...was thinking earlier of starting a "FIFA Club World Cup" thread, but yuh kinda beat meh to it....anybody see dem goals Santos scored yesterday?  all three of them was some top class goals!!

That tournament is sh*t.  They should leave the big dogs out, and let the smaller feds showcase their talent to the big team scouts.  Look how David gonna miss out on the rest of the season, and possibly Euro '12 for a trophy that the club probably doesn't care about.

Nah bro. Them clubs care about $$$$$. This tournament is big money for them

Real Madrid played a massive game but were let down by CR7. That was the worst game I have seen him play in the last 2 years. The 2 sitters he missed would have changed the game entirely. He was also poor in possession most times. Real have found the formula, but just need everyone to play their best game at the same time in order to beat Barca.

Benzema is d truth.

Football / Re: T&T ends W/Cup campaign with 2-0 win over Guyana.
« on: November 16, 2011, 10:48:18 AM »
I believe that this would have been the result even if the game was meaningful.

I wonder if it would have been wise to swallow our pride and employ a conservative strategy in Guyana - get guys behind the ball and walk away with a point....then bring it home in the Hasely.

Just the fact that we talking about playing conservative against Guyana, under any circumstance, tells you all you need to know about where the national program is.

That might be part of the problem. The footballing world has progressed while we have remained stagnant, or quite possibly, taken a step back. We are no longer in a position to take any win for granted and that arrogance has not helped our cause.

We need to focus all our energies on the next Deigicel CUp. It is critical that we put in a good performance and hopefully make the final.

Goalscoring is an art...poaching is one as well.

Getting into the correct position  at the right time is a skill...that only stern has.

In a do or die....i backing stern over anybody else.

Dat  offside ting is a ploy...only the uninitiated cannot spot it.  Stern always gets a chance every game to score.

Do or die time is when stern does deliver

My have we come a long way. Had a time you never wanted to see "Half-slab" on a field. And that was in his prime

It would be interesting to find out how effective these named players were after traveling that distance. Do we have any match ratings for matches they played for the national team while employed by these clubs?

Allyuh have any idea how long it will take the players to fly home from Vietnam for an international match? Jeez I hope them men bankin, cuz it almost doh make sense to call them back for the national squad. I doh even know if their club would let them leave for the length of time it takes to travel home, play the match and fly back.

"The trailer was not Awesome, but I can imagine how his will look in IMAX"

Co-sign. I eh need to see the best scenes in the trailer. Just some interesting ones. You could suggest what is going to happen as opposed to showing it.

As I said before Marvel vs DC sound like shit. And doubt they would agree to do that. Way too much good source comic material to venture down that road. Where you hearing those rumours?

I feel Densil is a practice champ. Otto isn't the first coach to like him, remember he was a fixture in Beenie's team. So two big-time coaches think very highly of him, despite the fact that he has made little impact in games. It hadda be a mental ting...

This trailer was kinda average in my opinion. I real hyped for the movie despite it though.

« on: October 12, 2011, 10:11:45 AM »
Sad ting is in the Brazilian league he playin the same slow pace. International sides will mash him up. I saw him dominate against lower level competition in the Serie A,  but was left wanting in against all the top tier teams.

Wuz real bother me is how hard it could be to go to some performance center in the US and work on some speed and quickness? A six week camp would do the world of difference as just a inch of extra speed will revolutionize his game again.

I also think Hector is the truth from what little I have seen of him. His technique seems to be far superior to the other local-based players.

Peltier, Hector, Hyland and Philip should be the core of the team going forward.

I'm a bit surprised Otto would decide to start Hector on the bench

I agree with asylumseeker .

I studied Spanish for two years in undergrad. The program involved daily classes (one of the few) and Spanish was the only language spoken in the classroom without exception. Even with that, my professor revealed that you can only truly become fluent after spending sufficient time in a place where Spanish was the native language. You need to be immersed in the language to really master it.

Rosetta Stone, from what I understand, is a step in the right direction.

Yeah, I meant wait another year in Trini, but as you said, it wasn't really your choice.

