Fate has such a way with dealing out 'hands'!! I agree with Palos that neither Bolt nor Asafa will win the gold in Beijing!! Can't predict who but it could be anyone of eight finalist lining up on d night...Just ask Ato!!

Ah know dat it looks like nobody cyah beat Bolt, Asafa or Gay but stranger things have happened!! My gut feeling though is that an 'outsider' will upset the apple cart!!! Cyah say who tho but dey have some good prospects other than the favourites!!!  ;D

I hear you and couldn't agree more!!!!

I wonder where all those who warned him not to be "over there in my shadow" are now? You know the same (supposed) shadow everyone is/was afraid of but now years later they look up and realize oh that seems to be the blueprint for actual  success

3rd biggest deal of anyone coming out of school, EVER. That ent a bad BRONZE to start with lol

Someday more will listen.  Someday.

MONEY/CLOUT talk, BULLSHIT runs the marathon.

Congrats to mih boy, his family and to all who do it (and continue to do it) the right way.  The haters/naysayers/thinktheyknowbutheydonts don't make a single deposit into your bank account!

Thompson isn't intimidated by these giants!! As a matter of fact he has nothing to lose and will certainly look to make a statement!!! This will be a nice test for him to run with the 'big boys'!! Remember that Crawford ran out of lane one in Montreal!!! :-X Who knows!!?? ;D

Apparently Brown had this knot in his hamstring before he went ot the CAC.. May not have even ran the 100M but I supposed realised that his chances of making the team for Beijing and shutting up his detractors depended on him competing!!

Received info that both the men and women relay teams won gold at CAC today!! Men did the lap in 38.54 secs which propels them into 6th position regarding times to date. Understood also that Bleadman ran instead of Brown who was nursing a sore hamstring..Time could have been better but there was a bad exchange between Armstrong and Thompson who ran anchor..At least they still have some time to work out the kinks!! Congrats to the guys all in all.
Also heard that Cleopatra Borel Brown won the shot putt and Alisha Barber came 3rd in the 200 (I think it is the 200 but nonetheless she came 3rd in some race...lol

BTW Ato, what is ur take on the amount of PR's in the 100M for men?? What do you feel Thompson would have done if he was in the race with some of the guys he has been beating all year?? Very interesting times ahead...and now!!!!!

I agree with your sentiments all the way!!!!! Way too many PR's yesterday and by sizeable margins!!!??

My perspective on Ato's choice is simply that Brown has not yet proven himself for the season as "anchor pedigree"!! He hasn't run any sub 10 races legally since 2005 or is it 2004 (Thompson has a 9.93 and 9.97 and still hasn't peaked)!! If you have followed Thompson's progress for 2008, you would notice that it is a big difference to last year. His advantage this year is his acceleration especially in the latter part of the race and the fact that he has speed along with his 6ft2in strides!!! Many pundits believe that Brown had the race won had he not fallen and all because he started to accelerate at that point. What you are not aware of is what Thompson has been doing whole season and that is shifting to a higher gear in the latter half of his race!! But I guess that everyone has their own opinions without any real facts..I am glad though that everone came out healthy and also the fact that Thompson is still the underdog to Brown and Burns!! I guess we will have to wait until Beijing to see really who is who!! :-X

Don't think there will any rematch at the CAC championship based on the info you have provided. Only Darrel and Keston will contest the 100M event. All the other sprinters will only run the 4X100 relay..

Looks are deceiving my friend!! Apparently you haven't been watching Richard execute his races whole season?! What u consider to be ahead is just a phase of the race. If you've been following Richard's progress, you would notice that the last 30-40 meters of his race is his strong point!! Everyone has their views on how the race would have turned out but the reality is it didn't as expected!! I am glad for all the participants involved that it wasn't more serious!! I am sure that Richard will show his true colours at the right time (which may be ssoner than expected by some). He is a humble individual with class which was clearly demonstrated after the turn of events when Darrel came and apologised to him and Richard accepting it graciously by telling him that he was just happy that he Darrel was not injured so that they could chase precious metal in Beijing!!! He is claerly a team player who places other people's concerns before his own! This is what will make the difference in time to come...Trust me and remember that I told you so!!! Cheers....

75
Dat is a good question and my answer is Dix would have definitely lost to Richard if that was the case!!! He would have been in Richard's view and that would have made Richard run a different type of race...Would be interesting to hear the other views tho!!??

Hey Ato,

Just a small correction regarding Richard! He is actually from 'Cascade' and not 'Carenage'!! ;D Anyway, I do agree with your analogy about the 100 and 200 meter races. It would be difficult for the 200 m as he is now understanding how to run that race!! I'm sure that he will continue to improve as time goes by!!! Hoping to be at the championship once I can get the time off from work...Will chat some more...
