip hop slang. new york fellars are always looked up to among other young black americans. the same thing for jamaicans among young west indians.
but then, now is trini time!just like is down south time!so im not scared of us losing our heitage completely.

somebody teach meh please!i feel bad when i was seeing  seeing my pardners in  high school and other big men saying "high ,low, jack ,game!"without having a clue...

Football / what number each player will wear?
« on: April 18, 2006, 05:10:04 PM »
ok, i know the team number for some of  the top players on our beloved socawarriors team eg yorke 19...but not all ah dem
i'd  like someone to let me know  what  may be the team number of each of the 24 trinidad and tobago players currently selected.what team number each will  undoubtedly -or be expected to- wear during the 2006 world cup. i dont wanna wait till adidas presents them .
this will not be only for my benefit but for other curious well wishers trini and foreign.
i am already aware that there are some newcomers to the team ,  but still try your best.
           thank you....

I think this might be a hoax. After all these years Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo vex ? It seems a bit unlikely to me. In Pele's case, he's always expressed that he never really liked the name. He said when called him 'Pele' in school he was very annoyed and would often get into fights for it. Pele's comment seems to be too offensive to believe. But he too has benefited from the 'Pele' brand.

Ronaldinho (Gaucho is not even his real name it is nickname ascribed to people of his region of Brazil. There several other Gauchos.) would never make such a comment since he has lucrative deals with nike and a change of name would mean a significant investment into the rebranding of the player.  If it is true nike will quickly shut them up.

iwanted to say this with my original post as points but forgot......
Itwas the pele part that would make it serious AND i happened to be reading an article with that fact just before.... but at least it was  already mentioned here.

from first sight i hoping it was a joke. after the first few sentences, and checking the april fools eve date, i started to smile again. imean, iwas really concerned at the title.can't believe fellars read the whole thing and still get ketch...
say wha, fellers  may genuinely  not be sure how brazilians speak...

Football / Re: Joe Public should change their name to Jamaican Public.
« on: April 01, 2006, 01:56:11 PM »
the  jamaicans are the only ones in the caribbean that can consistently play our level of soccer. i'm glad to see the jamaicans on joe public. im 100% trini ,but  i truly think its good for the league. they are west  indians anyway, and if i wanna see any caribbean player, i wouldnt mind choosing them- based on what i said in the first sentence.

if you talking about one person, i'd say dwight yorke. it's one thing to have played for the richest soccer  club(Man U-big salary) in the most watched sports league(PRIMIER LEAGUE -extra money FROM TV RIGHTS ) in the world.it's  another to have won every title with them(PRIZE MONEY).
and we haven't mentioned his other clubs and endorsements..

i played on the streets in small goal.i took football very serious in secondary school. never made any level for different reasons at diferent times.first due to finasnce problems getting gear, lack of motivation, then finally disillution after not making the first elevensquadin my school. i stopped playing in 2001.. when trinidad did not make it in 2002 , i did not want to hear about football for ayear. then by the begionning of 2004 it came back to me.  ihave  followed the trinidad team through thick and thin, and by the time trinidad qualified, i loved soccer more than ever...
i am agoalkeepoer at heart. ihave played in one intramural competition.
ever since isaw zenga in the 1990 world cup, i wanted to play that position.
when idaydream, think of doing like pele an be a striker. but i know istill have a chance of making it as a keeper.

is it just me , or anyone ever hear that mike tyson late  father was trini? i  could be wrong....

By the time next Gold Cup reach we will have men like Edwards, Whitley, Jones, Birchall and Spann who all by that time will have considerable experience of international football to build a new team of youngsters around i agree the earlier we could bring in d likes of shakes, neaves, noriega and the others as well as reintegrate sealy, glenn, samuel and theobald back into the fold the better it will bode for our 2010 campaign. But then again is all up to the coach and his ability to trust in youngsters to deliver. The only problem in transition i seeing is in defense where our entire backline already in their 30s be it their early 30s

Our Four Keepers will also be well in their 30s as well.

so what ? keeprs last into their early forties

i concur.  if we do very well
in the world cup- like at least the final four-  the others -except, maybe, latapy- will participate in the 2007 gold cup.  i dont agree withg those who belive yorke should be pushed out.its direspectful. he is alredy av legend no matter what heron.besides, dwight's gonna know when to take a rest.
