Football / Re: Scott Sealy like Jason Scotland scores wherever he plays
« on: February 08, 2009, 05:20:21 PM »
Scott Sealy screwed up his chances for permanently representing TT by playing lackadaisical and uninterested when he was selected two years ago and got labeled as a lazy player who did not care for TT.  He was outplayed by Darryl Roberts.  That is not how he played in the MLS but those reputations, undeserved in  his case, follow you if you don't give your all in every game.  With the wealth of strikers TT has he may never get another chance unless he get to a European team and really catch fire.

Thanks. I was really trying to figure out why Scott Sealy was getting a raw deal.

The first thing that come out most people mouth here  is the moderaters trying to gag we  for criticizing players. Our forum is popular. I think that's amazing.
At the same time, I would hope that  a compromize will come about where we will find out about the players, and Flex suggestion that we could at least wait til they get sign could work for now

Pure tata! If professional clubs reading a forum and making decisions on signing a player/ How unprofessional is that!
I 2nd that. That saved Jemmott cause who would want to be in club that runned by idiots like that  :rotfl:
ent? next time they cut him for poming in the team bus  :rotfl:
ya see...dat is exactly wha she talkin bout

ya just ruined de man career
lol

but seriously i get the point. IT ALL ABOUT CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS.  Initially people will think how stupid it is but, clubs would like to get players for the cheapest they can. so when they see thing like man might play for Caledonia AIA, they might get scared and think there agent lied to them in a ploy to drive up the price with another club .  It's like hearing about your player was flirting and meeting with another club and that will get the other club upset. plain and simple fellow forumites just post facts instead of rumors.  If you dont have a source don't post it.  Or we should make a separate section for rumors only, maybe.

Another good point.

It may not be unprofessional this seems to be a new approach at finding out how the players are in their comfort zone after they've stopped "acting their best" to gain a contract. In fact it may be a little personality trait that a two men at a club may be disputing and one man might suggest they find a forum where the locals talk about the player to see if it was mentioned. Remember clubs don't want to make bad investments this is just an innovative way of doing so, it may form let's say 5% of the decision but if they thought the man was iffy in the first place it's a big 5%

Anybody in HR here? with the hundreds of resumes in an office with everybody qualified doesn't it come down to what personal qualities you can discern on the interview? However saying it's the sole basis for selection is rubbish, no need to go overboard and suggest man might pick a coach from a web page.
Very well said.

Maturana wants Caribbean Cup.
By: Ian Prescott (T&T Express).

....
Maturana was basking in the limelight, for a moment out of the long shadow cast by football pundits and media over some of his tactics on the way to the Final Round of CONCACAF Qualifying.

Clearly enjoying the moment, he reflected on many things, including his deliberate decision to develop inexperienced players.

"No one can say that Maturana did not give an opportunity to anyone," he declared. "This is a team of open doors and we have had the opportunity to look at over 68 local players. We've given the opportunity to each one and at the end of it we are going to choose the best players."

The Colombian said he could have taken the easy route and selected 15 popular players for any one match. He said, instead, he chose to give as many players the chance to develop with the team and show if they are up to the required level. ....

Well, love him or hate him, you have to give him credit for that. That's the one thing I had against the Dutch coaches:  not giving the locals a good chance on senior level. Thanks for Maturana, otherwise there'd be no Keon Daniel on our regular team.

Football / Re: Sell out crowd to see Cuba ?
« on: November 20, 2008, 07:30:37 PM »
Probably the World Cup Qualifier against Jamaica in de Office in 2001 when we lorse 1-0. De official attendance was reported as 34,000, and unofficially it was said to be between 35,000 and 40,000.

De crowd against Cuba was good, but it wasn't no sell-out.

Thanks Tallman, but I was talking about in T&T and against Caribbean opposition.

OK, well then it might be against Jamaica in the Hasely Crawford Stadium on March 28, 1999. The match was reported to be watched by a capacity crowd of 28,000. We won 2-0 on goals by Nakhid and Stern.

Would definitely agree, though disagreeing with Tallman on stats is usually not advisable anyway. That was the so-called dream team with Stern Nixon Nakhid Yorke Latas Marcelle Shaka, Andrews, Elcock, David and Julien. I get it right Tallest?
Yeh, is dem self.
i only remember that yorke was reaching  the top of his worldwide fame and it was his first international since joining and ripping up for ManU.The fact that Shaka finally decide to play for us probabaly also help guarantee that game get sell out. I  watch it live on tv.
I speaking about the 2001 away game, i think that that was our best starting dream team up til then. too bad they lost .

TTFF: but Yorke put Jones through one-on-one with Cuba goalkeeper Danis Quintero Chevans in the 67th and he slotted the ball beneath Chevans.

Guardian: played the ball to Yorke in midfield. The skipper in turn put Jones through and the striker chipped over the head of advancing Quintros.

TTFF:  The draw for  that round takes place in Johannesburg on Sunday.

Guardian: the draw for which will be made tomorrow.

This the same game ?????

fellahs who see the highlights know the guardian wrong about how jones put it in.  the draw will be done by sometine saturday afternoon

Giggsy ... yuh name and yuh post remind me of a certain team that is part of Great Britian/ Britian/ UK (I think dem fellas still figuring it out on the next thread).

How about the WHOLE Welsh team for major disappointment.
Dem fellas had one of the biggest bomb squads assembled and couldnt get a peep in the WC.

While we at it ... how about Bruce Grobbelar.
Big Big keeper for Liverpool .... but salt for Zimbabwe.

ah know allyuh men followin more ball than me, but I wonder what's your opinion of Terry. I find it painful to defend(no pun intended) him, I'm sure he is a really good player

sounds like dey shouting 'Nazis Auf' - Nazis Out!

great story with one caveat. It was a small group of skinheads. This will be tough when is a few thousand of them getting on bad. But baby steps.

That's 'Nazis raus!'

thanks. funny thing is it was a typo. I meant to write Aus...as in Auslander. I don't know German, but I know Auslander is foreigner, and I was guessing the Aus meant out, or outside. Sounded like Nazis Aus to the foreign ear. Not a bad guess, no?  ;D

yes, aus does mean out (preposition), also end or finish (noun). Also used to command a dog to drop (Aus!)

Raus is a contraction of heraus, an adverb meaning forth or out, but used as a interjection means 'get out!'

ok you probably weren't asking for that much grammar.

Well thanks. I appreciated it, even though it wasn't intended directly for me.You've taught me something new in German.

I haven't read all the posts, but I personally am glad that Dwarika is bein given another tryout. I mean, this is a guy who would rather play in trinidad. Whatever is your opinion of that,or his motives. I kinda somehow respect that.I think he needs a chance after being the best local player back in 2000. and he still got some skills left. let's see if he will step up
