Yep its true about Kelly Ann's 10.84...In Florida...World leading time...Congrats to her....Big up the LSU crew..

LSU???? I am 99% sure she trains with Tyson Gay under the charge of Lance Brauman along with Bledman. Lance is maybe a little weak on the technical aspect(specifically the start), but he is known for whipping his athletes into shape.

Official meet results.

What school did she and RT attend?? Not LSU? No need to get touchy about who she trains with as it really doesn't matter to me once she is able to produce and run well injury free!! :beermug:

His split was 47.0 flat! He also ran a 200m leg in a sprint medley relay the day before. His next race will be another 200m flat in two weeks.

Much thanks...

Would like to see something a split time in the 45.xx range, given his available foot speed. Is he scared of the pain, or has problems with pacing?

Neither one! Had an extremely tough training week so legs were weary. His coach isn't worried as well as RT as nothing happens before its time!! ;D

The gun has sounded and the race has started! Richard 'Torpedo' Thompson kicked off his 2010 outdoor campaign with a 3rd leg split of 46.82 secs in the 4X400 relay at the Louisiana Classic in Lafayette yesterday. This is Torpedo's first 400 metres race run since attending LSU. He said that he was a bit conservative especially in the middle part of the race but now that he knows what he is capable of, things will just get better from here onwards. He got the baton in 4th place and handed it over in 2nd place to help his team to finish in that same position. As he said "This is just the beginning and a sign of things to come"

Here are the results for the race:

BATON ROUGE - Former LSU Tiger and Olympic silver medalist Richard Thompson is certainly a worthy ambassador for his native country of Trinidad & Tobago, and that was never more evident than a recent trip to his homeland in which he surprised two local schools with a sizable donation as a token of his appreciation for the education he received as a youth.

Before attending LSU on a track scholarship, Thompson attended the Newtown Boys' RC School and the Queen's Royal College in Port-of-Spain where he received a strong foundation in education and athletics.

In a show of appreciation, Thompson donated approximately $4,000 USD ($25,000 TTD) to each school, while also paying tribute to the many educators who helped build a solid foundation to flourish at the next level. He has also made a similar contribution to the Autistic Society of Trinidad and Tobago and the Just Because Foundation this year for a total donation of $16,000 USD ($100,000 TTD) to his country.

"I am glad that I'm in a position to help those in need," Thompson said. "I am also thankful that God has blessed me and given me the opportunity to give back to the institutions that set the foundation to help me get to where I am now. I will be forever grateful for their influence on my life."

Thompson, who wrapped up his collegiate career at LSU as an eight-time All-American and 2008 NCAA 100-meter champion, is on track to graduate in either August or December with a degree in sociology.

A native of Cascade, Trinidad, Thompson became a symbol of national pride at the 2008 Olympic Games when he won a pair of silver medals in his Olympics debut, including a runner-up finish to Jamaica's Usain Bolt in the 100-meter dash before anchoring Trinidad & Tobago to a runner-up finish in the 4x100-meter relay. He set his personal best of 9.89 seconds in the 100-meter final at the Olympic Games.

Thompson continued his success into his first season as a professional in 2009 when he placed fifth in the 100-meter dash at the IAAF World Championships in Athletics in Berlin, Germany, while also anchoring his country to a silver medal in the 4x100-meter relay.

He again established himself as one of the world's premier sprinters by finishing the 2009 campaign rated as the seventh-fastest sprinter in the world with a seasonal-best time of 9.93.

Doesn't work quite that way.

1st, Brown has never been a world class 200m runner, and 2 when the tank is empty u can't do anything without getting hurt, so moving to anything other than retired will yield more of what we have seen since 2001Injury after injury and they continue to linger more and more.

Just prepare for it so that you don't frustrate yourself every single year.

Hey Ato, I believe that is where the insinuation of retirement arose!!? ???

Dat is exactly what they are...Predictions!!! I prefer to wait until Beijing for the 'truth'!!! Ah tell all yuh dat some strange tings will develop come Beijing....I like tuh tell people "I told you so" So watch it!!!