I still don't think doing A-levels is a bad idea, even if you migrating. Not from a credit-standpoint, but an overall college-prep and maturity standpoint. I can see someone succeeding easily without it, but it was very beneficial to me. I was still learning how to study during A's and thought hat helped a lot in undergrad.

PLUS you a couple years closer to the legal drinking age  :beermug:

"Agree that A levels is a waste of time if someone plans on riding out."
I disagree. I would never classify any type of education as a waste.

"I was in Trinidad when the application period began in November... having enrolled in HS in January there was no way to get on that Ivy track after the admission train done leave."
You could have waited for another year man

Watch Thor on Blu Ray after seeing it 3D in the theater. BIG improvement. Opt for HD if you can cuz it looks spectacular. I originally thought Captain America was better, but now I have to think about it.

I tink that scene from Due Date was in the trailer yes...

Other Sports / Re: Mayweather VS Ortiz 24/7
« on: September 27, 2011, 08:48:25 AM »
"Legal" doesn't always equate to being "fair".

Watched it again. The ref said "Let's go". So time was in. This was even before the fighters touched gloves. So it was defintiely on, but Ortiz was feeling so bad for the head butt that he felt compelled to prolong his apology. Floyd eh have time with that so it was left hook, right hand and that was all she wrote. So entirely legal, but a little unfair because Ortiz was clearly not ready.

Also listened to the interview and Merchant was actually being more congratulatory to Floyd than usual. But Floyd was feeling so bad for the sucker punch that he lost his head and probably wasn't listening clearly. Merchant repeatedly was telling Floyd about how he was dominant. Notice Floyd say he would give d man a rematch early o'clock. That was d guilt talking.

Other Sports / Re: Mayweather VS Ortiz 24/7
« on: September 26, 2011, 01:51:03 PM »
Merchant's questions were valid and honestly I think Floyd was a lil shame with how things went down, that's why he erupted in the interview. I also think Cortez did shite because he was clearly NOT looking at the action if he did in fact call time-in.

But having said that, Ortiz was a fool for fighting dirty in the first place and taking the second punch flush.

My only disappointment was that Ortiz looked to have some fight in him, and a heavy puncher always has a chance. All he needed to do was land one, but we never got to see that chance.

With all due respect, Floyd only lookin for big money fights and no under-24 fighter had the draw to make a big money fight before this one. So can't say he ducking young fighters.

Regarding the Pacman accusations, I can see where they are coming from. Pacman is the only man to go up in weight by SO much WITHOUT sacrificing POWER and SPEED. Never happened before, so reasonable to question why it is possible with him.

I find y'all not giving Milan enough credit. This was a classic Italian strategy. I also think tey did well in the few moments that they did in fact have the ball.

PS Seedorf has been a liability for the last 3 years.

She needs to outline the process used in the appointment, the weaknesses that caused the "error" and the changes that will be implemented to avoid such mistakes from being made in the future.

However, in order to do that she first has to acknowledge that a mistake was made.

Sorry, my mistake. You should know better. Speaking about a person of that authority in such regard is inappropriate. You can't attempt to come on this board and spew knowledge, then belittle yourself with these kind of classless statements.

Everyone here welcomes opinions but that is simply crossing the line. I eh care what education you have or how entitled you think you are.

And the sad thing is I tend to agree with your opinion on the overall issue being discussed.

If Eagles had a better defense and defensive coordinator they would have a real chance at the superbowl.

Played itself out yesterday

The numerous sacks and hits allowed on Vick wasn't a factor?  What about the 5 dropped passes?  As a Giants fan it pains me to give the Eagles any kind of credit, but Sean McDonough is a fine defensive coordinator.  We have the #4 ranked defense yet Aaron Rodgers shredded us for over 500 yards.. at a time when we were ranked #2.  Our defensive coordinator is a head coach candidate for at least 3 jobs... despite that ugly loss.  Sometimes you just have to tip your hat to a superior opponent, and Aaron Rodgers is on fire right now.  Scary to think what them Packers receivers will do on turf in Atlanta next weekend.

There's a reason why they fired the coach. He didn't pressure the QB enough. That's what the eagles used to hang their hat on back in the Jim Johnson days and what Andy Reid wants. They also got sliced by the run game. McDermott also didn't seem to know how to make adjustments well enough.