Remember my quote from last year (see above) when all the so called predictions were made!! There is still some time to go before WC...Let's wait and see what transpires because alot can happen between now and then!! Bolt will be Bolt once healthy and injury free and I do agree with Ato that it will be probably be one of the best 100M finals ever adding Tyson to d mix.. But as I say I prefer tuh wait until Berlin for d real deal!!! Some strange things usually happen and who knows when and what will!! As yuh done know by now, I like to tell ppl "I told you so"...Ah gone.. :beermug:

Unfortunately, RT only arrived in Rome yesterday due to some flight hiccups and was suffering from jetlag. He felt flat during the final but is certainly looking forward to Paris next week!

Trini trials men's 100 and Jam trials women's 100 both had possible false starts - that's why Kerron was so pissed. I DID notice how she ran SAF down - wow

Hey AB, I agree that Kerron's run was awesome..Fraser is quite quick out of the blocks as well. I fancy KS's chances at the WC very much for the top spot...KAB has a great chance to be among the medals herself!! As a matter of fact, I feel that it will be a Caribbean sweep again in the 100m women's dash!! I guess that only time will tell?!! :beermug:

Can anyone say why Kerron Stewart appeared so upset after the race??

Quote from a track official at the meet!!

Gotta comment on this I'm very happy for Shelly. However, there was indeed a problem with the starter. And i knew this as I worked as an official. Aleen and Kerron were both complaining and its not a coincident that both are complaining. But such is life and the official has the last say...USA watch out!!!

Response:

Looks like Frasier once again benefits from a more that suspect start... Stewart and Aleen looked PISSED!!!Stephaion Ricka Douglas at 3:53am June 28

Track official's response:

They are, but the truth iis sump happened!! I thought they were gonna call bck the race. But see such is life shud make them both more stronger, and more hungry!!!

6. Yohan Blake 10.13
7. Lerone Clarke 10.25
8. Winston Barnes 10.25

Bolt better than usual start with Asafa on his left and looking good but Bolt remains supreme and along with Frater they are clearly ahead Bolt wins 9.88, Powell 2nd 9.97 Frater 3rd 10.02
Women's 100m Final

Lets deal with your Aleesha Barber comment , I think you are being very unreasonable to say that she has regressed , She has been injured whole season only came back last week at ncaa championship and is still not back to 100% so I expect before world championship fr her to be beating josanne and be our top 100mh sprinter . As for my thoughts on the 100m men I think Darrel would of won if it had been a fair race , did you noticed that after armstrong false start it caused richard and marc the two closes to him to get out after him the rest of the athletes were left in their blocks , So i wonder what time darrel and bledman would have run .Next those two newspaper reporters should be fired they have their reports so wrong . Kern Defraitas and Joel Bailey can we get proper reports , it is your job, you getting pay for it , your level of substandard and wrong reporting is getting very ridiculous

Jusbless, I am really surprised at your level of biasness!! Did u really look at the replay of the 100m Mens race?? Let's be fair here...Barring Aaron, they all got out to level starts with the exception of Callender...Look at the replay for yourself and see!! To say that Darrel would have won if they all got a fair start is really displaying your biasness where Darrel is concerned and telling me no matter what Darrel runs, there will always be an excuse for him not winning a race! I like Darrel also but give jack his jacket!! RT didn't even have to dip at the tape (in case you didn't notice) while all the others were struggling to dip for the other places....I don't mind ppl having their opinions but it gets ridiculous when things are there to be seen very clearly but the biasness tends to cloud our judgement!! Look at the tape again pardner and hoepfully you'll be more impartial and call a spade a spade!! :beermug:

Who running the 4x100 m and the 4x400 m for trinidad can we get a team list

For the 4x100m If DB is running it will be DB-Burns-Callendar-RT. If not Armstrong will be his likely replacement. As for the 4x400m I am clueless.

DB will NOT be running the 4X100 today. As I understand it he is not ready to roll as yet!! More on that later.... ???
